This company is probably one of the better Thai places in Durango. Unfortunately, we do not have many options. I specifically let the ownership know that I was on a low-carb diet so I didn't want any noodles or rice. The woman that I was speaking to before told me to order off of their paper menu and she told me what numbers to consider, which were #5 and down through #22. I've only eaten here once before and took her suggestion literally. I guess it's the brother, or Manager as he stated on the phone that took my order. I asked for a number 9 without rice, and it's listed under rice dishes. When I got home with my food, it was filled with noodles. I called to note the consistency and he turned it around on me stating that this is a noodle dish that is also served with rice and I only asked for no rice. I tried to point out to him that nowhere under the ingredients mentioned does it list any noodles on this dish. He never understood my reasoning and said that there were pictures that were there of the dishes that I should have used when making my order. I didn't see that there were any noodles on this that I needed to omit from my order. For all I knew these were rice noodles or an option. I am also not used to seeing both noodles and rice on the same dish and he stated that these were tapioca noodles, not rice, so that's why they came. I could see his point, but he could not see mine. He accused me of harassing him, which I felt was rather strong because I simply called in a calm voice, trying to explain my logic, but he did not care at all. He said this was my fault entirely, which I don't agree with but you can see the picture of the menu for yourself. At the end of the day, if a customer has a concern or a complaint, they simply want to be heard. There was no apology for any misunderstanding. There was no customer service tone in anyway, I even had to ask him to stop interrupting me for just a minute so I could complete a sentence. If anything, I simply wanted to have them acknowledge what happened so it can help other customers in the future. As far as the food, there was no depth of flavor. I ordered it medium which was recommended since I cannot handle "Thai" hot. I give this dish a 2.5/5 on just the flavor as it was missing something. I give my experience a 1 for the overall rating. It's not saucy but I didn't know what to expect. However, given the size of the serving, it could have used more mushrooms, cilantro, and peanuts to balance out the dish. It came loaded with bamboo shoots, noodles and there was ample onion and pork, but the pork was tough. The female there was very nice but this guy obviously ruined it for me. read more

Impressively good. We had the yum woo-sen and the green curry. excellent fresh flavors. Piping hot. Medium is on the spicier side. Consider mild+. I hesitate to say this, because the meal was decadent and flavorful, but it also felt healthy with less sugar and less oil than the usual Thai food. I'll come back for sure. It's more of a take out place, but the limited dining space was cute. Oh and the Thai iced tea is just $2.50. Great value, excellent food. read more

The flavors of this Thai restaurant are a bit different than what I'm used to. The Pad Thai was more on the sweet than sour side. It wasn't served with peanuts like I'm used to either. The Pad Se Iw didn't have a strong soy sauce flavor, but I liked it better than the Pad Thai here. The prices are great for the portions. I think the guy working mentioned their recipes are from a different region of Thailand than the average Tahoe restaurant, so others may enjoy the different flavors more than I did. read more

A lot of interesting and varied items on the menu and I was pumped to find a dish with both glass noodles and vegetables in it! My only complaint is that the flavor/spice feels a little empty. The sensation/kick is there but the richness behind it is lacking. The condiments included in my to go order did add some flavor though! read more

We had not been here for along time. So my hubby and I decided to give it a try. The lady taking our order so very nice, friendly and professional. The food was not to our liking. We like the wide noodles and this came with the glass noodles instead, which was ok. The dish itself was dry not much flavor and very salty. The egg rolls were excellent very crispy and fresh. I'm not solid with the 3 stars, it might get bumped up to 4 if they actually add some Thai basil to the pad ka-pao. Other interesting additions were the introduction of broccoli, baby corn, bamboo shoots, and green peppers and onions. No other Thai restaurant has ever added those elements to Pad Kaprow...but really it's pad ka-pow, so just a minor difference in the spelling. The staff is friendly, the portions were more than abundant, and when I asked for "thai spicy" level of heat, well that's exactly what I got. The interior is small with only about half a dozen tables and the decor is pleasant; pics of the Thai royal family everywhere. A prominent picture menu is displayed at the counter, but my food looked nothing like the image on the picture menu, yet was quite tasty nonetheless. I absolutely love eating here. I used to go a lot when I was in college in town. I always eat the Pad Thai, usually with veggies. My most recent time I went I had pork and it was soo good. I was there for the first time in 6 years. And love that it's still just as delicious! It's family owned and the woman who took my order has been there since the beginning. This is probably my favorite Thia food in Durango. Is it crazy spicey? No, but everything has a good flavor you can't get anywhere else. Though if you ask them, they will make it extra spicey just for you. So Pad Thia is not my favorite dish, too much peanut flavor not enough vegetables. But if you like pad thia I hear it is good here. I prefer Pad Se-iw. It has the same noodle base, but includes an assortment of veggies and a different sauce, it is hearty and filling. I also love thier soups on a cold day or if I am feeling under the weather. The Tom Kha Gai, is a coconut milk based soup with a lemon grass flavor, creating a creamy and slightly spicey soup. If a creamy soup isn't for you, I also like the Guay Tiaw. It's a brothy soup that has a bit more of a kick, I love this soup and it's something different yet familiar. The soups here definitely fall into the comfort food category for me, even though I didn't grow up with Thia food. So for me this is a "to go" place. I call my order in, yes thier menu is online, then I go get it. My order is usually ready when I get there and this is super convenient. Also I do this because the inside is small, and the chairs are tall, something I personally can't stand. But I love this place all the same. read more

Masaman curry looked like gulag fare. An over loaded paper plate of grey rice, potatoes, and way too many onions. Not a hint of heat. Ordered with veggies instead of meat and I think all they did was throw in more onions. Hate to sound so negative but it's an accurate account. One star for being warm food on a very cold day. Not bad for Thai food in Durango. The best things on the menu are the Spring rolls (not fried) and the coconut chicken soup. I LOVE spring rolls and the soup they do is really great with the chicken, cabbage and mushrooms in a coconut broth. Can be a bit salty though! The rice/noodle dishes are okay but can sometimes lack in flavor. I usually get medium spice when they ask me because once I got spicy and I couldn't finish eating my food it was that HOT! So beware!! Not much seating inside so better for take out. The lady working is very nice and the food comes out quick. read more

My complaint isn't about the food, but the facilities. This is a dine-in restaurant, but they don't have a restroom available for customer use. Not only can you not use the restroom, but you can't even wash your hands! I'd be shocked if this isn't a major health code violation. read more

All was well until I found a long hair in my food tangled up with a noodle. I decided to assume "oh well, it probably was just one of those things that wouldn't normally happen." I love Thai food. I have a weakness for it, and E can attest to this. Every once in a while, when we haven't had Thai in a while, I obviously put of vibes. We'll be driving in the car, talking about something completely different, and he'll look at me and say "You want Thai food, don't you?" Why yes, yes I do. I always do. Massaman curry and pad thai are my comfort foods. And luckily, there is some pretty darn good curry in my new town, at Sizzling Siam. Tucked into a tiny hole-in-the-wall on the south end of town (so tiny it's address is 519 1/2 Main!) is this heavenly-scented gem. It has three small round tables that can fit two people each and a counter that spans the length of a wall...and that's about it for seating. Because it was busy on a Friday night, and because it was ten minutes until closing time and the girl working the front was frazzled, we took ours to go. Not that I wanted to - the place was cozy and warm on a cold night and next time I'll probably stay. The menu is a bit limited, and the entrees a bit pricier than some Thai I have eaten in Denver, but it's good quality. The cook spoke little English, and mostly Thai, which always gets a gold star from me. I of course got the massaman curry, to make sure I hade a quality curry provider in Durango (turns out I do :) and E got the Pad Piaw Whan, sweet and sour sauce with pineapple, baby carrots, carrots, onion, green peppers, and chicken. Totally delicious, and also healthy from all those vegetables! My only regret was the lack of peanuts in my curry, one of the main components of massaman. I got peanuts, but they were little bits, not whole peanuts :( Overall, I liked it. I'll be back, especially since i think it's the only Thai place in this lovely town. read more

Don't let the previous reviews scare you from coming here. Seriously, the food is good. I highly recommend their Kang Phed which is Red Curry, Sweet Basil with veggies. First: Don't try the Pad Thai. It's terrible. And the Thai iced tea. WAY too sweet. Basically, every commonly ordered Americanized Thai thing you know? Don't order it here. But everything else is AWESOME! Go takeout; it's uncomfortable to sit there just waiting for food, eating in can't be much better. The tom yum is yummy and their veg options are outstanding. Note: I have never been to Thailand. I don't know truly authentic Thai food. This place is a real bad representation of Thai food. The biggest of which is the food is completely tasteless. My chicken noodle dish was totally overcooked and dry. The red curry was flavorless and again the chicken overcooked perhaps even microwaved? Generic broccoli and carrots seem to be in every dish. The only reason I give it 2 stars is because the veggies were fresh. Thai food is soooo much better than this place. What a big disappointment siam was. I was inspired to make my first Yelp review because this place was really that bad. I have had Thai that was so so and just okay, but this was flat out aweful. We got a pretty good representation of their food as we ordered 5 dishes: -Beef with Oyster Sauce, Sweet & Sour Pork...both were bland and the meat was so tough and dry it was hard to chew. -Pad Thai, Pad Se Ew....I honestly couldn't tell you which one was which because they were both so bland. Each tasted like noodles with some coconut milk and vegtables. -Red Curry....rice with conconut milk. Where is the flavor????? I scratch my head reading the good reviews for this place. Maybe they had a different cook. If so, it would be in the best interest of this restaurant to get rid of the cook that was working 7/23/12. The noodle dishes are bland and boring. Do not recommend. It seemed like vegetables were fresh, but there are far better options out there.
