Hands down one of the best steaks I've ever had, including the ones I cook at home or have had at a "fine dining" restaurant like Ruth's Chris. Service and ambiance were perfect after a long hard day of work and travel. The only blotch on an otherwise perfect meal was the crème brûlée; it was gritty, too thick, and the sugar was poorly caramelized. Skip the dessert, enjoy the meal. If you find yourself in Butte, for any reason, give this place a try. You won't be disappointed (except in the crepe brûlée). read more

We're staying at the hotel and I ordered some food to go for us to eat outside near the pool. The kids meals were fine- they had the ribs and I had the chicken wings and a wedge salad. The things that aggravated me were the fact that the kids meals were advertised as coming with a drink and a souvenir cup, (my kids were excited to get it) but the very young woman at the hostess stand who took my order first told me I was mistaken, then mumbled something about it not being on her computer so we needed to order/pay for it separately. I waited forever in for the food only to find that it was ready, but no one ever called me despite having my number. We were given no utensils despite leaving a nice tip. Food-wise everything tasted ok (the kids liked the ribs), but the wedge salad was horribly basic - literally half a salad with blue cheese dressing and prepackaged bacon-bits, and some sprinkles of old scallions. There was no tomato, there was no crumbled blue cheese, there was no egg. This was nothing that you would expect from a restaurant. In Montana for work and had this place recommended to us. The atmosphere was almost sports bar meets bbq joint. The bar would definitely be a good place to catch the game! It's very open and welcoming. The service was great. Our waitress was kind and provided what we needed efficiently. The food was a little slow, but it was lunch time and we had a party of six. I got the western burger and it was pretty good. Often times you get a burger and there's just no flavor - you have to really pack on the condiments to make it worth it, but not with this one. It was good the way it was. It was also very large. I ate a quarter of it. The guys at the table all devoured theirs though! One we were seated in a booth with 0 silverwar, we were not offered water as per the nor right. Then when we ordere, for being a steak house in my opinion the food showed up way to fast, the lobster tail was over cooked, the steak was supposed to be medium rare, but was ice cold in the center, now the server was very friendl, but for what we paid, I Could have made it and been a 5/5 experience. So, when we arrived 3:15 we were greeted immediately by friendly staff at the front desk and we noticed they had happy hour specials in the bar only with half off appetizers and drink specials. No brainer. Liddy, was working the bar area and she was friendly, attentive without being overly intrusive. I ordered a cocktail that seemed a little weak, I just added an extra shot. They were out of about 6 craft beers on draft that were on happy hour. So that was a total bummer, but we muddled through. We ordered the fried green tomatoes with crab meat and they were absolutely delicious. I could eat those again over and over. We also ordered the crab stuffed mushrooms and they were just meh and a bit spicy. I would skip those. We also ordered their famous baseball filet medium rare with baked potato and it was perfectly cooked and it came out on a sizzling plate with butter. Never experienced that before, but I am certainly doing that at home. The baked potato was huge and fluffy. We would definitely come back. The place had a totally chill vibe and was super quiet when we arrived. Do yourself a favor, do not sleep on the Monday specials in the bar. When in town, I love to come here with my family to enjoy a nice evening out for dinner. I have tried quite a few entree's here and most of them are truly delicious. A couple of the entree's I would highly recommend is their Chicken Fried Chicken with either cream or brown gravy (both are excellent) with a side of mashed potatoes. For the times I have had this, it has always been cooked to perfection. The breading is light and crispy with the chicken inside being juicy. The gravy is nicely seasoned and adds just the right amount of flavor to the dish. It is that perfect comfort food that will keep you coming back for more. The other entree I would highly recommend is their 6 oz filet with truffle butter. I will emphasize that it is worth the extra money to add the truffle butter. Smother it on your steak and steamed veggies, it just takes everything to the next level and makes the experience a more enjoyable and memorable one. I ordered my steak medium rare (the only way to cook steak in my humble opinion). The waitress immediately had me check my steak to see if it was cooked correctly, and it had been. It had a nice outer char that was full of flavor, and was tender. Customer service has been exceptional each time I have visited here. This was my first time here with some friends and it was not a very good experience. We were the first people that arrived whenever it opened and there was no one to greet us whenever we got inside. There wasn't really anyone around to help us either. We had to wait a few minutes before someone acknowledged us and then we got seated. We got here right at opening because we didn't want to be rushed for lunch, but ended up being rushed anyway. We were at the restaurant for 1.5 hours. When we were ordering, our server wasn't sure of what the soup of the day or what the fish of the day was. She did not try to go find out, but she made a guess at what it probably was. It was really hard to hear our server at times because she spoke quietly. She did not check up on us very often during our time there and when she did, it was to tell us that our food would come out soon and she did not know why it was taking so long for us to get our food. The fastest service we received was whenever we asked for the check. The food overall was pretty disappointing. We tried getting fries, caesar salad, and mac and cheese, but they were out of the regular fries and mac and cheese and there was something about the lettuce for the caesar salad. We ordered fried green tomatoes, ribeye with salad and huckleberry vinaigrette and broccolini, famous filet with the gumbo and garlic mashed potatoes, and pulled pork sandwich with sweet potato fries. The fried green tomatoes were decent and presentation was good. The pulled pork sandwich was really big, but unfortunately, it was too salty. The gumbo wasn't terrible, but all it tasted like was like hot sauce. Both steaks were a disappointment. Both steaks were ordered to be medium rare, but the ribeye come out medium-well and the filet came out to be medium. This was the first time I have ever had to send something back to the kitchen. When the second ribeye came out, it was pretty much raw on the inside. At this point, we had to go because it had already been 1.5 hours and we had a meeting to catch. We had to take most our food to-go because the food came out 10-15 minutes before we had to leave. I ended up just taking the steak home to cook it to the medium rare. This was a pleasant surprise. While in Butte on business, I found the dining options to be pretty limited. I was steeling myself against having to eat at an Arby's or have a pizza delivered when my hotel front desk agent steered me here. I was skeptical since Butte is a pretty small city but it turns out that she gave me a great insider tip when she recommended it. At first glance, I got the cynical impression that it was a bit commercialized with plasticized placards, photos and ads on the tables for some of their offerings, almost like an Applebees. Those kinds of things turn me off because they are almost always photoshopped upgrades that lead to a lot of false hope. There were a couple of initial missteps when I was first seated and 4 different people stopped by within a minute of each other to welcome me and tell me their name as my server. I think that they were in the midst of a busy night and there was a little confusion but once that was settled, I was really well taken care of by Brenda. For the money, what I had was pretty close to outstanding. I had a fairly large, classic Iceberg Wedge salad for under $5 and it was as good as any I have ever had at some very expensive steakhouses around the country. This was followed by a $32 Ribeye which was cooked perfectly as ordered and I have to admit that I have paid double the money in some steak places for steaks that should be ashamed of themselves. This one was tender, flavorful, juicy and hit me right in the sweet spot. While there was no fancy description about how it must have come from a steer that received daily massages while listening to classical music, to me it had everything I want in a great steak. Perfect doneness, drippy with juices, deep flavor and a good chew. A perfect example of how you don't always have to break the bank for a top end product. My salad and steak, accompanied by a perfectly baked potato and a glass of red wine was under $50 all in. I was literally stuffed and satisfied. There was nothing fancy or pretentious about this meal but it was definitely well worth the money and I would not hesitate to do it all over again if I am ever in Butte in the future. I am seeing some of the really low ratings of this place by others and I cannot concur. I had a really enjoyable meal and the staff worked hard to make and keep me happy despite the initial confusion of who was actually going to be my server. I may never have a reason to be in Butte again in my life but if I am, I will not even think twice about coming here to take down another steak. read more

We came here for dinner tonight and it was super yummy! Even better it was DINE IN! We shared the Hot & Crunchy Shrimp & the fried green tomatoes. The HCS came with French fries and a mango sauce, the FGT came with lump crab meat and a balsamic vinaigrette drizzle. Both were good, my favorite was the HCS. I had the Fulton Street ribs with a wedge salad and a loaded baked potato. The salad was refreshing with their homemade blue cheese dressing, which was not overpowering. The ribs were good, not the best I've had but definitely tasty. I did have the Lemon Meringue cocktail which was delicious! Definitely recommend for a good family meal! P.S. Unfortunately I'm not able to give this place much more than 3-stars and that's only because the Server was really helpful and kind and the service was good. My two coworkers and I went here in the hopes of finding a great steak, since this is supposedly a "chop house" according to their name. There are certain price-point and food expectations at a chop house versus a "steakhouse" or a simple "steak restaurant." We ordered the spinach dip as a starter for the table and everyone ordered a drink. The appetizer came out pretty quick, which was nice because we had been traveling all day and we were pretty hungry. However, the spinach dip was just a basic, prepackaged, throw in the microwave kind of appetizer with no particular flavor or flair. We moved on to the main courses and we all ordered something different. I had the 6oz filet, medium rare with the crab topping and a side of sautéed spinach. When the steak came it was perfectly cooked but the crab topper was virtually flavorless. This could've been tofu for all I knew because it had zero flavor to the "crab." The sautéed spinach was not! It had been rapidly warmed in a skillet, no salt, no flavor and amongst the leafy plate some of the spinach was cooked and some still almost raw. Again, this had no flavor whatsoever. I was hoping for more but it wasn't to be. But I will say that the service staff was great. They were friendly and helpful and full of smiles. read more

My wife and I went here for our 40 anniversary and I mentioned this to the hostess. About 5 minutes later she bought us an anniversary card singed by the staff. Real nice. We had a few drinks and placed our order and when it came out my steak was overcooked and the server took it away without me even having to say anything. Well the bad part was they never brought me another steak and I told las my wife to eat her dinner while we waited as it was hot. 20 minutes later still no steak so I called the waiter over and ask that he deduct my steak from the bill and bring me my check. He was so apologetic he said our meal and drinks were on the house. He even bought us a cheesecake to go. Since we were just traveling through town and my wife had more than enough food left from her meal we had it boxed up and I ate back in n our room. So the food was excellent and the staff was great and if we ever get back to Butte we will go back. I am rating a 3 here but the staff was a 5 and the food was at least a 5 on this scale read more

My older brother and I went to eat dinner about 7:00pm.We we're sat immediately being Tuesday and not to busy.The nice waitress came and waited on us right away giving us the menus and telling us her name and asking what we wanted to drink.In after a few minutes we had our drinks.As it got busier it seemed as tho they were understaffed.It took longer than normally one would expect to see her again as our drinks had gone dry and still we weren't able to order.Finally she came and we could tell she was overwhelmed.On ordering we both ordered their ribeye steaks one medium and the other medium well.Both we're cooked according to our requests but my steak was unevenly seasoned being salty on on half but seasoned ok on the other half.Along with the steaks we also ordered salads and the garlic mashed potatoes which both were delicious.We had also ordered as an appetizer the crab stuffed mushrooms. Now as for taste they were very good except, #1. The mushrooms underneath the mushrooms weren't cooked. #2. When as you would eat them there were chopped pieces of uncooked celery which seemed to be very distracting and out of place for what could be an excellent appetizer along with 4 pieces of toasted bread which seemed to compliment the stuffed mushrooms. #3. As a thought *** It was awkward getting five stuffed mushrooms with two people and might have an option when the waitress saw the situation she could at that point have to option to ask if we wanted to add one more mushroom or more to keep things comfortable between two brothers #4. With such delicious excess of cheese and tasty goodness overflowing onto the plate with five stuffed mushrooms why offer only four pieces of bread? Maybe "another "option the house can increase profits? When a person decides to go out usually what they really want to do is eat whatever they want and are suggested small finishing touches to not only increase profits but also taking note of how well they are being taken care of. The waitress did a great job and was very apologetic of her slow service and explained she was overwhelmed. While staying at the Cooper King for a few nights, we've now eaten at this restaurant twice, once for dinner and then lunch the next day. Both times were good but not spectacular. For dinner I had the chicken fried steak and really should have chosen differently. It's just way too heavy a meal. The garlic mashed potatoes honestly were really bland (3 of the 4 of us had them and felt the same way). The CFS was very good but just too heavy and filling, I could only eat maybe 1/4 of it. My husband had the BBQ shrimp dinner and it was pretty tasty. A friend had the pork chop special and she wasn't impressed. The drinks are VERY potent so drink carefully. The petite fillet mignon, Baseball Cut Top Sirloin 10 Oz, Cedar Plank Salmon, Ribeye Steaks, Shrimp and Scallop Pasta and Boudin Balls are all things that I recommend. Since the new management has taken over, it definitely seems to have a better flow and better tasting food. Great for a romantic date night, but also family friendly as they have paper table cloths and crayons for the kids to draw with. Clean, cozy and pretty inside!
