We had such a wonderful evening at Monster Sushi. We ordered the Wakame Salad and the Japanese Salad to start and both tasted very fresh and they were a good portion size for a starter salad. For the sushi rolls, we got the Akami Roll, the El Negrito Roll, the Rock & Roll, along with a cucumber maki roll. All of them were deliciously fresh and a beautiful presentation. However, my favorite dish that we ordered was the Yakisoba, a warm noodle dish. We got it with shrimp and it was the perfect addition to our sushi meal. Not only was the food amazing, but the ambiance and service were very cool and authentic as well. We sat right in front of the kitchen and watched the Itamae prepare our dishes. The restaurant has an intimate feel to it and is perfect for families, couples, or a group of friends. Our server was so kind and helped us with recommendations and getting to know the Barcelona area. We were the last to leave the restaurant and watched the kitchen close for the evening. I was so impressed with how clean everything was and you can tell they care about the quality of the food. Their food was mediocre according to my palate. We got some rolled sushi, fried rice and what I thought was chicken teriyaki. Fried rice and rolled sushi was just OK, chicken teriyaki came with lots of mushrooms and not so much chicken. The chicken was chopped into small cubes. There were 3 of us, they put us in 4 person table, then switched us to 2 person table and added a chair, then finally they let us get the 4-person table again with the condition we must leave before 9PM. Nothing has beat the quality of food at monster sushi, as well as the incredible ambiance, and staff of service. What a treat! Freshly made sushi - great rolls, wonderful combinations, and rapid service. My favorites were ANYTHING with the tuna; my wife loved everything with he salmon. Delicious sushi that is super fresh! Only thing missing was Sriracha which funny enough they have bottles on display but not for the table...odd. But overall really tasty. Started with the Beef Kung Pao which was served with rice. The portion was very small but flavors were delicious and spicy. Recently my wife and cousin visited Barcelona. I had a strong desire for some sushi so I got online and googled sushi restaurants in Barcelona. Monster Sushi caught my eye and I went to their website to checkout the menu. I noticed California rolls and some other entrees that sounded delicious. I made reservations for three and we went. From beginning to end the experience was amazing. We order strawberry and passion fruit mojitos. They were made with fresh fruit and the taste definitely displayed that. I ordered the California mix rolls which were extremely delicious. Upon attempting to order additional California rolls our waiter suggested a different type of sushi that he thought we would enjoy. Tuna and salmon rolls. Great suggestion! They were delicious! We topped the evening off with dessert. New York style cheesecake with a chocolate crust and carrot cake. Overall the service was great. Came here after several recommendations online, as my previous sushi experiences in BCN have been far from memorable. Friendly and attentive waitstaff sat and attended to our order throughout the meal. We came around 8pm and most of the tables were apparently reserved, but we got lucky with one open table on the patio. Especially on the weekends it is advised to visit their website and place a reservation in advance. Ordered the 6x4 Combination Plate, which was about 6 different rolls/8 pieces each and the Tiger Roll which I split with a friend and both were awesome. I couldnt tell you the name of each roll or what was on it necessarily but they were all enjoyable and definitely the most unique sushi I've ever eaten. Good balance of flavors that emphasized the taste of the fish and was not necessarily overwhelming in any of its aspects. Was approximately about 24E each and was not insanely expensive for good sushi. I was considered as to the portion sizes because I can usually eat my weight in sushi but for the quality as well as quantity I left the table comfortably full. But of course could have eaten another plate or two. read more

First of all let me state that I'm posting this review after having dinner with a big group last night. As a brief summary of my review I'd say that sushi was good and deserts were really good too, but I'm not giving more stars because I really disliked the way we were treated. When I go outside to have dinner, I enjoy of the full experience of being pampered, or at least of course I would always expect to enjoy a minimum of quality in service depending on what I'm spending. Here's when all goes wrong. This is not a cheap place but staff were like McDonald's' level at some points. It seems to me that they handle reservations and tables really wrong. So, you will find out that they always keep a long lane outside but this is all due to bad planning and management. Even if you've a reservation you can find yourself waiting outside an hour which is clearly stupid. I went with a big group. Waiters were so annoyingly rude that practically ruined the rest of the dinner. Plates were served at a random moment. I mean, some of us were eating starters while some others were not eating anything and also some others were already eating entrees. So, it's not the way to serve groups, people! Also, they kept bringing plates without taking out the ones we were done with, and this caused that at some point we were really lacking of space to eat comfortable in such small tables. But it's not over, after we were served, we were reminded a couple of times to eat quickly because they needed the tables for another groups. WTF? I've never seen that before. We spent over 300€ and yet you come to ask us to hurry up and leave? Really? After we were done eating dinner the guy noticed we were uncomfortable with him asking us to leave, so he started to pass by our table every 3mins to ask if we needed anything else, until he brought the check and we finally had to leave in a rush and one of us even had to leave half cup of beer. Let me state here, that if you think this was because we were having bad manners or anything, well, not like that, we were 10 mature adults having dinner in group. It's expensive for what it is. Service is the worst I've seen in a while. I wouldn't go back at all. Sushi like I said was god, but there are plenty of good places in Barcelona where service is as good as this one and service is 10x better. read more

Monster Sushi has wonderful everything, from the drinks to the service, to the rolls, apps and desserts! I could not imagine better sushi in Barcelona. The vibes are also so amazing and the outdoor, upstairs and downstairs seating is all comfortable. The staff is super friendly and welcoming, explaining dishes and offering suggestions. It seems to always be popular so I would suggest calling ahead or making reservations, even though it's not necessary. My friends and I have gotten in without reservations every time. They also do takeout/delivery which is equally as tasty. The sushi rolls are so fresh and the drinks are very strong and everything is prepared so beautifully!
