Unlike me, I hope you're reading these reviews BEFORE hiring Anthony to do anything. I needed a laundry room marble floor buffed out and sealed, with no sheen. Finding a flooring expert to work on marble floors is nearly impossible. I was excited when I called Montana Custom Flooring and Anthony told me he could do it and quoted me a price. I asked him to come take a look at the floor before quoting the job, but he insisted he didn't need to. Warning Sign #1. After several delays and postponements, he told me he had just the product I needed, but it would cost more, almost double the quote. Warning Sign #2. Told me that he needed to order the product and I would need to pay half as a deposit. Warning Sign #3. After about a month, he finally came and did the job. I was out of town and had my contractor supervise. As soon as he finished, he called and asked for the balance due. I told him I was anxious to see the floor when I returned in a few days. He began to threaten me about refusing to pay and said he'd file a lien. I went ahead and paid him the balance because he was so belligerent and I had hopes it was a job done as we discussed. Upon returning home and seeing the floor, the whole job SUCKS! The marble floor is now very shiny and has bubbles, streaks and completely missed spots. After a month of trading texts about fixing it, he resorts to his tactics of delays and unreturned calls. We both knew he had no intentions of returning to fix the mess. He's had to wait on UPS to deliver the product, he's been very sick, he has to move out, he's running his company by himself, he's a single dad. True or not, he has an excuse for everything. Now I have very expensive marble floors that look like cheap, crappy shiny ceramic tile. I was an idiot for not heeding the warning signs and hiring Anthony anyways. DON'T BE AN IDIOT. Claims to be bankrupt and no longer in business. I've been trying to get Anthony to repair his faulty epoxy work for over 2 years now. Just a lot of excuses and threats. Please read other negative reviews. They are extremely accurate including timelines. Similar situation which now shows a pattern. ... after I placed this review, I received the following message from Anthony ... "And now you won't ever be getting a repair or recommendation or anything from me. Like I said your a worthless excuse for a human." First of all, DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES GIVE THIS GUY A DEPOSIT BEFORE THE WORK STARTS!!!!!!! I don't care what he tells you, do not accept any excuse for needing the money upfront. He will say your project is custom and he needs to order custom materials. What he has to do is simply order regular materials to do it and he doesn't keep supplies on hand so he needs the money upfront to buy them, supposedly. This is not a company of any size. It's one guy who had to ask a friend to help him complete our job (according to him). He will take your money and then have issues and delays before he starts. It's always something. Usually it's "I've been so busy", or it's a flat tire or I have another really big job somewhere else...(more important than yours - so much other, better work) We paid him 5k to do this new job. We also gave him a $2,500 deposit to do some driveway work before we saw that the work he had done completely FAILED. SEE PHOTOS - it failed only 12 weeks after the job was finished. We were concerned about him doing it in cold weather but he said installing it in cold weather was fine as long as the deck was wrapped in plastic and we had heaters on it. That was done. The job looked fine when he was finished. Then one morning I looked outside to see the epoxy splitting and heaving upwards all over the deck. When I informed Anthony that his work was coming apart he initially said he would repair it. Then about 30 minutes later during the same text conversation his behavior became quite odd and he accused me of ruining his morning. He said I was rude - I was quite the opposite. He told me "I don't need this on a Saturday morning I'm good nope." Really? We are the ones who paid for work that came apart. He tried to say it was because of work done previously. (No work had been done - this was the original tile that he looked at and said he could fix. He said the epoxy and concrete could go right over the cracked tiles, no problem.) Then he tells me he's returning the materials for our driveway and he's done. Excuse me - what?? I asked for my $2,500 deposit back or the materials he claims he bought (along with the receipt). That was how it was left without hearing from him again until randomly 10 days later he texted me this: "Just a lot going on. I'll fix the whole thing not a worry to me as when the driveway is done that will be done. Not a worry" Excuse me what is this gibberish? I had no idea what this guy was talking about. He acted as if he hadn't gotten very weird with me and said he was done with our project in his last text to me. I'm wondering if he even remembers what he texts to people. He certainly behaves as if he has no recollection of what he has said. I told him not to worry about fixing our deck (we don't want him in our home again after the things he said to me) and just to refund the money we gave him for the driveway project. He said he'll ship us the materials he bought (sure buddy, I'll hold my breath) and then he said to never contact him again. These text conversations have been very disembodied and bizarre. I have never in my life had to deal with a tradesperson who behaved in this manner. I'd call it unhinged. I told him I'll see him in court if I didn't get my deposit back or the materials he SAYS he bought by this Monday. I gave him over a week to do the right thing. No surprise - we never heard from him again. We will be filing for a judgement in court tomorrow. People like this get away with it because clients may be afraid to pursue the remedy because they're not sure who they are dealing with after being treated this way and they may be afraid. That is a shame. We are out $7,500. We have an epoxy deck that has to be torn out and repaired and he has our deposit money for a different project. This has been a disaster. He will blame it on everyone but himself. See the responses to his other bad reviews. Check out the ones on Google too. We have not been his only victims. He also requests payment through Venmo. You can't dispute a payment with them. So if you Venmo him your money is gone. We were more than kind and patient with this guy. We gave him more business. We said we would recommend him to our neighbors (Thank God we hadn't yet!!) Then he takes our money and refuses to get back to us. By the way - his business has been up for sale on FaceBook since last May. I had a friend look into social media for me and he found that information. So maybe he just doesn't care. I have no idea. Do yourself a favor and avoid this business at all costs. I have every text that was sent to me to show the court for when the strange and tiresome same old excuses are used to justify what was done to us. I had spoken to Anothy, the owner, of Montana Custom Floors to get an estimate for finishing off my laundry room floor. Anthony was on time for the appointment and seemed to offer a good product / service. I asked to see a completed project and he set up a meeting for my wife and I to look at a project that had recently been poured. Anthony was 40 minutes late for the appointment when he texts me that " he is running late, will be there in 20 minutes ". My wife and I left prior to his arrival. He then called me when he arrived at the site and said we could come look at the project. I told him we were not Available to come look at project at that point. I also started to tell him he should text or call scheduled appointments if he was going too late. He hung up the phone on me when I told him that. Here is a text he sent me later regarding my job . "Sorry and hope you find someone to pour your floor. I'm on a job that's 14k and sorry I didn't message you to come see my work so you can hire me I don't have time for that. Have a good day " . If I could give zero stars I would. The owner started a decorative concrete flooring job on our patio and then after trying for over 3 weeks to contact him to see when he would be back to finish job he chose not to respond. We lost money and the job was never completed. We also, after contacting other companies, found out the concrete overlay he put down is NOT for exterior use. I would never recommend this company. Shabby work on what he did manage to do and then ghosting before job is done. Have done research on him since and not good information. DO NOT hire this company! read more
