Went and had a beer at Ventura Coast brewing Company... there beers r amazing, especially there IPA and pale ale!!! BUT, if u buy beers u also have to purchase a $5 food ticket to buy food , totally understandable due to covid! The only food u can purchase is from the "Mom and Pops Taco" truck outside. We love "street tacos", and have had many from different places within Ventura and Oxnard. These were the absolute worst street tacos we have ever had... especially there asada!! See my pictures... so flippin greasy and gristly, fatty and absolutely no flavor but grease!! My husband ordered an asada burrito, and he said it was so greasy and had no taste at all, that he had to go get there hottest salsa. I came home and pooped my brains out... sorry, but true! The worst quality meat I have ever had!! As u can see in my pictures.. I was pulling apart the so called "meat" and it literally was grissle and fat... flippin disgusting!! You know that they took over (bought?) El Rey Ventura, and that is why we have not been to "El Rey" since mom and pops took over!! We used to go to El Rey (ventura) at least once or twice a week. The prices are really steep for what you're getting and the flavor isn't all the way there. I got the burrito and tried one of every taco, i spent around $25 for all of this. I really wouldn't have minded spending as much if the tacos lived up to it. The taco meat wasn't as flavorful as i thought itd be. The burrito was okay but nothing really special. The mango salsa was a bit strange, not really spicy at all and just tastes like a sugary sauce rather than a mango salsa. The red sauce tasted burnt but prety spicy.. The green sauce added flavor and spice, that was definitely my favorite out of the 3 sauces offered. I ended up going with a friend to Topa Topa and Mom and Pops tacos were there. I ended up getting a carne asada and pastor taco. I have heard a lot of amazing things about the mango salsa which they ran out of, so I got the red and green instead. I was a little nervous because I typically don't like spicy salsa but the red was spicy but not too hot. I was also concerned because my pager wasn't going off and the taco truck was completely empty. The chef ended up coming and bringing my tacos and apologized for the pager malfunction. These tacos hit the spot for me. I came across this rather fun and whimsical-looking food truck while it was sitting in the parking lot of Ventura Coast Brewing last night. The graphics on the truck were beautiful and colorful, kudos to whomever designed the vehicle wrap. The menu was small but effective. I ordered three street tacos at $3 apiece which seems to be the going rate. There were a few ladies working the truck and the line wasn't too bad. The young woman whom had assisted me seemed a bit jaded as as if she'd rather be elsewhere. I guess I'd have the same sort of attitude if I were working on a Friday evening, too. I was provided with a little device that would buzz when my food was ready. It reminded me a lot of a pager which brought me back to the '90s for a moment. The food only took a few minutes to prepare, and ended up being very tasty. I ordered one taco in each meat option, all were equally as delicious and the salsa verde was the ideal complement. I'm lucky enough to run into this food truck often, as they frequent all of my favorite breweries in Ventura county. They make excellent food and are very quick, also great prices. They have a pretty neat reward system which builds up points over time. Checked out the Grand Opening night for the Mom and Pop's Taco Truck in the parking lot of Sam's Saticoy Liquor. It was very popular, complete with a DJ. I've never seen such pomp and circumstance for a taco truck. They offer three types of meats, Asada, Pollo, or Pastor. Apparently they got slammed because they were out of everything but Asada. I got an Asada taco, just to try it out. It was fresh, delicious, and flavorful. Also, the taco was very juicy in a good way. It left a little bit of delicious, thick meat juice on the plate and I admit I ate that, too. I ordered it "with everything" which included onions, cilantro and green salsa. I requested radishes and forgot to ask for a lime as I assumed it would be included. It could have used the lime. This review is a bit premature as I would have liked to try the other meats, especially as I am an Al Pastor man, so I may update when I come back. Service was very friendly but slow because they were very busy. Also, Mom and Pop actually work here. Pop was working the grill and Mom was dressing the tacos. 4 stars as the taco was very good and it is a nice, clean, brand new entry into the Ventura taco truck scene. Recommended. read more

Food was good.. when it comes out right. I am vegetarian so I ordered a quesadilla with no meat, and opted for the onions and cilantro. Got a quesadilla with chicken, and unfortunately didn't notice until I took a bite. We tried to get it fixed but was met with really poor service. The girl was incredibly rude and didn't help at all. Was given a plain quesadilla thrown on a plate with no onions and cilantro. I also ordered guacamole and never received it. The customer service was garbage. I tried an asada and a chicken taco while on a date night at MadeWest Brewery (I think they're actually parked there quite often?) and WHOA, I couldn't stop talking to my husband about them. I was being straight up annoying. It has the street taco vibe with the onion/cilantro mix, but then the chicken was amped up with some completely ridiculous sauce to which I don't know the name, and the asada with the side of guac and crema that I got was...like I said, bomb. Writing this review as I nom away on some bomb carne asada tacos. Being Latina, I've had way more tacos than i can count so I know what a good quality taco is. The cilantro and onion are nice and fresh, the limes are nice and juicy, and the rábanos had a great crunch to them so I knew they were fresh. The tortillas had a good taste to them and the carne was nice and juicy. I paid $6 for 3 tacos- gentrified "Mexican" places can't even compete with those prices. They make it look great like the tacos are stuffed the options are endless when in reality I came today and they have three meats to choose from? Asada chicken and pastor. Where's the cabeza, lengua, etc. Anyways I just went basic and got a quesadilla with asada. But it's more like a quesadilla w three Pieces of meat thrown in there. I was trying to get a girl's attention by standing by the register and saying "hello" but instead she had her back turned to me and on her phone with only one earphone in her ear. I'm cool with her being on her phone but come on at least acknowledge someone who is trying to get your attention from no more than 6 feet away from you. I had paid for a side of guacamole and asked for salsa as well. Didn't receive any. I thought maybe they have forgotten since they are slammed, so I empathized and tried asking for some. A rude woman, whose stand out features were her tattoos, acknowledges and asks, "what do you want?" I simply ask for salsa. With a tone and a face she replies, "what?" I repeat myself. She then goes back to her work station and doesn't bother getting back to me. I'm not trying to be a Karen, but damn. I have worked shitty jobs and dealt with shitty customers, but I at least try to take some pride in my work and especially don't try to be rude knowing well I may work a job that requires me to deal with people. To make things worse, seems like I paid for rice and beans. The burrito was cold, poorly wrapped, and again only rice and beans. Barely any carne. Save your money and go somewhere else. read more

Friday the 13th I was going down the 118 and saw this cute decked out taco truck and a huge line that followed. Long lines, mean bomb food. So yesterday after a long day of shopping I got hungry and thought I'd give this place a try. Mom & Pops both work here and everyone was so friendly; that alone made me love this place. I ordered two tacos, chicken & asada, and one asada/pastor burrito. All the meats had a lot of flavor and just the right amount of juice to leave you wanting more.
