Whenever my wife, 3 year old and I come to Ca. Adventure, we have to go on this ride 3 or 4 times. My son looooves it. We went to Ca. Adventure last week and our 2nd time the ride broke. So after sitting in the car for 10 mins, we noticed an employee walking the track and he told us that we had to walk back. As he escorted us we got to walk past all the characters for an "up close and personal" tour of the ride, we asked the employee if our son could take a quick pic with Sully and he said "i didnt see anything" and chuckled. That was really cool of him. He could have been a jerk and said "No" but didnt. Unfortunately, my son was a little freaked out of the huge Sully character so he didnt want a picture but the gesture from the employee was cool of him. read more

i anticipated a Monsters inc ride since the 1st time i saw the movie...absolutely LOVE the movie...now the ride did not meet my grandeur expectations, but how can it? i wanted to be flying through the air on one of the doors...going in and out from the doors, traveling to all parts of the world...but that wouldn't tell the story of the movie, like the dark rides do. yet...the ride is amazing...sure, it's a dark ride which is designed to appeal primarily to children (which i am mentally sometimes)...but the technology is quite advanced, which makes this ride amazing...i just LOVE Boo...she is so friggin cute! and love looking at all the faces peeping through windows...not to mention at the end of the ride...you would swear that Roz is speaking exclusively to you...shh...i think she is real! read more

Boring. My wife and I agreed this was the lamest ride we did at CA Adventure today. Not a long line, which was nice, and the wait was in an air conditioned buidling. The animatronics were fine. Those are the good points. Now for the annoyances. First, it was just a bunch of scenes that closely mirrored the plot of the movie - nothing new or particularly interesting. Second, there was no ride action - I was longing for the taxi to jerk around a little bit, or speed up, or go up or down, something, anything. My advice: on a hot day when the other rides have long lines, it is fine. If you have other options, do those instead. read more

I have to give this ride 5 stars just because it really makes my 2 year old son soooooo happy. Monsters, Inc. became his favorite movie and the ride lets him live out key scenes in "real life." Adorable ride! I've ridden it twice so far - once when it first came out and again last weekend. This is the stereotypical kids ride where you ride in a slow moving "taxi" around various scenes. I suggest fans of all ages check out this ride at least once because the scenes are done so well! Best part about this is that the lines are rarely over 5 minutes in the fall and the ride is enclosed so it's a great way of escaping the rain on those gloomy days. read more

Located in a dead area of California Adventure is another Fantasyland-type ride that takes you on a journey though Monster's Inc. Hmm, I never noticed it smelled like sushi in the sushi restaurant part. I'll have to look for that next time. Anyway, It's a great ride for fans of the movie and kids alike. One of the only "classic" Disney rides in DCA. Everything here is super cute and creative. Perfect match with the movie. Favorite scene: the date at the sushi bar. Why? Because it actually smells like sushi in there! I also enjoy when the CDA is flying everywhere trying to catch you. Line is never that long in here which I am pretty grateful for. At the end of the ride, I'm pretty positive that Roz talks to you in the end which is cool. One of the cutest rides in DCA. read more

Fast forwarded verison of the movie! The sets and scenes were exactly like the movie. The ride rides exactly like Cars minus the quick part at the end. Kind of hidden in the Mad Hatter area. Line moves pretty quick. read more

This ride is located in the "Hollywood Back lot" within California Adventure. This ride is one of my very favorites! It's perfect for little ones as young as 2 months old (which is when my daughter first went on it). It's not too loud, scary, or at all bumpy. Perfect for small children. What a cute ride this is. :) Monsters Inc. is one of my favorite Pixar movies, I could watch it anytime, any day! So when I heard there was a ride in Cali. Adventure, you bet I dragged my boyfriend on this thing! And to my surprise after we got off, he liked it. :p Waiting in line was even fun, they have a lot of cool things associated with the movie to look at. We had a fast look at everything though, because the line was very short since we came on a Thursday. Seriously though, as soon as you walk in, you're taken into a real life Monsteropolis...It's so neat! If it's this cool to me, I can only imagine how amazing this is to the young-ins. You load onto these cute little yellow taxi looking cars, and then you just take off into the city of Monsteropolis. You see all the characters along the way, scenes right from the movie, everything! It is a little slow, since it is a "kiddy ride", but nonetheless it's still a really cool ride to hop on when you're in Cali. Adventure. :) read more

This is one of our favorite rides at Disneyland. You'll travel through Monstropolous in a car and go through the streets, a restaurant, a locker room, a factory, and other places. There is so much detail and the characters come to life much more than on the traditional storybook rides (which I love -- I'm not criticizing them). Look for a cameo by the abominable snowman (voice of John Ratzenburger), and when you're traveling through the Japanese restaurant, inhale the smell of ginger. What I really love most about this ride is that it blends physically moving characters with special effects seamlessly, so that you are not really aware of the special effects -- they simply become part of the story. This is also one of the longest storybook rides in the park. The line moves rather quickly, so don't be put off if it's kind of long. It's definitely worth the wait. And don't forget to say hi to Roz on the way out. read more

This ride takes you around Monstrapolis while there is a human kid on the loose! An extremely fun ride that takes you through various scenes from the movie Monsters Inc. The sushi scene, the bathroom scene, the room of doors scene, a scene where the CDA decontaminate you with air, and then you get to see the slug, Roz, who says personal messages to the riders in the cars. A good place to cool down. Look for the hidden mickey on the back of Sully just before the end. I never rode this ride when it was All Start Limo (or Lame-O) as it was called but I like this simple ride. It follows the basic story-line of the Monsters Inc Movie. It isn't heavy on the special effects and animatronics like other rides but they make good choices that make this enjoyable for everyone. Smell the ginger in the Sushi restaurant, check out the detail in the factory and locker room, pay close attention to some of the humor that is more PG than G. .The line isn't usually very long and the ride loads quite fast read more

I haven't even seen all of "Monsters, Inc.," but I love this ride; it's a dark ride (a ride that tells a story, like the ones in Fantasyland), and even though I'm fairly unfamiliar with the movie, the story still makes sense (unlike, say, Pinocchio's Daring Journey). The line takes you into what appears to be a Monstropolis bus station, complete with ads both on wall posters and TVs, but you step into a three-row taxi and off you go through the story, meeting Mike, Sulley, and of course Boo, as you drive through the town and witness freaked-out residents, a trashed sushi restaurant, the villain guy, and a great section of endless doors on conveyor belts. It's a lot of fun and very cute. As others have said, pay attention to Roz at the end; either she's actually alive, or there's someone controlling her. I was the only person in my taxi and she commented on me, lady in the front row, she likes my glasses. Unsure of what to do, I thanked her aloud and said I liked hers, too. And!!! She asked if I wanted to trade! I said ok, and she said ok, she'd see me in my closet tonight. Color me floored. Of course I couldn't help asking the cast member at the end how the heck that happened, and of course she smiled and wouldn't tell me (if YOU know pleeaaaase tell me). This was far better than the time Mr. Potato Head pissed me off at Midway Mania (please refer to that Yelp review). This is an easy ride to walk past accidentally, as it's behind the Mad T Party stage and over by Muppet*Vision 3D; I'd been to the park several times before I realized the ride wasn't a show (c'mon, the name makes it sound like it's a live show), and the entrance confused me. But now that I know the ride, I won't miss it on my DCA visits. read more

I am a fan of short lines and well designed rides. Really not that much to the ride but tells the story of Monsters Inc. really well. The overall design is put together nicely. As well the day I was there I was able just to walk on to the ride. I am not sure i would wait over 15 minutes to ride this ride as there isn't a lot to it. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue! is a great ride for the little ones who are big fans of Monsters INC. Of all the times I went on this ride the line wasn't long at all. Since this ride is located towards the back of California Adventure, maybe people forget about it or don't really notice it. Step into your vehicle and take a trip through the scenes of the movie. It highlights the main parts of the movie with you favorite characters showing up. Help Boo find her way home safely with Kitty and Mike. Enjoy! read more

I love going on this ride!! Usually there is not a long line/wait and the fact that I feel like I am in the movie is neat! "The ride is not scary" (in my nephew's words) and is one of the few rides with "technical difficulties". Make sure you keep your eyes peeled for the hidden Mickey's (one is on Sully). Our first time looking for the hidden Mickey's on this ride, the worker was kind enough to drop us some hints as to where to look for them and when we finished the ride she came over to asked if we were able to check them all off and we failed to miss one so she allowed us to go on a reride. The best part of this ride is at the end when the mean secretary Roz will interact/say something someone particular on the car. She always cracks me up with her comments. The last time we went one it she picked on my friend "(rough voice) heeyy young man in the front seat...I'll be in your closet tonight har har har" cracked me up!! She has some really funny comments and she keeps me coming back for more. read more

I have never seen all of Monsters, Inc., so I don't know what the heck was going on. However, I was entertained at the end of the ride. The lady with the glasses (again, I've not seen the entire movie) started making fun of my boyfriend. It's pretty cool. This was another good ride if you wanted to get off your feet. Surprisingly it was only about a 3 minute wait! I feel like everyone was either by Carsland or Paradise Pier so this entire Hollywood area was empty! I absolutely love this ride. Since it's tucked away in the back of Hollywood Land, the wait is at most 10 minutes 95% of the time. It's a slightly more modern twist on a storybook ride (a la Fantasyland) and is a fun rehash on the plot of the first Monsters Inc. movie. Really great ride - a modern twist on the classic Disneyland rides. I loved Monsters Inc., so it's hard not to love Mike & Sulley to the Rescue! In the ride, you enter the part of the story right when they discover that there's a human child in Monstropolis. So you go on the adventure of trying to hide Boo and trying to get her door so she can go home. One really cool thing about this ride is the scents - when you go into the sushi restaurant it smells like wasabi and when you go in to the bathroom it smells like a gym bathroom! This is a sub-par ride that is largely just a simple ride through various Monsters,Inc. scenes, which seems kind of pointless and certainly is of no sense whatsoever to someone who has not seen the movie. Even then, it's a bit disjointed and doesn't really make a lot of sense. Even for someone who loves the movie (I am not), this would not seem to be a great attraction. I am dubious about rides that are based so directly on movies - they can be good but not if they are so tied to a movie that one must have seen the movie to have any idea of what is happening or where the ride is essentially nothing but a straightforward journey through scenes of a movie. It's also a fairly short ride. At least the effects, scenery, etc.are good but in the end this seems to be rather uninteresting and pointless. read more

Two players can play in one shuttle, and your scores are revealed at the end of the ride. This ride also takes a picture of the "players" and posts them at the end of the ride, walk through, find your pic and email it to yourself. It's fun! read more

It's ba modern day black light ride that is like a cliff's notes version of the movie. The effects are pretty cool (scents released at different parts and the door room is pretty cool). It is an enjoyable ride for both kids and adults. The wait usually isn't too long. It is kind of tucked away in the corner of the park so I think people forget it's there. read more

The ride is cute and it's great when you get to the sushi restaurant and it smells like ginger! But overall it's a childrens ride so it's quite short. It may be a kiddie ride, but it's still fun to see recreated scenes from the movie. A fun thing to see if you have the spare time, but not a big deal to miss if you don't have kids. Sadly the corridor that you line up in is so run down. I guess too many kids scribbled or etched into the wall. The torn up patches make it seem like an alley. I doubt it was part of the design and if it was I don't get that feeling. read more
