A quiet steakhouse- how refreshing! We could hear each other! We were a party of four, in a great booth near the piano. My husband and I had the NY strip, our friends had the black cod and the filet. All of us were pleased. It IS pricy but Tessa gave us excellent service and there was no complaint when I asked to substitute sliced tomatoes for a side. I do wish there were some non-starch/lower carb sides. The Caesar salad was good, as well. We will go back for a special occasion and hopefully partake of a starter and a dessert! Very overrated and disappointing. I had made reservation a month in advance for anniversary, hostess seated us next to entrance. We asked for a different table away from door but hostess said they were completely booked out and none available. We look around the restaurant and several tables empty. After ordering cocktails, it took 20 minutes to arrive, then made the mistake of ordering dinner after we received our cocktails and then waited another 55 minutes food. Both food and cocktails very overrated for price they are charging even for Durango. By the way, after being there almost 2hours there were several tables still available, hostess had lied. Beware, this is not even close to the Old Ore House for quality of product and service. read more

The decor is beautiful. The menu is minimal. Prices are very high. We have been to restaurants all around the world and Serafina wins for the worst. Minimal food on the plate. Don't go hungry. Yesterday asked for a booth. Told these were for parties five! Really not four or six. Arrived at five with only one other table seated. We were ushered into a room with no other patrons. One of their associates came to our table. He said the seating is pre planned. No regard for customer requests. My husband had a filet for $75. Macaroni and cheese (could have been out of a box) and three sprigs of broccolini. 6 scallops gnocchi and broccolini for me for $48. The server Alex was the only good part of the evening. I tried this new restaurant tonight, and it exceeded my expectations. The food was so good. I got the Rib eye steak ( medium ) perfection. Got the mushroom whisky sauce to go with it. That was a game changer. Beyond delicious. Got a side of the sweet potato mash, soooo yummy. My son got the bone marrow burger. The best burger ever! My mom had the sea bass with hazelnut rice and broccolini. Delicious! The service was fantastic too, Thank you Teal Kudos to the chef.... This place is the BEST restaurant in Durango. Loved the decor, the low lighting and the piano is a really nice touch too. Great job read more

We were so excited to this new restaurant in town. We had reservations and were a few minutes early so they wanted us to sit at the bar and wait the 5 minutes till our reservation time. Which was fine except my MIL cannot get up on high chairs because of her age and knees. So that didn't work. They went ahead and sat us at our table and we just had to wait till our reservation time to get served. Our waitress was very nice. She was professional and friendly. We got our food and the food was good. But for a high end restaurant with the prices they charge, it didn't live up to our expectations. Our desserts were very good. Only issue I had is, for your Birthday they offer you a free dessert ( so excited), but it's not a dessert of your choice and it's not even on the menu. Which was very disappointing to me. So in ordered to have the dessert I wanted we had to pay for it. The free dessert was differently lower standard than the ones on the menu. The atmosphere was very nice. Very relaxing and quiet. The beef tenderloin and the pork porterhouse were perfection. Our waitress was professional and charming. Ambiance of the place reminds us of the Capital Grill in Denver or the Dakota in Dallas. All are club/lounge settings which provide excellence. I was intrigued by the restaurant's creative architecture integrating the restaurant with a prominent two story glass "illuminated" elevator and shaft of an office building that shares a single wall between them. I found myself occasionally being entertained by comings and goings. My wife and the couple we were with shared a wonderful evening. Once again, dining in Durango is full of pleasant surprises. Lamenting the loss of the Ore House, my wife and I have continued to search for a new "special occasion" restaurant in town. Serafina looked like it might fill the bill. It did. Just not the way we wanted. The ambiance feels old school steakhouse. Dark, woody, a piano somewhere. We couldn't really tell as we were parked at a small table just inside the front door. Our server, Jessy, was great - attentive and helpful. Unfortunately, the chef was less so and denied our request to share a steak at differing degrees of doneness. A friend had recommended the tequila shrimp appetizer. It was flavorful and nicely prepared in cream sauce, but four shrimp for $24 was seriously overpriced. And for a steakhouse that considers itself "fine dining" it would have been nice to maybe have some warm bread included. The main courses continued the theme. The pink peppercorn halibut sounded more interesting than it was. Although there was nothing wrong with the dish, it was just average. The 48 buck price tag deserved better, however. The same was true for the beef tenderloin filet. It was on the small size (although listed as 8 oz.) and good quality but did not warrant the (newly increased) price of $70. Dinner for two (drinks, appetizer, and two mains) passed the $200 mark. At half that bill, it would still have been expensive but not unreasonable. Serafina seems to be geared toward the Telluride and Vail crowds. Good, but unexceptional food at outrageous prices. I think Durango tourists, and locals, are looking for something else. Ambiance A+, service B- because the food and drinks took too much time and the $70 ribeye and sides (broccolini and twice cooked potato) was lukewarm warm! The specialty drinks had ice to the top of the glass garnering a paltry amount of drink! I don't pay $500+ for a party of 4 for Ambiance! read more

Very overpriced for what you get. The sides and the scallop entree were lukewarm or cool. The strip steak was very average for $55. Service and ambience were good. Might come back for a happy hour drink, but not for dinner. read more

couldn't seat a party over 4. we had 2 tables but they wouldn't let the second 1/2 of the party until their reservation. they couldn't even sit and wait. hostess was rude. waiter didn't know menu items very well. food was good but services wasn't. salad brought with dinner at our table and the other table had appetizers. our salad could have been served then. read more

First time patron and had a party of four. The atmosphere is dark, cosy and comfortable. I also appreciated the sounds were muted, unlike many restaurants where the noise levels make it difficult to hear tablemates or staff. I have only one complaint, which I will bring up last. We had a variety of meals, both beef and seafood. The service was excellent both those who greeted us and escorted us to our tables and the waitstaff. Our food was prepared as we asked and all agreed tasted quite good. The proportions were generous...except, in my opinion, our appetizer. We ordered bread with wine butter. We got exactly that but there were only three quite small pieces. I asked the waiter how that was suppose to work for a party of four and our waiter said that is how it comes. Yes, we could have ordered a second one but then we would have six pieces for a party of four (and too much butter.) So, if you are going to Serafina's, just be aware each person must order an appetizer if you actually expect to be able to share. read more
