Chicken Katsu Curry with Fried Egg
    Von A.

My Go-to spot in the Gansevoort Market! I usually get the chicken or the Berkshire pork katsu curry at the mild heat level. I have a pretty average tolerance for spicy foods, so I think I was pretty happy with the amount of heat - its definitely not the kind of heat you'd regret (after your morning coffee :-o). The chicken is crisp and freshly fried, and I like the option to add a fried egg for some extra protein. The curry gravy is a hearty portion - definitely a good amount to enjoy.

B Had the grilled chicken curry It comes with white rice Curry was really solid, but could have use more of a kick and more garnish. They were cheap on that. Pricey for what you get. (Including tax came out to about $14.10 and is more a $10 meal) Go Go Curry does it better, especially for the price ‍

    Grilled vegetable curry with toppings

Pretty delicious but bummed they were not selling the potato cream udon. I got the grilled vegetable curry with a bunch of toppings. The creamy crab croquettes were very small and barely had any crab in it. Still tasty curry though. I had to replate it in this specific container for instagram. Turns out their to go container is not this cute oval one. Total was about $22

I ordered a MealPal dinner here for the first time. Decent size, quality meat and thick/yummy curry sauce. Pretty satisfied!

The worst. You can get better food at the food trucks on Broadway. For half the price. That's pretty sad.

When it gets busy, there is usually a line waiting at the door, sometimes extending outside. If you have a reservation, you will not be seated until the whole party is there. One small note: if you are seated in the back, the cell service is really bad, but who needs their phone when you have good company and good food.

This restaurant offers a variety of Japanese katsu including pork loin, pork tenderloin, curries, seafood, and donburis as well as many appetizers, drinks, and desserts. We tried the miso pork loin and the half pork/half chicken curry katsu. Both were delicious, and very enjoyable. The katsu is very crispy and well made; the meat inside is very moist. For every entree, you have the option of choosing set A (miso soup with pork and vegetable, potato salad, shredded cabbage) or set B (miso soup and shredded cabbage). There was nothing special about the vegetable and pork soup and potato salad so I would recommend set B. At every table, there are a variety of condiments - salad dressing for the cabbage, spice powder, tonkatsu sauce, and soy sauce. I would definitely come back here if I am craving katsu. Service: Service was phenomenal. The restaurant was packed and very busy, but our server was still very attentive and always available if we needed something. Very friendly! Ambiance: The restaurant is not big but can accommodate both large and small groups. Space is a bit tight, but the seating is still comfortable. They have counter seating as well as tables in the back. During peak dinner time, there was a little bit of a wait and a line near the door; the place is very popular. Overall, I would highly recommend this restaurant if you are craving tonkatsu!
