I love the experience of having my food grilled in front of me. I liked choosing what I wanted for my dish and went up for two servings. I appreciated that the cook asked if I liked sauce and made me his own sauce concoction to add to my noodles. I liked it and I loved how friendly they were. My server was super sweet and helpful and even though it got busy she made sure to give me glances to check on me. First time visit: for what it is, it was good! 4 stars for the experience as a whole 3 stars for the food We all got the all-you-can eat lunch option. I'd never been this chain before, but my partner has, and so it was my first time doing a buffet where they cook the food for you. It came with a choice of hot and sour or egg drop soup and it also came with a spring roll. The hot and sour soup was not good and we didn't eat it. The egg drop was a little weird tasting, maybe from the added corn and carrot, but edible. I didn't have the egg roll but was told by my partner and son that they were good. Because the soups were questionable, that knocked off a star and definitely makes me wonder how the other prepared dishes, a.k.a. not the DIY buffet, would taste. For the buffet, we picked out our meat, veggies, and sauce and a gentleman cooked it for us on a giant flat grill. My first go around I made the mistake of not adding enough sauce. Their recommendations look to be at least six small ladles full. The second time I did that and it turned out much better. The servers were all extremely friendly and attentive! That gets an extra star. We went in around 11:30 and there were multiple families there and by noon the place was packed. I think the buffet is a great option for people who are on restrictive diets (aside from say cross contamination from being cooked on the flat grill with other items.) You can choose what you want, so for keto diets it is great. I often have difficulty finding places to eat due to being keto/carnivore, so this was a great option. Is it 5 star dining? No, but it's not trying to be. It was clean and making your own dish was fun, decently tasty and a great price. It was a good option for an affordable lunch. We will be back! read more

So our family had just come from a long drive so they stopped by to eat some food and wow, what a rude and disrespectful owner. According to Google, it stated that they closed at 9:45 so when arriving around 8, rather than telling us, sorry we're closed, they told us to sit down. The owners bad attitude all started when we told her that only three people out of six were going to eat. She literally looked at her watch and came and took the silverware and placemats of the people who not going to eat. Overall, the owner was so mean, rude and disrespectful and literally told us that we can eat and sleep there and that she would come the next morning. Even after telling her that we were going to pay for the food, she literally kicked us out and told us to leave. Would absolutely not recommend this place. Not worth it. read more

The person taking our order was very professional and polite however the wait staff brought the food out at different times and I was almost finished my meal before my father was brought his. The wait staff rarely checked on us--One was sitting at the front on his phone not seeming to pay attention to the needs of the patrons. The bathroom was absolutely gross. Urine and stool stains on the back of the toilet and floor. The bathroom door was stained brown from soiled, greasy hands. If the bathroom was this filthy, what was the kitchen like? Serving size is the best of any Asian restaurants in Durango and the food is decent. What is never decent or satisfying is just how rude the employees at this eatery are and it's almost as they take pride at being consistently rude. The employees at The May Palace and The China Cafe are exceptionally nice but the portions at those places (especially protein) are small and the dishes are not consistently good. ASIAN RESTAURANTS in Durango, please take note that consistency make for a more enjoyable meal and why can't any of the the Asian places get that desirable smoke flavour in their dishes. My family drove into town on Friday evening and came in after closing. Instead of being polite and saying I'm sorry we just closed. The "owner" decided to sit my family down because she wanted to make money. Only two adults and a small child needed to eat so I guess that upset her and even though she took the time to sit them and cook the food. She kicked them out of the restaurant hungry from a 13 hr drive and yelled at them to leave because the full table wasn't going to eat. It would have much easier to politely say "I'm sorry we are closed" but she was very rude and disrespectful to my family. We will not be coming back. Very disappointed. read more

My fiancé picked this place for lunch while we were in Durango for vacation and I really liked it. We went around 1pm on a Tuesday and there were quite a few people inside having lunch. We were seated promptly and, once we ordered, our food was brought out quickly. I had the beef and broccoli and I thought it was really tasty! My fiancé had the Buffet and he liked it also. We went with our two year old and they were so nice and accommodating. They brought out an extra plate so I could share my meal with her since we usually don't order her something as she never eats much. My only complaint was the egg roll, I didn't like it at all. What a wonderful place we found for great service, and excellent food. We stopped in on a Sunday and the place was quite busy. We ordered from the menu and had dinner b with five entrees. We tried the sizzling beef, General Tso Chicken, Happy family, Orange chicken and Sesame chicken. Everything from the wonton soup to the entrees was hot and delicious. Our waiter kept our drinks full and replenished our rice upon request. I will definitely be back to try the other entrees on the menu. The sizzling beef had a Smokey taste to it they made it unique and the Generals Tso was crisp and spicy. Great customer service is the key here. read more

So I come here for thier lunch special that always feels like a deal at under 9 dollars for soup, egg roll, rice and entree it's always more then I can finish. The food comes out fast and I've never had to wait more the 2 minutes for a table. Its probably average for its food quality. But I've never gotten a bad meal here. Allot of my big eater friends and picky eater Boyfriend all love this place because of the all you can eat buffet Mongolian grill set up. How it works is you pick out all the raw ingredients you want, build your own sauce and they take it and cook it up right in front of you on a huge flattop. It's fun to watch, you can go as many times as you like and it's exactly how you want it. Plus it still comes with soup and an egg roll!! This is a good place for large groups as well, since they can put lots of tables together to accommodate everyone. Normally when you see "Grill", you think barbecue and you'd be partially correct. Mongolian Grill does have barbecue, but Chinese style; and, in general, awesome Chinese food throughout their vast menu. The interior is open, airy and bright; the all you eat buffet and grill situated away from the main dining area, so no people crowding near the tables while getting their food. This is a family run establishment and they're all friendly, and attentive to the needs of their guests. After ordering, condiments and rice are placed on your table. The egg drop soup is light in flavor and taste; the wonton soup's broth is highly seasoned with black pepper and the wontons themselves are out of this world. We wanted to sample all the appetizers, so ordered the Pu Pu Platter for Two (minimum order); it was all outstanding! No one appetizer outshone the others, they were all done very well in taste, flavor and texture. The Beef Ho Fun is very similar to Cantonese Chow Fun except the noodles are not as wide. Mongolian Grill did an excellent job on this dish with thinly sliced grilled beef and perfectly cooked noodles. It all tasted just as yummy when I reheated the leftovers the next day. The Sizzling 3 Flavor with Vegetables is a House Specialty which contains chicken, beef, shrimp and vegetables in a rich, savory brown sauce. It is presented on a very hot cast iron platter; the food sizzling and steaming; absolutely delicious! Sadly, we have one complaint about Mongolian Grill; they are not in our own area and we have to travel two hours for the opportunity of enjoying their wonderful atmosphere and, most especially, the food. A Mongolian Grill place that has Chinese characters that say "Beijing"? I was hoping I would have higher marks for this casual restaurant since they serve my people's food, but sadly.. it's average at best. The lunch rice plate I ordered was the Garlic Sauce Tofu Over Rice. This dish disappointed me because 1) the sauce isn't garlic sauce. It's just a chili sauce/sweet and sour sauce. I've had authentic garlic sauce dishes aplenty in my days, so I didn't appreciate them serving something that wasn't what it was supposed to be. Additionally, 2) the fake garlic sauce was overly-doused all over the tofu and stir-fried veggies (peppers, onions) and ended up ruining the dish. I found myself desperately scraping the sauce away from the rice and tofu/veggies so that I could try to taste the actual food. Another thing that happened which soured this experience was I asked the waiter if I could modify a dish. For their lunch plates, they have a Garlic Sauce Chicken Over Rice and a Garlic Sauce Tofu Over Rice. I asked if I could get Garlic Sauce Chicken and Tofu instead? The waiter went to check with management and returned with a No. Okay, I understand these lunch plates are cheap (under $8) so if money was a concern, I wouldn't want double portion. So I further asked, what if you give me less chicken and less tofu? Basically, I just want a little bit of chicken AND tofu. The guy came back with another stern No which I found to be rather unreasonable. This IS a restaurant right? How hard could it be to mix a little bit of tofu with chicken?! Anyways. To summarize, this was a poor dining experience. Please don't over-douse the fake garlic sauce over your dishes so that your patrons might actually taste the food itself; also it might be good to consider being to accommodate requests to modify dishes that are within reason. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. In a word, terrible. Ordered fried rice, got white rice. Ordered almond chicken. I've never seen any almond chicken like it. Dry fried chicken strips with ground peanuts on top and light brown gray. The sweet and sour pork was worse. Find someplace else to eat. read more

Terrible food, awful service and maybe the rudest people I have ever dealt with. Completely botched out take out order, and told me to take the food back if I wanted a refund. I live 20 minutes out of town and they said I could not eat any of it if I wanted a refund. I had 4 adults and 3 hungry kids waiting to eat so of course we ate some of it. Well we all had a small plate and the rest went in the trash because it was disgusting. And there was hair in one of the dishes. Don't go here, these people do not deserve your money. read more

OMG. Some of the worst Chinese ever. I had beef lo mien. As Rodney Dangerfield said " you could still see the marks where the jockey was hitting it". Chewy and tasteless. Yuck. Bland noodles, sticky old fried rice. Egg drop soup was slightly edible but only because I couldn't eat much else, and I was starving. On a bright note I had excellent service and they heated my saki in a tea kettle filled with hot water. I liked that better than the microwaved hot saki. However....don't eat there if you like food. Normally I am a big fan of Mongolian BBQ, but something seemed off here. The sauce seemed weak and even with extra sauce added, my meal was still bland. If you want quantity and not necessarily quality $10.95 is good for all you can eat. Only had 1 serving, and it just did not hit the mark. Messing up our drink orders did not help the situation. My 10 year old had to pay full price. Not sure we really got our moneys worth. Good luck on you adventure, there are many other places in Durango I would try before coming back. read more

Love the Mongolian BBQ style and they did a pretty good job at this place. I would have like a few more options to create your dish, including some more sauces, but the food was generally very good. I got the impression more than half the customers ate from the menu instead of the grill which of course is fine.
