First review of 2025! This cute little coffee place hit the spot after a grueling workout yesterday. It is conveniently located just a few doors down from planet fitness on Steinway street. We walked in and were greeted right away. Honestly I had only been here less than a handful of times and once it was to try this lavender drink that was bomb! Anyways, back to yesterday. I ordered a latte with almond milk as the macchiato was served in a shot cup and a slice of pumpkin bread. The latte was good so good I didn't even need sugar nor was it scorching hot. And the pumpkin bread was soft and was just like biting into fall! Definitely better than the one they have at Starbucks. Definitely coming back here next week to try the cortado.

Came in to hide from the drizzling a bit. Spacious and calm vibes. Ordered a decaf cortado and it was pretty darn good for a decaf. Also ordered the chili cheese Danish - was given it cold but flavorful. Amusing story...a friend ordered a hojicha latte and requested half and half...that is half whole and half skim milk. Totally was misinterpreted as please use half and half cream for this iced hojicha - yikes!
Keepin it real out here in Astoria. Went into this cafe randomly cause I needed to drop a deuc3. Ended up trying the latte and staying for an hour on my laptop. Great cafe to get work done. Something slightly off about the vibe there but couldn't pinpoint it, still a decent experience overall. Neighborhood cafe but still feels kind of transient, will probably visit again
I adore this coffee shop so much, my favorite in Astoria by far! Their iced dirty chai is the best and make sure to get the maple cold brew while it's in season. The baristas are always so lovely, I love coming here with a friend or even just with my book. You can people-watch at the front if you're into that too. :)
I've been spending more time in Astoria and anytime I'm somewhere I need to find my spots. I will go the distance for the right dive, the cute art gallery, the authentic restaurant, the record store and of course the perfect cortado! Mama Mia! I love the nerdy culture of coffee so much. Those who know, always appreciate, document and share the love of latte art! Damn! This art was nice. The barista working was super nice and took pride in his work. He remarked it was the third photo taken of his art that day and we were only at the afternoon mark. Very positive vibes in this shop. He also poured me a nice glass of room temp water to go with my full fat cortado. I found a cute lil' stool by the mural and window view. A perfect afternoon treat. Speaking of treats, there was many to pick from. I will be returning for Caneles! One of my absolute faves. I'm a sucker for any custard variation, I can not be stopped in my humble cravings. Keep up the fantastic work and the stunning latte art!
I find it funny that a lot of my reviews are for coffee shops, even though I don't drink coffee. But here's a little secret -- some coffee houses have the best teas (if that's your thing). This holds true at Kinship Coffee. Their Moroccan Mint tea was everything I needed at that moment. Kinship is a tiny spot right off the corner of 30th Ave and Steinway. It's warm and welcoming and has the best staff. Upon my first visit, the barista made it a point to make sure I was able to get into the Wi-Fi so I was able to work. I ordered a mint tea and two of the Canelés. They were awesome! I had one at the cafe and one the next day at home which still tasted fresh). If you need a quiet little spot to work, or just collect your thoughts (because Steinway could get a bit cray) then this is a great spot for you to check out!
Ordered: Hot Matcha Latte (~$6): with oat milk and lavender (+75¢) Aya's take: No frills coffee shop in Astoria with an appreciate for good coffee. The Matcha Latte was spot on and the lavender syrup took it to the next level. It was warm and soothing. The cafe itself is super cute although not work-friendly as there aren't many tables/comfortable chairs.
I love the almond Croissant here and enjoy spending time with my friend.....great atmosphere. One thing, they don't have bathroom here so we decided not to come here. this is only reason. If the owner/manager see this I hope they consider for this. We're looking to spending time here again. Highly recommended here but a should know, no bathroom.
Astoria has a few coffee shops in this neighborhood that are cute like this one. Stopped at Gossip Coffee first, great environment but no outlets. Came here after. Does have outlets, but no bathroom. The barista is super nice and watched my things while I used the rest room across the street at a different restaurant. Cold brew was great. Nice and smooth. Oat milk and almond milk as alternatives. Pastries. Bar seating and yes, outlets. Sat here for a little and organized myself. Journaled and read. Great time :)
Favorite coffee cafe in Astoria. This one is the cooperative so it's a little smaller than their other locations but still nicely decorated. I always get the espresso tonic because it's super refreshing and I get the kick I need to get my day started. I haven't tried their other drinks at this location but loved the lattes I've gotten from their other location (also on Steinway). Have to take a star off because the size of the cup for espresso tonic is small (and only 80% filled) compared to a regular ice coffee so it is on the pricey side.
Pretty solid coffee spot. I got here with the intentions of doing some work but came too late :( I got an iced matcha latte and it was pretty good! I'd come back when I need a caffeine fix and I'm around the area
Great staff working there on this day. Convenient and large location, bright inside. I went with a simple cold brew but one of my friends had the cardamom rose latte and I was so jealous that I didn't get it as well! read more
Cute little coffee shop with good coffee in convenient location on Steinway, but no AC. Came in on a hot heat wave day for an iced latte and a cool coffee shop break, but the AC is barely on. I've walked in other times and it's always warm in here. There's one communal round table in the middle of the shop and some side stool bar chairs along the walls. I wish I could like this place more but the limited seats and lack of AC is inconvenient. Also no restroom. read more

The almond croissant is one of the tastiest pastries I've ever had in the neighborhood. Was disappointed by the chai though. Sadly it tasted like water, not a good flavor. I would highly recommend trying the baked goods, though. read more

A lovely quiet place to sit and have coffee. The baristas are always so nice and helpful. I love the way the shop and tables are set up too. read more
Very cute store and good coffee. There seems to be a few of these stores all over Astoria. There isn't a lot of parking. If you want to sit in and drink, you have to show vaccination status. They also have a reward program. read more

Cozy coffee shop on Steinway! Personally, the most visited coffee shop in the area. I usually get their cafe latte. Cute store interior with wooden round communal table in the middle and some space by the window. read more

Kinship brings Stumptown Coffee roasted beans to the local neighborhood! A very ideal stop for coffee lovers after a long day of work, getting off the rush hour subway ride, and just before going home for dinner. The vibe is really relaxing and chill. Everyone from the staff to customers are really friendly. Something about the cafe being so small and seating so close together that makes it so friendly. I can recall countless of times where I feel so comfortable just starting a conversation with the barista or another customer and vise-versa. A tiny coffee shop that brings the community together through enjoying a cup of coffee. Cold Brew is the way to go. Drink it straight black to taste the boldness and it gives you an instant wake up call. Coffee Nirvana? Love it! Admittedly, I love the fact that they are serving Stumptown but at the same time, I am a bit effy. I would like to see Kinship bring in their own coffee that will wear their name instead of someone else's. One day! read more

Love coming here before work. Staff is really nice and I really like the aesthetic they have going on. My last visit I tried the Iced Honey Almond Latte. It was the perfect flavor and not too sweet! Their cold brew is great as well. read more

Stopped in for coffee, got the special they were advertising on the chalkboard on the sidewalk - maple cold brew. Cold brew, maple and half and half over ice. Just the right amount of sweet and great tasting cold brew. Think the sign said they use stumptown? Would def come back. read more
I've been there two days in a row. They have only been open for three. Just a note: ~They opened up the last day of April, which means for now cash only. ~Cold brew coffee $4, Americano $3 just to give you an idea of the prices ~Stan-the-coffee-man, as my other half likes to call him, is one of the owners (his wife being the other) is extremely friendly and down to earth. ~Stumptown coffee now in Astoria :) My roommate will be stoked. ~The store hours (for right now) is going to be 7am-9pm, as they are still trying to see how business goes. On my way to check out a DVD from Redbox (CVS on Broadway) I happen to be looking at the stores on Steinway. By chance, I see a Stumptown Coffee sign through a large glass window, and immediately walk in. You see, Stumptown coffee reminds me of the West Coast (Oregon to be exactly) and I miss it. So to be able to enjoy Stumptown coffee without having to travel to busy-bustling Manhattan brings me joy. The place is cute and simple. The plants and wooden decor bring a relaxing feeling to the place, regardless that it's located on such a busy street. I LOVE the idea that there aren't many outlets. One 4 prong is all I found. Which means people won't be sitting there, sucking up free WIFI FOOOR-EEEEV-EEEER (said like the kid from The Sandlot) Customers will be able to sit, drink a cup of cold brew coffee (my suggestion during the summer days to come) read a book, perhaps do some homework, even just sit at the bar and stare out of the window. I also enjoy the seating. It's just two counters/bar seating and a circle table in the center. As you can see I love simplicity. A coffee shop should offer a place for people to enjoy their coffee, not a place for people to suck free WIFI and turn their table into a work cubicle. Good luck Stan (and his wife who makes the cute adorable plant terrariums) I'm sure you'll do great!! I know I'll be back. PS: My other half is in love with the Americano. To be in love is to wander through a pitch black forest with open eyes. To navigate helplessly, knowing you have no real way of controlling the journey, but to attempt to do so anyway. Kinship Coffee is a kind of version of this. Despite the coffee here being far, far inferior to that which is pulled at the nearby Gossip Coffee, the place is cool, the Dough donuts are amazingly delicious, and the people working here are awesome. This is a glad place. I mean, when it comes to coffee this spot is like a 3 star, maybe even 2, but the scene, the baristas, and the Dough donuts definitely pull this up to a four. I don't know if I will be back here much, but I am glad I found myself here at least once. read more
Location: If you are at Queens comfort for lunch/ dinner, you may also wanna hit this place up! The place is very unique: they embrace artists - they allow artists to put their art work at their store. So for me, when I first stepped into the place, I wanna seat down for enjoy a cozy environment at Queens. Food: they have great selections of bakeries- both croissant wise and donut wise. If you are a stumptom coffee bean fan, this place is a great place for strong coffee lover. To me who hate stumptom, I love they way they brew and make their coffee. The coffee is textured well enough that you wanna to have another one The place is local people's fav spot. People who work here take times with people and enjoy a little chat with random people. Absolutely great additional the 30th Ave and Steinway corner. They serve Stumptown Coffee only at this time - a little bit of Portland in Astoria, New York. Recently opened, Kinship already has a great vibe. Decked out with metal stools and claimed wood bar top, it screams hipster. But my favorite piece? The foot rest along the coffee counter is my favorite find. It's kind of a "Welcome, stay and hang out while you get your drink." read more
