I went in for eyebrow threading and upper lip only, but my experience made me uncomfortable. While doing my brows, the technician started threading well above my natural brow shape, in an area I did not request and that didn't have visible hair. Then when she moved to my lip, I had asked for upper lip only, but she also began working on my lower lip without asking for my consent. I believe communication and checking with the client before removing additional hair is very important, especially on the face. Removing hair from areas that weren't requested can be stressful, and now I'm worried about regrowth in spots that were never an issue before. I came in on a walk in to get my eyebrows done and immediately was seated. Joti JOTI was incredibly sweet and patient when it came to threading my eyebrows. I haven't gotten my eyebrows done in a while due to the hair growth, not growing as often so I waited a few months to let it grow out, and she was very kind and sweet with cleaning up my eyebrows and making sure that I was feeling comfortable throughout the whole process. I felt that she was a lot more smoother when it came to the thread and wasn't as aggressive because usually I take breaks, but throughout this process, I didn't have to take one single break. I really enjoyed coming here and I believe that this will be my go to eyebrow place and I highly recommend going and seeing Joti because she was so sweet and kind and patient. This threading place is located in the plaza where there is a Trader Joe, Chili's, chipotle, panda, express, Kohl's, crunch, fitness, and Marshalls. This is a great spot to go get your eye done while you're running your errands and might as well do that in all the same plaza. I left so upset. I went in for an eyebrow threading CLEAN UP and she threaded a huge chuck out of my eyebrow at the bottom. I love my natural eyebrows and they were so perfect before i went in there. Wish I could give this place zero stars, but I'm only giving one star because I have to. I don't normally go out of my way to write reviews, but I felt this time it was necessary. I went Wednesday morning (5/14/25) at around 10:30, I walked in and was sat down right away, got my eyebrows and upper lip threaded. Usually when I get threaded I wait some time to get threaded, in the event I have an actual event coming up and needed to get threaded for; in this case I decided to get threaded a week early before the wedding I'm in next Friday 5/23 specifically to avoid any redness that might happen after I get threaded, but instead this happened to me. I did notice the actual threading was a lot faster than normal and I'm not sure, but the thread she used seemed to be a lot more.....painful? Than I remember. Also I was the only one in there for about 5-7 minutes before two other people had walked in and I'm not sure If the lady felt like she needed to rush because she was the only one there? And she had just opened? But nonetheless I'm not entirely sure and this is now two days later and the scratches look worse than the day of. I'm actually pretty upset I'm looking like this a week before the wedding of my cousins' whom I'm a bridesmaid for and hope the scratches go away or minimize themselves. Also to note, not sure if she's the owner but she seemed extra frazzled because she said her systems were down and I couldn't pay card, only cash that I luckily had on me. TBH part of me wants to go back and ask for my money back because I look like I got into a fight with a cat. There was one woman that I'd always ask for, Rafa ... for the most part, she delivered but the last few times I went to her, she completely fvcked up and my eyebrows like, noticeably uneven and jacked up and there was random hairs everywhere (for full face). Didn't really want to go back and complain because she was the only one there and I kinda didn't want her to touch me again. I started going with Jyoti and she has always listened to how I exactly want my eyebrows! I have very thick brows and wait too long in between to get them done but she always does them very nicely. I've been coming here for many moons. Love their quick service! There have been times where I had my husband drop me off while he goes shopping at Trader Joe's. One time I had my 5 year old with me and he was able to sit quietly watching YouTube Kids while he waited. You check in with your phone number and select what service you want. I've only ever had eyebrow threading, but their services look quite extensive. The prices increased after the pandemic, but with the financial hit that beauty services took as well as inflation...who can blame them? I really like Rising Threading shops! My favorite one is on Rosemead but I had a decent experience here as well. Service was fast and my brows looked awesome after. Plenty of parking too. The few cons that I had though - she kept poking my eye as she was threading so that's gotta be uncomfortable. Also as she was cleaning my brows away with a tissue, she just tossed the tissue at my chest. I just don't like being used as a table. And I know it's not normal because I've got my eyebrows threaded at several other places and this never happens. Additionally this place costed a dollar more than the other Rising Threading which, to be fair Monrovia and Arcadia is generally know to have more expensive price tags. I come here all the time for my eyebrows. Usually Kelly did my eyebrows. I loved how Kelly would do them. But as of recently I've been told that Kelly was on vacation. So I've been getting them done by another employee. They do an ok job. But sometimes it seems like they just rush it to get the ext customer. Which leaves me feeling like my eyebrows do not end up looking too great just ok. After reading a few reviews I read Kelly is actually at a different location Nile threading not too far. I've patronized this business for more than four years. In that time I never got a coupon or price break until after my last visit in late March. Today I planned to go for a visit and let them know in advance I had a coupon. Long story short: they didn't want to honor the discount, despite my showing them the text. It was just one of the workers; her boss wasn't there. After some back and forth she charged me for one of two services, so in effect I got the discount. She was ringing me up and called her boss and didn't finish the transaction with me, which also annoyed me. I want start this review by saying that I have been coming here for the past year and always happy with their service however today is a different story, the young lady that did my eyebrows threaded a quarter of my in inner eyebrows off which was very upsetting. She was very aggressive when she was threading my eyebrows which I ignored because I trusted that my eyebrows were going to look good. My eyebrows take a very long time to grow back. I asked if she was new and the other lady working there apologized and said that particular young lady had been working there for about a year and a half. I let someone else give it a go from here because I was desperate but it wasn't Sam and I wasn't happy with my eyebrows after I grew them in for 2 months. I've been coming here because Sam is great and she always checks with me and gives her opinion. She is really the only reason I keep coming back. I've made the mistake of having someone else thread my eyebrows and not only did they not do it like I wanted she was also incredibly insulting. As a disclaimer I have a red birthmark on my cheek and one of the other employees felt the need to tell me "physically you look great and this side of your face is nice, but this..." and pointed to my red birthmark. She then continued to tell me she was "sorry" about my birthmark. *insert massive eye roll* After that I made a point to always wait for Sam. If it had happened anywhere else I would have taken my business elsewhere, but finding someone that threads how I like is difficult. I used to go to the one in the mall but it was expensive ($12?) while it's only $6-7 here (depending on whether or not you Check-In). Why go anywhere else when this is the best service for such a great price? I love how you sign in on the tablet when you walk in. The wait is always very short and the whole eyebrow threading process normally takes only a few minutes before you're ready to go! when i walked in on 11/21/23 during morning time, there was two people working and only two customers (me included) so there is no reason for the lady to be acting this way. the lady working the first chair "helped" me. when i tried to sign myself in and select the services i wanted she basically didn't even give me a chance, she started aggressively selecting herself and i tried to interfere with my own finger because she didn't select the correct services that i wanted (she didn't even verbally ask me). she selected eyebrow (i wanted eyebrow and lip) and also didn't allow me to select who i wanted to assist me (she chose herself). at this point i was like whatever i'm sure they're all skilled here because i've been coming here for FIVE YEARS and never had this happen to me. i sat down and got threaded VERY aggressively to the point where she cut my eyelid TWICE. i had a feeling she cut me because it hurt but i still gave the benefit of the doubt until it was confirmed once the sensitivity didn't go away and the red markings showed up a couple days later, so here i am leaving this review. anyways, after all that she still expected a tip, which i tipped her a dollar and she questioned my tipping amount when the service i received was BAD. i used to swear by this place no matter how far i had to drive and recommended it to all my friends, but after this experience never again lol. read more
