Although we enjoyed seeing one whale breach, and several spouters, our time was cut short. We were told the trip would be from 7am to 10:30/11:00 am, the boat captain headed back to shore at 9am. Wish for the price that was paid could have stayed for the time they told us. First mate was cool, as was the crew. read more

Great operation. We spent 5 days diving on Molokai with MF&D and they were fantastic. Tim is a very knowledgeable captain, knowing all the good places to dive. Our dive master was Gianna. She was also very good but liked to go too fast for our taste (we dive slow to see the small stuff). In her defense, it was likely because there were no mooring buoys at the dive sites so the boat had to drop anchor in most areas. They always did so carefully, so I think that meant we weren't on top of the dive site and had a short swim to get to the really interesting areas. The quality of the reefs were outstanding, as good or better than anywhere else we've been to in Hawaii. We will definitely return to see everything we missed on our first trip. Gasoline at a dive shop? Well, it kinda make sense, because if you need gas for your boat, this would be a good place to fill up, granted I don't own a boat, but filling up your rental car at - "Molokai Fish and Dive" will do just fine! In Kaunakakai town, there are just two gas stations. Your options are either the Texaco as you turn into Kaunakakai town, or Molokai Fish & Dive which is situated in the heart of Kaunakakai. I elected to get my gas from Molokai Fish and Dive, because I figured it's good to help out a local business. Although they only had 4 gas pumps at their gas station, it was more than enough gas pumps to satisfy the MolokI community. It appears besides selling gas here, this business looks like they do boat/dive tours. Went for a whale watching tour today. Tim gave us a great lesson in humpbacks before we left. We came across a mom and calf first which was cool. Captain Tim and crew took us on a breathtaking snorkeling tour. We had two stops both were amazing. We saw many friendly turtles in their natural habitat eating and swimming. We saw a group or squadron of mana rays which was really cool. A group of the snorkelers got a close up view. I decided to stay on the boat with one of the crew who had a drone to guide the snorkelers where to swim. Saw many beautiful tropical fishes, a large eel (head as large as human)! It came out of its cave and it was about 6ft long. I'm guessing ..and fat! We saw a white tip shark, many milk fishes etc etc! Totally worth it..we also had perfect weather and the ocean was clear and calm. read more

Believe it or not but it was my first time doing any under-water activities like scuba and snorkeling and I couldn't have asked for a better captain than Captain Tim and divemaster Annea who is amazing! Captain Tim is very knowledgeable and knows what he does, and Annea is extremely talented and professional. She has a very keen eye and is always on the lookout while on the ocean, which is very reassuring. We went on 4 different tours with them - snorkelling, sunset boat ride, scuba diving and whale watching. We went on a whale watching tour on New Year's and for the first hour we couldn't find any. But he wouldn't give up lol and thanks to him for exploring in the right directions, we finally saw a lot of whales! Annea helped us look out for turtles and coral life during snorkelling. We saw a bunch of huge sea turtles and colorful marine life. They briefed us well and taught us all the safety protocols before diving. Captain Tim held my hand the entire time during scuba diving since I was a beginner and I felt very safe. He was very patient with me! They were also very kind enough to accommodate the dates since I had hurt my leg. We had very safe and exciting adventures with them. Highly recommend them! The crew was very helpful, my wife was scared to go and ready to cancel! The girls saw the scared look in her eyes right away and made sure every step she was so comfortable. They let her settle down in the water with extra life ring tied to the boat then half hour later Hillary actually toke my wife herself up to see all the collar, fish and even good size turtles. AWESOME! Tim and Gabe were great instructors. Gabe gave us great training in the pool, explained all the safety steps and procedures in case of emergency and helped us get familiar with all the gear. After that it was straight to the open water. We trolled around til they found some clear water and we jumped right in. Tim helped us get acclimated to the depth and there was a lot of neat fish and very up close coral. We brought our GoPro camera and it worked out great. Highly recommend them if your on island. FOOD REVIEW ONLY!!! This is for Ono Fish & Shrimp in the parking lot of Molokai Fish and Dive. I am not sure if it's the same company. There does not appear to be a separate business on here. Molokai Fish and Dive has a little trailer just to the left of the main building (when facing from the street) that sells lunch from 10am - 3pm from Wed - Sat. THIS IS THE BEST FOOD ON THE ISLAND!!! No lie. I wish they were open everyday. It's a low-frills food truck type of place. They use fish caught from the fishing excursions. We learned this from Captain Tim during our snorkeling adventure. Order at the window. Take it to go or eat at picnic tables behind the trailer. They bring it out to you if you dine on-site. I had the taco plate which consists of two tacos with a hot or mild sauce, spanish-style rice, and choose from a salad or kimchee cucumbers. I chose fish and shrimp tacos with the hot sauce and the kimchee cucumbers. The tacos were EXCELLENT! The fish and shrimp were grilled. They were served on corn tortillas (important to someone needing gluten free). In addition to the hot sauce, they come with sliced red cabbage and a mango pico. The spanish rice was basically basmati with some chili powder. Simple, but tasty. The kimchee cukes were tasty as well. My wife had the daily special - grilled freshly caught ono with a garlic sauce, white rice and the kimchee cucumbers. Again ... they nailed it! The fish was cooked perfectly. It was the quality of something from a high-end seafood restaurant. No old or dirty fish taste. The sauce was a great accent to it. I wish we had known about this place during our first week on Moloka'i. We would've hit them up at least a couple more times. This is a must stop for everyone on the island - local or visitor! read more

We booked a snorkel trip through Molokai Fish and Dive and had a terrific day! There was only one other couple in group which made for a far more personalized experience. We were able to visit two different sites along the huge barrier reef of Molokai's southern shore. The variety of marine life is endless. From over twenty species of butterfly fish, to the state fish Humuhumunukunukuapua'a, there is something for everyone. We also had the luck of swimming alongside tons of sea turtles, definitely my boyfriend's favorite part! The corals exhibit a wide of array of colors from yellow, to blue, to lavender. Have experienced other snorkel adventures in Hawaii this was one of the better excursions. It seemed as if we had the entire ocean to ourselves. We could snorkel at our leisure and weren't surrounded by a hundred other snorkelers splashing about. The crew provided drinks, snorkel gear, and wet suits. Even with the warm tropical water the wet suits were great! Wearing them allowed us to snorkel about longer without getting chilled as quickly. Make sure to bring a towel, sunglasses and sunscreen! It can be very sunny and windy while traveling to and from the various sites. Check out Molokai Fish and Dive, they are sure to please! read more

Our family of 4 had 2 tremendous dives today. 6 divers total and 6 snorklers. There was plenty of room on the USCG certified boat. Gabe is a great dive master. We went to a turtle cleaning station. We decided somewhat last-minute to go snorkeling and diving and were happy that we were able to go on one of the excursions with Molokai Fish and Dive. Danny and Gabe were super nice and really knowledgable, teaching us a lot about the natural life in the area. I did a one-tank dive before joining my husband on the second stop to go snorkeling. The dive was really relaxed but not TOO relaxed - they made sure we did everything properly - checking the certification cards, pre-dive safety checks, reviewing hand signals, etc. That was especially nice for me since I was a little rusty. Gabe was patient and let me take the time I needed to re-acclimate to SCUBA. Snorkeling was really fun, too. We saw sooooo many turtles! We had such a fun time! Highlight of the trip!!! read more

My husband and I had a great time with Danny and Gabe on our snorkel excursion! They were interested in showing us all the cool stuff and were so friendly. We saw manta rays, tons of spotted eagle rays, huge turtles, and tons of fish. My husband and I live on Oahu so we get to snorkel in tropical waters all the time, but I still think this trip is definitely worth it. Fine. The reef is healthy. Mostly saw the usual suspects. The boat was solid. My main issue was they had piles of broken fins. Piles. I felt lucky to find a pair that wasn't split down the middle. We also dove some reef then went on longish swims across barren sand on two different dives. Seemed odd. I did find myself wondering what we were doing. I wouldn't go out of my way to dive there again. I'm glad the reef looked fairly healthy. If you're there anyway and have the time give it a thought. read more

I really enjoy Molokai Fish and Dive! They are a great little company with the Aloha spirit, so they fit in perfectly on the Friendly Island. I have gone on four boat trips with them so far (8 dives total in June and December), and I am definitely looking forward to my next chance to dive with them! I've had the pleasure of diving with both Tim and Gabe, both of whom are excellent divers who will guide you to amazing spots on this beautiful 30 square-mile coral reef. Sometimes (typically in the off-season) they may not get enough divers signed up to justify taking the boat out on a given day. Oh well, that's just the way it is on quiet Moloka'i! It's a small operation, like everything else on the island, which suits me just fine. I'm not into the tourist scene or big crowded boats. What I am into is quality diving with capable, friendly folks who are familiar with the area and will do their best to give you the chance to have a great dive experience. That's just what Molokai Fish and Dive delivers! Oh, and be sure to stop at the Ono Shrimp and Fish shack back at the shop after your dive for a delicious lunch! read more

We just came back from a great vacation on Molokai. Unfortunately we did not do any diving since Molokai Fish & Dive is the only dive company available. We booked a snorkel trip with them first-thinking it was a good way to check them out before booking a bunch of dives. Boy were we glad we did. The snorkel trip was just ok. The first site they took us to had horrible visibility. Instead of going somewhere else they made us stay there for 40 minutes. Here's a suggestion ...maybe send Gabe in first to evaluate the viz before sending everyone in. That way if viz is bad you can go to a different site ...I mean we are in a boat so we could actually move to a different site. The second site was great- we saw turtles, an eagle ray and a Manta ray. Visibility was 80+feet like you expect in Hawaii. The swim step was broken so we had to get out of the water without it. And the owner's daughter sat at the back of the boat and watched everybody struggle to get back in the boat without offering to help. We are used to dive operators like the ones on Maui and the Big Island that are incredibly helpful so it didn't make us happy. We also spoke to the two divers that were on the boat with us and they were not happy with their dives or their rental equipment. Needless to say... We decided to save our money. We did several snorkel trips right off the south shore beaches and saw lots of fish. We will come back to Molokai but unless things change or another dive operator comes in we will dive elsewhere. read more
