I always enjoy a good Thai food spot. This is a great spot near the ocean with a cool breeze. My favorite dish here is their Green curry with fish which makes your taste buds dance for joy and satisfaction guaranteed. The flavors are delicious and the pops with each bite. Another great option is their Drunken noodles. You ask how do I wash these items down to keep that satisfaction? A nice smooth Thai iced tea. Delicious food. I love that there are 3 pages of vegetarian options! Started with the tom kha cup- very tasty and lots of veggies. My husband and I got food poisoning. Their chicken either wasn't cooked throughly or was contaminated. On Saturday May 16 we arrived at 8:15 and were seated right away . Food came quick . Maybe they rushed since they close at 9pm . I had ordered their Jade Garden (58a) and my husband ordered Blazing Zircon (56).Sunday morning at 5 AM we both got up with sever diarrhea and vomiting . Continued through Monday when we had to miss work and go to see a doctor . We were diagnosed with classic food poisoning. Today Tuesday the 19th still have residual stomach growling . Authentic Thai food for a reasonable price. We stumbled on this place when we were looking for a lunch spot at 2pm. Fortunately they were open and there weren't too many people. The food came out fast. The fried shrimp, calamari, crab fried rice, pad see ew - they were all huge portions and so very tasty. We snarfed it all down and we had so much food left over. Value for your money indeed. I love unpretentious restaurants whose only goal is to please the customer's palate. The objective was definitely met! I used DoorDash to order, and DoorDash didn't disappoint, but the food was absolutely poor. For $9, I got coconut soup. It had three shrimp in it. Flavor was okay, not great. I ordered pad thai, and I had to order extra peanut sauce because the last time I tried it, it was so dry. What a delightful evening at Mongkut Thai. With most of the restaurant's business being takeout (post COVID) we were one of just a few full tables in the restaurant. Went here for dinner a couple of days ago and honestly no complaints food was great and staff was so sweet. ALSO tons of vegetarian options!!! We got their to tofu wraps, diamond noodles, and a curry (not pictured). Everything was amazing and the perfect amount of food between 3 people. The family wanted to try Thai in another area. We learned that if we live in an area with great Thai food, no need to venture out. Service was kind and as attentive as possible. We had high expectations because majority of the reviews are good and the restaurant was packed. It stayed busy the entire time we were there. We ordered the drunken noodles, seafood soup, the appetizer platter, and crab fried rice. The drunken noodles were ok. The appetizer platter was over cooked and the presentation was not appetizing at all. The food just didn't have good flavor and not properly cooked. In town for my best friend's baby shower and needed a place to meet for dinner. Since Thai is a go to for me and we are both indecisive when it comes to food, we decided to go to Mongkut. We got there a bit early so we waited outside until they opened. Once they opened, we were seated immediately and served water. We ordered the Tom Yum soup with chicken and though the soup base was delicious, the chicken was overcooked. This seemed to be a trend with the chicken. I wish this could be a better review. But honestly it just was not good. We ordered the Pad Thai and the seafood stir fry. First off, the portions were very small. The seafood stir fry had only 3 shrimps and 2 scallops and some calamari. All that for $24.00, and did not come with rice, so that was another $2.00. The pad Thai was really just gross. It came out like warm and was very dry. There was barely any chicken and the tofu was on the verge of spoiled. I should had sent it back, but was thankful that they were open on Christmas Day. I Ordered Pad thai with beef and thai Tea via doordash for dinner and like one of the review stated that they didn't put in utensils even though I requested them, which is fine since I was eating at home anyways but I can see it's a bit of an inconvenience if someone was doing take out to eat at the beach or if they just move in a new place. The thai tea was okay, had better one, I wish I added a note to make the beef pad thai, thai level spicy because spicy wasn't doing it for me. Lots of beef in the pad thai, no skipping on the protein there. Again, this is also on Del Mar, near the pier and the beach. So if anyone planning to get thai food to eat the beach, be sure to have utensils in your car or be sure to let them know. Call your doordash driver too. read more

From the moment we walked in was let down place was not very packed but someone had a stroller blocking door was hard for us to find a seat seating is cramped up. Took very long to get our order even to get some water doesn't seem to be much order. We were very hungry we ordered a lot of food. Food took long to get we ordered the seafood soup which didn't have much seafood and tasted sweet for some reason. The drunken noodles were pretty dry not much flavor the crab fried rice was not that great we ordered the sampler appetizer platter to get a taste of all the appetizer and it was cold lacking presentation. Wife ordered a chicken curry and it lacked flavor over all was disappointed with food. We were looking for a new inexpensive place to have lunch in downtown San Clemente. We discovered this little Thai restaurant and decided to give it a try. It has a simple clean interior, a bit on the dark side. We were greeted by the server as we entered and we picked a table. We were served water and regular menus along with a lunch menu was provided. The lunch menu is amazing. Everything is $12.99 and it includes a salad, spring roll and an entree. One side of the lunch menu lists all of the vegetarian entrees and the other side are the meat entrees. I chose Emerald Curry, a vegetarian entree that was delicious. It was a tad bit spicy but not too spicy. Two mounds of rice was served along with a bowl full of green curry and fresh vegetables. I would definitely go back! read more

Customers around us were constantly asked about their food, it was like "everything is okay? " & proactively refill water for those people. Overall extremely disappointing since although we have not eaten there for several years, it used to be our favorite Thai restaurant. I love Thai food. Is its got fish sauce, garlic and lime juice, I am in the right place! You absolutely must try their Ribs. Sweet, cooked over coals, tender... YUMMY! I would also recommend getting the spicy beef salad, crying tiger, BBQ chicken and take home some of their dressing. I took some home and put it in a squirt bottle to put on top of literally everything. Its a nice balance of fish sauce and lime. So good on everything.
