This is a small but cute location with rooms on the second floor for services. I have been to a wide range of spa's and thought this one was nice based on location and space. Positive: -Facial serves were good -Nice meditation room at the end where they offer tea and a cracker and a hot neck pillow -Greenery -Recommendation on products but not push -There is low gate in the front opening as you walk in but it's for an adorable dog walking the ground so they do not get out. Cons: -Parking is 6.99 at bowers. They mention the lot but not the cost (to be fair, no issue with the cost but I recommend letting clients know it's a fee and you have to go through an app. It takes time to enter card info,etc) -Driveway parking was offered for parking but it is tandem and very limited. Street parking very limited. Give yourself time for parking. -Locker is coed. You lock when changing for privacy so if you are in a hurry, try to get there when available Overall, I would go back. It's quant and better than I have experienced even with big spa's. read more

Booked last minute reservation while on vacation at Disneyland. It was just the perfect spot to unwind and relax. My husband booked the 30 minute cranial massage and I booked the 50 minute stress relief massage. Both were with Emily and both did not disappoint. She applied just the right amount of pressure . She targeted my problem areas. Even the aromatherapy oil was perfect! This is a great local place. Priced higher than the cheaper Asian Foot Reflexology places but much cheaper than a traditional hotel spa. Definitely worth the money. Don't judge... I haven't had a full body massage since spring/summer of 2022! I am definitely long overdue. I can't believe I forgot this local gem to Santa Ana / Orange. It is right next to The Bowers Museum and super close to my neck of the woods in Orange. It is the most charming spa retreat. It was a home that was remodeled into a spa. The last time I had services here was when it was called Nina Monte Spa. I still remember them! It was thanks to my mom who bought be a gift certificate for them that I discovered them. And my mom knew about them because her antique business used to be right across the street from The Bowers. It truly is a charming setting. When you walk in through the side gate, you get welcomed with natural and zen by their garden and tranquil fountain. They have porch type seating if you wish to stay and zen-out! Inside is of course natural tones and with a Japanese influence. I love their locker room. It is intimate, but still has its charm. The meditation room is very warm, muted in darkness, and an East Asian influence in design. It's definitely relaxing. I personally like to unplug and do not take my cell phone in there. My treatment today was booked very last minute. My body just yearned and ached for a full body massage! I was so thankful they had an opening in the morning. My massage therapist today was Jennifer. She was wonderful! She asked what I wanted to focus on, which was my upper back, shoulder, and neck region. O... M... G... she was aaaaaamazing! There were times where I had sounds of true bliss and relaxation. And I felt so rejuvenated afterwards when I retreated into the meditation room with some tea and a scrumptious biscuit. Taking a moment post-massage to unwind and unplug was remarkable. Closing eyes and breathing in and out... it was zen! I definitely recommend Montanya Spa! The next time I come back here will be soon! I plan to bring people I love next time. They do offer couples massage! And this is a sweet day getaway for girl besties! Hello Fellow Yelpers I have mixed feelings about my experience here. I am an avid spa goer, so my expectations may be higher than others. First, you need to park in the paid lot next door and it is $6.00 flat fee. I guess if you can find a spot on the street, then you can park there. I was greeted by a nice young lady, and since it was my first time here, she had me fill out some standard form. So it appears that they only have one locker/ dressing room for all to use. You need to lock the door when changing. The shower and dry sauna are also in this area. I had a wonderful order women give me a body scrub and then my facial. She was nice, polite, and very professional. I then sat in the quiet room and waited for me to be called for my massage. I had a young woman, and I do not recall her name, escort me upstairs to a very small back room. Here is what I didn't care for. The table was small and did not feel very stable. I told her to please not touch the bottom of my feet, which she kept doing. She put cold lotion on her hands and then just put it right on me. In my opinion, she should have rubbed the lotion in her hands a bit to warm it up. She also used her elbow and knuckles a lot. I told her I hurt, and she just kept doing it. When it was done, I went downstairs, changed, and went to the reception desk to pay. Just to let everyone know, this was a $330 half day spa package . I voiced my concerns and feedback to the receptionist, and all she said was sorry about your experience. Now, I'm the customer service profession, and my first priority is to make it right. I would have done something other than not charging me the required 20% gratuity and letting me tip each person accordingly. Once again, this is my own opinion as I treat myself to a spa treatments frequently. They will not be getting a repeat customer from me. Take this review as you may. Visited Montanya Spa again with my friend Becky yesterday, and it is still all five stars. This is a tucked away gem next to the Bower Museum in Santa Ana; however, you feel like you're in a retreat-like setting elsewhere. The owner, Tanya, and staff have done a good job maintaining a smaller, intimate, exclusive setting, and it is appreciated. We did a half-day package with lunch. Both Celeste (body practitioner and masseuse) and Katherine (esthetician) were amazing. Very skilled and also educated in their disciplines, including products. My skin is still glowing a day later, and I slept better than I have all year, given my relaxing massage, body scrub, and reflexology. The entire staff is welcoming and accomodating, including their mascot dog, Zoey, and very accommodating. We finished off our treatments with a delicious lunch and a visit to the boutique for a body balm. Do pay to park in the Bowers lot as it is only $6 for the entire day, and you walk next door to the spa. They have a few spots on the premises, but it was easier to park in the lot. Booked a girls day here for 6 ladies and we all had a lovely time. We did a mixture of Massages & a Facial, all of which everyone came out relaxed and very happy with their service. Personally, I enjoyed my 1 hour massage with Jennifer. She was very sweet, checking my comfort level & if pressure was okay throughout my treatment. She talked with me what I was hoping to get out of my treatment beforehand, and she delivered the relaxation & relief my body needed after planning and executing the trip we were currently on. We all got a yummy little biscotti cracker & some really lovely tea in the meditation room, and were given warm neck pillows & blankets to relax & enjoy. The chairs in this room were a highlight for all of us (very comfortable) & the room was quiet and dimly lit, truly creating a relaxing waiting experience both before/after our services. Since we were a large group, I made our reservations well in advance; Andre was more than helpful and kind with making sure everything was coordinated and flowed well going into & confirming our appointments. They even let me bring snacks & drinks for our party to enjoy on the patio outside the spa, and provided me a nice place to keep anything cold if needed. As mentioned in many reviews, the changing room is small & shares the space with the sauna & shower, however, I did not find it any more/less uncomfortable to change in than any other spa, since they do seem to time the changing room so that parties have their private times in there. Parking isn't plentiful on the street, but we were able to find spots at the $6 parking lot just a quick, short, walk down the street. Either way, this was a really nice change of pace from the other more big name spas, a nice little hidden gem, and I would like to make my way back in the future. read more

I've been coming here well over 10 years and love it. It's one of my favorite hidden spots. I've never had to park in the bowers museum parking lot except for during their Christmas party (which is well worth it!) All of the staff are professional and do great work! I have a special spot for Jennifer. She has such a unique way of massage that's deep but relaxing at the same time. Concerning the locker rooms, I've never had to wait too long. I had a facial and body scrub, the facial was relaxing and my skin felt very light and cleansed afterward. The body scrub was soothing, though I didn't expect to get my hair wet. My aesthetician was patient and took her time ensuring her work was done with care. The spa was clean, well kept, there was a locker room and meditation room that you can use prior to an after your services. There is also an upstairs and downstairs both with different treatment rooms. Check in was pleasant and all of the staff were extremely attentive and kind. Recently visit this spa thanks to my sister in law that provided it as gift. I've been twice once for a prenatal massage and a 30 minute massage (for mommy time). The spa is small and cute but not as relaxing as I'd like, the front desk has been a little loud each time I've gone. And my recent confirmation call was less than professional. The massages themselves were good, I personally prefer warmed oil which wasn't provided. Street parking was limited the 2 times I went there's a parking lot that you can pay to use. Something I wasn't fond of is there's no waiting area to wait to use the locker room. The locker area is shared which doesn't really invite you to use the shower or sauna. My friend and I did a spa day. She did a full package spa day, and I just wanted to do a facial. She booked with Montanya Spa fairly easy and made sure we would finish our treatments at the same time. Upon arrival, I was greeted by the receptionist. He was very friendly and aware of appointments- names, I was truly impressed. It shows they take care of their clients. I have had facials but not like this one. Tonya did my facial. She was so kind and helpful. She asked questions about my skin care routine to get to know me better. When she preformed a certain treatment, she explained to me what it was for. Was treating myself as I have quit smoking and after a stressful week and being strong decided I needed a day of pampering. I got the Half Day Sanctuary and OMG it was amazing. From the incredible scalp massage during the body scrub and the rain shower after. To an incredible massage that had me drooling it got all the knots out. My only issue was the lady snoring in the zen room she was so relaxed. :) Also they were able to get me in right away when I called for the next day. I had an amazing time at Montanya Spa. It's very hidden at the corner of a residential street so you have lots of privacy. Parking is a little confusing on the street but we parked in the lot next door that is also used for the Bowers Museum. The sign says $6 all day parking but if you follow the link, it's really only valid for 3 hours. The property seems to be a converted home as the entry for the spa is through the back yard path between the garage and building. There is a knee length gate because there's a free roaming pup who greets you upon entry! The backyard is beautiful either way and zen garden, citrus trees, a small gazebo and the porch deck had two separate spaces for sitting. My bf gifted me the Couple's Retreat package which included full body massage, sea salt body scrub in the Sanctuary Room, and Facial with Parafin hand massage. I most looked forward to the facial. Celeste was super nice and communicated well to let me know I could request any adjustments to the pressure in my massage. I was so relaxed from the massage that by the time I got to the other two services with Katherine, I was just about ready to fall asleep. The scalp massage was the best part of the sanctuary room. The rain shower was so soothing after the scrub, the water pressure was just perfect. Katherine also did my facial and she provided recommendations to my skincare routine which was nice. I never had a facial before and my skin felt the cleanest it's ever been. I waited for my partner in the meditation room while our lunch was being prepared. Katherine also gave me tea and a biscoff cracker. For lunch, I had the Harvest salad with chicken which comes with blue cheese but I asked for that on the side. The salad was delicious! I tried a bit of the blue cheese and I can confirm I still don't really like it too much. I tried some of the Caesar salad my bf ordered and it was delicious as well though the croutons didn't taste spicy at all. I did not notice until I left that the locker room had a sauna, next time I will definitely try that out. read more

Pros: -Value: $300 for body scrub, facial, and massage -Relaxation room for in between services -Staff is very friendly -Parking available on-site -Rain shower after body scrub was AMAZING - I liked that you're able to have the room to yourself Cons: -Almost couldn't relax because of how quickly the esthetician and massage therapist were moving both in service and getting equipment but I still got the full time -Massage felt more like what I would expect at a reflexology place: very fast and broad movements and a lot of bone-on-bone contact so it hurt! I had a wonderful, zen experience at Montanya Spa last Friday. What differentiates this spa from other spas is that it is a more intimate, head-to-toe experience. My fiancé purchased the Half Day Sanctuary package for me to enjoy, which included the Montanya signature facial, hand and food paraffin treatment, sanctuary body treatment with rain forest rinse, stress releasing massage, and foot reflexology. The urban oasis spa is nestled between the Bower Museum and a residential neighborhood. Street parking wasn't too hard to find, and there is a museum parking lot that can be utilized for spa goers as well. After being checked in, I promptly changed into the robe and slippers provided and put my belongings in the locker provided. The changing room also includes a shower and sauna for guests to enjoy. The drawers by the sinks had a plethora of personal amenity items for the guests to enjoy. I was then guided into the meditation room, which had ambient amber lighting and a relaxed atmosphere. I appreciated the japanese influence on decor strewn around the spa, made the spa a very special oasis. I was given tea and a biscotti, which I consumed with zest, knowing the relaxation that will ensue next. My esthetician Larissa called my name and we went upstairs for the first thing on the agenda, which was my signature facial. I enjoyed the warm facial bed, and was pleased that my treatment started with the hand paraffin treatment. I enjoyed how the beginning of the facial consisted of cleaning and facial massages in the dark, while the latter part had the lights turned on for extractions and such, but I had an eye cover which made it relaxing. I loved every part of the facial, especially the eye cream and lip mask at the end. Once the facial was finished, I was led to my body treatment downstairs. The body treatment was in a large shower room with a massage bed in the middle that was covered in latex material and towels. I was scrubbed from neck to foot with a lavender sea salt scrub that felt absolutely phenomenal. Larissa was very professional and did section by section, utilizing the towels to uncover what part of the body was to be scrubbed. The scrub was followed by a scalp massage with a warm orange juice and honey concoction made in house. She then shampooed and conditioned my hair with a peppermint infused conditioning treatment. Once that was finished, she covered my body with a latex cover while she put on the rainforest shower (four huge rainfall showers on the ceiling with amazing shower pressure) since the water is cold when turned on. She took the cover off and exited the room, and I spent a glorious 5-6 mins rinsing myself off. I just laid on the massage bed and let the warm water rinse off the scrub. Once that shower was over, I was prompted to the meditation room, where I was given more tea and biscotti (yum!). My masseuse Alex called my name and we went upstairs to the massage room. The massage was super relaxing and I was able to have a nice chat with Alex while in a relaxed state of mind. I had a few knots in my back and Alex was able to gently alleviate any back pains I felt. He finished off the massage with a foot paraffin treatment and foot reflexology massage. Then I was led back to the meditation room, where I was given tea, biscotti and a raspberry jam cookie. I relaxed a bit more before changing into my clothes and checking out at the front desk. They have a nice variety of spa products you can purchase at the front as well and I purchased an Elta MD sunscreen. Next time, I will check out their skincare products since my face was glowing after their products were used on my face during the facial. Montanya Spa is truly a hidden gem of a spa and I am excited to come back for more alone spa time, as well as bring my friends for a friend spa session. read more

Limited driveway tandem parking - they had to shuffle cars when it was time for us to leave, but it wasn't the end of the world. Beautiful interior and exterior at the property. Friendly staff that answered all of our questions, since neither of us are massage-regulars. First, we filled out a waiver form, which only took a couple minutes. Then, we were shown to the changing area, which has a bathroom, lockers, sauna, shower, etc. All were included as part of the package, but we didn't use the sauna or shower. We changed into the robes they provide, then were led to the meditation room to wait for our masseuses and room to be ready. Dimly lit with relaxing music and candles. You get to sit in reclining chairs. After a few minutes, our masseuses came, greeted us, and brought us upstairs to our room. The couples massage was 55 minutes and was great! The following areas were covered: neck/scalp, upper chest, back, arms, legs, and feet. Afterward, we were offered to go back to the meditation room to have tea and/or water. They frequently organized and cleaned the changing room and restroom which I greatly appreciate. The changing room includes a shower, sauna, and lockers with a robe and slipper to change into. After changing, I was guided upstairs where I received the Sugar Love special which includes a stress relieving massage and sugar foot scrub. My massage therapist Deedee was AMAZING. Jennifer is a absolutely incredible! I got a deep tissue/hot stone combo and it was the best massage of my life. She has such strong fingers and she was so knowledgeable about all the different muscles. Even gave me advice on how to ease some knots in my back. Had a "couples romance" package but we had to be in separate rooms due to covid which is understandable. The place is very charming, peaceful and zen. Front staff was very friendly and greeted us. I got my massage done by Rebecca, and she gave one of the best massages I've had in a long time. She's very knowledgable and in tune with your body. She's able to pinpoint your muscle tensions, knots, and more (I have scoliosis). I was very impressed that she was able to incorporate both a relaxing massage and take care of my problematic areas. I'm not a light massage kind of person so I appreciated that she was able to apply good pressure. My husband who prefers a light relaxing massage was definitely pampered by Susan; he was so relaxed and felt like he was on a cloud. At the end of our sessions our masseuses surprised us with glasses of champagne to celebrate our anniversary! The entire treatment was great, minus the nip slip when trying to turn over in a less than ideal sized towel when I was getting the hair wash treatment. Also, I MIGHT have caught COVID from this establishment. I say that as a warning because masks were required only in part. I didn't get a facial until the very end, so really a mask can be worn the majority of the time. I didn't see a lot of sterilization during my stay. Montanya Spa is a small boutique spot. They have only about 10 clients at a time and that makes it feel much more personal. Listen carefully to what you want and do a very good job of providing it. The people are very friendly and laid-back. The owner walks around and asks if there's anything that you need. The technicians are excellent and not pretentious. I really wish I could have given thIs place more stars. The customer service,front desk and overall facility atmosphere is without a doubt a 5 star rating . The staff is nice but to be honest just being Nice doesn't cut it. Unfortunately my 1 star is for the "massage" itself. Big rip off, period. The only portion of my massage I was actually massaged was literally the last 2 minutes before my 30 minute session ended . I'm not exaggerating!! And that portion was in my arms hands and fingers (which only lasted about 2 minutes per arm ) that's the only portion where she actually put some effort. She did ask me what areas of concerns I had and I mentioned shoulders and lower back which was ironic because those areas along with everything else were not addressed . My 30 minutes session consisted of random single strokes and single handed light touches and pats over back/bones. Massage did not include any deep tissue , light tissue or actually muscle focus . How do I put this in words NO RUB DOWN what so ever . I am so disappointed since I was looking forward to this massage for weeks. I think most of the good reviews here are for facials which I would consider . However I will NEVER again waste my time and money on a massage here period !
