Restaurant was kind of empty, but there were a couple of servers and a couple of guys behind the sushi bar. They have a huge menu. So many items to choose from. Sushi and hibachi. And a good lunch menu, but I didn't order off of that. Service was good, but I felt like I waited a long time to finally get my check. Tables and restaurant were clean, but the woman's bathroom had a horrible smell. Got in and out very quickly. This place is so nice and welcoming. Alex and Eddy welcome you like you are family. The food is very good. I always seem to order the Pendleton Roll and shrimp and mango roll. While the food was good the service and price is not worth it. I ordered a roll and it was small 8 tiny pieces and for $14 it came out to nearly $2 a piece! We also ordered the chicken udon which was so incredibly flavorful. Again it was $13 but a decent portion. I'd likely avoid the sushi if I were to come here again just because of the price and size. Quality of the fish: Always good, occasionally fantastic. Value: Well priced for non coastal sushi given the quality. Aesthetic: Clean, well decorated dining aesthetic, food presentation is great. Service: Good, not stellar (but I've yet to see stellar service in Pendleton). Servers are always friendly and competent. Only complaint would be that few know sushi well (Japanese names, sourcing etc). Ultimately very impressive. We frequent the establishment regularly (they are our favorite place in town for overall dining), and we hope they thrive and are around for the long haul. There is room for improvement, but they got the most important parts exactly right in my book. We've eaten there many now (and tried nearly everything on the menu, as well as had several things not on the menu), and never had a bad experience! This is one of my family's favorite places to eat! They have an amazing lunch special, so we usually come for lunch. The service is always great and the food is even better. My husband always gets the spicy tuna roll, the california roll, or the Philadelphia roll. I get the Veggie Wonderland roll and the chicken tempura roll since I'm not a huge fan of fish. The ONLY negative reviews for this place are from people who think $6 is too much to pay for two pieces of nigiri (??!!), folks who ordered teriyaki, or folks who wanted super fast service in the middle of Eastern Oregon (I love the servers, not sure what reviewers were complaining about). Look for yourself through the reviews. They truly have fresh fish - where you can even get nigiri without hesitation (I have had both salmon and tuna nigiri after trying out the fried Ocean Roll which had actual salmon - not spicy salmon) I have lived in several cities and am VERY picky about sushi. I now live in Portland and only eat at Yoko's on Gladstone in SE Portlnd and Momiji in Pendleton. I was very pleased when I heard about a sushi Resturant opening in Pendleton Oregon. I had to go and try. The outside is a little rough but the owners bought it in the winter and are just know starting to clean the outside so don't judge it by that. The inside is very nice, very traditional and the food is fantastic. The presentation too the service and price where all just right. I have to say it puts the rest of the restaurants in town to shame. Some people think it just raw fish but they would be wrong sashimi is the raw fish, which the quality they are getting is very high. The sushi is the rice, most people are confused by that. They also have a wide range of other choices including filet mignon and steak and shrimp. Don't hesitate too go in and try the food I give them five stars and for me as a chef says a lot. the one male server they have,is completely mean and demands a tip. as a costumer you look at all the possible possibilities of how much they get as a tip on how respectful they are,food quality and restaurant cleanliness. but the night i left no tip due to ants all over the table and in all of our drinks. and him being rude. he decided to ask if i was "American" bc i left no tip because i was unsatisfied. I feel really bad for the unfavorable review I'm giving this place because everyone who worked there was really nice. That said, the food was awful. Like, I couldn't finish one thing that I ordered awful. The "green salad" was a bowl of wet iceberg lettuce covered in a sweet mayonnaise. My salmon avocado roll was kind of... warm? My spicy salmon roll was really fishy tasting in a way that salmon typically is not. The vegetable gyoza were filled with a flavorless mixture that seemed to be mushy rice and edamame. This place is a bit pricey but considering the location it is understandable. The sashimi was incredibly fresh and the sushi rolls are excellent. I was pleasantly surprised by this find. The deep fried cheesecake is an interesting desert, it's definitely worth a try though I would split it with two. Service is a bit slow but the atmosphere alleviates the discomfort of the wait. The appetizers came out fast and were great, coconut shrimp and pork pot stickers. The sushi was made fast and looked beautiful! We waited a bit for my salmon and shrimp plate and were disappointed. The soup to me was also on the sweet side, and I am not a Tofu lover anyway.
