I didn't know this place was here. I came to visit the Main Street Bar & Grill from a "To Try" bookmark I made a year ago based on our friend Ken's review. But right next door was this place, Monrovia Family Restaurant which appealed to me more. Plus Ken also gave this place a good review as well. Somebody is a carpenter here because they built a unique faux balcony with little doors and windows. The "Specials" white board is located on the wall under the long faux balcony. There is a lot of seating available. I counted 12 booths plus as many tables. I ordered the two piece Catfish with fries and coleslaw at $11.99. The catfish fillets were big and didn't taste "fishy" at all. I know a lot of people don't order catfish because it is too fishy for them. But these fillets were very lightly breaded and tasted more like cod than catfish. So go for it. Their fries are very lightly battered too. The coleslaw was excellent! I got of piece of Werther's Original caramel with the check but I ordered dessert anyway. I tried a piece of Bismarck cake for the first time after they explained what it was; white cake with a little peanut butter topped with white icing and chopped peanuts. They even slightly warmed it up for me. It was delicious! I'm definitely coming back here and bringing the family with me.

Catfish done perfectly Our favorite local spot!

Wonderful dinner! Our favorite local spot! Never had a bad meal and so very fresh! Can't wait to try the fajitas! The server walked past us to the table behind us leaving my husband and I drooling! Definitely be back!!! Such an amazing experience!

When a traditional family restaurant closes, it is great when another restaurant steps in to continue providing tasty comfort food in a familiar setting. When the new owners took over this space on the corner, they did a lot of renovation but kept the feel of the restaurant before. There is free street parking and a small lot in the back of the restaurant. There is a main entrance along Main St and a side entrance for those who park in the rear. Inside, the paneled walls have been painted to take away some of the dated look, replacing it with a more rustic feel along with the tin stamped ceiling. The tables and booths run the length of this shotgun style restaurant. There are a few pinch points between them, especially if patrons are seated back from their table while chatting, so just watch your step as you make your way through. I've been twice this month, once for lunch and once for breakfast. I usually stand near the door to catch the waitress' attention before grabbing a spot though they've told me to sit wherever I choose each time. (It can get busy and I want to be noticed before grabbing a spot.) On both occasions, the food was affordable, tasty, and generously portioned. You may find something cheaper elsewhere, but if that's all your take away from here is, you are probably just cheap. The prices are really fair for the portions. On my lunch visit with my wife and son, I ordered the Turkey Club which comes sliced, stacked, and speared so that you have two long kabobs of sandwich. Multiple layers of toppings and generous servings of sliced turkey were really good. I got the fries and they were crisp and thin. My wife got the Giant Breaded Tenderloin and she really liked it too. Although there may be larger tenderloins somewhere, these are hand cut by the chef and will fill most patrons. On my second visit, I ordered the Country Benedict which comes with a split English Muffin; each half topped sausage patties and eggs (your choice of style), and covered with gravy. Crisped hash browns are served alongside on this 15" oval plate! I noted that the hash browns were already seasoned before reaching my plate, so if you are one of those folks who add salt to everything, try them first. They are really good especially with the gravy and warm egg yolk from the rest of the dish. Service has been prompt and friendly just like you would hope a small town diner would be. Good food, good prices, good servings and good service. This is a place to stop for breakfast/brunch/lunch. Review #3462

The diner is not fancy or upscale, in fact, the side walks could use some love. But the food is fabulous and service is downright friendly. The dining room is filled with about a dozen mismatched tables. The regulars were bantering and watching "The Price is Right" on the tv monitor. The place has a lot of small town character. Our server brought water quickly, took our orders and checked on us several times. The menu is divided into breakfast and lunch and dinner entrees. Breakfast is served until 11:00 a.m. Menu options include an interesting twist on traditional breakfast and lunch items. Eggs are farm fresh, oats are organic and tomatoes are heirloom. Daily specials are listed on a chalk board. Prices are reasonable. I had the Griddled Sourdough BLT which was packed with bacon, lettuce and heirloom tomato. My sandwich was beautiful and tasted great. The hand cut fries tasted delicious. My husband had Bob's Breakfast, a dinner favorite named for one of the dinner's first customers. The plate is a delicious concoction of hashbrowns, topped with two eggs, smothered in sausage gravy. My husband said "it works!" and devoured the entire plate. In a case by the cash register were the most gorgeous cookies that were huge. The cookies are made fresh daily. We took home a Blueberry Cream Cheese Cookie that was probably the best cookie that I've ever tasted. I'm not exaggerating. The cookie was chewy with caramelized edges and lots of flavor from the fresh blueberries. I'll be making regular trips to Morgantown for those dang cookies. The restrooms are a bit tight. I'm guessing a wheelchair could not get through the door. There are a couple picnic tables outside if you want to bring your dog and eat. There is plenty of parking in their private lot. I'll be returning to try the dinner menu. I have to try the Shrimp and Grits.

On my most recent visit, I sat at the bar with a few friends, and Alex and Zach absolutely made the experience. They were attentive, welcoming, and struck the perfect balance between genuine conversation and excellent hospitality. I wasn't sure what I wanted to drink, so Alex recommended the Lavender 75, and I'm so glad he did. It was light, refreshing, perfectly floral, and paired beautifully with dinner. Throughout the evening, both Alex and Zach were constantly checking in, making sure my drink was full and that we had everything we needed. Their service alone is enough to make me come back. As for the food, I order the Pot Roast Sliders every single time because I truly think they're one of the best dishes in Cicero. They're packed with flavor, incredibly tender, and the portions are generous enough that I always have leftovers to take home. This visit I customized my meal by skipping the bun and adding mashed potatoes instead, and wow...it was absolutely incredible. The Red Bridge Bistro has become one of my favorite restaurants. Between the outstanding staff, incredible cocktails, and consistently amazing food, it's a place I recommend to everyone. I can't wait for my next visit!

SERVICE: 5/5 We made a reservation, but arrived early and were still seated promptly. Kristi and the other food runners were awesome at tending to us, answering our questions, and very personable. AMBIANCE: 4/5 The space tends to the darker side with a tall divider wall separating a dining space from the decently-sized bar area that also includes booths and tables for dining. They also have a large patio space to the west of the building, where they have a trailer serving beverages and live music available. Only real negative was the the door to the patio space was right next to our booth in the northwest corner of the bar area, which allowed a brisk breeze in each time it was opened. FOOD: 4/5 The Bavarian Pretzel ($13) is large and decent. It's served on an upright pretzel holder, heavily salted, and served with a beer cheese that seemed a tad runny and a spicy maple mustard that seemed more sweet than spicy. My wife ordered Blackened Fish Tacos ($17), which come as an order of 2 with cabbage and onion and a side of chips and salsa. She said the tacos were very tasty, the chips and salsa were just OK. I ordered the Blackened Fish Sandwich ($17), which was served on a hoagie-type roll with lettuce, tomato, and onions along with a pickle and side of house-made chips. The fish sandwich had good flavor, and while I appreciated that they made their chips, their flavor was just OK and I couldn't easily access many of the crumbs that scattered through the bottom of the basket. OVERALL: 4/5 Food was good to very good. For the prices charged, the value was not as good as we would have liked. *They do appear to have a happy hour Tuesday-Friday 4:00-6:00 that offers half price on the wings and pretzel as well as some beverage specials.

I select a Buffalo chicken wrap that comes with fries. Ricardo, Chris' son, comes out and asks how spicy hot I want my chicken and I ask for mild. Wow, what great service! They tell us to grab some drinks and have a seat. The dining area is small with three or four tables that seat two. Most people come in for carry out. Chris laughs and jokes with a customer in Spanish as he cooks. I sip mango nectar. My husband's 3-piece meal has four pieces of fried chicken with a cup of cole slaw. The chicken is hot, crispy and moist, not too salty, perfect. The fried batter is thick and flavorful. This is great fried chicken. The slaw is finely chopped and creamy. My wrap with fries comes out on a beautiful white platter. The wrap is huge, and the chicken fresh, hot and moist with lots of crispy lettuce. The fries are batter fried and fresh. I walked there in less than 10 minutes and was absolutely dee-lighted!!! The buffet had great salad fixings including pickled beets (LOVE), coleslaw (LOVE), potato salad (LOVE)......all things I don't often have at home. Mashed potatoes, baked beans, Mac and cheese....oh, and I couldn't resist two fried chicken wings. A tiny square of cheesecake and about 1/4 cup of swirl ice cream (neither of which I finished) made for just-enough-food. I don't much care about 'ambiance' when I'm hungry. I was more impressed with the number of staff who kept cleaning up and replenishing each station than I would have been with dim lights and soft music! The hostess who seated me was wonderful. It was fairly busy when we went on a Saturday mid afternoon. We were seated quickly. The atmosphere and decor reminds me quite a bit of Cheddars. The place had a fairly high noise level anyway, along with the music that they were playing. Our server was very friendly and helpful in navigating the menu and answering questions. She went above and beyond being highly attentive in keeping up with all of her tables. The food was above par and very good, quality and quantity wise. We tried a few chicken entrees and they were great. The fried mushrooms were super good. I noticed somebody in the Yelp reviews compared them to Chili's. My opinion is that there is no comparison. They had everything from cookies and pies to cakes, and I especially loved that they offered so many single-serving dessert options. I ordered the two-egg breakfast and asked for my eggs to be scrambled with cheese. My plate arrived with delicious honey oat toast and what were, without a doubt, the best breakfast potatoes I've ever had. The texture was perfect! I had forgotten to ask for them crispy, but there was no need--they were lightly crisp on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside, and seasoned just right. The eggs were also cooked perfectly. I really appreciate when the cheese is folded throughout the eggs instead of just being sprinkled on top as an afterthought. It's a small detail that makes a big difference. I'm going to be honest--the table next to me ordered the biscuits and gravy, and I could see the huge chunks of sausage from my seat! It looked so good that I had to order an additional side of biscuits and gravy to go, along with a sausage patty. I can't wait to dig into it later. I'll definitely be back. My only regret is that I didn't bring anyone with me! The portions are generous, and this is the kind of place where it's fun to share a few dishes so everyone can sample something different. If you're looking for a locally owned breakfast spot with great food, generous portions, and an incredible bakery, Bread and Breakfast Cafe & Bakery is absolutely worth a visit.

We split a bowl of soup and they kindly served it in separate bowls for us, which I appreciated. The soup of the day was corn chowder and wow, I was surprised how good it was, I do love soups. I'd never tried corn chowder before, but it was creamy, flavorful, and comforting. I ordered the half salad/half sandwich combo. The smoked salmon niçoise salad had a blend of interesting flavors and the dressing paired perfectly with it. For the sandwich, I chose the BLTEA, and unfortunately this was the disappointing part of the meal. The avocado on it was clearly overripe/bad, so dark, mushy, and it gave the sandwich an unpleasant taste. I removed as much as I could, but it still affected the flavor. It was a bummer because this spot usually tastes very fresh. I've had it before and the avocado was fresh, along with the orchard salad which I loved. I would say the orchard salad is my fave. They make their dressings homemade and the dressing for the orchard salad was delicious. The service was still very friendly, and since they were slammed busy, I didn't feel like making a fuss about it. Everything else we had was enjoyable. The inside is small and quaint since it's a house turned restaurant, so it has a cozy but lively ambiance when crowded. One of the best perks here is definitely the made from scratch desserts. I love checking out the dessert case because the staff will happily explain each option and answer questions. There's something oddly satisfying about watching them slice the desserts too. I took a lemon cheesecake to go and absolutely loved it. I've also tried the blackberry wine cake which is a staple and delicious. A seasonal dessert that was really good was the pumpkin pie. You really can't go wrong with home made desserts here.

I had the barista surprise me with a drink of her choice, and it was wonderful!
