It makes me wonder, at what point did we lose our way in designing clothes that are truly appropriate for our kids? We once had brands like Justice and The Limited that understood how to dress children without making them look like miniature adults. We must ask ourselves why this is happening now.

We went back to Frankie's On the Park to look for a service dress for my daughter's upcoming bat…read moremitzvah. This time I made an appt with the infamous Suzie who was kind enough to meet us on a Sunday morning before the store was even open. Suzie has quite the reputation (a good one!) among the bat mitzvah girls and I can see why. She had an eye for what would look good on my daughter and nailed it within 5 minutes. Done! We then made our way downstairs to do some shopping while we had the store to our own. She found a dress to wear to other mitzvahs that she liked so much we got it in a few colors and did some fall shopping as well (aka sweatpants and cute long sleeve tees). We spent more than I was planning to, but the smile on her face was priceless. My daughter wears a junior size and I do find the dress selection a bit limited for juniors (she had 2 racks to choose from), but they certainly have more than anywhere else I've seen and easier to try on person than ordering a bunch online. I think she's good on dresses for the rest of 2023, but when we are ready for more I"ll definitely be calling Suzie to make sure she'll be there to help!

I felt not welcome there, it was not a good experience, I do not know if it was because of my ethnicity or what. I told my husband that I had this feeling and he agreed with me as he was there too. The young lady who attended me when I brought the pack up two weeks ago was so nice and I could feel she was interested on me as a client. I really liked this place that I wanted to purchase something else for my new niece and son but I decided to left the place as soon as possible. So sad honestly!

They pointed out a couple areas where they have "girl" baby clothes (I mean, clothing doesn't have a gender but we exist in the world where people like to do that). Most of their clothes are for children older than mine but they did have a few things. It's definitely expensive, though, so I don't know that I'd buy a lot here. I did buy some very cute barrettes for my baby (I've found it hard to find some that don't have pieces attached to them, and I don't want pieces that might pull off) and I'll probably purchase more at some point. I also will check out their holiday stuff and may look at the coats they have as well, as the weather cools down. I'll certainly keep an eye on their Instagram, too.

They have clothing, accessories, adult jewelry (possibly kids jewelry too, but I wasn't looking at it much), hair notions, and so on. One thing I really needed is a pacifier clip since my daughter has taken to pulling hers out and it ends up in a place in her carseat that is hard for me to reach! They happened to have these which made it a successful shopping trip right there. But whilst we were wandering, Vanessa complimented my sweetie pie and we got to talking. I was in the store for 35 minutes or so and probably half of that was chatting with her. I got a couple of the pacifier clips, and a freaking ADORABLE winter hat that I'm pretty sure is handmade and will probably fly off the shelf. I also bought a book featuring Chicago landmarks which I learned as I checked out Vanessa actually wrote. She autographed it for my baby which I love! Parking is street only and probably can get tough some days, but it's worth the visit. The store is full of really high quality items. They have quite a few Chicago-themed items as well, such as the aforementioned hat, onesies, t-shirts, and so on. It was so nice to talk with Vanessa and get to know her a bit. This is a small shop with big heart and should be on your list of fave baby shops in Chicago.
