I Love this place! It is the cleanest water park I have ever been to. The lounge chairs are very nice and very comfortable. Life jackets are provided. There is a gated water area for toddlers. Having this area blocked off is a great idea. There is a snack bar on the property but I saw others with small coolers. Admission is $8 for adults and $5 for children. You can stay all day. I am not sure about passes out. The lazy river and water slides were alot of fun. It's a great place for parents to interact with their children. Can't wait to go again! read more

Great gym! I love the Fitlinxx program, I feel like I have a personal trainer with me on every machine! Everything is very clean, machines are newer, and I like the size. Not to mention the fitness classes-- these are awesome. Amber's Total Body Conditioning on Wednesdays kicks my butt and I'm sore for days. If I ever move downtown I can see myself still coming up to work out at the Monon Center. I'm proud to be a member! read more

I love the Monon Community Center! If you live in Carmel it is a true bargain. Outside of Carmel, you can still join or pay a one time user fee, but the fees are more since the center was built using tax dollars. I love the fitness center and find the staff professional and courteous. IIt is also very clean. The outdoor aquatic center can be a bit over crowded on very hot days and weekends (and don't go in mid-afternoon on Tues and Thurs because of the camp kids!). Otherwise, it is a really nice place to hang out, especially if you have children under the age of 14. Other than the lifeguards, I don't see too many older teens there. The indoor aquatic center is a nice break from a dull winter. Oh I should add, if you are a true lap swimmer, use the indoor facility. Rules on how to lap swim are posted and the serious lap swimmers inside adhere to the etiquette. Outside the rules aren't posted. If you don't want stray swimmers swimming through your lane, and swimmers who want to swim "laps" but have no idea how to circle swim, or to actually keep moving, then the outdoor lap lanes are not for you. read more

The Monon Center has a walking track, basketball courts, indoor lap pool, workout equipment, and a outdoor water park. We've been members for 4 years and I enjoy going. I like the treadmills, bikes, and stair steppers. I also use the weights. There is usually equipment free even during busier periods. They even now have ones that as they are used power the lights at the gym! I like that my exercise keeps the lights on and burns calories. A few summers ago I started doing the outdoor aqua classes, deep water, walking track, and Zumba. I really enjoy the aqua program and love working out in the water. I hope they keep Saturday classes next summer. But for now I try to get to a class on the 2 weeknights they also offer them, it's not the same as being outside, but the indoor pool is rather large and classes can be help while other people swim laps. I also really enjoy the Monon Mixers that they have during the summer for adults only. read more

Good facility but horrible communication. I joined to do laps indoors and they were initially good about communication and then closed for maintenance and since reopening have been awful. 1) they discontinued reserved lanes with no notice whatsoever and the message on the lap reservation site still says "pool is reopening Aug 22. 2) I sent a message on the contact us site to find out when reservations would reopen - no reply at all. 3) I called and asked why reservations still off and asked specifically if the indoor pool was open was told the pool is open but they just stopped doing reservations (maybe update the lap swim reservation site??) and 4) showed up today luckily while it was raining and there is a sign saying the pool is actually only opennif its raining. The outdoor pool lap hours are not friendly hours for people who work 8-5 and I'm not keen on swimming laps while kids are splashing and yelling 3 feet away anyway. I feel like ALL of this could have been communicated better. For one thing, I would have turned off my membership for August since I am only a member for the jndoor lap pool. Wasted an entire month of fees because I was given wrong information twice and the pool won't reopen until mid September. read more

I love it here! It's so much fun for everyone and they are usually pretty clean except for the family stalls which I can imagine are hard to keep clean since a lot of people come through each day! The only reason I took one star off was because there are a few lifeguards here that are pretty rude. I say that because one lifeguard rolls his eyes and you notice his physical aggression when the kids do things that are against the rules. Other than that, love it here. read more

My review is pertaining to the water park only. We came as a family of four and our collective decision - we probably will not be coming back. Super super crowded. Definitely not enough lounge chairs and practically every grassy spot occupied. No changing facilities, just a basic bathroom for 3 with a long line of people to use it. There are lockers but you have to bring your own lock or buy one for $7. Lazy river was nice but people were on top of each other! read more

Yes, Monon Center very nice. You can drop in and use the entire facility for just ten dollars. The pool is not very crowded. The weight room is so-so. The indoor jogging area is great during the winter. And the park surrounding the facility is very nice. read more

A super fun water park with a variety of thrills and chills for all ages. Beautiful landscaping and feels like a mini-vaca. Reasonably priced concessions. Open later in the season than Indy Parks pools that seem to close earlier each year. Price drops to $4.00 after 4 pm. Community Center has made a real commitment to adaptive programming through full time staff and programs for kids (and adults) with disabilities. My ASD daughter took swimming lessons there for years and we went to a lot of adaptive programs when she was younger. Lots of one-on-one attention for participants; really caring staff. I really appreciate them being there when we needed them. read more

This is a review of the indoor pool only. I used to come here often with my kids and pay for the kids; however, if I was not swimming there was no charge for me. This time, however, they charged me to go into the center, which, ok I can accept that, but was certainly a change from previously. It is true that we hadn't been to the center in a while, so I asked about the change and they were rude because I didn't know about it before. Ok, so I'm not a member of the center, but I was willing to buy a day pass and use it. It was almost as if they were irritated that I didn't know all the ins and outs of the center before arriving, but how would I if I am a guest? Wouldn't you be more polite to a guest and explain things nicely rather than being rude about it? They also have no food vending, when they used to have a snack bar at the pool. Again, something I would plan for at another visit, but when I asked about food vending, I got another rude response from the workers, who obviously were annoyed I hadn't been here since the change in the center. We waited probably 20-30 minutes to buy our day pass while one worker was sitting there doing nothing (there were only 2 people ahead of us). The one worker was quite rude and condescending to us about filling out the waiver and even at one point said to another customer (who was NOT being rude), "trust me, I know what I'm doing, I'm the most experienced person here." Really? I just got back from a trip to Chicago and EVERY person I encountered was so polite and helpful. This was a jarring change for me with the level of poor service and rudeness I experienced at the MCC. And is certainly not the type of politeness I am used to experiencing in Indiana, where people are usually kind. Maybe they do not want to welcome guests - well, then make that a policy rather than just being so rude that they do not feel welcome. I did feel like I was being treated like a second class citizen. On the plus side, the kids did have a good time at the pool and on the water slides, which were open (often times they are not open even when they are supposed to be open according to the schedule). I'm going to look for a different indoor pool option as paying $27 for two kids to go swimming for a few hours is a bit steep (when including the price of the adult in there). I would be able to accept that if the people working there were polite about it or seemed like they wanted people to use the center, but I certainly felt like I was being treated rudely because I am not a member. Sad because we used to love coming here. The value of a "please" and a "thank you" has certainly been forgotten at the MCC. read more

Hidden gem of Carmel! This water park is amazing. Whether you want to get on water slides, surf the waves, or float on the lazy river, this is the perfect spot. I thought it would be awkward visiting a park like this as an adult with no children but it wasn't. Their prices are extremely reasonable and are lowered midafternoon. read more

Been coming to the Monon for several years. Recently things have been weird. Not the first time and probably not the last time, NO HOT WATER IN THE SHOWERS. It's very frustrating when you go for a swim and you expect to leave with clean hair and you only get freezing water, so you go home with wet hair in 20 degree weather. I've complained about how cold the pool is and still wonder is it because it cost to much to heat it? One day I went to go for a swim. Maintenance was working in the ladies locker room and politely suggested I wait 5 to 10 minutes or I could use the "family locker room". I'm not comfortable using the family locker room, not due this facility but an incident at another facility. I used the family locker room. Once in the pool, a man in a revealing swim bottoms asked if I would share the lane with him. I politely declined and gave him my lane. I declined partly because of the way he was clothed and because I was hit while swimming by a man, once again not at this facility. I gave the lane to him and got out of the pool to wait for another. He got upset and next thing there was a meeting at the pool side between him and life guards etc. Nothing was said to me. Again today I was waiting for a lane to open. It did and I approached as did a man that came to the pool after me. I asked him for the lane because I was waiting first. He asked to share the lane and I asked if he would mind sharing the lane with another man. At another gym, not in this state but in Utah, I was hit by a man and couldn't move my arm for a month without pain; sharing a lane I had my leg stroked several times by a man following me in the lane where you swim in a circle so many can share the same lane; I've had to deal with a maintenance worker coming into the family locker room and as he walked into the private bathroom, he leaned back turning his head to take a look at me in the shower (in swim suit); getting cornered by a Lesbian in the women's locker room. At a gym, not in this state but in California, I was groped by a man who swam under me in the wrong direction by grabbing my bottom; the ladies sauna was full of completely naked women. So call me whatever you want. I protect myself now in this gym and any other I may see fit to attend. read more

I would not recommend this facility due to the customer service and sign up experience I had. I've never been treated this way before and have previously been a member of the YMCA and smaller boutique gyms. The employees at the front desk were rude and were making jokes while being rude. I was shocked and unprepared to be dismissed without any attempt to be kind or helpful. read more

I think the Carmel Monon Center is a beautiful place to bring your family and they have a lot to offer. HOWEVER, if you plan to have an event there I would suggest asking for someone other then Casey. She was very unprofessional and had little to do with my sisters wedding. She even went as far as to bring my sister and the rest of the bridal party drinks that she referred to as "drama queens" right before my sister walked down the isle. It is a shame that this place has so much potential and someone like her can ruin what is suppose to be one of the most memorable moments of someones life. I would highly suggest not to use her and get your own wedding coordinator if you happen to use the Monon Center as a wedding and/or reception. read more

Wonderful! I have only been here a handful of times to attend various events as I do not currently utilize any of the offerings at the Monon Community Center aside from the outdoor trails and picnic areas. However, I was able to check out the facility yesterday as I was waiting for their Luminary Walk to start. Very clean and well organized with lots of fitness options. The pool has lanes for lap swimming as well as indoor slides and an activity pool. They offer tons of classes ranging from group fitness to dance to arts/crafts. If you prefer to walk or jog outdoors, the trails and boardwalks cover just over 160 acres with natural wetlands and a lagoon. The boardwalks are easy to walk/run/jog on and the trail paths are easy to follow and clearly marked. In the summer, the outdoor pools and water park are always crowded but offer aquatic entertainment for the little ones as well as adults. Who doesn't love a water slide or a lazy river? The only thing that keeps me from obtaining a membership is the cost. $35 for an individual is a little steep for me, especially since that does not include any of their abundance of classes ($20 membership upgrade). $10 day passes can also be purchased. I'll continue to use the trails for free. read more

I've been a member for about 6 months. The waterpark although overflowing with people is great. The gym is also always crowded always have to wait for machines. Not enough space to work out effectively everything is cramped. Then there is the issue of childcare. Also usually filled to capacity only time childcare can effectively watch your kids is around lunchtime (but they close at 1pm) or in the evenings. Also the childcare staff while seeming great with kids are rude to adults and very rigid about what seem to be an endless list of rules. I was even accused of breaking one of their childcare rules (even though it was completely untrue) and told that if I "did it again I'd lose my childcare privileges and risk losing my gym card." Ridiculous! I am looking into other better organized gyms. read more

Nice cardio equipment but the equipment in the weight lifting section is very dirty. I'm a new member at the Monon. Day 1 I went to the weight lifting equipment and noticed how dust balls (literally) were around the stations. Day 2 I went back to the same stations to see if it was any better, nope! Day 3 I spoke to a female who approached me as I loaded a smith machine. She told me the machine was broken. When I asked her if it was recent she told me it had been broken for at least 3 years now. Imagine my reaction. Luckily there was another machine that was not broken. I went about my workout and noticed several plates, Dumbbells and other equipment randomly on the floor. Although people should return equipment it's not something that is always done as we all know, but what was disturbing was there were Monon workers sitting at desk doing nothing. Around 15 minutes later I notice the lady who warned me about the broken machine start picking up the random weights on the floor. I asked her if she was an employee and she told me no but gets tired of tripping on equipment so she just picks it up. (What an angel right?) I couldn't resist asking if she noticed the filth around the machines in which she told me she has been a member since the gym opened and things are always broken because they don't clean. Surely she wasn't exaggerating because as I went to the next machine I noticed a dime on top of the bolt that held the machine down with at least half inch of dust on it. Obviously I will not be renewing my membership at this disgusting gym. I only gave it 2 stars because of the amazing lady that I spoke of and the fact that she was so helpful with proper use of the equipment. read more

Terrible! Way over capacity at 1pm on a weekday. No seats, lazy river was elbow-to-elbow, adults fighting over tubes, easy to lose kids... Not a good time. So much potential, but they've got to limit # of visitors. read more

LOVE!!! Clean, great workout facility, and the ladies at the Kidzone take great care of my little ones while I exercise!

We have a membership at the Monon. We really do enjoy our time there with our family. At the beginning of the season, the lifeguards are on top of their game! With exceptions of certain people. Believe me we sat and watched. My daughter was called out for holding her 18th month old on her chair feeding her goldfish, had to move to the grass, and I watched the lifeguard walk by a family of another race cutting a watermelon, eating fried chicken two chairs down from us and she SAID NOTHING. 2 days later on the lazy river my 2 daughters holding their babies , fought to stay on their tubes while 2 tweens kept trying to knock each other off theirs, wrestling and not one lifeguard said one thing even after I said Hey, come on! I did complain. But if there are rules then it should be for everyone. If the kids want to rough house then go to the the othe pool. I am all for fun. I raised 6 boys so I know how boys like to be boys. But not on the Lazy River. I hope other parents will speak up as well. read more
