This cute hotel hidden at the end of the river has incredible sunsets & hikes. You've to pay attention to your email, they send you exact directions because there is very low connectivity in the area. I like that because i can read & look at the birds, and truly be connected with nature. Their rooms are thoughtfully designed and the lobby is great for some morning coffee & work. They let your puppy in for a small fee Plus is is close to Sonoma Airport, I can get there easy from Los Ángeles, I'm coming back!.

We stayed in the Gray Whale suite this past weekend while in town for a wedding. First time to Jenner and the Jenner Inn. All we can say is that the suite was perfect. Stunning view. The balcony is worth it on its own. The suite itself has a quaint, rustic feel yet a clean, updated look. Because it's a little up the road from the main lodge, you really feel like you're away from everything, in a good way. The staff, as well, were incredibly friendly and responsive. From check-in and the cute breakfast box they provided us for the morning, to addressing any needs we had, the hospitality was felt. We also loved the little coffee shop across the street, which had the perfect outdoor patio overlooking the water to sit and enjoy our lattes and some really good fresh scones! Was pretty ideal. Overall, a wonderful stay. The suite we had would be perfect for a romantic weekend away or just some needed solitude and is def the one we'd stay in again. Our family also had The Boat House suite next door, which they really liked as well. Although just a tad smaller, it had an equally great balcony overlooking the water and the same feel.

Stayed at the kayakers room. It is an ok room. The walk in rug could have been washed but it is a nice place. The location is perfect for what we need it. Breakfast: you will be provided with your breakfast the night prior. This includes a muffin, apple, muffin and a yogurt. In the room we have a mini fridge, coffee, cream, and sugar.

What a beautiful place! We stayed in the "Grey Whale Cottage" with our dogs and had a lovely time! Highly recommend!

This much beloved inn from another era is finally undergoing some needed upgrades since being purchased by new owners. Our cottage looks out on the confluence of the Russian River and Pacific Ocean. Remote but wonderful. We have funky furniture in a huge room with a bath that will need some refreshing but certainly fine as is. There are two nearby places to eat with one closed two days during the week so your best bet for evening dining is 8+ miles south to bodega bay where there are many good places to eat. Boxed continental breakfast provided each day; easy parking along the Coast Highway, charming small outdoor garden perfect for an evening glass of wine and the usual refrigerator, sink microwave and coffee pot make this Inn a winner for those looking for a quick get away with peace and quiet and beaches and hiking not far away.

Check in, lounge, and the front desk area used to be an old post office.

Loved it! I needed a night of R&R on my own and after having driven by this area on several occasions I knew just where I wanted to be- on this beautiful moody river where it meets the ocean. The Jenner Inn was a perfect escape. But before I go on, as others have complained, let me just say there was a tv, Wi-Fi and I had no trouble using my cell phone in my room by switching to Wi-Fi calling (something I even have to do at home.) But that's not why I was there. I wanted to fully unplug. I stayed in the Sonoma Room where I had a full view of the river from my bed. I could walk out on the terrace and take it all in even more. At night, with a cracked door, I could hear the waves crash at the inlet and the bird song intermittently with the rain. I had a smoke and odorless fireplace in-room to take out the evening chill, a full-length cast iron tub to stretch out in a bath and actually soak with plenty of hot water, and a microwave and refrigerator to prepare the take out food I picked up on my drive in. My goal was just to enjoy the quiet and my surroundings without going in for the night and I really did. I spoke with Jonathan on the phone prior to, on arrival and on check out and he's was very warm and friendly. Parking was easy as no one else would have cause to park near the cabin. There is a flight of stairs down to the room but that's to be expected to get the view of hovering over the river. Just note, these are not new buildings. If they were, they wouldn't have the charm, the view, or the cool old bathroom fixtures (like a real tub!) and most likely not the same price either. Perfect for a romantic getaway but even better as a solo retreat- to truly soak it in! I can't wait to come back!

I don't usually go on rants but this was a bday present/celebration, and for the price, let me tell you what you're in for... first of all if you're claustrophobic this is not the place to stay, if you're under 5'7" the shower hates you (stream right to the face and the shower head doesn't allow for movement) and if you're over 5' tall the towels won't cover pretty much anything but your top or bottom. The walls are missing paint, poorly sheet-rocked, and the cabinets missing veneer- $269 a night (total rip off). Also if you are having any important calls you might need to have then I don't suggest here bc there is no service and the WiFi cuts out when you need it the most. Oh and hopefully you don't need a plug bc they use extension cords for everything bc there is one outlet in the room. If you enjoy resting in a comfortable bed, nice mattress, comfy pillows and soft sheets- don't stay here, we believe the floor is crooked so the bed slants, then there's a large divot on the left side, the pillows are basically pancakes and the sheets feel like old hospital sheets. And if you want privacy/sound that doesn't travel good luck, the walls are paper thin and we heard the family next door from check in until we left for dinner- perfect for a romantic stay; including hearing the room next door shower and use the restroom, through the paper walls and the fact there's no pea trap in the shower (so sometimes you even smell the people next door using the restroom). And the view, I hope you like plants and the shabby house across the street or standing on a chair to see any water. This is by far the most expensive "motel 6" I've ever stayed in, and for the record at least those cheap motels are a bit roomy (see pics). Last but not least, if you are the owner of a service animal in which you need for a disability, be prepared to be argued in to paying a pet deposit, despite the fact it's against ADA laws and you need the animal for assistance. (I was told if you have a "dog" you should notify them beforehand even if it's for your disability- so you aren't charged a fee for your service animal). One last thing, don't bet on having a place to get drinks or food bc apparently across the street the cafe and wine bar keep their own hours and days despite what the concierge says, the gas station is you best bet! In conclusion, if you are a hard sleeper, who doesn't require an outlet, is taller than 5'7" but likes a tiny towel, don't mind being harassed about disabilities, and doesn't mind overpaying for a crappy not renovated motel 6 without a view- then rent the sand dollar room at the Jenner inn.

We stayed in two different rooms, the Milky Way and the Monte Rio. Without a doubt, the Monte Rio was the absolute winner!!!!! It was bigger than my own apartment, had FAR MORE privacy and less noice than the Milky Way and was just truly truly perfect. I would come back to Jenner just to spend time in the Monte Rio again. The Milky Way was a nice room but there are NO CURTAINS in the bathroom. Literally, someone goes onto the balcony, they can see you on the bathroom. Same with kayakers and possibly one of the rooms above you. These pics are of the Monte Rio (cause again, hands down the winner) The staff were all super sweet, the area gorgeous and overall just a great place to unwind.

Fish & chips. Pricey but tasty.

4 stars for the food, 2 for the prices. Paid $17 pre-tax for a plate of fish and chips--a standard portion, neither large nor small. It was quite tasty... came with vinegar and an excellent tartar sauce. Fries were crisp and well seasoned. Sadly it was just much more than I feel right spending for something I've always thought of as a cheap comfort food. Had an $8 glass of chardonnay with it, which was good, but I'd have rather just bought a bottle at that price. lol. If you can get past the expense, it's a cool place with great old timey ambience. On the night we visited, a friend's band was playing by the bar. The room was a tad chilly. Maybe consider keeping the front door shut after dark when the temp. drops? All in all, I'd go back, but I probably won't order both food and drink again.

*OPEN DURING COVID WITH A FEW RESTRICTIONS* Overall: This is a quiet, hotel with great views of Sonoma State Beach and the Russian river right off of the water. The hotel and the area are extremely peaceful and relaxing with stunning scenery wherever you go. The rooms seem very clean and tidy. When we walked in it smelled of cleaning products ( I don't mind that in the least). The appliances, flooring, decorations, bathrooms, etc, definitely are older and in need of some renovation, but they are well maintained overall. The towels, toilet paper and paper towels were folded in nice little shapes for an added touch of hospitality. COVID Restrictions: Due to COVID, the hotel is not offering hot continental breakfast or keeping their restaurant open. Instead they provide a bagged lunch of fresh fruit, yogurt and a pastry for all guests. All of the attendants at the front desk wore face masks and made sure to sanitize the pens, etc. Room Amenities: We stayed in the Starlight Room which had two large King Size beds, a fireplace, a TV, a microwave, small refrigerator and a beautiful view of the Beach. The room is so private and romantic, it's the perfect place to order take out, relax by the fireplace and enjoy some local wine while watching the beautiful view. Parking: The downtown area is very small so there is not a ton of dedicated parking, but there are long stretches of roads with ample space on both sides where I saw people park. I also saw very few "No Parking," signs, so I think you would be fine to park on the side of the road if comes to that. The Town: The restaurant near the hotel that's open closes at 5pm. If you want dinner after that time you'll likely have to leave Jenner and go to the next town. We drove about 10 mins and ended up in Duncan Mills where they have a few restaurants that stay open later like Cape Fear Cafe and Blue Heron. Bodega Bay is also about another 10 to 15 mins drive further down highway 1 and they might have restaurants open. Either way, the towns there don't seem to stay open past sundown, so make sure you get whatever you need before it's dark ( even the gas station closes early). The Staff: The staff were very friendly and helpful, offering recommendations of things to do nearby, of neighboring restaurants that might still be open. Overall: Overall I think Jenner Inn is a great hotel to stay at for a relaxing getaway. And if you want a central location that is close to hiking trails, beaches, rivers, camping grounds and all of the beautifies nature has to offer, this is the perfect option.

Wish I had known a couple of details before planning my anniversary dinner here…read more This place is known for epic views, naturally we wanted a table with a view so I called a week in advance to request just that. The woman I spoke to said she would put it in her notes and that specific tables are not able to be held. She assured me we would have a good spot so I took her word for it. This was our first time coming here and its an hour drive. There is very minimal parking. We were lucky to get a spot as someone was leaving. We were seated at the worst table this place has to offer, right at the entrance to the bar and kitchen, in a narrow walkway, there is a window for one person to look out of and the other seat is looking into the kitchen as the table is positioned halfway in the middle of a window, so one side is against a wall and a view of the kitchen. The busy waitstaff was coming in and out quickly from both areas and walking past us with plates and such, it was chaotic at best. It felt almost insulting to be seated here as we had made a request well in advance to celebrate our anniversary which was also not acknowledged. Another party was just leaving so I was able to request to move. We were then seated at a 2 top table just outside of the atrium with a direct view thru a window of another 2 top table on the other side of the glass so when you go to look out the window its like you are staring at the people at the table thru the glass partition. We were so deflated by this whole seating situation. I say all of this to point out that if you are a party of 2 there is barely any tables with a clear view for both people so keep that in mind! If you have a party of 4-6 you have a much better chance of a better table. Really wish I had known that!!! The interior was nice enough but lacking the romance and ambiance I had hoped for, can we get some candles or flowers on the tables? Seems like an obvious detail overlooked. As far as the menu we were a bit underwhelmed by the offerings, there is a prefix menu and a small menu adjacent with minimal options like lamb and elk or vegetarian.... Probly should have looked at that before making this reservation but I had heard how amazing it was so I just took a chance. Although the choices were limited we enjoyed everything we ordered, food and drinks. Our waitress was nice and did a good job for us overall but definitely was more attentive and informative to the group adjacent to us which was a bit disappointing. Again this was a celebratory dinner and it just fell short for us in that way as it was not acknowledged Our tab was a little over 300$ portions were modest although tasty. I enjoyed the drinks and desert the most. To sum it up, I wont be going out of my way again to come back here. If I found myself in the area I might enjoy stopping in for a drink and dessert. Id say a solid 2.5 stars

Now that we're on the Sonoma coast quite often I wasn't quite ready for a sit down, so I decided to take the chowder to go. According to the hostess, the bar staff would take my to go order. So I probably sat at the bar for I want to think about five minutes before I was even acknowledged that's very disappointing. it really gives you a dismissive feeling when other guests are being intended. I'm not talking about a large group 4 down to two people, and I honestly felt ignored. Any way I waited patiently and was finally asked if I could be helped so I said yeah I wanna place it to go order. I'm kind of driving down the road and I just wanna take it to go. That was no problem. I wandered around the property, which is really lovely while I waited for my chowder. My receipt came to approximately $37 for my to go order of only two servings of chowder. I served it that evening, along with a salad and some filet mignon in the comfort of our own accommodations. While the flavor was whatever I remembered, it was a great flavor. It's rich and it's definitely comfort food. However, the potatoes were all raw basically uncooked not at all what I would expect for a seafood chowder. While the potatoes should be not mushy, these were just nearly raw. After the anticipation of looking forward to enjoying and sharing this dish, I feel pretty disappointed. So I can cross this one off my foodie bucket list. Been there done that was just OK. #coastkitchen

TLDR: Nice romantic getaway…read more I don't normally review hotels. But the hotel is special, so I'm doing something special as well! I know I'm going to sound like a infomercial, but this place HAS EVERYTHING. It's got a GREAT restaurant (which I'll definitely review in a bit), they have a Record library (AND every room has a record player), they have board games, they have outdoor games, they have hiking trails, they have an Exercise room!, they have BEAUTIFUL scenery. About the only thing missing, is probably a pool. But given the fact that we came in the SUMMER and it was STILL very chilly, I doubt anyone would be swimming anyway. You can always just drive 15 minutes to the beach and swim in the ocean anyway. All the staff were super friendly, from the housekeepers to the front desk. I also like the fact the front desk guy even knew my name! Every time I talked to him, he always greeted me by name. Unfortunately, I wish I knew his name... but anyway that was a great touch. We chose this place because it was a pet-friendly place. The fee was a bit high, but it included a doggie bed and 2 bowls and some doggie treats. Too bad we have cats... heh. But the thought was really appreciated! It was clear the bedrooms have been remodeled, because even though the exterior looked old... the inside was anything but. Nice hardwood floors, an open bathroom with 3 swinging barn doors. We splurged and got the balcony with an ocean view. It was all soooo Romantic and lovely. Truly a special place to stay. Wifi was excellent, and they had a modern smart TV as well. They even provide complimentary pastries early in the morning, and cookies at night! Will definitely want to stay here again for a nice getaway! Only downside is getting here... involves some hairpin turns. My wife got carsick unfortunately.

Before my arrival, I spoke with the property by phone and was told that the room I had booked actually did not have a hot tub. Since having a hot tub was important to me and was one of the reasons I made the reservation, I had to book a different room at the same property for the same dates that did have one. I discussed the situation directly with Sam, the owner/manager, and he told me that he would resolve the issue and that the original reservation would be refunded. Booking.com subsequently told me that they could process the refund, but they needed written confirmation from the property stating that the refund was approved. Booking.com contacted the property requesting this confirmation, and I also contacted Sam myself. Unfortunately, despite Sam having already promised me that the issue would be resolved and the original booking refunded, he never followed through. I sent multiple emails asking him to simply confirm the refund to Booking.com, including follow-up messages after receiving no response. None of my emails were answered. This was not a case of me simply changing my plans or deciding that I no longer wanted the room. I rebooked because I was specifically informed by the property that the room I had originally reserved did not have the amenity it had been advertised with. I then relied on Sam's assurance that the original reservation would be refunded. Mistakes in online listings can happen. What made this experience particularly disappointing was the way it was handled afterward. Sam personally told me that he would take care of the problem, yet when Booking.com needed a simple written confirmation to issue the refund, he stopped responding altogether. I gave Sam and the property multiple opportunities to resolve this privately before writing a review. Unfortunately, my repeated attempts to contact him went unanswered. Based on my experience, I would be very cautious booking here. The inaccurate listing was frustrating, but the much bigger issue was the lack of follow-through, communication, and accountability after the owner/manager had personally promised to resolve the problem.

A special thank you to Alex, who helped me with my reservations and went above and beyond to accommodate me. Alex was incredibly helpful, welcoming, and made the entire experience that much better. The property itself is absolutely beautiful. You're surrounded by nature and incredible trees, which makes the whole place feel peaceful, private, and relaxing. The swimming pool and hot tub are amazing and the perfect places to unwind while enjoying the beautiful surroundings. The food and snacks were also excellent, and the wine was delicious! Everything about Boon feels thoughtfully done, from the atmosphere and amenities to the hospitality. If you're looking for a relaxing getaway surrounded by nature with great food, wine, and wonderful service, I highly recommend Boon Hotel + Spa. I can't wait to come back!

He's the best! He needs a raise! I've stayed at several other resorts here but this is by far my favorite. The property is well maintained, super relaxing and grounding. They have bikes to take into town which are also well maintained. Rooms are really cute and the place is dog friendly. The pool has a chill ambiance with a curated playlist. Their honor bar is a really nice touch as well. Highly recommend this place!

Downtown was a short walk (groceries, pizza, sandwiches, anything you need) and on the property there were kitchen spaces for us to hang out with plenty to do on the property. Rooms #11 & 12 were amazing. 11 is the larger room and larger bathroom with 2 full beds. 12 has a pullout sofa and full bed. Easily sleeps 2 couples in each room or mom and dad and 2 kids, but that's not what you're there for. Outside (if you take both spaces) is a large outdoor deck divided in half by a wall but connected so you can get from one room to the other. It has a shared yard beyond that. The landscaping is amazing. The property is on the river with tons of space to chill in the water. They have a deck for the facility and everyone can use it. It's shared so be prepared to be with other people but it is a place that seems to attract a good crowd. Everyone who we ran into there was nice. Another thing on the property they was cool was coffee, fresh ice cold filtered water, popcorn, and the front desk made the kids cotton candy daily. There is an ice machine there as well so you can roast in the sun and drink ice cold filtered water till you pop. That part of the place is in the outdoor kitchen which is community and has board games and seating for everyone. Outside the kitchen is bathrooms and seating areas. 2 fireplaces for s'mores and I believe a bbq pit (I can't remember we have a travel size Traegar they let us use) as well. If I were to get married or have a party it would 1000% be here. I think there is 12 rooms and I'd rent the whole spot for it without even thinking twice. Maybe bring extra help to keep the party rolling but this place legit is perfect for it. They also have like a VIP outdoor seating area we didn't end up getting but has a TV and some "roped off" area to hang out at that is an amazing setup. I can keep going but we loved this place. Even upon arrival our room had spiders have babies in the room (happens yall it's on the river and def outdoorsy) and my wife felt awkward asking because we didn't want to sound like the complaining people but we asked for a vacuum to get them out. The lady actually came in the room and helped us. 5 star stay. 5 star people, oh and being a licensed contractor and getting along with people who work, the people who kept the grounds were cool too. Super nice to our kids, and when you see the landscape, you can tell they are good at their job. Can't say enough good stuff. We will be back.

The property has direct access to the river, including a small dock where you can fish, which was a highlight for our family. There's also a lovely fire pit area, and the s'mores kits were such a fun touch for the kids. We also appreciated the complimentary coffee in the morning. The large grassy area was perfect for the kids to run around and play, and there are plenty of games available as well, including board games and Jenga. These little touches made it easy for the kids to stay entertained and enjoy the property. The rooms are on the smaller side, but having a mini refrigerator in each room was incredibly helpful when traveling with kids, especially with a larger family group. The owners were exceptionally nice, welcoming, and helpful throughout our stay. It's clear that they take a lot of pride in the property and genuinely care about creating a great experience for their guests. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and would happily come back. It's a charming, family-friendly spot with thoughtful amenities and a beautiful setting right on the Russian River. It was especially nice having a place where our entire family could stay together and enjoy the property.

Pros: this was a very charming estate and the staff was beyond kind to both of us and our pup. He was welcome everywhere except the dining room, the pool and spa. The room was very cute and clean. The only downside for me and my allergies is that there is wood fireplace in each room. The bathroom had plenty of hot water. The breakfast was from 8-10 am in the dining room and had a decent meat-less spread. Toast, bagels, oatmeal and toppings, plain yogurt, cottage cheese, scrambled eggs, hard boiled eggs, fruit salad, coffee, tea assortment and juices. The grounds are super cute and weather permitting there is a movie playing on a projector with complimentary s'mores to cook on the outdoor wood fire. Since we had our dog, we didn't use the pool or spa. "Aunt Kay" we interacted with the most and was so kind to both of us and Dio. She made our stay! Not only was she informative but also checked in on us when we we'd pass through the lobby. Dio was a big fan of her. Cons: if you have allergies or are sensitive to wood smoke, this is not your destination. Again, there are wood burning fireplaces in each room and a large fire pit by the movie. The room we stayed at is across from the pool and it can get noisy. You can also hear everyone that walks in front of your room. Along with that there is a lot of wildlife, so you may need ear plugs. If you need to sleep in the dark, the front blinds are going to still let in light, so bring a sleep mask. Update: we got a text that I forgot my socks in the room. They offered to mail them to us, we declined. I don't remember the last time house keeping and the front office too the time to be that considerate.

The room itself was very clean, sheets, bathroom, everything was very clean. I always get paranoid about bed bugs and we had zero issues. The breakfast in the morning was also very nice and fresh with good options. They had eggs, sausage, toast, bagels, cream cheese, very delicious fruit, oatmeal, coffee and tea. That alone made it a reasonable place to stay. The dining room was also very clean. I also really liked that they had the outdoor movie theater and smores. Our kids loved it each night. The library/game room is also such a cute unique area that is great for those who have kids. However now to the bad. That includes the cute library. While a cute idea, it's extremely dirty filled with dead flies and bees all over the windows and even cushions. The windows on the outside have not been clean in a very long time. The dead flies, bees are everywhere. There on the floor, the light fixtures, jacuzzi and pool. The jacuzzi had so many dead bugs in the water and the water also had probably dirt from people's bodies. It was very unsanitary and disappointing to say the least. The property itself is not maintained. There are bugs, weeds, and poor condition of most of the outside of the property. It's too bad because it could be a great place to stay if they just did some extra work to clean up. Part of me would want to come back because of the breakfast and outdoor movie but they really need to take the time to clean.
