I got here around 3pm on a sunny Saturday and there were a couple groups in line in front of us. However by the time we left there was a massive line. I'd expect a little bit of a wait if you're coming on a weekend. Parking was super easy as they have a huge lot right by the building where you pay. The place was very lively and had a fun vibe. Online ticket reservation was easy, paying for just the child's ticket while adults are free (phew). Reading previous reviews, it seems they gave out their own grippy socks at one point, but I came prepared with my son having his own which was fine per the front desk. The interior is well thought out and planned for kids to go around exploring: 2 indoor climbing structures, 2 excavator pits (literally the most unique attraction that we never had ourselves growing up), a small child/ young toddler area, and pretend play police/fire station, movie theater and 3 ride-on animals. There's ample comfy seating for adults to lounge, because we all need to dissociate from our kids at times. Overall the environment was clean, nothing looked too worn down outside expectations, and all the staff were friendly. If you plan on spending 2+ hours here, the young ones will get hungry, which leaves you at the mercy of having to pay on-site inflation for snacks or a bulkier meal; at least the options are relatively "healthier" for kids, but you should lower expectations for yourself. Personally I could've made that $8 cup of mac and cheese better... all while avoiding a curdled cheese sauce. I'd like to think $25 admission for a weekday AM was sufficient to give my 4yo the space he needed, but crowds can still build up by mid-AM; I don't foresee smaller toddlers doing well if you are worried about the bigger kids possibly trampling over them. We had a huge party that wanted to bowl and so we called and reserved some lanes weeks in advance. They got us a decent price - prepaying for two games, and also had a food buffet option, which was delicious. I'm not sure what the average price for bowling is nowadays but we paid $12/person for two games and shoes, and $14/person for the buffet. The bowling machinery worked well for the most part. Although it's design is a bit outdated, everything worked perfectly and we never had to bother the staff to fix any lanes. The food was pretty good, we went for some Chinese comfort foods which you can never go wrong with. The only reason I'm not giving this a 5 star review is due to having an extremely rude encounter with one of the workers at the bar. I was requesting to order more food, and at this time I didn't realize it was an unlimited buffet, I thought we had just ordered a la carte, and so when I asked to order more, the worker continually made me feel stupid by giving me condescending questions on why I was trying to pay. If she simply explained to me that we had an unlimited buffet (which no one explained to me) and that I didn't need to pay, that would've been the end of it. But she had to patronize me and gave me a glare on top of it. Really wish this encounter didn't have to go this way. Overall, I'm happy with the service we got at Skyway Bowl from Robin, Kevin and the team. This is a solid, old school spot for bowling that gets the job done.

My good friend Sammar and I went to throw axes at Pacific Axes this past week-end. We had a blast!…read more Valentine checked us in, and he was pleasant, welcoming, and informative. He explained the rules and techniques to us, since it was our first time throwing axes. For the first few minutes, neither of us landed an axe into the wood target. I didn't expect to land an axe that soon, but Sammar did. Valentine came over to us and gave us some helpful pointers regarding our technique. We each then landed 7 axes into the target within the next 10 minutes or so, so those pointers really helped us! We threw the small axes and the larger axes. We decided against throwing the ninja stars. We were talking about how the larger axe felt more awkward at first to hold and to throw, but it ended up being both of our favorite axe to use. It landed in the target with a satisfying thwack. The smaller axe was fun too though. I used the smaller axe periodically and it was a nice break from throwing the larger axe. Neither axe is very heavy, but with many throws it was nice to throw something smaller every once in a while. Sammar found her stride, and she started landing axes left and right! We were there for an hour, and the hour flew by. As it turns out, throwing axes for an hour (or really more like 45 - 50 minutes, with breaks to take photos, chat, high five, retrieve our axes, etc) is a fairly good upper body workout. We both want to return. We shot archery several times together last year, and Sammar was joking that if there is ever a zombie apocalypse then we will be fully prepared with our axes and our bows and arrows. Ha. I wrote our names on the White Board, to keep track of the axes that we landed. I wrote our names in a pretty large font, thinking I'd have plenty of space to mark down all of the axe throws that each of us landed. I ran out of space on Sammar's side, though, and I had to squeeze her landed axe throw tallies in towards the end of our time there! How was I to know in advance that Sammar would land FORTY EIGHT axes on her first ever try at axe throwing?! If there ever is a zombie apocalypse, I have the right friends! We paused a few times to take photos, and we also paused a few times for laughs, jokes, high fives, and brief chats, so we were actually throwing axes for closer to 45 - 50 minutes in total. This means that Sammar averaged around one landed axe throw per minute! Impressive! Especially since we each needed to walk down the short lane to retrieve each thrown axe after throwing it. Sammar also hit THREE bulls eyes with the large axe! Awesome! We were both so excited that we were jumping up and down and squealing. Valentine came over to see what was going on, and he was happy for Sammar, too. I came within an inch or two of the bullseye 4 or 5 times with the large axe, but I never quite hit a bullseye myself, so I have something to shoot for next time we go! Sammar bought a Pacific Axes T-Shirt, and I would have bought a T-Shirt, too, but they didn't have my current size in stock. Valentine told me that he would ask the owner if they can get my size. I'm a bit bigger in size now than I have been for most of my life, and I noticed that Valentine was very kind about that. I did not feel shamed for my size in any of his words or his tone. He even said that there are some employees of Pacific Axes who are bigger and they don't have Pacific Axes t-shirts that fit them either. I have an idea, though... if they cannot get my size in, I might buy a smaller size and then cut it in certain areas and wear it over a regular black t-shirt! I am pretty good with altering clothing. Because I was a size Small/size 4 for all of my teenage years and for most of my adult life, and I only started struggling with my weight in my mid-30s after my abdomen was radiated for cancer treatment and I went through early menopause due to the radiation treatment (obviously completely worth it to struggle with my weight now as the result of my intestines, several of my internal organs, my ovaries, etc being radiated and losing full or partial functionality, in order to have saved my life!), this isn't a big deal for me not to be able to find a size of clothing that fits me. I can either alter a piece of clothing, or wear something else. So, it didn't really bother me that they didn't have my current size. However, I do know a few women who have been a larger size for most or all of their teenage years and adult lives, and this type of experience could have the potential to evoke a strong emotional reaction for them. (Such as, feeling very angry and/or upset, bursting into tears, things like that. Understandable reactions, since some segments of our society can sometimes be quite harsh and judgmental with women regarding their weight.) So, it might be nice if the owner of Pacific Axes could consider being more size-inclusive with the t-shirts. Anyway, we had a great time and we will return!

Pacific Axes is an absolute blast with a super friendly crew, but come ready to process information at warp speed. Our instructor delivered the safety rules at full hyper-drive--if this guy taught a college course, he'd burn through an entire semester's syllabus in three days flat. We politely asked him to slow down twice, but he stayed locked in rapid-fire mode with zero eye contact. We couldn't keep up with the auctioneer-level pitch, but his high-speed energy definitely got the adrenaline pumping! ​Axes are the heavy-hitting main event here and deserve top billing, even if my personal technique was mostly wall-dents and sad bounce-backs. But if you want to feel like a low-key action hero, skip the woodchopper vibes and go straight for the ninja arsenal. They let you throw knives and throwing stars too--and while I couldn't stick an axe to save my life, landing back-to-back bullseyes with the ninja gear made me feel like Chuck Norris's stealth shadow. ​Come for the axes, stay for the secret ninja weapon stock, and prepare for the fastest safety brief of your life!

Have you guys ever tried sim racing?…read more We recently visited Gripwerx Simulation Racing, which was our first time checking out a racing simulation center. Gripwerx is conveniently located on the second floor of Redmond Town Center, and features a setup of racing simulators for an immersive experience. I've only seen a racing rig at PAX, so it was cool to see the number of setups for Formula and GT simulation. You pay for each 15-minute segment ($20 each) with a special buy three, get one session free deal. They also have all day passes available for purchase, which is great as a weekend activity. Gripwerx takes drop-in visitors but I also recommend booking a session online to guarantee a spot. Knowing that it's a simulation, you probably wouldn't think there's a physical aspect to it, but after an hour of immersive driving, my husband said that it did take some focus. With a variety of car models and courses available in their inventory, including local tracks like Pacific Raceways, Gripwerx was a fun experience and he'll definitely be going back for more!

Our son is 11.5 months and we first came here when he was about 9/10 months. He instantly loved it. All the space to crawl around and explore. Seeing all the other kids playing too encourages him to explore. This area is all soft play structures with a PNW theme of different types of boats. It can get a little crowded and it's open to all ages so the bigger kids we watch out for but overall my son's always been safe and happy here. Every time we're in the area we stop by!

So glad we came to the mall not only for some shopping but for this awesome play area. It is very well organized with the shoe cubbies and it seemed like everyone respected the no shoes rules. Kids running amok but while we were there everyone was having fun and with the materials it seems like it would be difficult for them to get hurt. It helps that there is the little cafe right next to it for the parents. Our daughter had a blast here and it was a struggle to get her to leave.
