Finally tried Duck Donuts and I'm so glad I did! This location is spacious and clean. The staff are so welcoming and patient as you choose your selections. I came in thinking I would just get one to try but ended up grabbing 6 to share with my husband. They are made to order, but the staff move quickly. Be prepared to wait a few minutes (but you get to watch them prepare the donuts, so they wait is welcomed!). My favorite is the cookies and cream, but the chocolate covered strawberry was surprisingly delicious! They are very sweet, but that's pretty much exactly what I want in a donut. Thursday 10/12/23 These donuts aren't your typical yeast donuts but instead they are cake donuts. I used to think these were the best donuts I've had in all of Maryland but I hadn't had them since 2021 so a decent amount has changed for me. I got an assorted 12 pack ($24.50) for the family and I had a maple bacon, French toast, cookies n cream, and vanilla icing with Oreos. The donuts were still pretty good and it's dope that they have many different flavors and you can even create your own. All of the donuts were delicious but my favorite was definitely the cookies n cream. Although the donuts were good, they were significantly smaller from the ones I would get in 2021 and the prices seemed to have jumped up too. I had rewards on the app and when I tried to claim them, the cashier said it didn't work and to "come back another time". I was then able to easily order through the app and claim my reward. There are so many options to choose from and because they are made fresh you don't have to worry that the one you want is already sold out. I can't stress enough how good these donuts taste because they are so soft and warm when you bite into them. We ordered blueberry powder sugar, strawberry powder sugar and smore. Really disappointing location. Absolutely no ambience, not a place you would want to sit and eat. We weren't there for that, just the donut order to go. They don't have a row of toppings to choose from in front of you like the original location. We just picked from a menu and they make them to order, but not where you can see. I've been coming here for years. Sadly the new staff loves to say no. For years I've still been able to order items that were seasonal because usually you can create donuts here. I was told no, that I need to order what's on the menu. I'm confused as to if you have all the ingredients why you can't make it. They clearly don't know and instead of finding out they would rather say no. It's bad customer service. Also, the only time you can review the menu is when you get to the counter. They used to have multiple menus so that people in line can figure out what they want instead of feeling rushed to make a decision because there's a line behind you and the cashier is the "no king." Ordered a s'mores donut and a peach cobbler donut...and WOW. Like, I definitely did not realize how amazing they were going to be but they were so freaking good and fresh. Warm, crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, not too sweet, real ingredients, excellent flavors... I am not sure I've ever had donuts made fresh to order like this. I was just so so impressed. I'm still thinking about that marshmallow drizzle on the s'mores donut, too. It was perfect. If you asked me before I went to Duck Donuts whether I like cake donuts, I would have said, eh. Kind of meh. Then I went to Duck Donuts and I learned what cake donuts were meant to be. Duck Donuts are made to order, so there's not a big display case of donuts that have been sitting there heaven-knows-how-long. You pick your glaze & toppings and they fry-em and glaze-em and top-em in front of you. And then, if you're smart, you eat-em right away while they're still super fresh. OMFGYUM. I had blueberry glaze, hot fudge drizzle and oreo cookie crumbles and this was pretty darn perfect. I love maple flavor donuts though too so will have to try that on another visit. I am so glad that DD is not too close to home. I would really be in trouble. But they are close enough for date night dessert, which is about as often as I should have them anyway. SO GOOD. And at about $2 a pop, they're more than some donut places (but totally worth it) and less than the hip mochi donuts tend to be (I love me some mochi donuts too, but they tend to be pricy), but still a bargain price for dessert on the whole. Dessert at a restaurant usually is like $5-10 bucks. Pro tip: have dinner at A&J, grab a milk tea from the place next door to it, and then dessert from DD. The location has a pretty decent size parking lot so it wasn't an issue to pull up and get my sweets. Also, the inside is incredibly spacious, but doesn't really have anywhere to sit down and eat, but I knew I would just eat my donuts in the car. I ended up ordering the blueberry donut and the cinnamon bun, and they quickly made my donuts as the store was empty. From what I remember of duck donuts it seems like maybe things have changed since. I felt like both of my donuts tasted pretty similarly, and the donuts were not really cooked all the way through. additionally, when I ordered the donuts off of the menu, I expected it to look similar to what was pictured, but my donut was missing the drizzle and toppings. I didn't visit the bakery myself. My son actually picked the donuts up for me as sweet surprise. All of the donuts were the perfect density and the flavors were all really good.
