So I took my RV motorhome, for a Service B Oil Change. I was quoted $180 and when I called back, a woman told me that it would be $300 because it's a diesel and it's a Mercedes. For some reason they could not remove the code after they did the oil change. And when I drove it home, I saw that they had overfilled the oil. The Service fee includes an inspection. They told me that I needed new front tires. So I got a quote from them and from another company. Monkeys said they could not do it the next morning. It would have to be in the evening. The other company said that they could do it right away in the morning. So I took it to Ripon to have my tires replaced. I asked them to also check the rear tires. Only the front tires needed replacing and upon checking the rear tires, he found an eroded battery cable. The RV would've blown up if I had driven it anymore and it would've caused a fire. Monkeys completely neglected to inspect the vehicle. I would not recommend this company to anyone, be very careful because they are doing a very shoddy job. The Ripon company also is only charging $200 for the service B. So not only did I get ripped off. They did a terrible job. They could not remove the code. They overfilled the oil. They did not do a thorough inspection. This company needs to be shut down. I never dealt with the previous owners, but I feel that they probably did a great job but the new owner is Jay and he's never there. And they do not share the owners information so if we have a complaint, we cannot talk to the owner. This one woman is working there. It's like a one woman show. She doesn't know what she's doing. She's just a receptionist, but she acts like she owns the place. If I was the owner, I would fire her in a second. read more

I've dealt with Monkey's for years, having had them service and repair the two Class A RVs I've owned. I've had over a dozen lube, oil, filter services. The repairs included a damaged exhaust system from road debris, a leaky transmission seal, an air conditioner compressor replacement, battery replacement, and a leaky rear end seal. I have yet to be unhappy with their service. Monkeys is very well equipped to service and repair RVs with their huge service area and their RV lift which is big enough for even the large Class A coaches. They limit their business to gas engines and do not service diesels. They repair chassis issues, but do not repair house related issues such as leveling jacks or other rv house components. They are an authorized smog station and I've had several smog certifications done by them. I have seen government agency vehicles at Monkeys, and I presume that such customers speak well of the shop and its abilities. I have no idea how those one star ratings can be justified. The three one star reviewers have a total of seven review among them, and that often means sour grapes. Some folks can't accept bad news about their car repair and because of their frustration, simply want to shoot the messenger. The one star review that advertises another repair shop is highly suspect on its face. Such reviews ought not be allowed. The experience I had at monkeys was excellent. The people I spoke to were informed and direct. They had no tone of judgement or bias in their voice when discussing the problem and solutions, and gave me all the tools to make a decision I was confident in. They performed a large amount of work in a even shorter time than expected, came in under their quote, and stayed an hour past their closing time on a Friday so I could pick up my car. Thank you Monkeys! I went to monkeys after running out of oil on the highway and destroying my engine. I had to drop my car and keys off at their drop box because it was 1 am and get a ride back with a friend. AAA recommended these guys and I can see why. They called my first thing at 8:30 on Monday morning and promptly confirmed and clarified what I had scrawled on a note and left with my car. Later that day they called me again to give me the diagnoses, which was not good. I had to replace the engine. They suggested a new engine and gave me a quote, but when I asked about cheaper options they offered to do some research to see if they could find a used engine that would work. As luck would have it, they managed to find one. I was eager to with my decision and they had the calm mind to give it a nights rest before going ahead. I ended up changing my mind and am glad I did! they gave me a call the next morning and I let them know my decision. They went over their quote dollar for dollar with me and I gave them the go ahead. Within a week they had express ordered the parts they needed and performed major repairs on my car, getting it back to me in time for the holidays. I had mentioned that I would appreciate if that were possible but was not hoping for a lot given the scale of work, the fact that parts had to be ordered and that the holidays were less than a week away. They delivered and even waited an hour after their closing time for me and my girlfriend to slog through the 680 traffic on a friday afternoon, that really impressed me. read more

Needed a service on my 1998 Class C RV, an instrument panel bulb replacement, a fix for my cab heater and the folks at Monkey's were recommended by a friend. I live in the Bay Area but have had bad experiences with flaky mechanics and bad quality work so we made the drive out to get the work done. Took my wife's grandmother's Dodge Stratus there about a month ago to get looked at for the air conditioning. She had it taken there in the past to get the air conditioner and heater fixed. Unfortunately, it broke, but after taking it back to Monkeys they fixed it for free since they had worked on it previously. Additionally, they gave me a ride to-from my sister-in-law's house where we had been staying in Manteca That is why my family are loyal to Monkey's. I was actually heading for another smog tech when I passed their sign. I kept driving thinking that I would stick to my plan - but the other place was packed. So I went back to Monkey's. They did need to schedule a time to work on my car - but I don't live far away so it was no big deal. They were prompt and friendly - so much so that I thought why don't I get all my work done here. But, they are not open on the weekends and it is very rare that I have time off during the week. While I was there another customer pulled up and was going to get a pre-smog done on their mobile home. The Tech came out and let them know that they would be wasting their time - he could tell by how fast it was idling that it would not pass and he would be wasting his money and should have someone fix that first. Took my car in last year for a rattle. They charged me to diagnose my car and the original price was about $100 for a idler pulley, they then told me that that the pulley wasn't the problem and that it was my water pump which comes in a kit and it would be $350 more. I still had to pay for the part and did not get a discount for their mistake. Now EXACTLY a year later my car is overheating and they could not get my car in because they were to busy. so I took it to another shop I trust and was told that my WATER PUMP was leaking!!! It needs to be replaced. When I told monkeys this they told me that they would warranty the water pump but I needed to pay for labor! (Still having my receipt I knew the labor would be about $350). We all know labor is more then the part itself. I will not be returning! I am a single mother and full time student so money does not come easy to me. I feel I was taken advantage of and I would have given them half a star but Yelp does not allow me, so they got lucky. read more

We stopped at a roadside strawberry stand to buy some produce (on our way home from Yosemite). When we started the engine on our Class A motorhome, the coach wouldn't move. The Auto Park Brake system had locked up the parking brake. Given that it was Sunday, not many places were open. We were only a mile from Manteca RV...a giant RV sales dealer. I asked them if they could take a look at the problem, and they said "We only work on coaches, not drive trains, brakes or transmissions." I asked if they recommended anyone who could work on our rig, and they said "Monkey's". We ended up staying on the side of the road overnight and called Monkey's when they opened on Monday. After getting towed into the shop, we talked to the owner and head mechanic David. We got an estimate and proceeded to wait. David is a man of few words, but he knows his stuff. After getting two parts deliveries and working on it a few hours, we were back on the road. His price was reasonable for the amount of work he did and we were very happy with the service. Over the last 10yrs I've used Monkeys for my major automotive needs. A year and a half ago I took my Toyota Corolla in for a new water pump and had them change the serpentine belt to, it was off and had 120K on it. The water pump is fine but the belt has squeaked on and off since it was put on. I've taken it back,I say twice,they say once..they adjusted it and it worked for maybe a weak...then it started squeaking again then it would stop...then start,then stop...now it squeaks all the time. I was having them service my RV when i asked if they check my belt cuz it's still squeaking and really bad now...well they said they would for 45$...It's been a year and a half and we have to charge you..well I declined. Its a problem I didn't have when i went in to get the water pump changed. Monkey's has always done good work for me and they are really nice people..but they changed my serpentine belt and it hasn't been the same,in fact its been pretty embarrassing sometimes cuz its so loud..and it's intermittent...so that makes it tougher...They are right its been 1.5 years but I did go back and they didn't fix it...you get busy with life and you can't be running back and forth to get a belt adjusted. they have lost all my future business and my sons as well and they know I have an RV that they serviced...all for 45$...I'm a small business owner to and I would never lose future business for any amount of $$.Having said all this they are very nice people...But I didn't cause this belt to squeak,they created the problem and never fixed it. We have always taken all our cars, trucks and RV to Monkey's and have always been treated professionally, courteously and in a timely manner. My son was having issues with his truck and they were very diligent in searching for the problem and then fixing it. They don't repair what doesn't need fixing and do not try to take advantage of a woman coming in to their shop, not knowing much about cars or RV's.
