They said they could make it without added peppers), while my husband and I each got combos - his was spicy while I got marinated pork. Restaurant was not busy at 5, so we ordered right away and food came pretty quickly. My kid ended up loving my noodles so she ate loads of noodles, thankfully. My husband and I appreciated all the side dishes that could be incorporated in the meal in our combos. I ended up just putting everything together but I started adding stuff incrementally. Thought service was great, food was great, and speed was great. We loved having something different for dinner (traveling we ate fast food and then had random pastries and a high tea earlier). Really satisfying meal at Momi noodle. I had the spicy sour noodle combo and my wife had the marinated noodles. Both were delicious and very satisfying. I think the right word to describe the food here is hearty? It just really hit the spot after a long day of walking around Victoria. I was familiar with Cantonese and Szechuan styles of Chinese food, but I'd never heard of Guangxi. I'm definitely a convert and need to seek it out! They are known for rice noodles. Unlike Vietnamese bun which is thin like vermicelli, these were quite a bit thicker, almost like a round fettuccine. As appetizers, we had the duck egg rolls. We managed to eat them before taking a picture.... they were finally ground duck in egg roll wrappers. We also had the sliced pork belly with garlic sauce. I remembered to take a picture before it was completely gone! It was one of the most amazing things I've had. It's cooked and thinly sliced pork served cold, with crisp and refreshing julienne carrots and cucumber. It's served with a thin dressing that includes fresh garlic. The whole thing is cool, sharp, refreshing, and satisfying. Finally, I had the noodles. I borrowed somebody else's picture, because I forgot to take it before I dumped the toppings in. It comes with two or three different kinds of pickles, toasted soybeans, and green onions. The idea is to stir those into the noodles and eat them first, like a cool noodle salad. Then... you dump the broth on top and enjoy them like a Ramen or a noodle soup. It was absolutely amazing. As a Texan, I'm no stranger to spicy food, but somehow the spicy broth caught me at the back of my throat rather than just the tongue. You should definitely give this place a try! Highly recommend the duck spring roll. Very unique and tasty! The beef brisket rice noodle soup came with their signature Guilin rice noodles, which had a nice bite. The soup was flavorful, no condiments or sauces, access didn't need any IMO. I wish there head been a little more beef, but it tasted good, with some crunchy cabbage to offset the soft daikon. The setting was casual, and I agree with another reviewer that the radio station playing didn't add to the ambiance, but not did it bother me. The service was prompt and friendly. Stopped by for some Chinese noodles during our cruise stop in Victoria and it was okay. The high Yelp rating and family recommendations are what helped us decide on this place in Chinatown. We went in on a weekday just after lunchtime so it wasn't very busy. Our server was friendly. They may have been understaffed because he was the only one serving and a lot of the tables had a bunch of used dishes from previous customers on them, like the server never cleaned them up. Food took kind of long to come out. Eventually, they had to close the shop because the cook wasn't feeling well or something? It was unclear but we were able to finish our meals. It seemed like once they closed the shop, our server forgot about us and never came back out. We had to bring the check to the server in the back in order to pay and leave. Pretty odd experience. I ordered the Dan Dan Rice Noodle soup. The noodles were very slippery and kind of difficult to eat. Broth wasn't very flavorful. It was also pretty spicy so I couldn't finish the dish. This place brought me so much nostalgia because of their offering of guilin rice noodles. I rarely ever find this dish in restaurants, and when I do, I have to get it. When I saw that this spot offered them, I knew I had to come! We came on a rainy Saturday for lunch, and there wasn't anyone else inside. Between the two of us we shared the classic guilin rice noodle bowl (and upgraded it to the larger size for only $3 more) as well as the hot and spicy wontons. The noodles come served on a tray in a nice set with all the toppings and soup arranged around it. You can choose to add them in or not, but I would definitely recommend adding them. The noodles also had its own seasoning that can be a little salty for some, but mixed with the pork broth its perfect. The portion was super generous, and so comforting! My only nit pick was that the soybeans weren't crunchy and didn't get that same nutty flavor like they do in guilin, but everything else was great. The wontons came in a chili oil soup, and were also super good - the broth was amazing and the wontons themselves had great flavor. When we walked by another day it seemed to be a lot more busy, which I was really glad to see! This is a great spot for some classic Chinese noodles and I would certainly want to try more of their menu. read more

Decided to try a Guilin spot, Momi Noodle, in Chinatown. It's sandwiched between Habit Coffee and Dumpling Drop. We dropped in on a Sunday (11:45am) for lunch. This place must have been an art gallery because the decor is very eclectic. Go up to the counter to pay when you're done eating. Menu consists of combo, specialties, noodle in soup and hotpot noodles. Make sure to ask for their homemade chili oil. - Guilin marinated rice noodle (A1) ($14.95) - huge portion of noodles. Broth was light but well rounded. Couple of the pork pieces had a nice skin crackling, beef was tender. Our favourite of the three bowls. - Dan dan rice noodle (A4) ($15.95) - broth was very plain. Prefer the traditional dan dan style over this version. - Sour cabbage pork belly rice noodle (A12) ($18.95) - a mix of noodles to give some contrasting textures. I've never had Guilin noodles before, and it was definitely a unique flavor to try! The portions are quite large, even sharing this with my partner, we couldn't finish all the noodles. I happened to notice the same with other tables where all the toppings & meat were gone but there was still a pile of noodles left. We also tried the spicy wontons, pork dumplings, and cucumber salad. Everything had different flavors than I expected, but probably cause I typically have only eaten Szechuan or Hunan style Chinese food. The service & ambiance were okay. It's a small, informal Chinese noodle place with charming decor and some of the best rice noodle soups we've ever had. Great Dan Dan noodles! Just the right amount of heat, great flavour (star anise!). And their basic noodle dish (A1 on the menu) came with four toppings on an elegant little tray. A great mix of flavour! I was walking in a cloudy, rainy day. It's a holiday, not a lot of people walking except for tourists. A lot of stores are closed because it's thanksgiving. I chanced upon this place as I was craving for Chinese food. The place is clean and there's plenty of tables. I've always liked the industrial look with brick walls and various decorations hanging on them. The lady who welcomed me was pleasant. Asked me to sit wherever I feel comfortable. Immediately gave me the menus to peruse. There's plenty of choices and they all looked good, especially the noodle bowls. I was craving for a rice meal so I ordered the General Tso Chicken. The portion was good. It has carrots, lettuce, chicken, and red chili. I suppose you can ask them to hold off on the chili if you don't like spicy food. Over the years I've seen places serve their version of Gen Tso Chicken or Gen Tao Chicken. This is one of the better ones. The presentation is simple. Wooden spoon, chopsticks and tray. I love wood, and earthy decor. I recommend this place. Music is not loud, it's clean, simple, and I think you get your money's worth for the portion sizes. I'll be back! read more

Lovely little spot right outside of Chinatown Victoria. I dined in in Novrmber of 2022 In terms of food, it is quite underwhelming. My beef brisket with noodles tasted relatively plain. Same with the beef rolls. I do recommend the Chinese style potstos. They are sweet and delicious. How have I never visited his amazing establishment until 2024, it's a hidden gem that needs to stay this way forever so I can enjoy it all to myself! The Dan Dan Noodles were off the chart amazing and seasoned perfectly, fried potatoes were little bites of heaven and the pan fried gyozas were some of the best I've had - and I've eaten a lot of dumplings in Asia! The service was polite, not overbearing and a perfect vibe to arch the environment. And the establishment was spotlessly clean, which for me, is a must in a restaurant. While the cucumber salad was good, the rest of the options were pretty bland. Most staggering was the service. After a long day of walking the Butchart Gardens with a dog and infant then hitting downtown to check out some stores, I was craving noodles so my husband pulled up Yelp and found this place. Fortunately, it wasn't too far from where we were. The spot is literally less than a min away from Fan Tan Alley and so close to Market Square. We walked in around dinner time and there was just another family there. We were seated quickly. It was probably our first time trying this type of noodle so we weren't really sure what to order. We decided to go with the Dan Dan Noodle and Guilin Hot & Sour Noodle based on what we saw on yelp. The food came pretty quickly. I got a mild version of the Guilin hot & sour soup but then decided to add more chili oil which made it 10x more better. The sides made it more delicious too. I didn't get to try the Dan Dan noodle but my husband loved it and he can be a pretty harsh critic. The soup wasn't burning hot which I appreciated considering I needed to eat quickly so I could switch babysitting duties with my husband. The meat could've been a little bit more flavorful but with all the sides and spice, I didn't mind. The service was great and I loved that they had artwork up for sale too. The Dan Dan noodle was soupy and the noodle was rice noodle, unlike the Dan Dan noodles I had before in California and Asia; the taste and texture reminds me more of the Guilin rice noodle soup I had in Guilin China.
