We heard about Monarch Sofas from a friend who had ordered their custom couch a few years ago. After seeing how expensive and how limited the options were at other retailers, we decided to check out their showroom. Cat was very helpful from the minute we walked in. She helped explain all of the different options in styles, cushion fills, details, fabric choices, etc. Since we already had an idea of the general style we wanted, the whole process was pretty easy/straight forward. We provided Cat with the measurements/length we wanted and she gave us a price quote right on the spot. We were very happy to find that our 9'x7' sectional with the fabric, legs, and details we selected would be in our price range. I am sure that the style couch we were looking for would have been outrageously priced (and probably not the right measurements) if we had purchased it anywhere else like West Elm, Pottery Barn - or it would have been poor quality if we had bought it at a Living Spaces, etc. Delivery did take a little longer than expected, but when we called to follow-up with Cat she tracked down our order right away and it was delivered within a week. Use to be a decent deal. I have purchased 3 sofas but I won't be buying anymore in the future their pricing went up 60% in a matter of a couple years. The quality is is ok, but because of price I kept coming back until now. Customer service is subpar and don't try to get them to look up your order status close to 5pm cause they won't work one minute past 5pm. It's more about them than you. read more

Wow - this is one incredible company! Price, quality, and customer service all went well beyond my expectations. Two years ago, we purchased a very narrow (rental) townhouse that required custom made furniture. I was pleasantly surprised that "custom" did not translate into unaffordable...in fact, the pieces that were made for me (a couch and a chair) were less than similar items I had been looking at in Crate and Barrel. When the product arrived, I was even more pleased as the craftsmanship and overall quality seemed much higher than the big-box store items I had been considering. Flash forward a few years and now there were a few stains on the seat cushions. Steven at Monarch Sofa was incredibly responsive and helped me through the process of ordering a second set of cushion covers (as a rental, i now needed 2 sets so that I could dry-clean one while keeping the other for renters). He bumped my order to the front of the line, kept me informed of the time frame, and made sure the process was completely smooth. I could not have had a better experience as an initial customer, and as a repeat customer. If I have any future furniture needs for my own home, Monarch Sofa will be the only place I would consider! read more

Horrible customer service. I requested a quote online and didn't get a respond back so I called. The lady on the phone was extremely rude and said it hasn't been 48 and to wait and call back tomorrow. I called back the next day and got someone who said their emails often go to junk folder and yup there it was. That lady wasted a whole day! Then the person responded was Steven, who after a week of back and forth stopped responding so I called. When he got on the phone he seemed annoyed by the fact that I had questions. At the end of the conversation I asked him to repeat something that he said earlier in the conversation and he become agitated. Because of the wait times I wanted to put in an order asap and was told I couldn't do that, I would have to wait for their fabric department to reach out to me, they will then send me swatches and then I can order the sofa. When I already know and was willing to request it in writing what kind of fabric I wanted. I am still waiting for the "fabric department" to call me 2 days later. We love our Monarch sofa for so many reasons. Obviously it looks great and the design is so functional for what we need. The design rep was very helpful in making sure all the customized details were just right. We wanted it to sit higher because we have an amazing view of the Pacific Ocean and wanted to see over our balcony rail. The seat height is perfect for that and it's so firm and sitting on it is a dream. We plan on getting accent pillows soon but for now we're enjoying the couch as it is. Also, we will be purchasing a similar couch from Monarch as a full size sleeper to make it a set. We can order over the phone or online now that we know the style we want. They are very patient in letting us take our time deciding on the fabric we want. There was some confusion as to the timing of when the couch was ready and when the delivery would take place, but we worked through it. We appreciate your efforts for us...thanks Monarch! read more

I bought my custom couch from Monarch and it was delivered today. Steven was great! Very patient and welcoming. He was present when we had questions, but backed off while I was pondering. I felt totally able to get the help I need, but with the space not to feel pressured. I love the couch. I was able to pick the style (out of many) the fabric (over a ton of choices) and the weight and texture of the cushion style and filling. I'm very pleased. They had movers bring it to my home and those guys were fantastic. Totally worth the delivery fee because there's no way I would have been able to get it in. They worked it like a puzzle. I previously bought a couch at Monarch so I returned to have them make the cushions for a large window seat in my house. They said they would be happy to make the custom order for me and they gave me a price for the project which I accepted. I asked them to put together an invoice so I could approve it and we could get started. Over the next month, they had one delay after another while I waited patiently for them to give me a simple invoice. After an entire month, they came back with an invoice that said their cushions will likely not fit together properly, the fabric may have rippling, the cushions may be wear unevenly, and if there are any problems such as the cushions don't fit or the fabric buckles, I have to pay them to fix them to make the cushions fit the way they were supposed to fit in the first place. Are you kidding me? I waited a month for that? No customer in their right mind would ever agree to buy cushions under those conditions and they should have told me that on day one. What an absolute waste of time. This is a completely unprofessional operation and I will never go back. This was copied directly out of Monarch's invoice: * ALL DIMENSIONS CAN BE OFF BY UP TO 1" IN EITHER DIRECTION. EXACT SIZES NOT GUARANTEED * Cushions likely, WON'T FIT properly, since everything is made by hand. * All dimensions were provided by the customer, Monarch Sofas is not responsible if the cushions don't fit in any way. * If cushions need to be repaired, it would be at the cost of the customer (including, but not limited to shipping.) * Customer was advised, cushions may not fit exactly flush, as we don't have the specific space to have them fitted/etc. * Cushion is not warrantied against rippling. * Bench seats may cause the cushions to wear more unevenly, and may cause rippling in the fabric. * Customer is proceeding with Back Cushions that are longer than recommended, which may not hold their shape as well, and require additional maintenance. Could not be happier with both the quality of the sofa and chairs I got from Monarch. The amazingly low price ($3200 for a 7 foot sofa and two matching armchairs) was matched by their eternally patient customer service rep Mike. I was trying to find a Danish Modern sectional in Missoula Montana. Nothing. I found Monarch Sofas on line with exactly the design I had in mind. I had excellent help making sure the size was correct and lots of leather choices. The sofa is stunning. It was delivered within the estimated time frame. The only problem I have had was it was damaged in shipping. It is now repaired, but I did not get the support I would have expected from Monarch to execute the repairs. I had to handle them on my own. I am still waiting to be reimbursed the repair fee from the shipping company - although I have been told 'the check is in the mail'. Still love the sofa. read more

This store is perfect for people with specific style ideas for their furniture. I don't know of any other store that let you choose the fabric, height, depth, and firmness to your very own liking. We even got to choose the height of the armrests. Stephanie was so helpful, but not all pushy. We went in there to look around and thought about designing a sofa. Then we thought we'd just by one at a traditional store. The problem was that we couldn't find anything just right. I had an add on chair piece made to extend the sofa I had made about 2 years ago. The fabric matched perfectly and the sofa is a custom fit in the room. I was so happy with how everything went at every stage that a few months after my sectional sofa arrived I spontaneously sent an email to Monarch sofas just to tell them as much. I had searched for "the perfect sofa" for me for about ten months, all to no avail. There would be some that would come very close...but then have one element - price, comfort, size, etc. - that ultimately fell short. It wasn't until a friend of mine who had used Monarch for her sofa (which I had admired while over for dinner one night) told me about this company that I was able to build the sofa I wanted with all aspect within my desired parameters, including price. We purchased two love seats from Monarch sofa about 6 months ago. We looked everywhere for the size we needed, since our space was limited. We also wanted to be able to choose the material from a large selection. Monarch had exactly what we wanted. We were able to choose the style, stuffing, length, material and legs. No other furniture company was able to provide this within our budget. The delivery took less time then we expected. It's been 5 months since we've had them delivered and we love them so much! After sitting in them for several hours, once we stand up the couch goes back to it's original position and they look as if we just had them delivered. read more

I ordered the Katie couch from them and was thrilled with the results. They said it would take about 6 weeks to arrive, but it came within a month. While I checked quite a few competitors, Room and Board, Living Spaces, Macy's - I was never satisfied with their choices, and knew I could customize what I wanted - size and materials, all falling within those price points. One slight glitch was when they forgot to include the arm rests pieces I ordered, but I got a quick response back from them, and they got them to me within a couple of weeks. I was really nervous buying a sofa from them because of the negative reviews here. This is why I am posting. The service from the 2 sales staff there (at the La Cienega store) wasn't too helpful. Yes, they were there, but they are certainly not sales people, nor should they be working with customers. As the woman Jennifer put it "she doesn't get commissions". Also it is uncomfortable that you can't put the second half of your payment on a credit card, but that's the short of the negative and the only reason I took one star off. If you are self sufficient, then you are good. I stressed the whole time till I received the sofa. I read about it half falling out of a truck on one review. Well, it did come on the back of a pick up, but it was all wrapped up. The two kids that delivered it were very nice. The sofa is really great. It has been awhile since I got the sofa. I wanted to see if it was going to wear before I wrote my review, and it is holding up great. Every time I sit in it I say to myself "I really like this sofa! I am so glad I got it"! I am a perfectionist, that is quite a statement knowing me. I recommend them, they didn't disappoint. All that stressing for nothing. read more

We ordered a sectional back in 2011, when this company was still called Sofa Crafters.. When the sofa came I realized we had made a huge mistake, we wanted a sofa with curved arms so we picked a model for the show room not realizing it was up against a wall and it turned out to be the biggest sofa style in the showroom. The sofa sits in the center of our living room and has a curved corner.. it looks like a spaceship. Also I am 5' 3" and I feel like a little child sitting on the sofa. Unfortunately, the sales people are just order takers and do not have any design background. When I asked questions about what was better and "L" shape or a "curve" . our sales person said it was up to us.. I tried to describe that the sofa was in the center of our room.. so what did he think would work best...again he said it was up to us. After I complained for two months and sent photos and several letters, they said they would take the sofa back and sell me another one half price. The only problem with that is that I did not want another sofa from this company. It has been almost four years now.. and I am also not very happy with the quality of the sofa... it is uneven and they had put the wrong legs to begin with and we had to beg for new ones....I have to have two new pillows made for the sofa because our puppies chewed a hole in two of them when left unsupervised.... the upholsterer I went to asked why Ididn't go back to the company that made the sofa to replace them.. and I told him I was so unhappy with the experience of using them that I wouldn't consider going back. I went to the Sofa Company to buy the material ( which they happily sold me )... and wished I had ordered the sofa from them in the first place. The customer service is much better. I will be very happy when I have the funds to replace the sofa I bought from this company and buy one that actually works in my space. I will definitely be using different company. read more
