I love myself a good freddo cappuccino! I always base a coffee spot by how well they make one & I was pleasantly surprised at how good the one at Coffee Lab was. I've been meaning to go here for a while, I actually ordered a coffee back on New Year's Day but when I walked in to the cafe, the barista canceled the order & said they were closing early (but were open on all platforms and stated the hours would be till 7 pm on social media) which left a bad taste in my mouth; however I decided to give them a second chance. The place itself is very bright (a lot of light) which I enjoy & there's some room to sit down & work / catch up with a friend. The outdoor dining is a part of the entrance and tented so it's able to be used during the winter time but I recommend possibly adding space heaters so that more people are being accommodated to enjoy their coffee, rather than be forced to take it to-go. All in all, I will definitely be back to try out a pastry! read more

This place is located right at the corner of 31st ave! The coffee is great. You can tell they use high-quality beans. The vibe is cozy but modern, with plenty of seating and outlets to get some work done. Great music, clean space, and fast Wi-Fi. The pastries are all fresh and delicious, after 6 PM they run a 2 for $5 special. My favorite has to be the fig coconut pecan bar. read more

Coffee Lab is, scientifically speaking, exactly what you would want in a coffee shop. Great coffee? Tasty snacks and baked goods? Friendly baristas? Clean space with plenty of seating? Strong wifi? Check, check, check, check, freaking CHECK. It's got it all. It's like it was made in a--wait for it--LABORATORY to be just what I needed. I had a delicious Americano with oat milk light and sweet with a guava and cheese empanada. It was really good. This place is really cute with seating so you can sit back and relax. The service was wonderful, I am not a real coffee drinker so the wonderful server said give it a try and let me know. I had no complaints. I will go again on my journey to work in the mornings. read more

The drinks here are something special. The menu is creative and fun. I've tried the pistachio latte, the rose cardamom chai latte, the biscoff latte, and the matcha guava, and I've loved every single one. You can customize everything about your drink, and they genuinely nail it, if you ask for something less sweet, it comes out at the perfect level. That kind of attentiveness is hard to find. The baked goods are just as impressive. Really well made, and the flavors are interesting in the best way - the rosemary honey biscuit and the cheddar chive scone are both worth trying. Customer service is great too. I had a minor issue with an order and they took care of it right away. Highly recommend! read more

Astoria isn't lacking in coffee shops but it's still nice to see when a new one opens. Coffee Lab is located on the quiet corner of 31st Avenue and 34th Street in Astoria. This is a great place to hang out, work or just people watch. The space isn't huge but the floor to ceiling windows that opens out into the street makes for a very bright and welcoming space. There is free Wifi, plenty of seating (inside and outdoor), really good coffee and friendly staff. Their menu mainly consists of hot & cold drinks and pastries. The iced specialty lattes are really fun and cool flavors; it is true to the name that they experiment with fun flavors! The iced specialty lattes (like biscoff latte) can be very sweet though. If you want to try and maybe aren't a sweet-drink person maybe let the staff know beforehand. I also felt the cream they add to those lattes sticks to the side of the (cold) cup, so next time I would use a spoon to mix it all up within the drink, because the straw isn't a good enough tool for that. The pastry selection is quite expansive, and the two pastries we tried were very good (one savory - spinach pie, and one sweet - croissant). Highly recommend the spinach pie. read more

Overall, I had a mixed experience here. The quality of the coffee can be irksome at best, and the few times I arrived, a regular cup of coffee was okay at best. Basically, it depended on who served me and what time of day I was there. See my photo of my regular coffee The plus side of this new spot is that the owners have turned it into a popular internet cafe, where many spend hours on their laptops doing whatever they do, even holding meetings. They also seem to stay open late, which is another plus of the community on 31st Avenue. The bottom line is that they are a work in progress. read more

This coffee shop is wonderful but the coffee is to expensive and the dessert and sandwich prices are to high The owner of the store should lower the prices and the customers could eat healthy and have lunch with the delicious sandwich that the store has. I don't drink any coffee so I would like to see different varieties of healthy drinks Also the owner of the store should sell the dessert cheaper and we the shoppers could have breakfast not just with coffee but with a dessert sandwich or croissants. I hope that the owner read this message and pay attention to the suggestions so he can save money and not throw the food that can we can not afford and instead we can eat more often, healthier and fresh every day Good luck to this new marvelous place for the young and adult community. read more

Ordered: Iced Freddo Cappuccino (~$5) Iced Latte (~$5): with oat milk (50¢) + sugar-free vanilla (25¢) Aya's take: New coffee shop alert! I love a good coffee shop, especially one that 1) has good espresso, 2) has cute branded cups, and 3) has plenty of natural lighting and seating. The Iced Freddo Cappuccino is a traditional Greek drink that's creamy, foamy, and strong. It has a strong coffee flavor that is mellowed down as you mix the frothed milk more and more. It could use a little bit of sweetness as it isn't really sweet on its own. I wish they recommended that to me or explained the best way to order this. The Iced Latte was very well-made! All the flavors and ingredients came together so well. From the bitterness and richness of the espresso to the sweetness from the sugar-free vanilla to the freshness of the oat milk. I ordered an iced Nutella latte, and on the menu they had a M or L option. But when I ordered the guy just bluntly was like "it comes in large" and nothing else like wym I see a stack of 2 different sized cups behind you? I didn't feel like wasting my breath so I just said fine and took the large cuz maybe the drink was good? Mid at most. I went there to get my espresso and green tea matcha latte as usual and l am writing to formally raise a concern about your staff members during my recent visit to your coffee shop. I found her behavior and appearance to be highly unprofessional and concerning. The staff member in question had long hair that was left untied while handling food and drinks, which raises serious hygiene issues. Additionally, she was noticeably rude to customers, including myself, which made the overall experience very unpleasant. As a paying customer, I expect basic standards of cleanliness, professionalism, and courtesy from the staff. Unfortunately, this incident did not reflect those standards. OMG! This new corner coffee shop is a charm. I knew from a far that it would be an excellent place to try. The baristas here are so friendly and welcoming, despite how busy it was they were so sweet! I got an iced decaf biscoff latte and that was bussing. I never had such a sweet latte that I actually downed in a matter of 10 seconds, lol I'm dramatic but that's how it feels! The cafe itself is chic and super clean. They have many variety for drinks that are probably seasonal so I can't wait to try what else they have to offer. I picked up a Too Good to Go from Coffee Lab a couple of weeks ago and was able to sample a bunch of their pastries through it. The space is really nice. It's white and clean, and it has tables for you to sit and enjoy your order at. The staff were really nice when I arrived. They shared that they were a new business. In my order, I was able to try some muffins, a chocolate pastry, a savory and sweet hand pie, and a marble pound cake. Everything was delicious! I'm excited to go back and try their coffee next time I'm in Astoria. read more

Stopped by for a coffee and pastry late morning on a weekday before doing some errands. There were only a few people sitting down and no line. The cortado I ordered isn't my normal drink so I'm not a great judge of quality there but I enjoyed it along with the chocolate chip scone. My girlfriend and I came here on a Friday, and it was a little busy. The overall ambiance was great and the service was fine. The drinks, however, were quite underwhelming. I ordered the freddo cappuccino and it had way too much steamed milk for my liking (the picture was accurate so that is my own fault...). My gf ordered the pistachio cream latte, and it also had too much of the steamed milk. Not sure what is going on with their inventory! They had the spinach pie like come on it's a Greek neighborhood all the shops have spinach pies and which shops don't carry chocolate croissants??? They suddenly stopped having them! Really disappointing. Also they use to love their matcha latte but they had change in staff and it's disgusting now! The coffee also is not that great the staff is constantly changing and these people don't know how to make coffee. A real let down for the neighborhood . read more

Mango's sponge probably only took up 20% of the bottom, because I barely had bites of it. Most of my bites didn't have any. I didn't like how liquid the filling was. It didn't exactly ooze out but just melted into a puddle in my mouth. Yuzu looks pretty with the pink and yellow glaze, but it didn't go with the realistic fruit theme. I chose it for the flavor combination which is strawberry, yuzu, and guava. This was slightly better in terms of flavor variety in the mouth. The flower on top had a weird off putting flavor. The bottom crispy rice apparently is supposed to be chocolate but it came out plain. It was tasteless anyway, so not effective in terms of flavor or texture.

Still don't understand why it had a lavender color when there was nothing lavender about it. The costumer service was absolutely terrible and really ruined my day honestly. I ordered at the counter and I asked whether there was table service since it was my first time as a costumer and didn't want to be inconsiderate to the staff. I was told there wasn't table service but the counter employee was willing to bring outside in the place where I was sitting. So I kept waiting patiently for my order. This other lady who I didn't place the order with, came out with a big and presumptuous attitude and comes to me, to the COSTUMER "We have been calling your order out for too long now". Since when do you speak to a paying costumer in that way?! In what professional or normal world is this okay? Mind you I paid $25.85 for a piece of bread with two eggs on it and a lavender colored cup of water. In the end, I ended up eating the employee's attitude too. Definitely not coming back. read more

I recently stopped by this café and had a great experience. The atmosphere is warm, clean, and welcoming, making it a perfect spot whether you're grabbing a quick coffee or staying to get some work done. The coffee was excellent--smooth, flavorful, and clearly made with care. What really stood out, though, was the food. Everything tasted fresh, was beautifully presented. The food took a while to come out, but it was worth the wait. It's refreshing to find a coffee shop that puts just as much effort into its food as its drinks. The staff were friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming, which made the visit even better. They were happy to answer questions and made sure everything was just right. If you're looking for a café with great coffee, delicious food, and excellent service, I highly recommend giving this place a try. I'll definitely be coming back! read more

The person taking my order was friendly and he gave me my croissant in a paper bag while another barista made my latte. The drink was milky, sweet, with a good blend of the honey, vanilla, and cinnamon flavors once you give it a stir. The almond croissant was delicious and flaky. I would stop by again when I'm in the neighborhood.
