Combo Thai and Swedish. Deep pressure and stretching. The price board said 90 minutes would be $100 but my gal said $115 at the end. Scheduling an appointment was quick and easy. I had shoulder and neck pain that Emma was able to alleviate most of with a Thai deep tissue massage. Professional, clean, and comfortable. Be sure to communicate with your masseuse or else a Thai deep tissue can really test your pain tolerance; sore for 2 days is a good hurt and release of muscle tension. For only $69/hr for a combo massage sesh..not bad at all ~ I chose to do the traditional Thai and Swedish massage. I asked for a mild/medium pressured massage. Sooo worth it!!! Angelina was my masseuse and she was a perfect at working out my knots & kinks. Not gonna lie, there were some points of the massage where I was in pain from her strong hands, but no pain no gain sometimes people. It hurt so good in the end because I truly felt the pressure lifted from my focus areas: lower back and neck. We requested to be in a couples room, so my sis and I were side by side, sharing in the experience. The ambience was peaceful & inviting. It was dimly lit and soothing & relaxing music played in the background. There was cute Thai decor thruout the place. The establishment was very clean and they give you slippers to wear once you check-in, leaving your shoes in lil cubbies by the front door. They have a bin within your room (on a chair beside to your massage table) to place your personal belongings and clothes in. No one explained it or told us professionally before the service started.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]When I said the pressure was too strong, the staff member blamed me and said it was because I was on my phone, which made no sense and felt very unprofessional.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] She just left suddenly during the massage. I booked a combination massage, but the pressure was too light, so I asked to switch to deep tissue. Unfortunately, the massage itself was not good. None of the pressure points were properly addressed, and the entire session felt uncomfortable rather than relaxing. I honestly just wanted a good, enjoyable massage regardless of the type, but that was not the case at all. I regularly get massages 1-2 times a week, so I'm familiar with different techniques. When a massage doesn't work well for my body, I often ask for stepping, which alone can be enough to make me feel satisfied. However, when I requested this, it was refused. My massage therapist checked in on pressure- I was in heaven nodding off every once in a while. The combo massage is so great because you get the best of Thai massage with stretching and a little back walking coupled with deep tissue. I left feeling so incredible. So I came to Iyara to relieve my back, neck and shoulder pain. I've gotten deep tissue massages at other places, but it never relieved the pain for me. My appointment was with Angelina. She was very professional. Her room was clean, and she made me feel welcomed and relaxed. When she massaged me I immediately knew she would be able to help me. She knew where all the tightness was and started to loosen the muscles for me. At the end of the session my neck pain was gone! I felt much lighter. She told me to schedule a 90 minute or 2 hour follow-up session so she could continue the healing process. I saw her for 2 more sessions and now my back and shoulder pain is gone. She's unbelievable! Angelina is amazing! She took me as a client when my previous massage place refused me because of my back injury. Every time I get a massage from her, my pain decreases significantly. It's one of the only things that helps. She has also worked on my sprained ankle and bad knee. I can tell she really cares about helping me relieve my pain. TLDR: come here for a great, reasonably priced massage that will leave you feeling like jello for a week. They don't seem to have someone dedicated to answer the phones all the time normally; from what I've seen a lot of times the masseuses are usually all working and return your call once they finish with their current client. Recommend calling a few hours ahead or the day before to make an appointment, but honestly we are usually able to do walk-in or get a last minute appointment, but every once in a while you gotta wait until they are back in the lobby and finished with their clients first. I've never had a problem getting in. I highly recommend the combination massage for first timers. I'd say for the combination massage, the Swedish portion is light pressure. If you don't have high pain tolerance or want to be ultra relaxed, then you'll like this. The Thai portion is very intense and deep tissue which I much prefer. It's very intense when they step on your back or do assisted stretching, but they really stretch and deeply massage you and relieve all tension from your body. I have had sports massage, Swedish, and deep tissue at very fancy expensive spas before and they don't hold a candle to Thai massage. The massage can be painful at times, so I have to really focus on relaxing and breathing but I feel so amazing afterwards. I do jiu jitsu and have a lot of tightness and the massages here really help me recover and loosen all the stiff muscles. Sometimes I can get a bit sore after the massage the next day but that's because they really got in there and worked all the tight muscles! I do not have a favorite masseuse here. I've been several times and they are all hardworking and provide outstanding service. I have never been disappointed here and that's saying a lot. Their staff are incredibly professional and friendly. They all have their own styles and it's always cool to see what types of stretching they will do. It's different for me every time. read more
