On Friday May 29, 2026 Sonic Automotive Momentum BMW, BMW of West Houston and Warren Hodge refuse to sell a X7 m60i Show Room Model vehicle that we were approved to purchase, George the sales guy structured a deal and we were set to sign, after being approved for financing through BMW for $140,000, they refuse to sell the vehicle. They have avoided communication from us, their customer relations Rachael and BMW customer relations Donna. Aries from BMW Genius reached out to Sonic Automotive Momentum BMW and stated she spoke with Jordan from Sonic Automotive Momentum BMW, he responded to her stating they don't feel comfortable with selling to us. Momentum and BMW West states Sonic Automotive does not want to sell the vehicle to us and it's a management decision. It appears they have discriminatory practices. A letter has been sent to Sonic Automotive customer relations Rachael Z. requesting that she forward and deliver the email and it's complete attachments to David Burton Smith, Heath R Byrd, Marcus G, Jeff Dyke, William Belk, Keri Kaiser and Michael Hodge with the intent to gain their cooperation and empathy to remedy this matter, it's approaching week two and still there's no response. We came to them to purchase a family vehicle, BMW has been a brand that we have grown in, my wife's late father owned a BMW V12 740 LI back in 1991. This was supposed to be a full circle moment. That now my father would own a BMW chariot to carry his legacy around in Sonic Automotive brand has ruined it! My father is a hard-working man, he may look rough and exhausted, but he worked his whole life, paid his debts and duty to society, and he has a right to the pursuit of happiness regardless to someone's personal judgment of his appearance. This is gross dereliction of duty from Sonic Automotive. We will continue to escalate this matter to the point of resolve. read more

Just did our 4th lease with this dealership (also purchased one car for our daughter). Dealership has always been knowledgeable and helpful. This time my wife was REAL SPECIFIC on what she wanted in the car and as a result we had to special order the vehicle. Heads up, if you want to special order a vehicle PLAN AHEAD!!! We reached out to Mini end of November, hoping to get the vehicle ASAP. Turns out dealership only gets a limited quantity of special order vehicles (their allotment) each month. Even though it was still November, their allotment for DECEMBER was ALREAY SPOKEN FOR!!! We had to wait for January for the order to be placed and it took until the end of February for the vehicle to arrive. I like the car I bought, but the service was extremely slow for buying a very specific vehicle I had already picked out, and they were not transparent on pricing. I was charged $800 more than I expected, as I was told 2 of the fees from the Sales Price would be deducted (they were not). I made it clear several times I wanted to see the updated sales price before taxes, fees etc. The transaction focused only on the OTD price, and the finance office transaction was shady for several reasons. In the end I was charged more than expected for this car. I have not been able to get ahold of the sales person or anyone at the dealership who will reason. I just want the $800 back. When I took my mini in for a state inspection, they ended up giving me a service I did not ask for, not to mention replacing my air filter for almost $200. They did not perform the state inspection as I had asked and instead did a "vehicle check" for over $200. I wondered why it was so expensive but trusted them to do as I asked. I like the car I bought, but it was a horrible experience - worst I've had in about 20 years! we were there 6.5 hours, and less than 30 minutes of that was test driving. the rest was waiting. my salesperson was still busy for an hour after I got there for my appointment, it was just wait, wait, wait for everything. Disappointed would be kind. It's been over a month of my dash cutting out. I have no speed or fuel data. They knew I was driving across West Texas and told me that if I could provide a video of this occurring they could fix it. They didn't accept the 8 videos I sent and asked for another. My wife got a nail in her tire. She got to the dealership at 12:30 on a Wednesday. She was told it would take 1 1/2 hours so she opted out of the shuttle and or Uber ride. She was 1 week out from her 1 year warranty so that 1 nail cost her $450 for 2 new tires (they said for safety reasons she HAD to get 2, even though the tires are BARELY a year old) and waits over 5 hours! So maybe being out of the warranty by 7 days is just bad luck, ok we paid for 2 tires but if it was going to take 5 hours then just say so! She would have taken the Uber. Great experience, staff approach was warm and welcoming. Service bay storefront and snack bar was immaculate. It takes a great leader to lead, and it's seen throughout every staff member. The high values in which they display to their customers. Driver was very respectful of myself as the passenger and others on road in transit. This company is a complete joke!! I received a call from the manager of this dealership which is where I originally purchased my car in 2012. He continued to talk about whether it was fair or not for me to leave a review on his Facebook page for something he hasn't done and a chance I haven't given them to fix my car. The woodlands Mini and this momentum mini dealership I have called many times about strange things I was worried about with my car from sounds I'm hearing and concerns I had from reviews I read on maintenance issues on the mini coopers. No one would listen and then the problem with Mini is that they have recalls on certain cars but yet the problem is with all the cars. Now that my car is badly messed up because of all the crap that is wrong with the mini coopers, this guy have the nerve to call me about a freaking review I left on his Facebook page!! He continued to talk over me saying he wanted to help but yet all he was doing was making the matters worse by continually referring to his Facebook page. I would never buy another mini ever again!! Another caveat, there are two add-ons that come out to about $750 that they don't tell you about up front but spring on you when you get ready to buy. They have standard salad and sandwich there for lunches, with daily specials like a tenderloin with asparagus and mashed potatoes. I have only had the breakfast, and it was okay--bacon and eggs. A good price, though I was disappointed that they only have cheap (sub-Heinz) ketchup which kind of kills the meal. OK, you're probably not going to go here to eat in the canteen (which is kind of cool if you are waiting), so let's talk about the cars. Their sales department was helpful, as I test drove MINIs here. MINIs are pretty much at retail unless you get something off the lot that no one else wants. At the time I was purchasing, I lived in New Orleans and checked out the options in Houston but went with my home state for convenience. Now that I'm here, I use the service department. Overall they are very good, friendly, and on top of things. MINI/BMW service is generally a bit pricey and slow compared to other cars but it's the nature of the machine. They have a shuttle which will take you nearby, and loaners (in theory) for major repairs. As I've not had a major repair I haven't partaken of one. Free (slow) WiFi in the waiting area is a plus. How do you expect to sell cars if you won't let people drive them before they buy it??? I Went to test drive two JCW cars. The manager came in looked at me offered a drink then walked away. I saw her grab the salesman who was getting ready to let me drive the car. He came back and said his manager refused to let me drive it without going through the purchase process because "they have so few of them". I'm not saying the manager felt any type of way about me or the way I looked, but it was a very weird feeling. I refuse to buy a car I haven't driven Or Buy one from people who judge for some unknown reason. The salesman had already took my license and made a copy before the manager stopped him. I had a flat tire on saturday and called roadside mini to have it towed. After waiting, a couple hours, my car was towed to the dealership, so I called to let them know it was coming. They informed me that although it was going to get there around 2:00, it would not be ready that day. Being that it was a weekend, I understood and just said that I'd come pick it up when they were open on Monday. Roadside assistance had let me know that they'd provide an Uber to get me to the dealership on Monday when it was ready, so I thought I was set. Monday rolls around and I don't hear anything. I texted and called about 3-5 times for updates and was told every time that they'd get back to me shortly. They finally called me around 5:30 and said that they had just checked out my tire and discovered they didn't have a replacement. They said they'd order it and that I should be able to pick it up the following day. Tuesday comes and goes and I hear nothing. Finally, less than an hour before they close, they tell me it's ready, which didn't leave enough time for me to actually get there on time before they closed. An update would have been kind of nice so I could've rescheduled my day to work around being available to get over there around 6:00. By this point, I was extremely frustrated as I had missed a few days of work in the office because of this and also couldn't get get the Uber provided by roadside assistance anymore, because it went over the 48 hour period. On Wednesday and after a pricey Uber ride I finally got there. I had to wait about 15 minutes, which I didn't mind, but during that time, I saw them failing other customers, as well. One lady was rightfully upset because she called ahead to make sure they had loaner vehicles available and was told they did, so she scheduled her service for that day specifically. When she got there, they told her they didn't have anything for her. She tried to nicely speak to one of the women behind the concierge desk and was rudely responded to. The lady behind the counter kept saying, "I don't know who you spoke with, wasn't me, wasn't me. I don't know what to tell you, I wasn't the person you talked to." Instead of just pointing her in the right direction. It was ridiculous. The techs in the garage and the people in sales have always been nice and helpful, but this last experience about sent me over the edge. read more

Please let me take this opportunity to give feedback on my experience with Momentum MINI. I recently left my Mini with my daughter, while I was away for two weeks. She was happy to take it into Momentum MINI in Houston for basic servicing. My instructions were simply to reset the computer and perhaps change the oil, etc., if it appeared to need it. She was clear on these instructions to Jorge, the service person there. I also spoke with him by phone and told him I only wanted the basics done, didn't have a great deal of money to spend on extra things. He listened, at least I thought so. My daughter sent me an estimate of things that Jorge wanted to do, including many things I felt unnecessary such as environmental cleaning, etc. I wrote her and Jorge back when I received the email (5 hours time difference) to say no....not to do any of the things on his list. He did them anyway!!! I was charged $1,300 for a lot of nonsense...and the computer wasn't even addressed or fixed!!!! Couldn't believe it. Then, he wanted another $1,000+ to work on the computer. I was/am livid. Not sure what I paid for...but it was UNNECESSARY, in my opinion, and NOT what I took the car into Momentum MINI for. I am very upset and disappointed in this dealership. And now, when I call the Baton Rouge office ( I live in Lafayette, LA), I find that there is NO ONE in this state that will even work on my car. I have had good service before from Momentum, but never again will I enter their establishment. Again....I feel really abused and let down by these people. I have been a faithful customer for years, they even know me by name. It was great until, I took my car in for repairs, picked it up and the windshield was cracked when I went to pick it. They admitted they it happened in their care, although they claimed that it was "an act of God" and not covered. I contacted, the service manager Winston Long, general manager John Sharp and even the Dealer Principle, Thomas Kuranoff (over both Mini and BMW) and the best they would offer is to split the charges to replace the windshield. I could not believe their LACK OF INTEGRITY!!!! If you break something that belongs to someone else, the less you can do is fix it!!!! Do not trust Momentum Mini or BMW, they cannot be trusted!! Absolutely awful experience. After test driving the car I wanted, one the sales people quoted me a reasonable price. I agreed as it was the exact monthly payment I was looking for. Both the sales person and I seemed satisfied with the deal. The papers were drawn up at a rate 3 dollars more than my quote. I was unconcerned with this discrepancy. The sales person left without any explanation, and after an hour and a half of waiting in silence, I inquired about the status of my paperwork with the receptionist as my salesperson now seemed engaged with other customers. 10 minuets later the sales manager, and not the sales person, appeared to close the deal. However, instead of providing the closing documents as expected, she instead quoted me a substantially higher price. The entire situation was simply bizarre. It was some malformed version of the good cop / bad cop routine. When I told the sales manager that I was quoted a specific price, I first told there was nothing that could be done. I was then told that I should select a different, less expensive car. She attempted several excuses and different offers, however she would not give me the original offer. To be honest, it was the most sleazy sales environment I have ever encountered. I expect car sale people to behave...well...like people who sell cars. This, however, was beyond awful. F minus. - Update - To clarify, I left without a car. - Second Update - I am thrilled to report that, while this dealership is unbelievably awful, there are options. I found the sales people at Mini of Clear Lake to be fantastic. It is a bit of a hike but well worth it. The sales people were friendly, knowledgeable, and MOST IMPORTANTLY, didn't try to jack up the price at the last minute. Also, the price at Clear Lake was better than the offer Momentum originally reneged on. So unless bad salespeople, bad management, and bad prices are your thing, go elsewhere. read more

I've had a Mini since 2004 (3 different ones) and I've had my share of visits to the Mini service department. You are always kindly greeted by the receptionist. The service advisors are very nice and always thoroughly go over details of your car. Before it's put into to service or released by to you after the service has been completed. The entire service team from the techs to the service manager knowable and accommodating to your service needs. I've even called up one time when my car had a check engine on and Mike (service advisor) was able to get me in, fix it within an hour (battery issues). Another time was able to bring my car in when I got a low tire warning light (piece of metal suck in my tire); the service team took care of me the same day within two hours. The service area does have a nice couch but it's better to head toward the sales side of the building because there is a nice waiting area that also has a small café (with seating and a tv). There is always free coffee and water which is a plus if you need your caffeine fix in the morning while dropping of your car. They do offer a shuttle service as well as a loaner depending on how long your car will be in the shop for. Scheduling a loaner car usual makes you schedule your service a few weeks in advance due to the number of loaner cars available. The shuttle is fast, efficient, driver is nice and you always get to ride in a new BMW. The service manager (Mr. Bui) and the service team are focused on customer service and making sure everything is resolved before your MINI leaves. No doubt, I'll be back for service my MINI. read more

"Minis do not float" The service makes you feel like a king. I bought my MINI a year ago and every time I take the car to get service Johnny Nguyen makes my visit extremely pleasant and worry free. I know that my car is in great hands. Just this past April 2009 my car flooded and I took the car to them. I took my mini to Momentum Mini for service many times. Never had a problem with any of the service advisers except for the last time with Johnny. He is all BS, lies and cheated on my service bill (quoted one price and end up charging a higher price WITHOUT acknowledgement!), and lacks professionalism. They have become so commission driven that all they care about is how to rob your money in anyway they can. Service Manager does not return calls either. This dealer is rotten at the core. This review is long overdue--I've had my car for about a year now. Matt and Momentum Mini did a wonderful job with my out-of-state Mini purchase. My 2002 Mini had just been totaled (sad face) and I had a decent amount for a down payment from the insurance company. Went on Vehix.com to find another Mini with the rooster red interior and only a few came up in the entire country. Not only did Momentum happen to have the car I wanted, but the price was AWESOME (especially compared to the highly inflated Bay Area prices...)!!! I called and got a hold of Matt immediately, who told me another person already had the car on hold. I told him I wanted it and to let me know ASAP if/when it came available again and he did. Emails were sent, papers were faxed, flew my fiance out to check it out (Matt picked him up from the airport and dropped him off at his hotel), and the transaction was a done deal...within a week! All-in-all, we were super happy with the entire experience. If I lived in Houston, I would absolutely come back to this Mini dealership for service and future purchases. read more

Very unhappy with the service department. We bought our MINI at Momentum two years ago, and have had a good experience UNTIL LAST MONTH. When making a service appointment I was informed that Momentum no longer provides loaner vehicles. Since when?? We live out of town so a loaner car is a necessity when spending the day in Houston, waiting on car repairs. We've always had a loaner in the past two years - and are not pleased at all with this new policy. BEWARE OF BAIT AND SWITCH! I've always had great service with the Momentum dealerships and Momentum Mini offers the same great service. I brought my Mini in for service and my service advisor Kristin (Kris) Landefeld made the experience very pleasant. Kristin communicated with me via text regarding all my repairs/maintenance issues and kept me up to date on the vehicle status. They were able quick to repair the car. I thought the repairs would have taken a week but they were able to fix the issue in less than 2 days. They also allow you to pay for your invoice online which makes checking out a lot quicker. This was the best car buying experience I have ever had, and I've had many. Everyone in the dealership is extremely knowledgeable, kind, and not pushy what so ever. I was beyond amazed with how easy the process went. They never applied any pressure to me on the sale. When I purchased my Mini, it was late in the day, and they were unable to get me the floormats that day. They told me to drive it for a week, come in that saturday after my gas tank was almost empty, and they would fill it, wash it, and put the mats in. They are people of their word. I never asked for them to do that, but they did it anyway. I would reccomend this dealer to anyone buying a Mini or BMW. The finance department inside Momentum BMW was as nice as could be. Our independent mechanic diagnosed a problem which was covered under warranty so we took our car to Momentum Mini for the repair. They proceeded to diagnose multiple critical problems, one of which they said would cost us $1200 and had to be done before they could even address the warranteed problem even though the two were completely unrelated. When we had our mechanic speak to momentum for clarification, the representative's explanation was vague and inaccurate.We retrieved the car and took it to another mini dealer for service where they completed a full diagnostic, discovered the issue that was covered under warranty, fixed it, and charged us $0. They found no other issues with my car. In my opinion, Momentum Mini fabricated a list of costly and unnecessary repairs and refused to fix the actual problem before attempting to extort $1200 from us. read more

I bought my car in May 2007, and the one or two times I've taken it in for service, they fixed the problem. *** Another dealership had told me they "couldn't fix" my problem--then I took it to Momentum. No more super-loud, high-pitched wind noise at 75+ miles an hour. read more

My experience at this dealership turned what was supposed to be a celebratory event, buying another Mini, instead offering an experience that made me feel manipulated, condescended to, complicit in racism, and doubting Mini as the car for me. All the cars on the lot are poorly cared for, some covered in adhesive, and all except for the showroom cars' paint were covered in swirl marks. The dealership claimed this was how the cars come; was Not a result of their washing them; they haven't "detailed" the cars yet, and the wax will cover the swirl marks. I said I was disappointed to see the paint already showing wear, to which J responded, "we can't hand wash everything!" Rude greeting: I returned to the dealership with a friend this weekend after viewing (but not driving) a Mini on their lot the previous weekend. I arrived later than I anticipated, the salesperson I was going to meet was unavailable. Another person ("J"), whom I met the prior weekend, greeted me with, "you come at the worst times." J would not let me drive the vehicle I was interested in purchasing because it "might not have gas," and offered a demo vehicle. I had disclosed I've driven this generation of Mini two door, S and non-S models, and owned a previous gen S, so the purpose of a test drive was to experience the car I was interested in owning, but I agreed to the demo as I already felt uncomfortable for arriving "at the worst times." Racism: The test drive started out pleasantly, until my friend pointed out the apartments we were driving past, and J said, approximately, "They are actually nice on the inside. I'm white, in these clothes, and I felt safe." The cabin of a two door Mini is already a tight space for three people, but the addition of thinly veiled racism filled the car to capacity. Returning to the dealership, J offered to go over the cost of the vehicle, and this is were the price of doing business with Sonic comes in: The MSRP was listed at approximately $30K, with the "Sonic price" at $28K, but after the promo pricing, Sonic had two line items after discount, but before taxes: PermaPlate ($499), and Phantom Footprint ($259). PermaPlate ($499), J explained, is a special coating the dealership applies after they receive new vehicles that prevents, according to J, "dents, dings, and paint chips." To clarify, PermaPlate is not a clear vinyl coating or an adhesive film that protects the car, PP is equivalent to a wax. J was joined by employee D, and D explained they coat every interior surface, except the steering wheel, with PP, as well as the exterior to prevent color fade. D and J stated the warranty was four (4) years on this coating, but the warranty does not cover any dents, dings, or paint damage. J did advise I purchase a care kit of wipes, saturated with PermaPlate, to use until I need to pay for the next PP application. I could not opt out of this add-on as they claim it has already been applied, but its application was Not the cause of the paint damage. Phantom Footprint ($269) is another dealership add-on the dealership required. PF is three stickers, one applied to the hatch, one applied to the driver door, and one applied to the hood, with an alphanumeric code, that J stated helps police locate the vehicle. The are stickers, stickers, applied to door and the hood! I asked J why this was necessary when VIN's provide this same function, and J stated, "These add extra protection as the manufacturer only puts the VIN on the vehicle twice." 1) False, Mini does at least four : 1) Driver side door jam, 2) steering wheel column, 3) under the windshield 4) engine and the engine compartment. J rationalized that the stickers they apply are much safer than the VIN under the windshield which could be easily removed (please, someone, tell me how this makes sense). Another local dealership informed me Mini can track all vehicle activity when a vehicle is stolen through the SOS system, which the vehicle has. Conclusion: I would like to give the benefit of the doubt and say the experience I had was due largely to J's inexperience, but J was not alone in trying to sell me car wax that was nearly divine, and redundant stickers that I'm sure any chop shop would have no trouble removing (after they've removed the "easily removed" VIN under the windshield, according to the dealership.) These "services" are not a standard practice at every Mini dealership, and do not help the Mini owner to care for their vehicle. Mini "motorers" are, by their nature, passionate about their vehicles, and often willing to spend more time and money to care for their vehicles, but these were obvious cash grabs that at best give a false sense of security while simultaneously increasing the dealer's margins. Offer your customers transparent and honest services, and stop insulting us with snake oil. Also, maybe do not make classicist, racist comments to strangers. DO BETTER. read more

Service is top notch! Johnny N, took really good care of me and my Mini Cooper. I had to drive in from Austin because the locking lug nuts presented a problem while trying remove the tires for rotation. It took all day to make the repairs, but I happily waited until the job was completed. The repair to the rims was perfect! Brian was super nice to continue to check in with me throughout the day, even though I wasn't there to buy a new car. I even got a great recommendation for an excellent sandwich and Boba Tea. I was having a difficult time finding a 2015 MINI with a manual transmission so late in the year. I live in Austin and checked every dealer in the state and they all had either one or none of the model I was looking for. Momentum is so massive they had several in stock.
