Well, I never felt this bad before I just found out she…read moredon't want me no more If I get her in my sight Boom, boom, out go the lights (Little Walter) I'm on the Board of Directors for a non-profit and was booked at Embassy Suites by Hilton Detroit Metro Airport for our Mid-Year meeting. Their staff did an admirable job in dealing with a sudden emergency. We were sitting around a big table in their Dearborn Conference Room on Friday when around 6:30pm the area was hit with a power outage. Somewhere between 80,000 and 100,000 customers lost power, including the hotel. Whatever happened also affected the hotel generator, because that was knocked out too. No heat, no hot water, no electricity, no internet. The hotel staff did what they could and set up emergency contractor lights in the lobby area and dining area. I'm not sure how, but they were able to serve the traditional Embassy Suites hot breakfast the next morning. My visit got off to a great start, with a big suite room and an excellent check-in experience. Some of our party arrived early and we enjoyed their complimentary Happy Hour drinks and snacks. Their staff was wonderful -especially the food service workers who set up that hot breakfast in dim lighting. One of the guys made me laugh when he said eating breakfast in the cold and dark reminded him of being back in the service!

Hotel is conveniently located near the airport. Calissa who checked me in was very nice, friendly…read moreand professional. She informed me of hotel amenities and their hours of operation then directed me to my room. Room was fine, albeit a tad worn. I had a burger in the bar which was very good. Bartender was friendly and efficient. There was a loud, obnoxious woman at the bar who I was able to avoid until I spoke with a man at the bar. Evidently, she was a regular customer. She directed a comment toward me that was factually incorrect and when I attempted to explain to her why, she exploded and started screaming at me. I stepped away, gathered my stuff and waited for my check at the end of the bar farthest from her. She continued screaming at me from across the bar, raving loudly that she would pray for me--which I found particularly bizarre and rather scary. I asked her repeatedly to stop shouting at me. While waiting I had a polite conversation with a man at the end of the bar that I had purposefully placed between she and me. The bartender returned and she finally got her to stop screaming. I paid and left. In the morning at checkout I told the front desk person about my very negative and frightening experience. She apologized and said that they expect people not to "talk politics". I pointed out to her that Fox News was playing on every TV in the lobby and bar and she apologized again. I took the shuttle to the airport. Driver was nice and professional and even tried to help me obtain a cart. Despite other positive aspects of the hotel, I will not be returning to a place that allows crazy people to drink to oblivion then verbally attack other guests.

Stayed here for 2 nights. It was the lowest cost points option available in Detroit, and I can…read morekind of see why. What I liked and didn't like about this hotel. Liked - Super friendly check in guy. Farish? I think his name was. Chill guy. - Free parking. - Comfy beds and pillows. About that....the beds here were incredibly high. If you were a little person or a senior citizen, you might need a boost up into bed. - Huge room. - Location. Near lots of restaurants and near downtown Dearborn. Didn't Like - Dated room. The walls definitely needed to be scrubbed/painted. - Shower curtain. The shower curtain is not long enough. It didn't hang down in the tub, and when the water was turned on it created like a wind tunnel blowing the shower curtain around. - Pretty thin walls. The people above me had kids or something, and they were running around a lot. Super duper loud and a tad annoying. You could hear voices, other peoples cell phone alarms through the walls. Overall, for the price, this place is awesome. Can't beat it. It definitely needs some updating though and a good deep cleaning. Would I stay here again? Absolutely.

To say this room at this hotel was a horror show would be an understatement. We checked in and…read moreopened the door to our room. First thing was the smell of filth and stale cigarettes. Then the details emerged. The room was filthy. The light switch near the door had splatters of something on it. The floor was splattered. The chair has unknown substances on them. The counters were visibly filthy. Then the eye travels upwards over dirty walls to see the splatter on the heating. Is it blood? Candle wax? Something else? There was debris and splatter on literally every surface in the room. The sheets were torn. The towels had something on them. The shower curtain was dirty. There was black something (mold?) built up in the shower. The baseboards were coming off and there were bugs. There was hair in the bathroom. The dresser was missing a drawer and the drawers that were there had black debris that looked like bed bug feces. And there was a small dead bug that looked like a bed bug. There was more of this debris and trash in the top drawer. The room was missing a trash can. That is no matter though because it appears that you're supposed to just use the dresser. Housekeeping must have missed that memo because they didn't empty the trash from the prior occupants. They denied a refund and this chain is seemingly OK with presenting rooms like this to customers. Filth and bugs do not bother the staff here. They must like living in it. I will never ever stay at another hotel in this chain again. The dingy lobby should've been the first sign to run far far away. But now I'm stuck footing the bill for an unacceptable and uninhabitable room.
