After 3 months of weekly treatments, I saw no results and decided to go to another Electrolysis center where I saw results after the first week of being treated. When they treated me, I was told that it looked like I had not been getting electrolysis because there was no damage to the root. So either Andreas machine is outdated or her 30 years of experience has shown her how to work the system to get returning clients believing they're getting real results. Also, her time slots are not for an allotted time because she's always starting a few minutes late from the previous client and her appointments are scheduled back to back with no time to sanitize or change out the stiff dirty towel that's probably been there for the past 30 years. She'll also move clients appointments around for her scheduled needs which she's stated "I won't be coming in if I only have 2 appointments." I had electrolysis for my eyebrows and random hairs on my face when I was in my 20's and it worked great. Well, 40 years went by and menopause inspired my face to start growing hair on my chin and upper lip. Foolishly I started tweezing the hair, even though I knew better since it damages the follicles and can even inspire nearby hairs to thicken and grow. After COVID I decided to go back to what worked, electrolysis, and found Andrea. Andrea is meticulous in her approach to cleanliness and maintaining a safe and hygienic treatment area. As a retired health care worker and following a pandemic, that is very important to me. She also carefully explained the cycles of hair growth to me which meant that it would take months of regular treatments to address all my hair issues. She also explained that other factors such as hormonal influences and even the weather (!) could cause previously blond silky hair to convert to thicker darker hair. I am saddened and mystified by some of her reviews I have read on Yelp, particularly one that claimed only 7 hairs were removed during a session and that Andrea only pretended to do electrolysis. That is ridiculous, I guarantee I felt EVERY hair that Andrea has removed from my body and there were dozens if not hundreds removed each session. Electrolysis does sting but that little pain is so worth it! Andrea is very considerate in moving from area to area so as to spread out the discomfort, never lingering in one sensitive area for too long. Andrea is easy to talk to, has years of experience, and is extremely professional. She returns phone calls promptly (leave her a message) and calls every week to confirm my appointment and has offered to change my appointment if she has a cancellation occur. Her office is easy to access and has plentiful parking, always a plus. I have been a faithful (once a week for 30 minutes a session) client for a year and am delighted to report that my facial hair is greatly diminished. I started seeing Andrea about 3 months ago through a Groupon I found. I have gnarly chin/neck hairs that I obsessively plucked for years, and it has led to what one would describe as a thinned out forest. Never had any experience with electrolysis, but decided to give it a go. I've seen Andrea almost every week now in these three months. At your first session, she will thoroughly explain the process. It's not because she's just trying to sell, it's because electrolysis takes time and she has to explain everything because of the people that think change will happen in a month. She's thorough, clean, educated in her craft, meticulous, and extremely patient. Is that not what you would want from someone removing every damn hair from your body!? If you call, leave a voicemail like a normal human being. I don't know about you, but I don't return calls to numbers that don't leave messages. If it's not important enough for you to leave a message, it's not important enough for her to call you back. She has clients all during the day. Wouldn't you feel like it's rude (and non-hygienic) if she answered the phone while she was working on you? Lastly, electrolysis takes many sessions to start working. Andrea is the most reasonable priced electrologist out there. I called and asked a couple of places their prices in Pasadena, and they charged $120+ for an hour session! If you're serious about getting the hair gone and go every week, that would be $480 a month plus tip! That's insane. Andrea's prices are much more reasonable because she understands that permanent hair removal is a commitment and a process and wants to make sure you have enough money left in your piggy bank. I've had 11 appointments so far and happy to say I am slowly starting to see the hairs thinning out. DO NOT buy this Living Social deal!!! I had electrolysis done at a different place and had phenomenal results, I thought I would save some money and time by trying Monrovia Electrolysis through Living Social (or Groupon, I can't remember) and I wish I hadn't. Firstly, the office is extremely small, it is relatively clean but Andrea doesn't take nearly as much time and effort on sanitizing between patients. Secondly, IT'S NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO SCHEDULE!! I called several times and had no answer. Eventually left a message and she got back to me but she's the only worker therefore when she's working on patients she doesn't pick up the phone. Even when she did call me back I had to make an appointment about a month in advance. Thirdly, Andrea is condescending and inconsiderate. Yes I know I look young but I'm in my mid 20's and I know what standard customer service is supposed to be. Also when she finds out you have a living social deal she seems to look down on you. When I tried to schedule a second appointment even though my living social deal had ended (but the paid value is still there) she said she would call me back when I wanted to schedule an appointment even if I would have to pay extra on top BUT SHE NEVER DID! Lastly, she doesn't even work until the full 30 minutes are done!! She is obviously just waiting out the clock and even after my treatment there wasn't a significant hair loss compared to other electrolysis places I have been to. STAY AWAY!! VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE I bought a certificate from livingsocial and I was never able to use it. I called several times to make an appt. and they were never available. Their next available appt. would be after my expiration date...but they would not honor my certificate after the experation date. They said I could use the amount that I paid for the certificate and apply it for any service at full price. Even though they were the ones that were not availalbe. Hmm. I just leave a message if no one is available and they get back to me as soon as possible and they set up an appointment as soon as there is one available. I had my first appointment with Andrea and she just repeated her same speech twice...so sounds like she says the same thing over and over. She didn't work the full 30 minutes, and when I looked in the mirror after, I couldn't tell she did anything. I have one more visit with the groupon deal I bought, I'm on the fence. Sadly I had to leave my last electrolysis because I moved and had amazing results with her....so I'm not impressed when I have to compare.
