I've been here a few times. Wine is good and food is as well. Today, I walked in, ordered food and walked over to grab a glass of wine, and was told there are out of clean wine glasses? The last winery I went to and it was probably the most disappointing. I did have a reservation but there was no way to differentiate between walk-ins or reservations. There was a wine club member who kept pushing for a seat and they ended up accommodating her and her friend and then there was a pretty buzzed group of 10 who also kept trying to find loopholes or an exception for them to get in. Despite having a reservation they had no idea where to seat us. We eventually got seated out as far as we could. Our server came by and after ordering the mixed flight he came by with it. He spilled a small but noticeable amount of the red and then just gave us a quick rundown of the wines and left. The only other time I saw him near our table was when I flagged him down to just close out and leave. The whole experience from start to finish was just pretty meh and definitely could have been better. read more

As a 15 yr member we have some cred. This was our 4th event(breakfast w/ballons), and unfortunately for the $52 price ea. can only give it a 67%. Didn't bother to use heated buffet trays to keep warm. Selection was good but ended up cold. To be fair it was an outdoor event. Needless to say we won't do a breakfast event again. This is one of the few wineries in Temecula that still offer wine flights during covid times. We came here as a walk in at 2pm on Saturday and was pleased to see it not that crowded. We were promptly seated and greeted with menus. Since we just ate lunch we decided to do flights for $16. Our server was a doll with recommendations, Pauline, I believe. She was bubbly and a good vibe overall! The only ding was that they didn't have any misters onsite and it was 100 plus degrees. We were also told as walk ins we couldn't stay longer then 3pm for reservations. It was a little crazy since only a couple of tables were only occupied, but understandable. Overall, really clean venue with beautiful views of the vineyards and a beautiful pool onsite. The outdoor views of this spot is really what makes it. It is a pretty big space with plenty of outdoor seating which is great on a nice sunny day. We each did a tasting and I enjoyed everything I tried except the rosé was a little sweet for my taste. I will say the service was mehh they didn't seem really helpful or educated on the wines when we asked for suggestions. I had friends visiting from out of town and we were all disappointed by our visit to this winery. This was our 4th one this weekend so had a good comparison. It was very hot out that day and I knew they had a large lobby area with A/C so I figured this may be a good spot to taste indoors and stay cool. The ambiance on the outside is nice so no complaints there but when we got inside the girl checking people in was eating her snacks while she was telling us about the tasting options. She didn't offer much information unless we kept on asking probing questions. Once we got to the tasting room, the young gentlemen at the counter didn't offer any information about the wines, he just said, "what can I get for you"? as if we were at a bar. He later admitted he didn't drink wine and hadn't tasted many. It was clear he did not have much knowledge about the wine. He was pouring. We all just ordered an individual tasting and wanted to learn about the wines. There was no engagement with us or asking if we've been there before or gave us some information on any of the wines, in fact, we saw him yawning several times while he was waiting for other guests. The lady that was pouring next to him was 1000% better and more engaged, and it was obvious by the crowd she had around her waiting for her to pour and it was clear no one wanted to go to the young man. For such large tasting room there were little tables and chairs for the amount of guest it could handle and there was quite a few people looking for a place to sit and fighting over tables. It was obvious they take care of their members and more of the attention was put in the member area versus the regular walk-in patrons. That is understandable, however, you would think they would still want to offer walk-in guest good service in order to convert them to new members or buy bottles. We were trying to track down staff to get some more stools for our table and my friends saw one of the servers/food runners near the bathrooms eating nachos off of a guests plate before he delivered it to their table and he saw that we caught him and gave a smirky smile. Clearly that's a common practice. It felt there was no management presence or care for their guests. The wine itself wasn't bad but was overpriced for the service provided. Also, the bathrooms were dirty and not maintained and it just felt like an overall lack of care. If I was the owner I would be embarrassed and mad of the staff that was running this place. It would be more understandable if it was a slow, mid-week day but it was a peak weekend afternoon, and it looked like a bunch of young kids running the place, who really didn't care. It was a big disappointment and we would not recommend this winery unless you decide to become a member and maybe you can get better service. If a manager reads this, we were there Sun, Aug 11 between 1-3pm. I think it has potential with the right staffing, management and training. The craziest thing was that guy eating off of somebody's food, it was disgusting. Also, you should not have so pouring wine if they don't drink it or know anything about the wine. Most people come out winetasting and want to know a little bit about the varietals, where the wine was grown or what the winery is known for and if you're not able to answer those basic questions you shouldn't be Pouring. Unfortunately, there are too many other choices that we will not be back, I hope this was a one off and not a normal experience. read more

Overall the prices were reasonable for the wine bottles and the quality was nice. My favorites where the Merlot for the reds and the Muscat Canelli for the whites. There was plenty of areas to sit and enjoy the wine out in the patio area and some smaller tables inside, but no seats there. The empanadas were pretty good, but really small for the price. The view was really nice as well ( would have been nicer if we went during peak season because everything was pretty dry already) But overall will most likely revisit this place it was a nice time. read more

Great wine, great food, and a super friendly ambiance! I came with a couple of friends to grab a quick bite and some wine. I had the grille chicken gyro and house fries and we shared some hummus. Man, the food was amazing. In terms of the wines, we had the Cabernet Frac (great strong red) and Unique Elements (chilled and sweeter). The best late Saturday lunch ever! A solid overall winery in Temecula. I came here for a coworker's birthday. We had wine flights of several flavors. Everything was amazing. The inside atmosphere was festive. The staff behind the counter served us our tastings and our wine flights. They were very friendly and very patient with all of us. They were even more helpful and informative when we wanted to know how a particular wine was. Most of our visit, we sat outside. Not a big crowd for a Sunday afternoon. We had Alex serving our wine tastings and he is so knowledgeable and pleasant to be in his presence. I hope he's there every time I visit! I told him my wine preferences and asked him to do the wine selections for my tastings and he nailed it! I love the option of 6 or 9 tastings for $20 or $25, I believe. With the wide variety of wine selections, I like not having to limit to only 6. We ordered truffle fries that came with a fabulous aioli and the meatballs that were baked to perfection served with grilled bread. We were there towards the end of the day and the bathrooms were still like they were just cleaned(important to me). I can't wait to come back to enjoy all this winery has to offer! Samples are predominantly reds but they do have a few whites. My friend is a wine club member here and we came up on a rainy Thursday afternoon. Very few people here and adequate seating space for social distancing. Food was top notch. The spicy honey drizzle paired well with the cheese and pepperoni, and the fresh Parmesan shavings over a very potent truffle flavor and piping hot fries and light aioli for dipping. We are in Temecula for the weekend and decided to stop here for lunch and potentially follow up with a wine tasting. Very limited indoor seating options, but the outdoor options are great. The initial service of ordering food went fine, however, we ended up waiting over an hour for our food to be cooked and delivered. By the time our food finally came out, we were missing one of our dishes. We politely asked a server to check on the status of the dish and he said that he was going to go check. He never returned to our table so we went to discuss a refund for the meal as it never came out and we were waiting for over an hour. They refunded the meal immediately, without any questions, which was great customer service. However, we were under the impression that the food would still be coming out as a courtesy for the inconvenience. That was not the case. Someone came out to explain that when they issued the refund, they cancelled the food ticket even though they only fulfilled half of the order. However, they did not let us know that initially. Overall, very disappointed with this service and the way it was handled. read more

Visited this wonderful winery with my hubby for his sister's birthday two weeks ago. We had a wonderful experience here and look forward to coming back. RESERVATIONS: Required. Make sure to make them in advance online otherwise you may not get a spot. Only outdoor dining but tables are very spaced out. Masks are required. PARKING: A medium sized parking lot. Can fill up early in the evening so make sure to arrive early. CHECK-IN: They have a door where you check-in for your reservation. The line is marked with social distancing markers so make sure to come early so you don't have to wait in a long line. Check-in was quick. You just give them your name and they direct you to the register to open a tab to order your food and drinks. AMBIANCE: Stunning outdoor dining area, all tables are very spaced out so our party felt safe. There's a fountain in the center and you can see the vineyards in front of you. The tables have umbrellas for shade, but the Temecula heat can get to you. There's some soft indie rock playing in the background to give the place a fun vibe. MENU: They have a wine and food menu. Food items include salads, starters, pastas, pizzas, and sandwiches. Their wine menu features their popular wines. You can opt for a bottle, a glass, or even a flight. FOOD: My hubby and I shared a Margherita pizza and parmesan truffle fries. Our items came out in less than 10 minutes upon ordering. We both felt the parmesan truffle fries were amazing, but the pizza could use more work. It was too greasy and we had a hard time finishing it. We wanted to try the Kobe beef meatballs, but they stopped serving them for the week. Hopefully we'll try it next time around. WINE: We both opted for the full bodied wine tasting flight for about $20 each. The wine flight came in 5 small shot glasses sitting in a plastic cutout tray. It was kind of cheap looking, but it held all of the wine shots in place. We were each given a wine glass to pour the wine shots into. Nonetheless, it was a good amount of wine per glass. The entire flight was delicious, but our personal favorite was the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon. We regret not buying a bottle to take home, but we will next time. CONCLUSION: This was my hubby's first wine tasting experience and he loved it. We've been in our safe bubble because of Covid and decided to take a chance with Monte de Oro and we had no regrets. I had visited Monde De Oro a few times in the past and always had a great experience. Last week, I booked a table for their Valentine's Day dinner event. Having never dined there, I wasn't sure what to expect. Every aspect of the evening was brilliant. The waitstaff were outstanding. There were four different types of wine on the prix fixe menu. We ordered a bottle of the Cabernet Sauvignon. When aked by our waiter if we liked, I replied "it's OK". He then asked what could be better. I explained I thought it was a bit watery and not full bodied (promise I am not a wine snob), more like a Pinot Noir. He made us an offer to bring another type of wine even though it was not on the menu for our evening. We were able to taste it before he popped the cork. I find this type of service rare. We were not charged extra. As for the food, it was delicious, a charcuterie board, a prawn salad and a delicious and cooked to perfection top sirloin steak. The ambiance was great, not too crowded and well staffed. A five star evening. read more

The space has a small retail area and a bistro for lunch options. The menu is limited and a bit pricy, but tasty. I had the pesto sandwich and it was good! The truffle fries were delicious! Apparently this is medium well. No pink in sight.. I asked for my burger to be medium rare. I was told that they only do medium well. I figured ok a little pink is better than none. The waitress took my food and brought it back stating this is all they can do. This makes me upset because this was the wellest of the three burgers at our table. During covid I didn't think they could take food away and bring it back saying they won't fix it. To say the least thank god I have been vaccinated. Temecula vineyards are 40 minutes away which is not bad at all for a one day trip. I made a RSVP at this place because I heard it's pretty nice and their wines are really great. And it's right. This is a perfect destination for those who want to visit the wineries, but don't want to run into crowds. I love the atmosphere- it's not empty, but there is plenty of distance between you and other tables. I also enjoyed the view. Monte De Oro is located on top of a hill and overlooks multiple vineyards. This is a very picturesque location with great service. I've been twice and I've enjoyed it both times. I also have family who are members and they also love the wines and atmosphere. For members- they have great specials and free wine tasting, as most wineries do. As far as their wines- I'm not a connoisseur by any means, but I am a fan of their wines. Well balanced and lots of selection for different palates. When I go owe usually do a tasting flight and end up with one of their reds. (My husband loves their Cabernet Sauvignon) The food is also great! The bruschetta is so flavorful. We have been members at Monte De Oro for two years. The staff is friendly, winery is beautiful and wines are great. The food is okay but a bit pricey, as with most winery offerings. The rules have changed during Covid, of course but we can sit outside under cover. They no longer allow pets. As the weather has been great they aren't using misters or heaters now. My first time at this winery last week. Sunning views, spacious patios with a lot of seating. I wanted to take a tour of the cellars but was told it's closed.
