I came here on a Saturday around 12:45ish, meeting my brother who was driving in from PA. There were a couple other customers, fairly quiet. The service was prompt, but sometimes had a tough time trying to flag down a server. As we had fairly substantial dinner plans, we opted for a lighter lunch, and ended up splitting: Garlic Cucumber Salad - pretty tasty, but could have used some more garlic. Chinese Yam with Black Vinegar and Wood Ear - we had high hopes for this, and while it was fine - it was kind of bland, needing some more salt at the very least (though the vinegar at the table helped a bit) Braised Beef Noodle Soup (Half Tendon, Half Meat) - solid dish, broth was not too heavy (which was good, considered the rich beef tallow included in the dish). All in all, while not quite wow'ed with the items we did order, I'd be willing to return and try out some other dishes. read more

The restaurant is on a side street so a bit hard to find at first. We came on a weekend and there was no wait which was nice, but it was steaming hot out so I wish they turned on their AC a bit more. The service was friendly and fast with someone coming around frequently to fill our waters. We ordered - chinese yam and earwood mushroom salad 3/5, a bit small and the taste and sauce was thicker and different from the classic garlic and onion - braised beef noodle soup 4/5, hearty but tasted clean. the meat was very tender and the broth was tasty - fried pork chop 3/5 classic but nothing really stood out from it - stir fried cabbage and pork 5/5 my favorite dish here, a bit salty but great with a bowl of rice everything here was pretty good but the prices are a bit steep in my opinion read more

Had the shrimp loofah soup dumplings. I liked how delicate the skin was. Can't believe how quickly it came out-5 to 10 min after ordering. Typically at restaurants it takes 20 minutes to steam. The chicken Lomein was different than what we are used to but it's not heavy and perfectly cooked. The plum Vinegar was sooo tender and perfectly sweet bit not oversweet. I really liked this cute little restaurant in the Financial District. I am a huge fan of Xiao long bao and was craving some, from the pictures online this looked legitimate so I decided to take a chance in this new-ish restaurant. I'm very impressed with the authentic Xiao long bao. They are perfectly made: thin wrapper, pocket full of hot umami soup when you take the first bite, perfectly seasoned pork with slight sweetness, and served with ginger and vinegar the traditional Chinese way. I ordered some yam with wood ear appetizer and that was very tasty too, very crunchy and a little sour and sweet. I vouch for the authentic tastes at this restaurant based on the dishes I ordered. The complimentary edamame was a nice touch, but not really Chinese... so I think they are trying to appeal to the average American consumer with that. Service was fine, the waiter and the staff were standing around looking bored most of the time because they didn't have much business while I was there. I really hope their business will pick up, because the food is great and this is such a popular area (walkable from Battery Park and from the World Trade Center).
