I could maybe give it 5 stars, but is it really a 5 star joint? Really good food at a decent price. Fried fish sandwich maybe one of the best I've had in a long time. The fries were amazingly good, so crispy and crunchy. But the cole slaw was just "eh". Tuna fish sandwich was also pretty good, nothing special, but a good tuna sandwich. We stopped here on our way back home from Florida to have dinner. This was kind of an unusual place for us because it is out of our home area and things are always done different in different parts of the country. I can't say that anything that we had was bad but it was not outstanding. There was an abundance of the food that we got as none of us could eat everything that was served. I asked the desk clerk at the hotel for breakfast recommendations. I told him that I wanted the place where the old guys gather at six or seven am to eat and solve the world's problems. I didn't get there that early but I did get friendly, fast service and a really good breakfast. Ordered the chicken fiesta omelette because I'd never heard of it. Served with salsa on the side. I go to Mom's kitchen for the consistent good quality, quick delivery and low cost of a good breakfast. They always have a high score. Only had 2 bad experiences here because of one lady server in particular. Other than that the service has been great. There's usually a really sweet guy behind the counter. Stick to the classic breakfast if you go here. I got a mushroom omelette that I had to ask for cheese on. The omelette was average. Food was not warm when it arrived. If you go anywhere else for breakfast in Dothan, Al you do yourself a disservice. We just came back from THE best breakfast I can remember. I had a spectacular western omelet, great smoked sausage, home fries, and toast. My wife had the hash, eggs, grits, and toast . She is lucky I was occupied with my delicious breakfast because I would have stolen hers. The wait staff was attentive without being obtrusive. The only downside was the " death club" that came in and sat behind us and talked about all the family members' last days and moments in great detail. read more

The lunch special I had was Country Fried Steak, it was not homemade. I could have bought this country fried steak and heated it in the microwave myself. The green beans are from a can and they taste metallic with no seasoning. Mashed potatoes were decent. Just expect more from a restaurant with "Mom's" in the title. The food was great and the portion sizes were large. Warning: the pancakes are very thick! We could not have finished the 2-stack if we wanted to. The 1/2 size portion of French toast is perfect especially if your not starving. The hash browns were perfectly even and crispy. The sausage patties were slightly spicy to sensitive taste buds. I work down the road from this place. My co-workers and myself order from here often. Everything has always been wonderful. My only mistake has been ordering the whole breakfast with pancakes eggs bacon home-fries. There was no way possible I was finishing that on my own. Now if I order a whole breakfast (not just my meat and eggs usual) I make sure someone else is willing to split the breakfast with me! Love this place and blessed it is only down the road. read more

Mom's Kitchen is a real little jewel. No matter if you go for breakfast or lunch everything they serve is terrific. The biscuits nearly cover the saucer, and just melt in your mouth. They actually cook your eggs exactly as you ordered them!! And don't miss the home fries, little cubes of savory crispy potatoes that are so good you will hunt that last bit out from under your bread. At lunch they have a menu with choices of meat and 3 veg, everything I have tried is amazingly good. I have eaten here several times. The first time I was surprised at how great the food is!!! I ordered the fish sandwich and it was not a little square!! It was so big I got two meals out of it!! It came with two sides. I got coleslaw(yum!!) and the macaroni salad. The macaroni salad was a meal in itself as it had cubes of ham in it!!
