The approval n By FPL and local government took months of repeated visits before they got it right. We signed our contract in December 2024 and now, 15 months later, the project is still not complete. I sent over 20 emails, made 50+ text messages, and countless calls just to keep things moving. This has been the worst experience I've ever had installing a solar system. They are utterly disorganized and unprofessional. They use subcontractors, which makes everything incredibly confusing. They even failed the inspection but submitted paperwork to the loan company to get paid for the work that hadn't been completed. I wanted a solar battery, but after this experience, I will never be doing business with them again. I have SunRun on my other properties, but Mona Lee offered such a great deal that I went with it. The Great Disappearance Act Signed up with Mona Lee and everyone was very responsive. The quickly sent someone out to me house for a site visit. The person said I would hear back from them in 3 to 5 business days with an update. I received a bunch of automated emails letting me know they were working on it and to be patient. After two weeks I called because my roofer was concerned that no one had contacted them from Mona Lee. At that time they said that someone would get back to me but no one did. I followed up with the original sales person and he got back to me the next day to let me that they could not do my house because it is a post and beam house and the engineering seemed too complicated for them. Mind you, my house was always a post and beam house and I told them that. And the guy on the site visit saw that too. I wonder if they ever planned to say anything if I didn't follow up. So they cancelled my project and I asked that the $1,000 deposit they requested prior to the site visit be credited back to my credit card. I was told by the salesman that someone would reach out to me with details of when the funds would be returned. No one reached out to me. I contacted the salesman again to let him know that no one had gotten back to me. He said he would call them after Labor Day weekend and sent me an email that someone would reach out to me that week. After 2 weeks, I never heard from anyone and contacted the fraud division of my credit card company to seek a refund on my behalf. They were able to get my money back after Mona Lee never got back to them either. At this point, I feel like I dodged a bullet. I ended up losing my back-up bid and paying more to get the work done prior to the expiration of the tax credits on 12-31 but I feel like my local company will not leave me hanging and chasing them the way Mona Lee did. read more

So here is an update on my Tesla Power Wall project with Monalee. You can read my original review from 08/01/24 to get the pertinent background information. Yesterday was Monday December 16, 2024, and Monalee finally sent out a technician to make the necessary revisions in order to pass the inspection. He had to install 100 amp breakers in both the gateway and the subpanel, and affix safety stickers on the main panel. Later in the day, the city inspector came and signed off on the project. Finally, 10 days short of 5 months after the failed inspection, the project passed inspection. Let me fill you in on what transpired between August 1 and December 16. I mentioned in my previous review that I was being ghosted by Monalee, even after the initial inspection failed. After reaching out to and being ghosted by Chayse and Brittany shortly after the failed inspection in May, I also texted Andrew, who was my initial point of contact and someone who was always responsive in the past. Again, crickets. I had sent detailed information and documentation from the city inspector about the failed inspection, and the steps that were needed to rectify the situation. A few more weeks went by, and I decided to email Keith, whose title is "customer success manager". That seemed to get some results, as shortly afterwards, I received an email from Jimmy, who is from the title and licensing department. At first, Jimmy was responsive, and assured me that Monalee was working towards taking the necessary steps to pass the inspection. He didn't however, seem to have any of the information about the failed inspection that I had sent Chayse, Brittany and Andrew within the past 2 months. In this way, there seemed to be some sort of disconnect in the chain of communication between Monalee representatives. However, after a few weeks of back and forth emails, Jimmy also fell off the face of the earth. By this time, October was upon us. I emailed Keith again, and suddenly I received an email from Jun Lopez, whose title is inspection specialist. Jun seemed to have reviewed all the pertinent email chain going back to May and profusely apologized for the delays, and assured me that the revisions were being submitted to the city for approval. Jun was responsive for a couple of weeks, then also stopped responding. Finally, I received an email from Cameron White, whose title is field operations manager, and he finally confirmed on Thursday December 12 that the revisions and final inspection were scheduled on Monday December 16. If you have been following along, I think you sense a pattern here. Needless to say, I think it's fair to say that their communication skills and customer service leave a lot to be desired. I'm not sure if the issue is that they have a lot of turnover, which leads to people disappearing along with a sudden lack of communication, or if they engage in a system of just kicking you down the road from one person to the next. However, I have raised their star rating from 1 up to about a 2.5 (I'll round it up to 3). This is based on their competitive price, along with the fact that I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt and hopefully my case is more of an outlier than the norm. Everything up until the inspection was A+. But as much as I hate to say, their customer service after the failed inspection was nothing short of atrocious. The good news is, my Power Wall seems to working well, which of course is the first and foremost. I'll be back with another update if I run into issues and there is anything worth mentioning. That could work both ways, incidentally, so if you're reading this Monalee, don't forget that taking care of your existing customers can sometimes be more important than trying to attract new ones. read more

0 Star - Avoid at All Costs Don't get ripped off I deeply regret ever signing a contract with Mona Lee Inc. On November 10, 2024, I hired and paid them $60,000 to install a 24kW roof-mounted solar system on my home -- including 60 LONGi 400W panels, 3 Tesla inverters, and all the necessary electrical upgrades. The system was supposed to come with a 25-year warranty, and the inverters were warrantied for 12.5 years. Fast forward to March 2025: Mona Lee told me the installation was complete and demanded final payment. But when I checked the system performance through the Tesla app, it was clearly underproducing. We'd done our homework, and it was obvious something was wrong -- especially compared to our neighbors' much smaller systems that were generating far more power. At first, Mona Lee insisted there was no issue, but after we pushed back with data, they finally admitted one of the three inverters wasn't working. Tesla eventually fixed it remotely, and the system started working properly -- for about 60 days. Then, in late May, the system performance dropped off a cliff -- down to 60% production. Once again, we reached out to Mona Lee. This time they shoved us toward Tesla's app-based support, which is nothing but frustrating, automated AI troubleshooting. After wasting time with that, we asked for real help and got tossed back and forth between Tesla and Mona Lee. From May 30 onward, it's been a circus of excuses and empty promises. I was told a tech would be sent "ASAP." Then they told me it would be "2-3 days." Then "we're escalating the issue." Then... nothing. As of July, no technician has ever come, and my system -- a massive, expensive investment -- has now been mostly non-functional for nearly two months. I've sent multiple follow-up emails, including a registered letter to their corporate office. All of it has been ignored. Bottom line: Mona Lee Inc. takes your money, installs faulty equipment, and disappears the moment there's a problem. They blame Tesla, deflect responsibility, and offer zero accountability for the system they designed, installed, and guaranteed. My system worked for less than 20% of the time it's been installed, and I've been completely abandoned. If you value your time, money, or sanity, do not do business with Mona Lee Inc. I wouldn't trust them to install a lightbulb, let alone a solar system. read more

Got a great set of quotes for various Black Friday deal options and this was by far the best deal across 4-5 companies I talked to. Only one company matched them. (Think about just net metering , various types of credits possible for your state too, example for MA there's RAC PROGRAM, think battery vs no battery, long term warranty vs base vs standard warranty) depending on discount tiers. Right from the start to end of contract signing there was a lot of attention and transparency in the conversations. Scam. Paid in full for my battery + solar set up (29k in cash before rebates/gov incentives). The 3rd party they sent out to install had no idea what they were doing, couldn't explain how the system worked without looking confused. The set up looks terrible and not clean... there are actual metal pipes running down the length of my roof to the powerwall. It wasn't bringing in many Kws and now it doesn't even work. Getting in touch with anyone beyond the initial "we're sorry" customer service people, who are actually very nice, is impossible. Either no one has any power or they don't care to follow through. Since getting the system that their engineers swore up and down would cover our bill, we've paid over 1300 in PG&E costs and it hasn't even been a year. Stay away from these scam artists. read more

TERRIBLE company. Applied on line and was approved by Monalee and Goodleap their finance company. A week after both approvals I was notified that finance was declined due to an address error. My Monalee rep and myself tried to correct the error but could not. Another week lated I was "cancelled" because I live in a manufactured home. Over a year ago I had applied to Monalee and was approved and they did the inspection with photos of my home. When I applied this time I had to confirm the Goodle aerial photos of my home. Sunrun Solar asks up front if your home is a manufactured home and they as a company don't do manufactured homes. They have a policy but they cover it in advance. Monalee KNEW from their records and inspection I had a manufactured home. Monalee and Goodleap approved me in writing. The company is unprofessional and I would not recommend them. read more

I picked Mona Lee as I liked their no pressure sales team and ease of doing business. I compared prices with another company and they were hands down the better deal. The site inspector was great and the details of the site plan were frankly amazing. They used a drone and created a detailed map of my property, the roof, my existing solar system, etc. The plans they developed showed clearly where my existing system components were and where they would be installing the new system. My new system was being added as a non-export system, meaning no power goes back on the grid. We did this because that would have changed my NEM 2.0 status of my existing system to NEM 3.0, which frankly sucks. This is a new option and Mona Lee handled it well. The panels and invert got delivered to my house the day before the install, which was schedule very quickly after my roof was redone and my old system installed back. I helped unload everything as it was just one guy and it would have been a lot of work for a single person. The installers that came then next day were great. Super friendly, professional, and did amazing work. They finished in around 8 hours and got me all setup monitoring my new system after the normal "system updating" process. Tesla makes a pretty slick app for monitoring. I appreciated how well they cleaned up and painted the conduits to match my house color. Torn shingles and broken stucco to our roof and home exterior wall. They then have the audacity to send multiple demands for the final payment. Meanwhile, they can't even provide a remedy to repair our damaged roof. This company also scheduled 4 inspections (4 different days) with our city, which we took days off, while they pulled no-shows for. It hasn't even been a month since the inspection and our final payment the inverter wifi broke. We reached out to the and guess what? Yep! They completely disappeared and blocked all communication with us. We are also blocked from all of their social medias. Be very aware who you are dealing with. This isn't the company you want any association with and it's only a matter of time they hit the news. As I mentioned, this matter took almost a year and it's because of the lengthy correspondence I need time to compile to submit to all venues to make this company known, but rest assured that it will be done.
