This was my second time coming here. I love iced coffee and I always get excited to try new coffee places. However, this place has been a disappointment both times I have visited. I got the iced mufawar the first time I went, but the server was not helpful in helping me decide what would be best for my sweet tooth. I was asking her for recommendations but she just kept telling me everything was good, even if I asked her specifically about the most popular drink recommendations. She also told me anything could be made sweet, so despite asking her to put extra sweetener in my iced coffee, I still found myself adding at least 4 more packets of the dominos sugars from the counter into my drink. Would not recommend the iced mufawar if you have a sweet tooth like me. Also during my first visit, my friend got the iced adeni chai which was definitely better than my drink. It was more on the sweeter side. I think it's because the cold foam helped. I decided to give this place another chance today. During my second visit, I decided to get the iced adeni chai since it was made good for my friend during my first visit. However, not only was it darker and less sweet (despite asking for extra sweetener again) but the barista FORGOT my cold foam, the part that I think makes the drink stand out. I stepped outside of the store and noticed and then had to go back inside and ask for it. I think the drinks truly depend on the barista who makes it, because it was not as good as it was the first time. I also tried the iced moka spice latte which was a bit better than any of the drinks I have tried from here, but still not up to my standards. This place is also very overpriced for the quality of drinks that are made. However, it is spacious, bright, and gives a good vibe. They also have a few seats outdoors if you want to enjoy your drinks while watching the bustling neighborhood of Astoria. Good location with multiple shops and eateries around. However, you could definitely find a better coffee place around town. Overall, I would not go out of my way to go back to this place and would suggest to stick to Qahwah House. They are the OG. I have not come across anyone else who makes Yemeni coffees as delicious as them. read more

Cool open airy space. Nice music, though it seems like the same song, which was a good one, was played on repeat. Service was friendly, and the lady at the counter suggested moka latte and the Dubai pistachio milk cake for me. They were both good choices for me. Although next time I wonder if I can find a dessert that's not so heavy on cream and lower in sweetness. There are different milk options, and decaf options. I thought the price for drinks and dessert was a tad expensive, but they're also large. It's be great if there are half portions for half the price for desserts! read more

Checked out this new cafe on Steinway shortly after it opened. My first impression is that this is an amazingly sized place great for large groups or finding a seat to camp out and work in. I tried the Lotus Cheesecake which was pricy and unfortunately very delicious lol. While the ambience is excellent, the drinks and pastries, as well as service, leave a lot to be desired. I got cappuccino, a Yemini tea and a Black Forest cake. We barely drank the cappuccino, not sure the barista knows how to make one, it barely had any foam and was extremely bitter. The cake looked excellent but tasted ghastly, strangely perfumed and medicinal to taste. The Yemini tea was similarly disappointing. When I requested staff to change just the cake as it was quite frankly inedible, they refused, said it was not their policy. $25 spent, and not a good thing to say for it! Save your money and head to Mo cafe a couple blocks down. read more

They did not have prices for the cheese and milk cakes or any of their sweets so it was quite a shocker to see the total. It was way too much for a slice of cake. There is plenty of seating but beware that outlets only appear to be in the front near the door. The same door the employees decided to keep open on a chilly day. The tables are awkwardly arranged uncomfortably close to each other. The latte was good, I suppose. But was it anything you couldn't find at the 50 nearby coffee places? No. Also, they bring you your order but then I noticed plates and cups left behind were never bussed away. Which one is it? Are you self-service or are your employees doing the bussing? They also have a selection of small deserts and pastries, the best being the tres leches cakes! The ambiance is very cozy and warm. There are many seats and the building is well lit. The service is great and it's always bustling with people. The one downside is just that their music is wayy too loud. my friend and i came here a couple weeks ago because we wanted some late night dessert and found this bakery appealing based off our options. we arrived and were surprised by the dubai chocolate and pistachio options. can't say we loved the pistachio napoleon cake which was recommended. however what you don't see is that there was a hair in the pistachio roll cake. i didn't take a picture because i quickly took it up to the cashier. one worker looked at it and then showed it to another workers and waited for the cashier to be done before she was able to offer me a refund. everyone offered me a replacement cake but honestly, i wouldn't have wanted to order anything else to eat. i asked for a refund for my one hair filled dessert but it would've been nice if they offered something else because that's just gross! also, even though the cashier gave me a refund, i never actually got it. i had to dispute the $12 with my bank and because i'm honest, i only disputed the $12 and not the entire cost of the dessert, which was $32. would i come again? maybe... read more
