I go here every year for Cinco de Mayo which is today... the owner is such a warm, congenial, kind and courteous man and today his daughter Maria was our server; she was glorious and service was impeccable. The food as always is sumptuous and the atmosphere is cozy and inviting. This is the best sit-down Mexican restaurant in the area, hands down. It used to be Hacienda Sauza and hasn't changed in quality, even though it changed names. For food we had Mariscada Cabo San Lucas, Chicken quesadilla, Pollo borracho, and Tamales mixtecos. Each meal was tasty and was a very generous serving. The drinks there are creative and they have a long list of options. Make sure to have a designated driver. We always get the guacamole that they make at the side of your table and the flaming ice cream after the meal (that they also make at your table). The kids love it even though they aren't kids anymore. Service is always attentive and accurate. Remember to tip well. read more

That's about all that's great though; the food was underwhelming for a price that does not fit what we received. The tacos we ordered were bland, and so were the enchiladas. For two people, ordering one appetizer, two entrees at their average price, and a drink, it came to $76. I'd gladly pay that much if the food was delicious, but this felt more like getting cheated. The cherry on top was that the refried beans were not good at all. We used to love coming here but it seems to be going downhill which is unfortunate since it used to be amazing. If you want mediocre Mexican food and aren't picky about price, this one's for you. And hey, their drinks are pretty good. read more

This used to be a my favorite Mexican restaurant and have been going there for 15 years or so for their enchiladas, fajitas, chimichangas, flautas and margaritas. As of late and especially my last visit I've noticed quite a bit change, it has been a hit or miss with this place, my enchiladas were so pasty one has to think they were nuked, sauce was very liquid and cheese was very scarce, margaritas were very weak and tasted like a pre-mix variety. Food is not cheap, $20 for enchiladas? At least make them tasty and fresh, and not have the chicken so dry. read more

Happy Cinco De Mayo!! Our group of 4 went to another restaurant to celebrate Cinco De Mayo, yesterday. Fortunately for us, that restaurant was packed and unable to serve us. I had previously read all the great reviews of Hacienda Lopez on Yelp, so I was eager to try. We arrived around 4:45 pm and there was about two families ahead of us. We held our breathe, not sure we would be accommodated. Staff was very friendly and we waited for about 5 minutes to be seated. We were led to the back part of the restaurant which was quite spacious and very well decorated. It has a cozy, intimate vibe. We ordered our drinks and food which included vegetarian fajitas, steak, and enchiladas. We were immediately served warm chips and salsa. The food took quite a while to come out but it was well worth the wait. As the server brought the tray all I saw was piping hot steam coming from the dishes!! Our table was filled to capacity with our feast. The food was piping hot, I had large chunks of carrots, mushrooms, asparagus, red and green peppers, and onions to fill my warm tortillas. The dish also included yellow rice and refried beans along with guacamole, sour cream and pico de gallo. Everything was fresh and well seasoned. For dessert, we shared the flan and the fried ice cream. Soooo good!! We were not rushed at all even though when we left, the line was out the door and the parking lot was full beyond capacity. I love Hacienda Sauza! This place offers EVERYTHING that you'd normally get at it's sister restaurant (Guadalajara), but with far friendlier service. The tableside guacamole and frozen margaritas have always been a big hit. Although I am only doing pick-up right now, due to the pandemic, they have been great about bringing my food out curbside (while wearing masks) and are even serving up their fabulous margaritas to-go. I decided to come here based on the good reviews. Sadly, I was pretty disappointed. First off, the parking lot was completely empty (hmm...first sign). We were seated promptly because there was no one in there. Food: The salsa was completely bland and tasted like tomato sauce from a can with no flavor. It had chunks if onion and cilantro but all these ingredients were tasteless. I figured maybe it was a good thing so I wouldn't over do it with the chips. Ok, now into the meal. I ordered a combo platter consisting of a taco, a beef burrito, and a cheese enchiladas. The taco was crunchy and flavorful but the burrito and the enchilada were both encased in a thick gummy flour tortilla. It reminded me of the supermarket brands. Usually enchiladas have a thin casing and should melt in your mouth. Not restaurant quality. The rice and refried beans were mediocre as well. Not sure if the soda refills are free but they give you a small glass which is also disappointing. Staff: excellent customer service and the ambiance is nice. Prices are competitive. read more

For our area which really lacks Mexican restaurants, this is the best one. I've been here recently within 2 weeks and both times I'm left with the same impression - great service, good food, good quality dribks - however they can't properly make a fried ice cream. I was here for Cinco de Mayo and for Mother's Day - both times ordered the FI. The lady who made it (both times) had trouble making it correctly. The ice cream which is rolled in corn flakes and coconut barely burned and was not crispy at all. Yesterday I actually said something to the lady making it so she attempted to make me a new one. The 2nd one came out even less Fried then the one I sent back. It actually tasted like mushy corn flakes. She ended up removing it from the bill bc she knew it wasn't made correctly. She told me sometimes the coconut doesn't take to the flame... I've had plenty of fried ice creams in my life... never has that happened. I wonder if it's cheap rum or not enough rum or maybe cheap cornflake/coconut. Either way something is wrong. But I will be back bc like I said, the service is great and the rest of the food is delish! read more

I'll start with my favorite dish here- the chicken flautas, which translates to flute. They're deep fried tacos (flute shaped) stuffed with your choice of meat, topped with lettuce, queso Fresco and sour cream. It is a fresh, filling plate that wont leave you disappointed. The first time we came here, we asked one of the servers what was their most popular appetizer- he suggested the Shrimp a la jillo- I was disappointed- I do understand that in Latin American countries, shrimp is usually served with the shell- but I've never seen it done in the states. Also- my partner drinks about 4 sodas whenever we go out to eat. We were shocked to see them charge for each soda. No soda refills here! You've been warned. The first thing they have to do is put screens on the doors. They open the front and back doors, I spend my time swatting flies (plural) off the chips, salsa, food and our drinks. Please cover the guacamole ingredients and move the tray that they are on, away from the bathrooms. People are walking by the uncovered ingredients to go to the back of the restaurant or to the bathrooms. The wait staff is too busy gossiping with each other or the food delivery people. Please advise your staff the year is 2023, most people are bilingual. I should have gone over to the group you were gossiping about, it was very petty. Our food came out the sauce on my shrimp was congealing, my friends tacos were sitting in a pool of grease because it had been left standing in the kitchen too long . The beans were runny, the rice lukewarm and the salad was warm. We ordered coffee and dessert, after 15 minutes, we asked for the check. Then she remembers we ordered dessert. Then she states I'll get it right away, no just the check! It took another10 minutes to get the bill paid. They were not busy so there is no excuse for the lack of service or the food sitting on the kitchen. I wish I took pictures of my meal, it was unappetizing to look at and bland to taste. My enchiladas had no cheese, and the sauce had no flavor. The beef tasted like it was sitting all day and they didn't even warm it before putting it in a tortilla. My partners meal contained old veggies with absolutely no flavor. Service was slow and when I complained about both of our cold nasty meals, the waitress wasn't apologetic and didn't try to fix the situation. I'm sad because I was excited to try this place but it was the biggest disappointment. The prices for this soggy, unseasoned food were ridiculous costing 17$ for three enchiladas and 18$ for a veggie fajita. When I got home I immediately felt sick. We've been here twice. The paella is BEYOND delicious! The guacamole is made is the molcajete - just as my mom does and I do! Every dish is fresh. When my husband I wanted a sipping tequila , the manager came by personally to explain the differences and then went to locate the appropriate brand/type. Excellent service! "Authentic"? Really?!? There are no words to describe the regret upon recipt of our $70 tab. My sister just moved to the area, and after a long day of unpacking, yardwork, etc., we were craving Mexican. We had driven past earlier, so there was no doubt in our minds where to go. Upon entering, we were sort of surprised to see sparl sombreros and fancy table linen. The menu was extensive, appeared authentic...and was priced pretty steep for what you would expect for a place advertising happy hour and a band with a cheap plastic signs with a sombrero wearing donkeys strung from the windows. We ordered Tecates (Why would your bring me the CAN, senorita??) and were hopeful that the $24 seafood fajitas would be to die for. Unfortunately, the salsa (tasted jarred at best) was a precursor for the dinner to come. My sister got Chiles Rellanos. The cheese inside was cold and hard. The enchilada sauce was a watered down tomato sauce. Her rice was lacking flavor and the watery beans were CONFUSING as to how they got so awful. Canned is much more texurally pleasing and flavorful! Her girlfriend ordered the seafood fajitas. Again, no flavor at all! She also only got 3 small tortillas, which didn't suffice for the amount of fajita. I got spinach and cheese quesadilla. What I ordered and what I received...not the same. I got 3 flour tortillas with watery spinach (needed a good squeeze) and cheese. This was the most flavorful menu item, which doesn't say much as it was NOT a quesadilla as described... No one asked us if we wanted another beer. I'm so confused. For a place that's well-versed in ripoffs, you'd have thought they would try and take a few more bucks while they were at it. The only good thing about this meal was that they brought out a free dessert: some fried torillas and ice cream drizzled in honey, chocolate and cinnamon. We were convinced this happened due to our bewildered expressions after all trying the beans and rice to confirm the sheer awfulness of them.
