I had completely given up on this location after about 25 years of using them. Workmanship was shoddy causing numerous return visits to make things right. 2 of their best manager had left and the replacements didn't cut it. however, the past is the past. I decided to gave them another try (due to their proximity to my home). This time they did not disappoint. Jesse Cater - the new Manager - was fantastic and I complimented him on how well I heard him dealing with other customers while I was waiting for my vehicle. Josh, the technician who did the work on my vehicle was top notch. He did a wheel alignment for me and I watched the computer screen on the alignment machine while he worked. He was not satisfied to get the alignment specifications close. I watched as he got the specification perfect! Most had not been that precise during my past visits. I've gone to that location for years. they were always reliable. then yesterday went to just get an inspection. they presented me with a document that showed detailed pictures of these crazy worn out brake pads.. the second I asked them to show me.. it was clear that it was all made up. the guy at the desk told me my rear brake was the issue. then when we went to the truck it was my front brake that was the problem not the rear! the pictures on their little report had pictures of the contact side of my brake pads, but the pads and calipers were still assembled on the wheels. so, what they took the caliper off and took pictures and put it all back together? total BS Brought my truck to a Dealer the next day and not only did they pass me, but they confirmed there were no issues whatsoever with either my front or rear brakes. read more

Recently brought my car in for an inspection. Should have been a slam dunk since I had a general maintenance done at Subaru dealership in August and everything was fine. Went to get a recently bought used car inspected. I was told it would need 3k in repairs until it would pass. They even gave it an oil change before inspecting and charged me for it. I brought it for a second opinion at a local mechanic and he said it was fine, just needed to be driven a few days to allow it to pass emissions. He could not believe what we were told by Monroe. Even asked if he could make a copy of the estimate they gave us so he could show it to people. Anyway, do not go to this establishment. They will try and take advantage. read more

NEVER BRING YOUR CAR HERE! I've wasted almost 3k here to get my 2016 Jeep "fixed". I ended up bringing my car to an actual mechanic and he had to redo all the work Monro has "done". I first brought my car here about a month ago due to having a severe noise and my steering wheel shaking, which Monro said was due to my brakes, which they said they fixed. I also got an oil change at this point in time. I brought my car back for an inspection and Monro had said my car would pass but suggested having some other work done. I decided to have the work done. I ended up traveling to Maryland for a vacation with some friends and noticed another noise coming from the back of my vehicle and my oil change light on. I called Monro about the oil change and the manager said that they probably just forgot to reset the light. At this point I was so fed up with them that I decided to take my car to a mechanic recommended by a family friend, for the noise. The real mechanic put the car up on the lift to fix the noise and noticed that Monro did not actually change my oil AND the brakes they "fixed" were put on wrong and missing pieces. Moral of the story; do not take your car to Monro. They are con artists who do not know how to properly fix a vehicle. read more

And I mean: I paid a lot more for services that I didn't ask for, but was convinced they were absolutely necessary! I'm not a car guy, so what do I know? Can't help the smell if something funky, though. As mentioned by others, It doesn't really matter what you put down in your online request. Waiting time can be very long, no matter what they tell you. And they don't seem to read the comments section either. Them: you didn't ask for this! Me: erm, yes I did: I put it down in the comments section. Zero complaints about the technical services, though. They seem to know what they're doing. It was great first couple of times I been to this shop (Monro in Guilderland, NY), after that they became very greedy. One of the person in the shop named Desean, quoted me on the phone after they diagnosed my car for $1080 for replacing rotors/pads and wheel bearing. The next day I picked up the car, another guy charged me higher (more than $1200) and when I talked to Desean, he denied quoting me that amount. Two days after that incident, I returned my car because even after they replaced the front brakes, there is noise when I'm braking. This time they charge me for replacing rear caliper, which was not noisy when I brought the car the first time. Very dishonest and unprofessional, beware. They helped me out with 2 tires when I needed. so thought I would try them for an oil change and inspection. Mistake. The check engine light was on, but did they check that out first? No. Did the oil change. Looked like that happened in under 25 minutes. Then the wait began...it took over an hour for them to figure out why the light was on. Then, as a team member is pricing out the part, another customer walks in. She leaves my estimate, takes care of them, then LEAVES to go get a tire at the warehouse! The other team member, who seems new, stumbles around and finally tells me they can fix it today, but it will be a couple hours or so. I advise them I can't do that, and he cashes me out and tells me that my car will be backed out of the bay. I stand outside for about 10 minutes, and finally ask the guys in the garage if someone can back my car out. A mechanic tells me that he still has to put the inspection thru the computer. I did express my frustration with how long this was taking. Finally he backs the car out. I thank him, for which I got a dirty look as he snatched the carpet guard from the floor. I get in the car, to find that controls have not been returned to my original settings (the heat was maxed out, display changed, auto lights shut off, etc). Perhaps I am spoiled by places where they take an extra minute to do this, but with having my car over 90 minutes they had plenty of time... To sum it up, poor customer service, poor staff attitude, and inability to the work. As another customer who came in after I had been there a while said, "This place is a zoo!" DO NOT BRIN YOUR CAR HERE. EVEN FOR A INSPECTION. Today, my wife drive her car to Monroe to be inspected. The car was fine, no problems at all. We left the car at the shop and went back to the house to work. We received a call at 12:14PM from the manager indicating that the car past the inspection, but they were recommending that we change the shock absorbers and the struts. I said, no, we will change that later. Fifteen minutes later, we received a call from the same person telling us that the car did not past the inspection that there was an electrical problem. (That sound so fishy on me). When we get there, he indicated that there was an electrical problem, that our car was in the front, that we can take the car an go. He said that he did not know what was the problem with the car, that there was not power in the OBDII reader. At that time, the panel in the car had all the lights on, air conditioning was not working, power steering was not working, radio was not working and he was expecting that we will just go. He continues asking us if we bought the car used and when we bought it (My wife bought the car new in 2013). We call the police and did a formal incident report. The manager confirm to the police that the car arrived without any problem to the garage. Do not bring your car here. Not a reliable place to bring your car. Had an 0800 appointment for my oil change and got there no issues friendly staff checked me in. Brett, the store manager was nice making conversation and joked to myself and the other female customer they would get our cars done super fast and I was out of there in 30 mins. I usually bring my own oil and filter so I expected to pay the standard 20$ for my full synthetic oil change and when I was cashing out, Brett said he applied a coupon and my total was about $5.75! Awesome! They also let me know about other maintenance my car is needing due to my high mileage travels and didn't pressure me at all to do them. Instead I just asked for a list to take with me since I was short on time. This is where I always get my oil changed and will continue to do so. read more

I went in for a simple inspection and the car failed 2 things. So the manager said ooh your battery is very old. LOL to myself, I then said I just got the battery a few months ago so your wrong. Then he argued with me. Made me pay for a failed inspection and told me well just drive the car more maybe that will work. So I did my own research and found out when you get a new battery it resets every single drive mode and will give your car a blinking service engine light in the ON mode not driving mode, on my car. Or it may not blink so it's hard to know if your car is good to go. Why not just say that to me instead of being a rude manager arguing over nonsense. So I left and I drove 60 miles for 2 days at speeds of 55-60 then 35 city driving, then stopped back in even though I dreaded dealing with that man anyhow I passed the inspection. The manager still had an attitude issue. He shouldn't work with the public. I will say the men in the garage were nice to me. I will not go back there ever again. read more

Repeated blunders and frustrating. I am going to give a timeline of incidents and it is up to you if you still want to go there Day1- 09/05/2019 Got a problem with car in morning . Went to Monro to receive an unpleasant greeting. Was told to have 2 parts replaced. Picked up the car in afternoon as informed by them Got the same problem in evening so went back to them.I was told Technicians are busy so had to leave the car overnight with them and was promised that the car will be inspected first thing next morning Day2- Called them around 11 AM. Was told the part that was replaced the day before was defective and was being replaced right when I called them and was told to collect when possible. Collected the car at 5 pm and as I started to drive,I noticed that car was still having the same problem. Went in again and as I enquired, I was told no one had actually replaced the parts and they were having communication problem internally and so the car was released without repair. Seriously? For Day1 , I heard them charging 1.5 hrs for labor and on day -2 for same part replacements it took them 0.5 hrs. So it is a combination of negligence and over pricing on their end and I had to pay the price in dollars and time I spent at their store read more

Recently, I had to replace rear break & replaced 4 tires with Brett Scelzl. I was very happy with his service. He was very clear with what I needed and how much it costed. I could totally trust him . I needed to get an oil change before I went back to college and they stayed open late to get me in. Really thankful that they helped me out!

My exhaust pipe had rusted through so I brought it to them. They did a fantastic job fixing the exhaust and everyone was very friendly. When they called to talk about the repair, they mentioned that one of my tires was on backwards, so they were going to fix that, and that one of my brake calipers would need to be fixed eventually. Ok, great. I get there to pick up my car and my bill was over $200 more than I thought it would be because they charged me for fixing the tire, an alignment, and a new caliper. They did great work, and were all nice people, but charged me for a bunch of work that they never asked me about, or made it sound like it wouldn't be costly, so I have to add this to my list of places to never go again. read more

In my crazy world it's always JUST before I leave on an overpriced vacation that my car needs work, this time a noisy muffler that for 3 miles down Western Avenue I could SWEAR the racket I was hearing was coming from the low slung jalopy riding next to me in traffic - before he finally got ahead of me and, as I accelerated, BDDDDDDDDDDDR, BDDDDDDDDDDDDDR and realized with a DRAT - that noise was my car!!! So the next day I called Monro and made an appointment. I dropped off the car at noon and Ed drove me back to work. That was wonderful. A colleague gave me a lift to pick it up a few hours later and it was all ready ($350 for a new muffler for a 2004 Zenamobile). AND the steering wheel wasn't greasy either. The person on the telephone was courteous and very welcoming. I was told to stop by when it was convenient for me and they would take a look at my car. When I arrived, everyone was professional and helpful. They checked my car and resolved the issue quickly. I highly recommend Monro Auto if your car needs servicing. My daughter's car had a slow leak (1-2 lbs per day) in one of the tires and we decided to take Monro Muffler up on their offer on free tire plugs. My daughter scheduled an appointment and went during the day with my wife. The report was a small puncture in the sidewall, could not plug it, and we would need a new tire, which they quoted. Since we had recently (2 months ago) put new tires on the car we decided to take the car back and see if it was covered under a road side hazard plan or similar, If not we would just purchase another new tire from the original place. To our surprise they found a screw in the tread portion of the tire and after checking multiple times found no puncture in the sidewall. I have waited 4-5 days to write this review to see if the tire continued to lose air (just double checking the original place) and it is holding air just fine. We can't help but feel that Monro was trying to take advantage of the situation and sell us a tire we obviously did not need. read more

They got it right. Last month I took my car here in the morning after I got out of work. Within 3 hours and no appointment they had me out the door with 4 brand new Bridgestone tires. Later that night I start the car up and I have a TPMS light in. The next morning I stopped back in and it was the sensors that failed. They ordered the sensors and I stopped back a few days later and they replaced the 2 faulty sensors, no charge. Spending several hours in the waiting area I saw a lot of customers come and go. These guys were fast, courteous, and were always looking out for the customer. I saw several people come in for some help or to get something looked at and these guys did it for free. They are also military friendly and work with pricing or discounts. read more
