Tip: This eatery is on Fantuan. A couple of Saturdays ago, I was in Aurora having a late lunch. I was thinking about where to get takeout for dinner. I whipped out my Fantuan app on my phone and this Mom's Pan Fried Bun caught my attention. I have been meaning to give this eatery a try. There are a couple of locations fairly close to where I live. I haven't been to either yet. Why not do a quick jaunt up to Newmarket to see what the hype is all about? I ordered these items: - Scallion pancakes - Pan-fried pork dumplings (8) - Chive pork dumplings (8) - Mom's special steamed pork soup dumplings (6) I paid through the app and got an estimated pickup time. I took my time driving over to this eatery. When I got to this plaza, I realized that I was here several years ago. The Tim Hortons still anchors it. I don't recall any of the other businesses. I parked fairly close to the restaurant. I then walked into the eatery. I saw a few customers enjoying their food. I'd like to return and sit down for a meal. It looked comfortable. A nice man at the counter said hi to me in Mandarin. I don't speak it, so I ended up letting him know what my Fantuan order was. He nodded and handed over my bag containing my food. He hoped that I'd enjoy my food. I thanked him and headed to my car. I put my food in an insulated bag and drove home. My food was still hot when I got home. I went to town eating dinner. The scallion pancakes were crispy and yummy. They were different from the chewy version that you'd expect. I loved them. The pan-fried pork dumplings were excellent. The filling was tasty. The pan-fried sear at the bottom of each dumpling was perfect and added more flavour. Delicious! I loved the chive dumplings. Chives are so good with pork filling. These dumplings were comforting and yummy. The soup dumplings were also amazing. Each one had the perfect amount of soup. The soup had the right amount of salt. The filling was juicy. The wrapper had the perfect thickness. I loved everything that I ate from Mom's Pan Fried Bun. I'd return to order more good eats from this eatery when I'm in the area again. (151)

Tried Mom's Pan-Fried Buns in Newmarket for the first time and ordered a variety of dishes to get the full experience. Everything came out quickly, which was impressive considering how much we ordered. The food was tasty, portions were generous, and the prices are very reasonable - honestly no complaints at all. It's the kind of spot where you feel like you're getting great value without sacrificing quality. Overall, a solid place for casual, delicious eats. Definitely worth coming back to.

Mom's Pan Fried Buns is a great spot that offers more than just its signature buns, and the soup dumplings and braised beef noodle soup really stand out. The soup dumplings were delicate with a thin, silky wrapper that held a rich, savoury broth inside--each bite had that satisfying burst of flavour that makes xiao long bao so comforting for an amazing price. The braised beef noodle soup was equally impressive, with tender, slow-braised beef that practically melted apart and a deeply flavourful broth that felt hearty without being overly heavy. The hand pulled noodles were cooked just right, holding their texture well while soaking up the soup.

Went to go tribe this location as it is relatively new for the area. And when we went in, it was filled with students and very loud that is to be expected as it was lunchtime, and there are schools nearby. Service is decent. It is a little hard to service and their attention, but definitely doable. Food -pan fried buns 4/5 For the buns, I asked for it to be extra crispy and the bottom was a very crispy, which was very nice What let me down for the buns was that the filling is very inconsistent. One of the buns had very little meat, and one of the other buns was filled to the brim with meat. The dough was fully cooked and had a pretty good texture. Would recommend trying these. -pan fried dumplings 3/5 the dumplings unfortunately let us down while the outside looks very good. I don't think they were cooked all the way as our shell of the dumpling was very doughy. The filling of the dumpling was not the greatest lack some flavor. On the side, they have two sauces available a black vinegar and a chili oil. The chili oil maybe I was unlucky, but I had a very big knob of ginger and the peppercorns which are numbing on the tongue. If you're looking for a cheap place to eat and try some new food, definitely can recommend this to give it a go

This location is smaller than the others but not quite as busy. My favourite is the braised pork pan fried buns which are super juicy. I like that most items are small portions so you can order a number of things to share. Prices are pretty good and the menu's pretty large so there's something for everyone. A solid lunch spot in the area.

Arrived around 3pm on a Sunday and it was half full! The restaurant was super clean and bright. It wasn't too loud and we just ordered via QR code. Food came really quick and I think my favourite was the pan fried pork buns and steamed dumplings. The tofu pudding was quite good and super generous portion for $2.99! The pan fried beef pancakes tasted really oily and the beef noodles didn't really hit the mark. though.

The food overall quality was good. They specialize in handmade dumplings. I enjoy there cold noodles as well which was vegetarian. As well some of there noodle soup dishes. The staff are very friendly and quick in there service. The shop.is kept clean and orderly.

Amazing time at mom's pan fried bun. Hands down my favourite items on the menu were the soup dumplings and the braised pan fried pork buns. I LOVE pan fried pork buns so when I found out they opened one near my home town I had to check it out. The pan fried pork buns were super crispy on the bottom and soft and chewy inside. We also the scallion pancakes, chive dumplings and beef pie. They have online ordering to the table with a QR code and physical menus. The service was very quick and servers were proactive with filling up my water and tea. Price points for the entire menu is super affordable and would definitely recommend this place!

This restaurant is always full *be prepared to wait a little * Food is freshly made, price is very affordable Service is friendly and fast restaurant is new and clean, recommend for quick but after work, but if you want to try it during your lunch hour between work, you might want to consider getting take out

I think the Newmarket/Aurora area is long awaiting this type of food. Very tasty and good without needing to go south to Markham! The chicken wings is also surprisingly very good! The only issue is that it's small so you may need to wait outside for a table.

I believe this is Mom's pan fried bun third location. I have never tried the other locations before so happy they open a new location in Newmarket. We went there on a long weekend Sunday I think they just opened a few days ago (Aug 1, 2024). We went on a Sunday 730p and still quite many people waiting. You have to scan the QR code on the wall when you enter and get in line; they will text you once table is ready. The staff are quite nice and one even came out with a menu and let you look at the options first. Once seated we have to scan the QR code on the table to order. Of course we have to order the pan fried buns. We got the 4 pcs fresh pork pan fried buns $7.99, the mom's special steamed pork soup dumplings (6 pcs) $5.99, the classic beef noodle soup $9.99 (we wanted the braised beef noodle soup but it wasn't available), and the steamed chicken in chili sauce $7.99. The classic beef noodle soup was quite nice, soup was flavorful, noodles was smooth and chewy, the beef slices were a tad bit tough, the fried pork chop is also marinated but I don't usually like deep fried stuff soaked in soup. I really wanted to try the beef pickled mustard rice noodle soup but heard it's quite spicy, maybe next time. There are also a few rice options. All are below $10 a bowl and of decent size. Onto the steamed chicken with chili sauce. It's a cold dish appetizer and the taste is as expected, not too spicy, tad bit numbing, not too too much tiny bones, overall a fair dish. Just a bit salty to my liking. Finally onto the two signature dish. First the soup dumpling. We really like to enjoy soup dumpling in one piece with the soup exploding in mouth and this soup dumpling definitely provides this effect. However the wrapper could be a bit thinner and the meat filling inside for some reason feels very soft. I'd want a bit more meaty texture. Then the fresh pork pan fried buns. I think this is one of my favorites and I mean that's literally the store name! The buns came out hot, with crispy bottom, the bun is so pillowy soft, and there's juice inside! Very well executed. Of course you can't let the bun sit for too long or it may make the bun soggy, leaving no meat juice. But we think the bun could be more perfect if they can maybe add some veggies. Overall, it's pretty good considering they just opened. The staff super attentive, very friendly, answering questions, attending to my needs, take away the finished dishes for us etc and even gave us a cute magnet! Definitely gave the Mom caring vibe. Btw they also have some staff wrapping dumplings and buns in the kitchen with glass window. Hope they can keep up the good work. P.s. no opening discount/promo. Same price cash/credit.

I love this place ever since it opened 5 minutes away from my house. It is quite busy but oh it is so worth it. My favourite items to order is their braised pork pan-fried buns - always piping hot, crispy on the bottom and so soft and savory. The leftovers are even better the next day too, just pop them in the air fryer and voila! My favourite thing on their menu is their shan xi cold noodles. I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE this dish. The noodles are bouncy and fresh, their sesame sauce is addicting not too sour from the black vinegar but just right. Their portions are amazing too. I can't get enough of this dish and I was so happy that I don't have to drive far for it. Used to always get it at the night festivals now it is literally down the street from me! Their pricings are fair and super worth it. I haven't been inside yet, been told that the wait is long and it is always busy but just order a head of time and you can easily pick it up! I would definitely recommend this place. So tasty, always fresh and their shan xi noodles are now one of my top favourite noodles! Happy eating fellow yelpers!

Love this place so much, food is always so good and the prices are affordable. It does get busy during peak times so try and go early! You can't order our soup dumplings but you can take out, and they are a must try from here! My fave place to get them!

It was fantastic value especially for those who like variety, it came with an egg roll, teriyaki beef, wontons, breaded shrimp, chicken chop suey, sweet & sour chicken balls, spare ribs & chicken fried rice. Also added a spring roll. "A little bit of everything" was a lot of food. The rice had a good wok flavour & the chop suey was pretty tasty too. There was quite a bit of chicken in both. The teriyaki beef was so-so. The rest of the items were battered & deep fried (even the spare ribs) & were ok; the sweet & sour sauce was the usual sweet goo. The outside of the egg roll broke & the inside was so-so. For the spring roll I chose pork (there's vegetable too). It was stuffed with 99% minced pork & had a simple soy sauce based flavour. It was pretty good.

A couple of times at work we have ordered takeout from here. But that was a while ago. And everyone always liked it. Wow things change We ordered the dinner for two. 2 Egg Rolls Chicken Chow Mein Sweet & Sour Spare Ribs Barbecue Pork Fried Rice I'll start off by saying the egg rolls and the chicken chow mein were tasted but not eaten. The egg rolls were overcooked but that's fine it just meant the outside is extra crispy but the inside tasted funny. I can't even explain it it was like beige chopped up things. One bite was all we could manage. The chicken chow mein was actually really gross. When we opened the container it smelled like cheap canned chicken soup, Itwas very liquidy and actually tasted like cheap chicken soup. One bite was all we had. The fried rice was okay. We ate it but it wasn't great like it used to be. And the sweet and sour spare ribs was good but I suspect it's a Jarred sauce that most Canadian style Chinese places used. You can't really mess up deep fried meat. Or I guess maybe they can. I will actually never go here again. The food wasn't I really have no idea how it's getting all these five stars. They're located in the same plaza, but in separate units. We went to the fine dining portion of the restaurant. The ambiance and interior décor were really nice, the inside was very clean, and the customer service was really good (a lot better than what you'd expect from a Chinese restaurant). There was live music (an actual singer) performing when we were there for a weekend dinner. It had a fine dining feel. I liked all the little details and ornament-like items that they used for the eating utensils (e.g. golden-plated chopstick rest, fancy soup bowl akin to the bowls used by Chinese emperors, etc.). They had both English and Chinese menus for you to choose. Although the service and overall experience were above average, the food was just average. The stand-outs for me were the Crab Meat & Corn Soup and Seafood Garlic Fried Rice. The soup had actual chunks of crab and a lot of corn, which I liked. The Seafood Garlic Fried Rice was moist and contained a good amount of seafood (small scallops, pieces of shrimps, shredded imitation crab). It was delicious and flavourful. The Scallops with Ginger and Onion was also good, with large scallops, sliced white onion, and I could really taste the ginger (with actual ginger pieces in the dish). Buddha's Delight Vegetables was a disappointment because it was too saucy and salty. It didn't contain bamboo shoots like the Buddha's Delight in some other Chinese places, but they had wood ear mushrooms which I liked.
