The staff is friendly and helpful, they suggested me ube flavor when I asked for less sweet donut flavors. The donut was delicious. They are a lot denser and chewier in texture compared to regular donuts. I would definitely recommend this place! The sesame and matcha are my favorite! They both have a more earthy flavor with a slight sweetness to them. And the donuts themselves are soft, chewy, and easy to pull apart. It tasted like I was eating a chewy donut although I had to watch myself and not eat them all (ended up sharing one or two). I will probably not get the Chocolate again - did not like the taste of the coating. My favorite was the Oreo and the Mango. They were out of Pistachio - I would have loved to try that. Definitely added to my list of favorite small dessert shops to eat and hang at! Loving these fresh mochi donuts from MoMo Mochi, which is located inside The Spot food hall near Rockville town center. Each donut is $3.50, or customers can buy five donuts to get a sixth for free! I love that we can mix and match these flavors, and they got some unique ones to choose from and I'm sure glad they don't have a large overwhelming menu to look at haha. Super soft and chewy mochi donuts - newest addition to The Spot! The donut dough itself isn't flavored but the flavors are in the frosting/glaze and toppings. After seeing hundreds of these mochi donuts bless my Instagram and Tik Tok feeds, I was ecstatic to learn that Rockville had finally jumped on the mochi donut craze!! While I'm sad to see Alpaca Dessert disappear from The Spot, Momo Mochi is a wonderful replacement. Their mochi donuts are perfectly springy and chewy, and they have plenty of fun, unique Asian flavors. The base donut is slightly less sweet than a traditional American donut, but otherwise approximately the same. As for the individual flavors...it varies. The first time I was here, my friends and I ordered the yuzu, matcha, and ube donuts and each tried a bit of each donut. I thought that the yuzu was pretty solid -- it tasted a bit more like lemon than yuzu, but it was definitely a bit tart and the unique yuzu flavor shone through. The matcha was lovely, with a slight hint of bitterness in the background, although I probably would've preferred that the matcha flavor was a bit stronger and the sugar a bit lighter. The ube was my least favorite of the bunch; it was hard to taste the ube and it honestly just tasted like an average glazed donut. Even so, the unique texture of the mochi donut made it a fun experience! I'm not sure that I can really justify paying $3.50 for a single donut frequently, but it's definitely still worth a try! They're also partnering with Gong Cha now, so you can buy mochi donuts with your boba on a few days of the week (I think just Thursday-Sunday). I also catered from Momo Mochi for an event later on (the four boxes in the picture below are the leftovers from the fifteen that we ordered), so I've had the opportunity to sample the majority of their flavors. My ratings (out of 5) for the ones I've tried are as follows: - Matcha (4.5) -- slightly bitter, with a noticeable matcha flavor. I would've preferred for it to be a bit less sweet, but still solid overall! The pocky on top is a cute little touch. - Black sesame (4.7) -- also one of my favorites. It's slightly bitter and nutty, which does a phenomenal job of balancing out the sugary donut. Absolutely love the sesame. - Yuzu (4.2) -- nice, citrusy flavor that's refreshing against the sweet donut. I think it tastes a bit more like lemon than yuzu, and I would've liked it to be a bit more tart, but it's still delightful. The shade of yellow in the icing is also the most adorable pastel. - Ube (3.5) -- this one is overly sweet with a very minimal ube flavor. I can hardly taste the ube, and it tastes just like a normal American donut. - Mango (3.7) -- I also personally find this one overly sweet, but the mango flavor is quite pronounced compared to the ube donut. It's easy to get it confused with the yuzu one, though, if you're buying them together, so make sure you keep track of it! It has a nice citrusy flavor that serves as a great balance against the donut itself. - Cinnamon sugar (4.5) -- you get exactly what you're expecting, and you can really never go wrong with cinnamon sugar. They have a great ratio of cinnamon to sugar in the topping, and it's the perfect way to enjoy a mochi donut without the extra icing. read more

I've been wanting to try mocha donuts for so long and was excited to see that momo mocha was opening in Rockville. I went in on a Sunday evening and their flavors where limited, only black sesame, oreo, matcha, and chocolate which was disappointing since I was excited to try the unique flavors they had like yuzu. They do have a buy 5 get one free deal but I wasn't that moved to get 6 donuts based on the flavors they had. I ended getting 2 matcha and one Oreo. The chocolate is rich and yummy, but our favorite was black sesame. It has a unique flavor that you can't find at your standard donut shop. Overall, I find $3.50 to be a lot for a single donut that isn't out of the ordinary. The mochi donut craze has come to Rockville! Momo Mochi is located in the Spot food hall, and took the place of Alpaca Dessert. The store front is bright and clean, and service was prompt. We went mid/late afternoon on a weekday and there was no line. I got one Oreo, one matcha, one ube, and one mango (order of my most to least favorite). I didn't quite understand why they would offer a "plain" flavored donut until I took my first bite; the donut texture and flavor was by itself pillowy and slightly sweet. The donuts were very airy and chewy, and so delicious. Unfortunately the mango and ube options lacked their characteristic flavors, but the matcha and Oreo one were VEEY flavor forward. My friend LOVED the black sesame. These donuts are also SO pretty and picturesque (some of them having matching pocky sticks for decoration) but the food coloring was very generous, so we did walk away with colored finger sand tongues after some of these donuts. So glad that mochi donuts have made it into the DMV! Momo Mochi was great! We got there right when they opened at 12pm on a Friday. So they actually didn't have all their flavors which was a bummer because I really wanted to try their black sesame and yuzu. Regardless, the flavors that they did have were good! The texture is slightly more dense than other ones I've tasted but still good and delicious. We really liked the Oreo and the Ube, as well as the pistachio. My husband's fave was the matcha. I was excited for this mochi spot to open because since visiting Japan, there isn't a place nearby that sells cute mochi donuts! It's taken over the alpaca place in the spot foodhall. I'm a little disappointed by the texture of the donuts! First, it tastes more like American donuts, not mochi. So it's more bread like than chewy mochi. Each donut is $3.50 each. There was nobody at the counter when I arrived so I ordered through the screen and waited for my pickup time. Even after the pickup time passed, there was nobody at the counter. I had to wait for 10 additional minutes for someone to arrive to help me. Once the employee was there though, they were helpful. It turned out that they were out of the flavor I originally had ordered (ube) so I went for Oreo instead in addition to the black sesame. It was definitely pretty pricey at $9 for 2 donuts. The donuts themselves were good, I definitely preferred the black sesame to the Oreo, which I found to be too sweet. It was very easily identifiable that they mixed batches that they could not sell from the previous day in with the current ones, as some donuts had the texture and springiness of a mochi donut, while others had the day-old feel and taste based on the glaze and the donut base. Even the fruity pebbles cereal on the Yuzu topping were old and had zero crunch factor, indicative of the day old and un-fresh quality of the donuts. The only redeeming part was the glaze flavors were decent. If the price were in any way decent then this review might have a 2 stars for worth it factor, but at $3.50 a donut this stays at 1 star. read more

I got mine first thing in the morning and it wasn't necessarily warm/hot, because they're probably pre-made (not sure if they ever are), but they still had a nice chewy texture, not too dense, and it didn't feel too oily.
