2026 Boston. Linner review. Fried Lobster Roll Fried with Old Bay seasoning with butter on the side Clam Chowder Small Lobster Bisque Small Overall, some misses, but the bisque was awesome. "I'm a fan."
I think I may have come here on an off day but I would not recommend the lobster rolls. Normally they have pieces of claw and other parts but all that was in ours was nubs of meat. It was very rubbery and dry. The cold roll did not have enough mayo and the hot roll had a weird butter flavor. Bun was ok. Sweet potato fries and fried clams were really good. The lobster rolls just were not good especially for the price. The regular size was 40$. I do like that you can get a half size I think they called it junior if you want something smaller. It was still enough for one person. It is very cute in here. Indoor and outdoor seating. Nothing fancy but charming and local. Servers are nice. There is about 4, free 2 hour parking spaces in the back if you can snag one.
Definitely a spot I enjoyed during my visit to Boston and in particular - the Seaport area. Very tough to find bad seafood and an unpleasant atmosphere in the city of historic downtown Boston. The views along the coast and the harbor are worth it alone aside from the fairly priced menu and drink options. I would definitely recommend the steamers and the Ale or Cider options. Only caveat is I wish the lobster was more affordable in order to be more accessible since the name is Yankee Lobster. Overall the food, the service and the vibes were great. If you're looking for a more private and si tale spot, try somewhere else because people pass by often and a lot of young people swing by to drink and head towards the local bars in the area.
If walking along the Boston Harbor you can stop in like I did just for a snack and walk around the wharf! But they do have outdoor seating and indoor and bar seating and an extensive menu to choose your choice of food and drinks! So the only draw back is you order and sit where you like at the window but for take out is good but if seated I like to have table service! It's not a huge restaurant it's basically a modest restaurant with good fresh seafood and more! Check it out once at Seaport Area!
Been here once before almost 10 years ago. Really enjoyed the food and decided to come back since we're back in town. Not busy at all. Order at the counter and then pick a seat. They give you a number and bring the food to you. Ordered the regular lobster roll +fries, shrimp tacos + fries, crab cakes, and lobster bisque. Everything tasted great. The bisque and roll had huge chunks of lobster meat in them. The shrimp tacos were pretty tasty but admittedly a little overcooked. The crab cake was delish. Service was friendly and quick. This is an order at the counter type of place. The clam chowder and lobster roll was amazing and they even had mocktails that were super tasty!
Great restaurant set up. The line may seem long but I think the space does a really good job of being timely and orderly. The staff were super friendly telling us where to go and what to do, and even remembering our orders after we had left the cashier and sat for 15 min (someone had noticed that we were missing our oysters without us even needing to ask, which I felt very impressed by). Overall I think this restaurant must be pretty great, but perhaps it's because I came in the summertime; I felt like their seafood was a bit lacking. I got the traditional lobster roll with sweet potato fries and a dozen oysters. The oysters though fresh, had very minimal to no flavor, and I buy and shuck oyster myself so I know there's no controlling the oysters you have but when the full dozen doesn't even have one flavorful oyster (especially on the east coast where they have an actual flavor compared to the meaty west coast oysters) it's a little disappointing. Though I like the amount of lemons and sauce that came with the oysters! A very generous/perfect amount The same goes with the lobster roll, the lobster itself didn't have much flavor my initial bite did have that classic New England sweetness. But after that there was no hint of flavor besides the mayo. The staff were honestly really great and I can see the potential in this restaurant but flavor-wise I feel like I just have to try again in the wintertime.

The ordering process is simple: order at the counter, grab a table, and wait for your food. I also wasn't a fan of seeing one of the staff members standing at the bar right next to us eating with an earbud in. It wasn't a huge deal, but it didn't feel very professional. We as in my boyfriend ordered both the cold Maine-style lobster roll with mayonnaise and the warm Connecticut-style lobster roll. The positives: * The bun was a perfect 10/10 soft, buttery, and toasted perfectly. * The lobster tasted fresh. * The lobster-to-bun ratio was decent, although I personally prefer the more generous portions you get in Maine. * The atmosphere was great with baseball on the TVs and a fun Boston vibe. Very seaport forward. The downsides: * The Connecticut-style roll barely had any butter and definitely needed more. * The lobster was slightly overcooked probably by a few minutes which made it a bit tougher than it should have been. * At around $40 per lobster roll, I expected better execution. The clam chowder was also disappointing. I kept wondering where the clams were because I barely tasted any. It was very thick and mostly tasted like corn. Even after adding salt and pepper, it didn't improve much. Overall, I expected more for the price. There were definitely some highlights, especially the bun with fresh lobster and the atmosphere, but the food didn't quite live up to the cost. That said, I'll give it another try because maybe this was just a fluke. I always like giving restaurants a second chance, and I'm hoping this experience was the exception rather than the norm.
Had lunch here on day 3 of Sail Boston and was super impressed with how well they handled the crowds, it was like any other Monday for them. Staff were friendly but efficient. The inside seating area is tiny but the outside seating area was really comfortable despite the heat with 2 big fans going. The place was full but not overwhelmingly crowded. Mains did take a little long but it was to be expected with how busy they were. Food was good, nothing outstanding but nothing bad either. Portions were ok but the kids portion was definitely generous. A solid option and Guy Fieri approved.
Ordered a hot buttered lobster roll ($41) online for pick-up and my order was ready about 5 min after the estimated time. The roll was packed with lobster meat and came with an order of fries that were cooked perfectly as well. The lobster was fresh and tender. Would highly recommend eating the roll ASAP as it does quickly get a bit soggy. There is seating inside for dining-in though appeared to be quite packed and there was a small seating area outside as well. Ended up walking a few minutes to find seating outside by the water which was great.
Spent the weekend in Boston and as expected, we tried lobster rolls at a few different places and Yankee Lobster came out on top.... by a long shot too! You get quality and quantity here. The lobster rolls are thiccckkkk and you are getting a generous amount of lobster. Both the hot and the cold rolls were delicious. The lobster the fresh and seasoned well and the roll itself was perfectly presented. The side of fries was a nice touch too. The food came out quickly, the staff was incredibly friendly, and having both indoor/outdoor seating was a nice bonus!
Stopped in with a relatively large group of 8 after a convention for a taste of Boston lobster. I got a hot lobster roll, and found it much better than others I've had. I would've preferred more sauce or flavor of some kind, but the meat was high quality, although $40. It was a bit hard to accommodate our large group, so note that the restaurant is small, though there is an outside table area. The theming was also super cute. If I was local, I'd consider returning!

It has that casual, no-frills New England seafood shack feel, and the food really delivered. We tried the beer-battered fish & chips, clam chowder, and lobster roll. The fish was excellent--large pieces of fish with a golden, crispy batter on the outside while staying thick, flaky and moist inside. The fries and coleslaw made it a solid meal. The clam chowder was thick, creamy and loaded with potatoes and clam, exactly what I was hoping to find while visiting Boston. The large bowl is definitely enough to share if you're ordering other food. The lobster roll also had a generous amount of lobster meat and didn't need a bunch of extras to make it good. Prices aren't cheap, especially for lobster, but you're getting fresh seafood in Boston's Seaport from a family-owned seafood business that's been around since 1950. The service is great and food brought directly to table. If you're visiting Boston and want a casual place for traditional New England seafood, Yankee Lobster is absolutely worth a stop. I knew I had to stop by and get some lobster rolls before leaving Boston and this place seemed to have pretty good reviews! You order first at the cashier, and then they give you a number and you can go find your seat. It's a pretty busy and lively place and was packed even when we went on a weekday for lunch. To start, I had a half dozen of oysters, which were fresh with a good amount of brine. They didn't blow me away or anything but were good! The part I was most excited for was the lobster roll. We got the hot buttered lobster roll, and to be completely honest it didn't blow me away. The seasoning was lacking to me and there wasn't much depth. I also wish the brioche roll was more buttered and toasty, but ours was mostly soft. The only reason why I didn't knock this down more stars was because they were so generous with their lobster portions, especially for the price! I would give this a 3.5 stars if I could. You could tell it was high quality and those lobsters were well fed! I'd probably come back to try their classic lobster roll just to see if that one is seasoned any better. read more
The selling point of our hotel is the location. It was right across the street from this restaurant. After we dropped our luggages in the room, we went to Yankee Lobster for lunch. I recommend getting there early. We arrived at noon and the line was already out the door. I wanted variety hence I ordered us two different types of lobster rolls and two kinds of soup. I love the traditional mayo lobster rolls. Also, I recommend the clam chowder over lobster bisque. If you are staying in the waterfront area, I encourage to you check out this restaurant. read more

when in boston, you have to get lobster rolls! i came to this one because it's close to my hotel and a lot of people recommended it. we ordered: - lobster bisque - so good. there's a lot of lobster in the soup so it's super worth it. - crabster roll - half crab and half lobster in the roll. there's a lot of meat in there and it's pretty fresh so it definitely satisfied my lobster craving. service was nice too, you order at the counter and then find a seat. there's indoor and outdoor seating. read more

One of my absolute favorite lobster rolls in Boston! I love the casual atmosphere of the restaurant and that you can order at the counter. I think the prices are unbeatable for the amount of good lobster you get. The bun is also very soft and buttery. The fries are very crispy and not too greasy which I really enjoy. Yankee lobster is a hidden gem in the city!! read more

Yankee Lobster on the Waterfront is exactly what you want when you are craving a classic lobster roll. No frills, just big chunks of fresh, delicious lobster tucked into buttery bread. Simple, satisfying, and done right. It is the kind of place that does not try to be fancy, just focuses on quality and flavor. STEPH JUDGEMENT: Great lobster rolls and more. I wanted to get a lobster roll while in Boston and noticed that a trusted Yelp friend gave this place high marks. The place had a rough-hewn charm, with all manner of nautical and Boston-centric decor. I got a traditional lobster roll with fries and the hubby got the plain Mac n cheese. It was already pretty crowded for early dinner, so we got a table out on their pleasant patio. I liked how they used old buoy things for numbers. The lobster roll was delicious--pricey, as most are, but with a generous amount of lobster that wasn't overly goopy on a roll that wasn't overly buttered. Too bad the fries weren't terribly fresh. The hubby's Mac and cheese was good, if a bit on the bland side. A bit of hot stuff cured that right up, though. The lobster roll was the star--as it should be. read more

This elegant "shack" was highly recommended by our concierge and turned out to be a great and impressively authentic place to get a seafood meal. Its location near the harbor contributed to that aura. We visited on a weekday evening and it was a bit busy. The indoor seating was somwhat modest with respect to capacity. There was also some outdoor and patio seating available, but eating indoors was our preference. We indeed managed to find a spot to enjoy our meal inside. The format here is walk-up-and-order. We found the service to be friendly, efficient and knowledgeable. There were several great menu choices, but we decided on their signature Lobster Roll. It was not cheap ($40.99), but it was a great choice! It did come with fries. We also tried the Calamari, which was great as well. Both were very tasty. I had the House Wine to drink, which was a nice accompaniment. My wife had a Diet Coke. With food, drinks, tax and tip, our total was $88. At $44 each with no leftovers to take away for a supplemental meal, in most cases I would question the value given that this was a very informal dining experience. However, the fact that this was a special and a somewhat iconic experience for us during our Biston visit still made it worth the cost. I'll also note that it would have been easy to eat significantly cheaper if we had avoided the lobster. But the lobster was indeed why we went there, and I would say it was worth it for a special treat. We may not be as extravagant on our next visit. read more

Is this place still coasting on its name? I fear to say yes there was nothing spectacular about here. We had pulled lobster seamer clams and the crab lobster roll. Plenty of parking stamps. OK you grab your own food though. It's not like they have to do a ton which is OK it works for the business. Had a soda and sat there and try to enjoy myself, but I just felt like it wasn't anything that was oh my God how awesome was it to come here? Maybe I'm missing the mark because I saw a lot of people just having the fried food. read more

Traditional lobster roll was 10/10 as were the fries that came with it. Up until now, I thought I was team hot lobster rolls....but this one might've made me change my mind. Vibes were immaculate, playing great 90s RnB throwbacks albeit a bit small of a restaurant as a whole and not great for large groups. You can tell this place serves a lot of seafood because when you pass by the kitchen on the way to the restroom, it smells fishyyyyyyyy like a fish market, whew! read more

I went to Yankee Lobster during a Boston trip this year and i'm so glad this stop was on the itinerary! The lobster roll was absolutely delicious. You can pick either a hot or cold roll and market prices (can get pretty pricing but that's expected for lobster rolls) The atmosphere was cool too. The patio-ish area is gorgeous with lots of light and greenery. A must try spot in Boston! read more
Stopped by for a quick bite with friends and tried the lobster rolls. I got the Junior size, and my friend got the regular, which looked almost identical but was $10 more, so keep that in mind. (Unless they messed up and gave her the wrong size without realizing). That said, the lobster roll itself was delicious, and the clam chowder was flavorful. I was STUFFED at the end of this. The owner/manager was friendly and attentive. When I come to Boston I'll consider lobster rolls either here or Quincy Market because Quincy market does have a great atmosphere outside the shop, whereas Yankee doesn't in that one spot. read more

10/10 great introduction to Boston seafood scene. Went here right off the plane fresh out of the car rental location. Prices were fair and the food was worth every penny. Lobster meat was succulent and fresh, it's real butter for dipping and crispy fries! I am not a soggy fry eater and forgot to ask for the really crisp the fries so I was excited when the fries came out hot and crisp with a snap on the outside and fluffy inside. Also the shrimp cocktail serving was amazing! The server/cashier was very helpful as I had never been there before and explained the menu. They were nice and helpful and smiled. Even when it got a little crazy as a graduation let out and it got crowded they made it work. Very fluid operation. I'd eat here again. read more

A must Stop in Boston! Look at all of that Lobster! They pile it high and it doesn't disappoint. The clam chowder is absolutely delicious! Food came out fast and service was excellent. The main area has a small bar and few tables, but outside and next door has extra tables to accommodate a decent amount of guests. read more

Went to Yankee Lobster and got the hot buttered lobster roll with fries and a medium lobster bisque. The lobster roll was really good. Simple, buttery, and packed with lobster without trying to do too much. Fries were solid too. The standout was easily the lobster bisque. Honestly the best lobster bisque I've ever had. Really rich flavor without being overly heavy, and you could actually taste the lobster instead of just cream. Definitely worth stopping by if you're in Boston and want a straightforward seafood spot. read more

The fries were perfectly crispy too and well seasoned. I've never had a lobster roll before, so this was a good sample to one. Only downside is it is a bit pricey at MKT price. I came here after I landed in Boston as it's pretty close. I got the hot buttered lobster roll which was market price ($41) and it came out in about 10 minutes. The fries were freshly cooked and the lobster was amazing! Given the price is definitely steeper, I was glad to see they gave a good portion corresponding to it price. The actual lobster was a bit sweet . The staff were friendly and with its location allows you to people watch. Definitely one of the better lobster rolls I've had, which also could've been due to the amount of lobster you get on the roll. Definitely worth checking out! I like this place enough to keep coming back! I usually get a hot, buttered lobster roll, but opted for a traditional one this time. I actually ended up enjoying the herb mayo and bit of lettuce at the bottom a lot! Price-wise, it's more expensive than what I've seen further out from the city (this one was about $40 for one), but you can't go wrong with Yankee Lobster if you're visiting and want to eat a good-sized lobster roll and then walk around Seaport after. We also got the whole belly clam box, which was good overall even if some of them were on the chewier side. We opted to sit outside, since it was nice and it was fun to watch everyone walking by/around. All of the staff was nice as well, so we had no issues with service. Overall, this is an easy place to recommend, even if it might be a bit more expensive than going out of the city for your lobster roll craving. Lobster roll was fantastic--so much meat! If we had only gotten lobster rolls then this would have been a 5! The lobster roll came with so many fries which was a nice surprise. Not that we needed them. We also got the steamers but they had so much sand so we took off a star. Lobster rolls were market price so they ultimately price can be a bit of sticker shock. But worth it. Always worth it. Staff knew how to create a fun vibe. Great music and overall joyful people. If we lived locally we would frequent again. read more
