We found this place online. We were looking for a hotel with…read more2 beds for 2 nights. After seeing the pictures and reading the description, we booked the room. There is a no refund policy, which means you cannot cancel your reservations. This place is very expensive, more than what we wanted to spend. With it being summer, peak season, and no other rooms within 75 miles, we had no options but to take it. The place is very old, very very old. They said that they newly renovated. The repainted, put in new linoleum floors, super cheap beds, they are really cots with a soft matress put on top, they are not real beds. They give you a child size table and 2 child size chairs to sit on. A mini fridge, which is okay, and a very tiny microwave. They do not do yard maintenance, even though they say it is more natural and organic and better for wildlife, and to save water. They said the mow every 2-3 weeks. There are huge rosemary shrubs in front of all of the rooms. They are overgrown and should be trimmed, your view is blocked. There are a few plastic tables and Adirondack type chairs out in the field, but nothing near your room if you want to sit outside. There is a nice pool which they lock up every night at 7pm, so your family has to get out at 7pm. The bathrooms are small but come with towels, etc. They have hair dryers, soap and shampoo. We had a few issues our room, I reported it to the 800 number, whom told the manager. He called me and we discussed the issues, and said thank you, that he was unaware of those issue and he will fix them. I was satisfied with my conversation with the manager, he was very professional and understanding. Thank you Xavier. This place is next to Northwwods golf course. There is a restaurant at the golf course. Next door is a little cafe with good food. It is quiet and peaceful here except for a few noisy tenants. $320 per night is way too much for this place. See photos. It should be no more that $129 per night.

Had an Ice Machine that we used to put ice in our cooler, ice bag, and water bottles. There is a water machine in the 'lobby' that has three temperature settings, Hot, Cool, and Cold. There is also a pool, though it was closed when I was at the hotel, but is open during summer from 9am to 7pm. Had some great breakfast options near by. Great little place though! Beautiful scenery near by also!

You lie back and look out the sliding glass door with a view of gorgeous trees and sky while the jets massage you. Loved it! My dogs loved chasing each other in the yard. It's really beautiful. Lots of Hydrangeas. The walk down the river path is easy. There were two single kayaks and a double and also a canoe. They have a large assortment of life vests too. We canoed to the Monte Rio dog beach and it took about 4 mins. Very close. I would definitely bring blankets or thick sheets to cover furniture if you have dogs. We were there in Nov and it was wet and there are lots of leaves. Not muddy but it was nice to not have to worry about dog prints on furniture. The owner is super nice and takes pride in his home. He called us an hour after we checked in to make sure everything was okay. The housekeeper had told him one of the propane tanks was out. He told us and said he'd replace it when he got back. We said not to worry because there are two bbqs. The next day after we were playing in the yard we saw a new propane tank on front porch. He didn't bother us. He just quietly put it there and left. He just got back from his honeymoon but took the time to make sure all was well. You will LOVE this place. Heater worked great, views amazing, pretty bright paintings done by the owner, nice large washer and dryer, store around the corner, wonderful hot tub...Paradise!

Parking is easy and the huge advantage is stepping outside and walking directly onto your own dock or beach on the river. A majority of us had such a great time at the house there was little reason to leave. The dog loved it too. Some of the items inside the house are older and maintain the essence of this historic place. This may not be for everyone, like the taxidermied animals, but we thought it gave it a great 80's/ 90's charm. Would rent the house again if staying in the area with a large group.

Cute Inn, each unit has a fair bit of privacy, and most have their own decks. There is also a grassy lawn that leads right to the river, with hammocks and picnic tables. Some seats to lounge in. Very dog friendly - we had a medium size dog and that was no problem. There were some kayaks there but we did not get to try those out. The room itself was basic but clean and comfortable. The manager treated us very poorly, saying all sorts of bizzarre things to my 8 year old daughter and I. He refused a refund although we had not used the room at all and had booked last minute, five hours earlier that same day at noon. First he said he couldn't refund without his employer's permission. I requested he ask the owner and he behaved very angrily and asked if "You want to be my boss? Will you pay me? Buy my food, my bread, my roti?" It was absolutly bizarre and such an obvious show. Finally I went and knocked on the owner's door, a nice lady who lives on top of some of the units and she offered a refund immediately. The manager is not doing his job maintaining the property and, when I mentioned there were none of the normal postings about fire safety, hotel licensing, etc., he accused me of using my "big city power to beat up on small business" advising I should go beat up on a corporate hotel. After he finally refunded my one night stay and we were driving away, he actually yelled "Get the F%&k out!", taking a picture of my car while we drove away. I am in Guerneville a dozen times a year and I have never experienced anything so sketchy.

I checked in to one of their rentals 4 days ago and walked into a myriad of things that had just…read morenot been cleaned. I reported it right away and someone came out. We walked through the house and grounds. The couch smelled like mildew and dipped down in the middle, they'd left a dirty/orangey dish rack half cleaned just laying outside on a table next to a dirty paper towel and the cleaner, dust everywhere, pile of old bags under a kitchen island/chopping block. I started cleaning up bags and underneath was dusty and dirty and floor under that hadn't been cleaned at all...crumbs and stickiness on chopping block table, dog poo and trash in yard. Old bag and receipt on desk... it was like it had been half cleaned which was ridiculous because it was like 700 sq feet and no one had even done a sweep of the yard at all. The inspector and myself discussed lots of options. One he presented was a " febreze" of the mildewed couch and a vacuum of the unclean kitchen tile, which i found unacceptable. He did offer a clean the next day, which I had needed some time to think about, due to trusting his promise of that, the inconvenience, having to stay the night in a dirty house, and what that actually meant to this company. We discussed alternative lodging which I decided against asking about at all the next morning after going over the reviews here on Yelp and realizing there was no guarantee that any of their properties would be well maintained. I had used my entire summer savings (I'm a teacher), had my dogs and all supplies packed in the car, my family was planning a visit. Honestly, the location was great, the cabin was cute, and the yard would've been lovely. The listing promised an "enhanced clean" due to covid-19 and I had been counting on that to feel safe during this time. Even a thorough clean would've sufficed. I left about an hour after I checked in, which I would have NEVER done if I had felt at all comfortable with the situation at all, having no guarantee of a refund or a satisfactory resolution. I had emailed and called the night before and emailed again in the morning, deciding that the state of the place upon my arrival was unacceptable and I requested a refund. I had also taken some time to look at the Yelp reviews here which I should've done before I booked. I had relied on the listing reviews and my trust in Airbnb. The only response I got was from Star L., who is the one who has also responded dismissively to several of the bad reviews on this site, was that I should cancel the reservation and we'd proceed from there. There was no apology, no attempt to salvage my stay or reassurances from her about a future enhanced clean, or any kind of refund for my inconvenience or the failed check in. I canceled as she requested, hoping that would expedite my refund. She then responded that the inspector told her that the place was perfectly clean and he thought I just didn't like the place. She offered me a partial refund if they could re-book it. She told me that since I had asked about other accommodations when the inspector and I were trying to salvage the situation that meant I didn't like the place. I had never once expressed that I didn't like the place, to him, to her, on a voice mail or in writing. I was floored by Star L.'s response. The inspector saw the unclean parts of the house and garbage in the yard. He acknowledged them when speaking with me. He told my brother in law over the phone the next day that he had spent an hour an a half cleaning the place the day after I had left. It became a case of he said/she said. Ignoring that, I had pictures of the spots I had immediately reported to her and to Airbnb. She acknowledged none of that. I was told that no one believed that the place was unclean, and in so many words called a liar. You don't know me, she doesn't know me, but I'm not a liar. I had no ulterior motives. I would've given anything to have avoided this stress. I had even started cleaning up the place on my own before I discovered more and more areas that had been skipped by their cleaning crew. Airbnb is busy right now but I did get a hold of them. and they made things right by finally giving me a full refund, not Russian River Rentals. I think it's quite clear that this company has terrible customer service. Star L. dismissed me, her customer, as I've now seen her do in response to quite a few unhappy reviews on this site. No one should have to go through this with this company, especially during a time like this. It looks like some people have had quite nice experiences with their stays. But if you have an issue, I would strongly advise you to document everything as thoroughly as possible. Based on my recent experience, this company is untrustworthy, does not support or validate their renters (in my case, it was implied I was a liar several times) and takes no responsibility when it comes to dealing with any issues that may arise with your stay.

This review relates to a stay at Seaton Hill House 10/29/11 for 5 harrowing nights…read more First of all, we requested the address for this home in advance so that we could map it. Russian River Rentals refused to give us the address until they had received payment for the entire stay. Secondly, and most importantly, the roads leading up to the "Seaton Hill House" vacation home are dangerous, unlighted, treacherous drop-offs which are barely passable. When we arrived the first evening, due to the traffic build-up on IH101, it was already dark. Even with the best directions, the road to this house is confusing, to say the least and it would not be an exaggeration to state that the road conditions threatened our lives. One of the passengers was forced to evacuate the vehicle and vomit. Every passenger in the car was in terror. We circled around and around the mountain, adding to the growing stress in the car, because there was no lighting to show us the number on the vacation home, and it was impossible to see (five people with great motivation to find it were unable to spot it). We passed it up several times, each time in more despair that we were going to be victims of the tiny dirt road with its twists and turns and its sheer cliffs. When we finally figured out by process of elimination regarding the neighboring addresses, finding it only after backtracking several times, in exhaustion and shot nerves, we realized that the only way to park was to back up a slanting gravel driveway. The driveway was pointed in each direction toward sheer drop-offs, as well, and was paved with dirt and gravel, which caused our vehicle to slip and slide. A mistake of only a few inches would have ended in a vehicle crash and injury to the driver. Once we exited our vehicle to bring in our luggage, we realized that the house was not fitted with any ramps and so we had to bring our luggage up many stairs which were built into the high sides of the hill. We had someone with emphysema with us, as well as the person who vomited out of fear and was so anxiety ridden that she was quite ill. My boyfriend tried to bring up everyone's luggage himself, as the only other male with us was the guest with emphysema. I took pity on my boyfriend and helped him carry the luggage part of the way, although afterward my back and neck were in pain. Once we entered the home, it became evident that the photos of the home on the Russian River website were deceptive, as was the description of the home and that not everything about the home had been disclosed. The photos caused the rooms to appear larger than they actually were and the kitchen was described as "gourmet" although there was nothing "gourmet" about the smallish kitchen. In addition, the sunroom has a floor that slants to one side. The bedrooms downstairs underneath the sunroom area had floors which also slanted, so that when you are in bed, you feel the bed slanting downward. The following day after our arrival, part of our vacation was spent in the emergency room in Santa Rosa at Kaiser. The person who had been made sick by the ascent up the mountain was still sick. She and her husband were forced to spend the greater part of the whole day in the emergency room treating the condition which was brought on by the road we had to travel each day. She was forced to take medication to alleviate the condition. There was no warning about the road conditions in the information posted on the Russian River Rentals website. I believe it was foreseeable that these roads could cause people to become ill when trying to travel them and potential guests at Seaton Hill House should be warned in the description of the home on the Russian River Rentals website. On Sunday evening, October 30, we attempted to grill dinner on the patio grill. The grill does not work. All 5 of us returned from our vacation much more stressed than when we left for vacation, due to the misleading and undisclosed conditions which we encountered

The room looks as if it may have been recently remodeled but they forgot to decorate it, so they threw a couple of sadly outdated prints up and a horrible image of a sheep's face against a wallpaper print wall. The heater needs work because it makes a noise resembling concrete being swept- all night long. The room had no visible power outlets near beds, where we expected to be able to recharge phones and multiple devices. In order to turn on the lamp between the two beds you need get down on the floor under the desk to find the switch, which was plugged into an extension cord under the desk. The room needs at least one reachable outlet per wall outside of the bathroom countertop which is too wet to act as a charging area. An outlet with four plugs needs to be installed between the beds at top-of-desk level. The bedside lamps are ancient and need replacing. We were very disappointed and found the room unacceptable. Don't stay here.

The weather is always significantly warmer than the surrounding coastal towns & the outdoor pool is a wonderful amenity on a hot day. The price point is perfect for the comfortable & clean rooms. We appreciate the top notch service from Ryder at the front desk. He has been incredibly friendly & helpful over the years. On our first few visits the fountain was running, but it has been turned off the last couple years, which is quite disappointing. Regardless of this small complaint we are looking forward to our next visit!

It is also the perfect stay located at the center of Occidental's charming town. The rooms are themed with verandas with lovely views of the town and forest views. The rooms are spacious, welcoming, and comfortable. We enjoyed the cozy fireplace seating area, the lovely veranda, and charming atmosphere of the main entrance, balcony, cozy robes, and a large bath jacuzzi. The breakfast was exceptional. We enjoyed the large breakfast buffet with hot dishes upon order (all included). See you again!

The only downside for me and my allergies is that there is wood fireplace in each room. The bathroom had plenty of hot water. The breakfast was from 8-10 am in the dining room and had a decent meat-less spread. Toast, bagels, oatmeal and toppings, plain yogurt, cottage cheese, scrambled eggs, hard boiled eggs, fruit salad, coffee, tea assortment and juices. The grounds are super cute and weather permitting there is a movie playing on a projector with complimentary s'mores to cook on the outdoor wood fire. Since we had our dog, we didn't use the pool or spa. "Aunt Kay" we interacted with the most and was so kind to both of us and Dio. She made our stay! Not only was she informative but also checked in on us when we we'd pass through the lobby. Dio was a big fan of her. Cons: if you have allergies or are sensitive to wood smoke, this is not your destination. Again, there are wood burning fireplaces in each room and a large fire pit by the movie. The room we stayed at is across from the pool and it can get noisy. You can also hear everyone that walks in front of your room. Along with that there is a lot of wildlife, so you may need ear plugs. If you need to sleep in the dark, the front blinds are going to still let in light, so bring a sleep mask. Update: we got a text that I forgot my socks in the room. They offered to mail them to us, we declined. I don't remember the last time house keeping and the front office too the time to be that considerate.

The room itself was very clean, sheets, bathroom, everything was very clean. I always get paranoid about bed bugs and we had zero issues. The breakfast in the morning was also very nice and fresh with good options. They had eggs, sausage, toast, bagels, cream cheese, very delicious fruit, oatmeal, coffee and tea. That alone made it a reasonable place to stay. The dining room was also very clean. I also really liked that they had the outdoor movie theater and smores. Our kids loved it each night. The library/game room is also such a cute unique area that is great for those who have kids. However now to the bad. That includes the cute library. While a cute idea, it's extremely dirty filled with dead flies and bees all over the windows and even cushions. The windows on the outside have not been clean in a very long time. The dead flies, bees are everywhere. There on the floor, the light fixtures, jacuzzi and pool. The jacuzzi had so many dead bugs in the water and the water also had probably dirt from people's bodies. It was very unsanitary and disappointing to say the least. The property itself is not maintained. There are bugs, weeds, and poor condition of most of the outside of the property. It's too bad because it could be a great place to stay if they just did some extra work to clean up. Part of me would want to come back because of the breakfast and outdoor movie but they really need to take the time to clean.
