Jungle Cruise is an outdoor boat ride at the Adventureland area of Disneyland. It's a river expedition throughout the jungles of Asia, Africa, and South America. The animals featured are animatronics but look very realistic. Each ride can fit a lot of people on the large boat but there can still be long rides. It's not a very exciting ride but what makes the ride are the skippers who make pun-filled jokes throughout its entirety. I absolutely love this ride. It's one of the funniest rides at Disneyland. What's even cooler is every time you ride it, the humor is slightly different. Like today, I heard something new today. It was a funny joke about bamboo and she kept repeating it over and over - hilarious. This is a boat ride and the exhaust may get to people if you're sensitive to things like that. The "back side of water" never gets old. The Jungle Cruise is another favorite of mine and a classic ride at Disneyland. The cast members and skippers who work this ride have a lot of fun staying in character. They really set the mood with the cringy, yet funny puns and "dad" jokes. The river adventure tour takes about 10 minutes, and it's a nice, chill ride. The animatronics and animals are always fun to see. This ride at night is another treat with the evening mood set and your senses heightened. During the holiday season, this ride gets a holiday overlay with festive decor throughout the jungle ride, aka Jingle Cruise. There are no single-rider lines, but there are Lightning Lane options. And as with most rides, the queue can get long, but it's definitely a must-ride for first-timers and jungle fans. read more

Jungle Cruise is a classic and lovely if your skipper is into their jokes and folks are playing along. They have updated the ride over the years but the feel of it hasn't really changed. One of the rides we don't always do but if the lines are short and we have down time, we do end up taking a little cruise in the jungle. So keep an eye out on the times on the Disneyland app. But it is a high capacity ride but it also takes a long time to board and off board folks. E X P E R I E N C E You get to go into the jungle...and go on a boat to take a cruise. You get to see all the animatronic animals and other sights. Every ride will be relatively different as the skipper (your tour guide) will be unique. They are trained to lead the ride with guidelines but they do have jokes that are solely theirs. Either way it's a nice covered outdoor ride where you just sit and leisurely float. It's a nice little way to get off your feet and experience a ride that's a little longer than most. O V E R A L L If you've never done the Jungle Cruise, do it! It's a classic! Otherwise, it's not a must ride for me every time. And please be kind to your skipper and play along. This was a special ride for me to see my grandsons enjoy cruising through the Jungle and experiencing what I have over 40 years ago. Although there was not as much joking around on the cruise, the children were amazed at the animals and were able to recognize all the animals and name them. The Baseline: For a theme park attraction, a quality experiences must be provided, the attraction must be fun and engaging, an immersive environment must be established, the queue line must be themed, and safety must be a top priority. Attraction: This is a classic ride in Disneyland that has been operating for 70 years (June 2025 for this review) and was open since day one. It is still fun even though I can expect the jokes, know what is coming around the next corner, and knowing that Dwayne Johnson isn't getting an animatronic like Jonny Depp got in Pirates of the Caribbean. After 70 years the jungle is lush and the animatronic animals are still going strong with their noises, splashes, inability to move from their spots in the wilds. It is still a great ride. Take a Jungle Cruise when you come to Disneyland. Queue: Wait times for Jungle Cruise can be bad at park busy days, but if it is over 30 minutes I would suggest waiting for a shorter wait time. The queue itself is fun and has a lot of picture opportunities. The theme is a 1930's jungle boat expedition with an explorer's society feel. Most of the queue will be shaded so it is nice in the summer though you may have to go up-n-down the stairs. read more

It's jungle themed where you'll be able to see: 1) Ancient Cambodian Shrine : Come face-to-face with leaping tigers, lethal cobras and snapping crocodiles. 2) Jungle Cruise Safari Camp : Cruise past a former camp overrun by explosively curious gorillas. 3) Indian Elephant Bathing Pool : Venture into this sacred pool where you'll see bathing Indian elephants. Feel free to take pictures--they have their trunks on. 4) The African Veldt: Behold angry hippos and hungry lions guarding a sleeping zebra. 5) Schweitzer Falls : Be awed as you take in a true natural wonder--the back side of water! Boat Skipper Service: With any cruise, the boat skipper should be able to navigate through the jungle with ease while being entertaining/engaging with the passengers onboard. The Skipper's that I've encountered on these cruises have been a pure delight. The jokes that they tell makes me chuckle all the time. read more

The ride was closed down after my family stood in line for 45 minutes. I used to love this ride when I went with my parents, and really talked it up to my grandkids. But no sooner had we finally boarded the Jungle Boat, than the ride was closed down. So we had to exit. My grandkids loved that. On the up side, it builds character. The waiting time for this ride is longer than I would like but I get it, they gotta unload then load boats up and sometimes it can't be timed completely due to passengers that move slower than others. Yasss...what would a visit to Disneyland be without a ride on the Jungle Cruise. Turns out the actual Jungle Cruise River is in fact a representation of several iconic rivers from around the world all wrapped up into one...who knew?! Nevertheless...it's a must experience part of Adventureland and well worth the time one will spend in queue waiting to ride the attraction. I have experienced this attraction over the years and apart from the serene ride through a lush jungle landscape, you will encounter the 8th Wonder of The World (no...I'm not telling), tigers, crocodiles, snakes elephants apes, lions, zebras, rhinos and hippos (just to name a few) and all the while..your boat's Skipper will be giving you a monologue of comically bad/good "puns". Depending on your "mood" the monologue will make you laugh, make you chuckle, make you shake your head or just decide not to listen to the amusement dribble. Since the puns/jokes are coming at the riders quickly and non-stop...my experience is that most people just take it in and don't react. Kinda makes ya feel bad for the "Skippers" who need to memorize the spiel because it's a long one, since the ride is between 7 - 8 minutes in duration. There were some slight transformations on this river trip (over the years I guess it pays to re-invent slightly to keep it interesting) but overall the attraction continues to give riders a fun and pleasurable experience. In this Yelper's opinion, on this occasion the Jungle River Cruise in Disneyland (CA) truly earns this "highly recommend" ,come bring the entire family, 5 Star review. read more

Another ride I've never been on. All I know is when we were running through the line they were saying it's magical at night time. I'll take their word for it. The commentary was pretty much everything about the ride. She kept saying silly jokes, but one precisely over and over . During the hot summer months, it is a nice break from the heat and a chance to rest my feet after walking all day. Some of the inspiration from the Jungle Cruise ride comes from one of my favorite old-time movies "The African Queen" starring Humphrey Bogart and Katharine Hepburn. Jungle Cruise is a river cruise ride through a dense rainforest in tropical Southeast Asia on a canopied steamboat. On the way you get to see hippos, elephants, lions and snakes. But the fun part of this ride is the skipper who navigates your ride and narrates it with dry humor filled with bad puns. Jungle Cruise is one of Disneyland's original rides when it opened in 1955. It has been renovated many times since then. The water is a dark blue-green color to hide the boat's underwater guidance system. The ride itself is located in the Adventureland area of the theme park next to the Indiana Jones Adventure ride and the treehouse. The Jungle Cruise film that came out in 2021 and stars Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt is based off this ride. I really liked the movie and still crossing my fingers for a sequel. read more

I'd like to suggest that if you want a funny and scary ride, go here at NIGHT. Of course if you know what to expect it's not scary but I haven't gone on for years and man was it scary! The river water is dark and mysterious. The animals appear suddenly as the boat's lights make them seem unexpected. The noises and the darkness makes the jungle so much more scary. You swerve a lot so you think you're going to crash but you don't! Our boat captain is funny and I know the jokes are used over and over but it helps make the trip more dark if they tell you the jokes in a monotone voice. Overall, at night, the line goes by faster so I think it's a great scary ride. For little ones, best to go during daylight so they can see the animals clearer and can see it longer! read more

You know what! They should add a Steve Irwin (Australian zookeeper and conservationist- also known as the crocodile hunter) animatronic as a tribute to him. That would take this ride to the next level. This ride is an absolute classic at Disneyland. Or they could just add some characters from the actual jungle Cruise movie that came out in 2021. Maybe they could add The Rock (Dwayne Johnson) or something- would be pretty cool. Just some ideas lol This ride takes you through the jungle! With crocodiles and rhinos! It is lots of fun. Last time we rode it someone threw up in line and it held up the line and made a mess but obviously was not the staffs fault lol. One of the last rides I partook in prior to leaving the park. And after the long day of walking around, it was much needed. This is located in the Adventureland section of the park and fits this area appropriately. It takes up a big portion of the park which is not surprising for what it is. This is meant to be a leisurely ride down a river. You are led by your cast member serving as your tour guide. This is quite possibly the best part about this attraction. The tone in which the monologue is delivered and the dryness of the material actually makes it funny. Basically you get to sit back and relax and take in the views. You'll see all types of "animals" throughout the area. And, um, pay attention. Don't be like me and get jump scared by the crocodile in the river. I was literally looking at something in the distance and did not see this coming up to the boat. When it "jumped" out of the water, I nearly fell off my seat. A great way to have a little downtime while in the park. Kind of like a must do if you want off your feet before leaving the park. read more

Love this ride why you ask. I love hearing the comedy of the ride operator. It's so corny. When I go on the ride I think is this what it would be like in Africa. A Disneyland classic that has withstood the test of time with plenty of dad jokes to be shared. The skipper is the best back of the experience for me as it makes the ride unique each time, though you sail the same waters. That unique piece of personality makes it interesting for sure. It's not a ride I do often as the boarding and de boarding can be difficult for both my parents and myself. It's still worth visiting on your next Disney trip! read more

The Jungle Cruise is classic Disney at it's best. The many times I have ridden this ride each time I discover something new. You get aboard a boat with a funny name and a skipper whom if you know the jokes repeat them for the benefit of the passengers who haven't ridden. A couple of the best jokes are "wave goodbye to the people on the docks; you will never see them again!" and "View the 7th wonder of the world, the backside of water!" Your skipper takes you through the jungle scenes where you see elephants bathing, a hippo that rises out of the water where your skippers shoots a gun at, a pilgramized safari camp overrun by apes, and of course my favorite, the men on the totem pole with the rhino's horn prodding the butt of the lowest man. Trader Sam's is also here from where the famous bars gets its name. It's an enjoyable and funloving voyage. Magic Kingdom comparison:- The Magic Kingdom has the upper hand here since that ride alone navigates you through the South American Inca temple full of snakes and treasures. I learned that when I asked a cast member about it after we got off. There is no temple in this ride. Still it is one of the classic original rides and will always be a fan favorite of mine. 6-25-23 Lions and tigers and bears!!! Not on this water ride but the backside of a waterfall, a rhino trying to gorge a safari clad man climbing to get out of harms way, you'll see that and more. You'll have a skipper who'll take you on your river cruise with witty or commentary that may summon a chuckle or two during your adventure. I will reiterate what I said in my past review, your cruise is only as good as your guide. Ours just rattled off the usual humor that I have heard multiple other times and did so in a very unexcited, slightly quiet monotone voice. If it were for the fact that I was looking forward to the new additions, I think I would have been kinda miffed. The Disneyland app said that the wait was going to be 35 minutes, but despite the long line that went up some stairs and back down some, it was only around 11 minutes (thanks Yelp for letting me know the check in times!). During the wait, there's a bunch of neat things you can see in the shack. Real insect samples, additions from new characters added to the ride, and some Easter eggs from the new movie apparently (the outfit that the Rock wore, etc). The new additions included taking out the tribal people and the shrunk head hunting portion of it with the shaman medicine man. Definitely a much more PC ride. They were replaced with some other explorers (an etymologist, artist, etc) and you can see their items strewn throughout the queue line and the ride. There are more animals, especially mischievous monkeys messing around (with the butterflies and the painting supplies) and you see Trader Sam's shop at the end. There's a very cute parody of taking your pictures at the end with the monkey and elephant. Nice touch! Not a bad ride, but much more worth it during the day time when everything is visible ! read more
