They tried to take me for a ride. In late 2018 I took my truck in for the brakes. They put it up and took off the tires for me and told me that my pads and rotors would need to be changed in a few months and that they could do it after winter, when they would all be in "desperate need of being changed". I thought they were the nicest people when they told me it wouldn't be any charge for checking them out. After the winter a friend recommended Otego tire and auto, so I took it to them first. It was a good thing I did. Turns out my rear brakes and rotors were fine, with over %50 of the pads left. Keep in mind, I told them to do everything. They called me at home to let me know there was no need to do the rear. They ended up doing my front brakes and rotors at almost half off what Monroe wanted to charge me. Last week the muffler on my son's car broke. He was able to do a temp fix so he could drive it long enough to find a shop to replace it. He was able to get 2 estimates that averaged $1,350 before the muffler fell off Thursday night. The car was basically un-drivable at that point and my son became ill on Friday so I offered to arrange for the repair. He needed to get it repaired over the weekend so he could get to work on Monday. I called a competitor of Monroe Muffler in Oneonta, NY because the competitor had .5 more stars on Yelp. The competitor told me they would call me back with the estimate. They did not call so I called them back Friday night and they told me they were too busy to give me a quote and they are closing for the weekend. The best they could do it maybe give me a quote on Monday. So here we are with nobody to look at it until next week. That is when I realized Monroe Muffler was open on the weekend and I was able to make an online appointment for 8am Saturday morning (next day). Long story short (I know it's already too late for that), the car was fixed by 11am and the total cost was under $700 or about half of what the other estimates were. This experience has really changed my mind about Monroe Muffler. Thanks to Monroe Muffler for being open on the weekends when real people have the time to deal with stuff like this and thanks to Matt and the others at Oneonta, NY for being so prompt and professional. read more

I had a low pressure tire issue and called several places on the southside of Oneonta and all were busy. I called these guys and Joseph I believe was his name and the woman at the desk were very accommodating. They took me in found a nail in the tire and fixed it! Good place I'd recommend them. I went to this location because I thought I was having serious problems with my brakes. It was the only one around and I went because I had to. I was pleasantly surprised by how fast they diagnosed my problem and got it fixed! The staff was super knowledgeable and very very friendly! Glad these guys are around. Traveling south from the Adirondacks back home to Maryland in a loaded camper with the wife and dog in a torrential downpour and all of the sudden the exhaust separated. I tied it up temporarily at a rest stop and started to call around. These guys said bring it in and they'll take a look. Although obviously busy they got me right in and allowed us to dry off in the waiting area. A half hour later we were back on the road. I left with the understanding it was a temporary fix ( due to the condition of the exhaust) but it got us home and it was nice and quiet. read more

This place is great. My windshield washer line froze on our way up to bringing our son back to school at Oneonta. Really dangerous driving the last 30 minutes. Found this place and Ryan took care of us immediately. Defrosted the line and added washer fluid for below 0 temperature ( its 2 degrees here) and got us back on the road in less than half hour. The absolute nicest car tech guys on the planet! I had heard how my 90+ year old aunt stopped by with a minor auto problem, these great guys fixed it in no time, and would not charge her. She said she'll be going there for her next oil change! So I was just in town, visiting Mom, and we drove around to see what's new, including some new construction near the campus. On the way down the hill, my car started squealing something fierce. I thought somebody was operating a power saw. All we could think to do was stop in at Munro... Mike listened to my problem, said he'd work me in, got my car up on the lift and removed a 1/4" stone from somewhere in my right front brake. Magic! When I asked what I owed, he smiled and told me to have a nice day. What a way to run a business! Makes me feel Hometown Proud! I will always remember their kindness... read more
