Great ramen place. We came at 6 and it was not crowded at all. By the time we left, it was full and groups were being seated at the bar. Very kind staff and it was very easy to order. Very chill. They have a dinner menu set which was a great deal. It comes with an appetizer a sushi and a Ramen. We got the spicy dandan and the tonkatsu. The spicy dandan ramen was delicious. I was surprised because normally the Tonkatsu Ramen are usually the best sellers at Ramen restaurants but I definitely think the dandan was the best by far. It wasn't even a competition. My partner got it and I was regretting not getting it. The appetizer was delicious and pretty standard to what I was expecting. Seeing the $20 lunch set sealed the deal for me! Walking in, I loved how vibrantly decorated the space was and could smell all the broths from the diners. I opted for the lunch set with tonkatsu ramen and a salmon roll. I did notice that the portion size was a bit smaller than you'd typically receive but I suspect that may be due to the meal deal. Nevertheless, I enjoyed the broth and my noodles had a great bounce to them. My egg was a bit overcooked instead of that jammy consistency. I thought the salmon roll was nicely portioned and fresh! I was really surprised by how much I enjoyed Susukina. We came here for dinner. Just a short walk from our hotel in FiDi. While I was a little worried about finding something I would like on the menu (based off pictures from other Yelpers), the actual menu has MUCH more options, including a sashimi set, bento box, and don. I came here STARVING, so I ordered a sashimi bento box with miso soup. The fish was very thiccc and fresh. And there was lots of food that came with the bento to fill me up. Decided to visit Susukino for my lunch break. It really wasn't too busy. I opted for their lunch set and got the tonkotsu ramen and a salmon roll for $20. For the price, I say I would say I was happy with it and would return again. The broth wasn't the most flavorful I've had, but truthfully, I did prefer it because other ramen broths I've had in FiDi have an off-putting "strong-ness" to them after a while. Ramen wise, I really enjoy their broth, it wasn't as salty and kept ramen to Japanese tradition. Ordered the tonkostu ramen on a cold winter day. I started with a sip of the rich pork bone broth. Worked my way with bits of the toppings such as bamboo shoots, Naruto fish cakes, and these brown thin strips of crunchiness. My ramen egg was slightly cooked and no longer runny, which I was ok with. It happens. My only concern was the thick slices of cha siu pork. It has flavor but it was not tender enough for my liking. The noodles were slurpable. The umami-ness of the broth clinged on to each noodle strand. Service was prompt. Ambiance was there... People were chatting and enjoying the food and company. Just note most of their ramen is tonkostu/pork bone broth based. I would definitely go back and order the other ramen options. Pricing wise I guess it's normal for FiDi. You can see in the picture that the bowl is nowhere close to being full and just ONE tiny piece if chicken. And I can't even say that their regular bowl is that a good portion size well. Tried this spot after work with my boyfriend since it's close to my office, but it ended up being one of the worst dining experiences I've had in NYC--and we eat out daily. When we walked in, there was no host, so I paused to make eye contact with the staff before seating myself. As I walked to grab a seat, one of the waitresses mocked me to her coworker, saying, "is she just going to stare?" in a condescending tone--not realizing that she was within earshot. They both laughed and went behind the counter. From there, it only got worse. They continued to laugh and glance over at me throughout the beginning of our meal, which was so uncomfortable and incredibly unprofessional. I tried to brush it off and enjoy the food, but the ramen didn't make up for the rude service. I ordered the Susukino ramen which was overly salty with barely any truffle flavor. My boyfriend's curry ramen was better, but still not memorable. On top of getting made fun of my water was never refilled, even though his was. If you're craving ramen, please skip this place. My salmon roll tasted fresh and my ramen was flavorful, though I wish it had a few more pieces of meat in it! Service here was prompt at the beginning, then they just left us alone to catch up after we were done with our meal which I appreciated.
