I wanted to try so many things on the menu but splurged and went for Ribeye steak with black pepper gravy. Steak was cooked simple (the way I like it) but very tender and flavorful. Meat Gravy was peppery and also very flavorful. Everything also paired so well with the sweet ice jasmine green tea which was today's special drink that came with the lunch. This place was in the cut in a random area. Not very impressed with Momo's. I'm not sure if its because I came super late when they were about to close .. I don't think they allow people to eat after 9:30 (because kitchen is about to close), but if you grab a drink, they'll let you come in. I think their items are a bit overpriced for what they are. My friend and I ordered truffle fried baby octopus (10.50), Japanese short rib on rice (14.50), and Japanese Curry on Rice (10.95) , and honey toast (23.50). When you order close to closing, they don't bring it out on a plate and that is totally fine. They cook it and put it in a to-go box container. We received the fried baby octopus that came out in a few pieces, quite oily - tasted it and tasted no truffle until the very end. For how much we got, it definitely should not have costed 10.50. We received both the short rib and curry ... a tad tasteless. Overall - there is nothing special about these items. I'm sorry to say, but I could've definitely made this at home. Very simple and easy to make ... nothing special about the curry or anything. Super disappointed we spent that much on these dishes. Last, but not lease, the overly priced honey toast. The honey toast was delicious and amazing - had different items all around the fried honey toast. Super good - half the side had chocolate inside. Best thing on the menu! But the price is so STEEP for this honey toast. We only ordered it cause we were craving sweets ... but overall everything is too overpriced for what its worth... read more

I really like the layout of Momo's Cafe because it gives off classy Breakfast At Tiffany's, boba edition vibes. I had a iced matcha with foam and spicy popcorn chicken which were bomb and thus hit the spot! Being from California and not new to boba and popcorn chicken at boba cafes like Tapioca Express I was really excited when I came across this place through Yelp's D.C.'s Instagram. The service was very welcoming and genuine and was also fast. One of the owners happened to sit nearby and even gave me awesome boba and entree recommendations for my next visit. Although the menu, is somewhat pricey that is made up for through taste and quality service. I will definitely be coming back! read more

I really dont do reviews but just couldn't pass on this one. Made my visit here after stumbling upon this "hidden gem" on yelp and we were not impressed. Walked in and was greeted promptly and then seated in a booth, we thought that it was going to be a great experience. Turned out it was the last service we received until we left. We ordered popcorn chicken, sausage, minced pork on rice and the fried honey toast. They were all okay for a non-yelp-elite like me but were nothing too spectacular. My toast took a solid 1 hour to prepare from the time we ordered. I apologize if i do not know how toasts work but for a one-hour-to-prepare one I did expect a bit more. There was also half a scoop of ice cream on top. Service was non existent. The gentleman was too occupied with one other table that he couldn't hear the bell for the food. He dropped the food, went on with his sweet lil talk and ignored everything else totally. I spent more than 5 minutes with my arm up to ask for a bowl to share with my girlfriend and just gave up. Later I had to ask for the check loudly just to be able to ask for some knives to handle the toast. Excuse me again if I dont know how toasts work but one can't simply fork the toast down the throat. 3 star cuz we somehow managed to feel full walking out. I was super excited to find a Taiwanese cafe in the DC area. Let me tell you this was a great find! I'll start with the only problem we had. It didn't say anywhere that I looked online that there wasn't fine in so my husband and I showed up expecting to eat there and they were only doing to go and delivery. Our hotel was was over 20 minutes away so I was worried about how it would hold up but I still really wanted to try it because good Taiwanese food can be hard to find outside of Taiwan. It was totally worth it! I'll review the popcorn chicken. If what you're looking for is a traditional popcorn chicken like what you might get at KFC, the isn't it. If what you're looking for is the tradition Taiwanese popcorn chicken with all its spices and crispiness then look no further, this is it!!! It tasted exactly like the popcorn chicken I would get as a kid at the night markets. I ordered the iron skillet with ribeye and noodles. When I was little I called it pepper steak because it came with a tasty slightly spicy pepper sauce. It was exactly like I wanted it. The sauce was as amazing as when I get it when I visit Taiwan. The noodles and ribeye were both perfectly cooked. I opted for no egg, just a personal preference because I don't like egg with my pepper steak. My husband got the spicy crawfish ettouffee bento box. The crawfish had already been peeled and removed from the shell and was the perfect amount of spicy. He usually adds hot sauce to everything and didn't even put one drop on it. We also got the Japanese short rib bento box. The short rib was delicious. All the bento boxes came with rice, a cabbage side, a corn and broccoli side that had a slice of Taiwanese sausage as well as a piece of tofu and half of a boiled soy sauce egg. Not going to lie, after all the other food we barely had room to even taste the sides. The Chinese sausage was perfect and so was the soy sauce egg. The tofu was good, probably would have been better fresh at the restaurant. The broccoli and corn were good, basic. Just not with filling my stomach with when everything else was so delicious. The server accepting my order and that delivered my order was super nice and friendly and accommodating to some adjustments I made in my order. I would definitely return here again! read more

This is the best Taiwanese restaurant in DMV area, the drink is a way better than a Kung Fu tea, even though they don't have too many items on the menu, but the food look good and taste good, very authentic. So came here on a whim when I was driving through the area. Date night with myself turned into a awesome dinner. Very pleasant and greeted as soon as I walked in. Super nice and explained the food options and menu items I was not as familiar with. I went here because I won a gift card. Because I have no friends I went by myself which was only awkward because it felt like a place for couples and gave me Madame Puddifoot vibes ala Harry Potter. The beef noodle soup is not hot and beef is not well flavored. Popcorn chicken is wrongly seasoned and too dry. It costs more than $60 for 4 people and it was fulfilling. Very disappointing. We almost canceled our vacation and rushed back home to cook ourselves. My wife said that my cooking tastes better than Momo's Cafe. Paid $25+tip via Ubereats for a minced pork rice and a drink. By far the most pricey Taiwanese meal I've had in my life lol. Both were good but the portion of the food was like a kid's meal. I was still hungry and couldn't believe that they charge $11 for minced pork rice which is the most basic Taiwanese dish. It came with a fried egg, a teaspoon worth of sour cabbage, and 2 browned broccolis, yes just 2 florets of old stale broccoli. I don't even know if that would be considered a side. Other than my issue with their tiny portion and serving stale vegetables, I was loving the drink that I had ordered. It was a matcha milk tea with sea salt foam top. The best I've had in DMV so I will definitely order this again. But will I order the food? I guess for now yes because it does taste somewhat authentic compared to other Taiwanese places that I've found in the area. I was a big fan of its bento before so Momo has been my second canteen since its grand opening. I'm not from Taiwan but personally its popcorn chicken is the best ever in DC, and the drinks are really good, especially the milk foam, because I had been looking for the kind of milk foam that I used to have in China, which is creamy and thick, with a bit of cheese taste. The servers here are so friendly and nice. They always care about what customer thinks. They said that there are some new dishes and drinks coming out soon so I've been looking forward to it and I really wanna recommend this restaurant. read more

Bad service. I have been here so many times even before the pandemic. The service was very good until I met this server. That is a tall guy with the glasses that didn't serve us well. Gave us very bad attitudes that should not have been given as a server, like he is being racist to us (we are asian, he is not). When we got in we say "Hi how are you?" to him but he didn't reply back and keep playing his phone. He seems like he didn't want to serve us. Then one of my guy friend thought he didn't here us and said hello again to him, asked how he's doing but he just glanced back and say yeah. We didn't want to argue so we just ordered 3 drinks and think this will be the last time we came to this place. When he was making the drinks he turned to us and asked if one of them are no sugar (as we ordered). My guy friend replied yes and he said to my friend "I'm not talking to you, I'm talking to the girl." That is when things start to get more serious. We argued with him and asked where the manager is and wether we can talk to him/her. He said the manager's not available and he still gave us very bad attitude then said he'll refund the money back. Neither the owner or manager were there, maybe that's why he acted like that. I hope the owner can read this comment. I'm sure he should have made lots of your customers either have left or walked out being angry. I will never come to this place again if that guy is still working there. read more
