We stumbled into this unassuming cafe, saw the simple menu and were like "oh well, we need to eat." Well dear readers this cafe is a gem. The fish tacos and fries are straight from heaven, crispy, flavorful and not greasy - world class. And the fish sandwich- another hit. Grilled to perfection with a hint of spice. We stopped there for lunch on our outing that day. It seemed a little hectic. We ordered a Caesar salad and fish and chips she a cookie. We ended up getting the fish tacos and upon checking the receipt that's indeed where the lady behind the counter had put in. I was about to insist on getting that I had ordered when I heard shouting from the back saying they're out of fish for the day haha. So we ate the tacos instead, thankfully there were still fries in it. The poor lady was horrified but not entirely her fault, she was sweet and very apologetic (especially when we went back to get the colour we forgot to pick up). Nice place and nice location. But very thin walls and when a car parked in our spot and then was idling from 445 am to 5 am we didn't get any more sleep. When we asked the manager why that spot isn't for the room we were we were immediately given an odd and defensive reaction and were told we were staying in the cheapest($200) room and that we should have contacted her...at 445 in the morning! Not sure how to do that since the staff was all gone at 3 pm night before. Not sure why if you're in the least expensive room you don't get to ask questions about the parking. Oh well...live and learn. We won't be staying there again, too many nice places on that coast to be treated like that. read more

This cute hotel hidden at the end of the river has incredible sunsets & hikes. You've to pay attention to your email, they send you exact directions because there is very low connectivity in the area. I like that because i can read & look at the birds, and truly be connected with nature. Their rooms are thoughtfully designed and the lobby is great for some morning coffee & work. We stayed in the Gray Whale suite this past weekend while in town for a wedding. First time to Jenner and the Jenner Inn. All we can say is that the suite was perfect. Stunning view. The balcony is worth it on its own. The suite itself has a quaint, rustic feel yet a clean, updated look. Because it's a little up the road from the main lodge, you really feel like you're away from everything, in a good way. The staff, as well, were incredibly friendly and responsive. From check-in and the cute breakfast box they provided us for the morning, to addressing any needs we had, the hospitality was felt. We also loved the little coffee shop across the street, which had the perfect outdoor patio overlooking the water to sit and enjoy our lattes and some really good fresh scones! Was pretty ideal. Overall, a wonderful stay. The suite we had would be perfect for a romantic weekend away or just some needed solitude and is def the one we'd stay in again. Our family also had The Boat House suite next door, which they really liked as well. Although just a tad smaller, it had an equally great balcony overlooking the water and the same feel. read more

I think current Yelp rating of 3.5 is about right, though I could go with 4. I was enchanted by Jenner as a place-a spectacular seaside setting with amazing walks in the Headland Preserve and numerous dog-friendly beaches. Aquatica Cafe is lovely too. We spent one night in the Inn and liked it, but felt maybe a bit over-priced. Rooms had character, though a little quirky. It felt laidback and staff were nice. Perfect little getaway where Russian River meets the Pacific Ocean. Especially for someone who can get a little overstimulated in the city, I love how quiet and quaint everything is. Even for such a small town, the area is super walkable to the necessities like neighboring cottages, the cafe across the street, a little hike up to the vista. I especially love driving a little ways up the road to see the fluffy cows in the nearby pasture. Other than that, the renovations are really unique and curated well to add to the vibe. I even bought some merch to rep the otter mascot. I can't wait to book again for a relaxing little girls trip to share with the rest of my friends. read more

This much beloved inn from another era is finally undergoing some needed upgrades since being purchased by new owners. Our cottage looks out on the confluence of the Russian River and Pacific Ocean. Remote but wonderful. We have funky furniture in a huge room with a bath that will need some refreshing but certainly fine as is. There are two nearby places to eat with one closed two days during the week so your best bet for evening dining is 8+ miles south to bodega bay where there are many good places to eat. Boxed continental breakfast provided each day; easy parking along the Coast Highway, charming small outdoor garden perfect for an evening glass of wine and the usual refrigerator, sink microwave and coffee pot make this Inn a winner for those looking for a quick get away with peace and quiet and beaches and hiking not far away. read more

Loved it! I needed a night of R&R on my own and after having driven by this area on several occasions I knew just where I wanted to be- on this beautiful moody river where it meets the ocean. The Jenner Inn was a perfect escape. But before I go on, as others have complained, let me just say there was a tv, Wi-Fi and I had no trouble using my cell phone in my room by switching to Wi-Fi calling (something I even have to do at home.) But that's not why I was there. I wanted to fully unplug. I stayed in the Sonoma Room where I had a full view of the river from my bed. I could walk out on the terrace and take it all in even more. At night, with a cracked door, I could hear the waves crash at the inlet and the bird song intermittently with the rain. I had a smoke and odorless fireplace in-room to take out the evening chill, a full-length cast iron tub to stretch out in a bath and actually soak with plenty of hot water, and a microwave and refrigerator to prepare the take out food I picked up on my drive in. My goal was just to enjoy the quiet and my surroundings without going in for the night and I really did. I spoke with Jonathan on the phone prior to, on arrival and on check out and he's was very warm and friendly. Parking was easy as no one else would have cause to park near the cabin. There is a flight of stairs down to the room but that's to be expected to get the view of hovering over the river. Just note, these are not new buildings. If they were, they wouldn't have the charm, the view, or the cool old bathroom fixtures (like a real tub!) and most likely not the same price either. Perfect for a romantic getaway but even better as a solo retreat- to truly soak it in! I can't wait to come back! read more

I don't usually go on rants but this was a bday present/celebration, and for the price, let me tell you what you're in for... first of all if you're claustrophobic this is not the place to stay, if you're under 5'7" the shower hates you (stream right to the face and the shower head doesn't allow for movement) and if you're over 5' tall the towels won't cover pretty much anything but your top or bottom. The walls are missing paint, poorly sheet-rocked, and the cabinets missing veneer- $269 a night (total rip off). Also if you are having any important calls you might need to have then I don't suggest here bc there is no service and the WiFi cuts out when you need it the most. Oh and hopefully you don't need a plug bc they use extension cords for everything bc there is one outlet in the room. If you enjoy resting in a comfortable bed, nice mattress, comfy pillows and soft sheets- don't stay here, we believe the floor is crooked so the bed slants, then there's a large divot on the left side, the pillows are basically pancakes and the sheets feel like old hospital sheets. And if you want privacy/sound that doesn't travel good luck, the walls are paper thin and we heard the family next door from check in until we left for dinner- perfect for a romantic stay; including hearing the room next door shower and use the restroom, through the paper walls and the fact there's no pea trap in the shower (so sometimes you even smell the people next door using the restroom). And the view, I hope you like plants and the shabby house across the street or standing on a chair to see any water. This is by far the most expensive "motel 6" I've ever stayed in, and for the record at least those cheap motels are a bit roomy (see pics). Last but not least, if you are the owner of a service animal in which you need for a disability, be prepared to be argued in to paying a pet deposit, despite the fact it's against ADA laws and you need the animal for assistance. (I was told if you have a "dog" you should notify them beforehand even if it's for your disability- so you aren't charged a fee for your service animal). One last thing, don't bet on having a place to get drinks or food bc apparently across the street the cafe and wine bar keep their own hours and days despite what the concierge says, the gas station is you best bet! In conclusion, if you are a hard sleeper, who doesn't require an outlet, is taller than 5'7" but likes a tiny towel, don't mind being harassed about disabilities, and doesn't mind overpaying for a crappy not renovated motel 6 without a view- then rent the sand dollar room at the Jenner inn. read more

We stayed in two different rooms, the Milky Way and the Monte Rio. Without a doubt, the Monte Rio was the absolute winner!!!!! It was bigger than my own apartment, had FAR MORE privacy and less noice than the Milky Way and was just truly truly perfect. I would come back to Jenner just to spend time in the Monte Rio again. The Milky Way was a nice room but there are NO CURTAINS in the bathroom. Literally, someone goes onto the balcony, they can see you on the bathroom. Same with kayakers and possibly one of the rooms above you. These pics are of the Monte Rio (cause again, hands down the winner) The staff were all super sweet, the area gorgeous and overall just a great place to unwind. read more

4 stars for the food, 2 for the prices. Paid $17 pre-tax for a plate of fish and chips--a standard portion, neither large nor small. It was quite tasty... came with vinegar and an excellent tartar sauce. Fries were crisp and well seasoned. Sadly it was just much more than I feel right spending for something I've always thought of as a cheap comfort food. Had an $8 glass of chardonnay with it, which was good, but I'd have rather just bought a bottle at that price. lol. If you can get past the expense, it's a cool place with great old timey ambience. On the night we visited, a friend's band was playing by the bar. The room was a tad chilly. Maybe consider keeping the front door shut after dark when the temp. drops? We'd heard that the Jenner had been renovated, but apparently they forgot to renovate ALL the cottages. Billed as "the jewel of the property," the Waterfall Cottage is a place you might rent on Halloween, or Friday the 13th, for someone you don't really like. It's a dark, strange, musty old house that gives off someone-died-here vibes. They describe it as "rustic," which would be great if it wasn't creepy and rundown. There are stains on the carpets, lamps that don't work, and the kitchen is lacking the most basic tools, like pot holders and decent pans. No basic amenities, either - we assumed there'd at least be some oil for cooking, or maybe some tea? but none to be found. We were excited about the fireplace, which seemed a charming touch -- but found it broken, the pilot light out. Jenner itself is amazing; the house has a view of the night sky and glimpses of the river, but for $400/night, we definitely wouldn't stay here again. There are nicer airbnbs for less in the area that give you more. read more

Extremely friendly staff and accommodating. I was rookie with my Electricity vehicle and was concern of charging capability. The staff went out of the way offering and showed me where I can park and plug my charger in overnight if I need to with no charge. Pleasant check in. Little surprise with old style key though room has numeric key pad to lock/unlock. No big deal. Just accommodating for the older not tech savvy folks I guess. Room was nice layout, double Queens and clean. We got to park the car right out of the room. I would imagine we would have beautiful view of sunset outside of the windows. we were down the street at another venue for that event instead. Wonderful place to stay. Location is great, the space is comfortable, prices reasonable and the manager Melanie couldn't have been more helpful. A friend recommended Jenner and it's got some of the nicest hikes we've taken, all within a 10 minute drive or in one case walking up the street by the hotel. The estuary is across the street and beautiful with tons of birds. It was lovely even in December. Our room in Jenner Inn was great. Nice space--plenty of places for our stuff.. A little porch to sit out and watch the water, although you also want to check out the old wonderful parlor in the main building. Wifi worked great (wifi calling meant we could make calls in the room even though cell service is scarce) as did Direct TV. We brought our own HDMI cable so we could plug in our computer to watch Netflix. Cafe Aquatica across the street has amazing food and the grocery store in the gas station is surprisingly well stocked. Great base for the wonderful hikes nearby. We had a few days where we were socked in with a COVID scare, and Melanie, the manager was just so nice and helpful--lending us some dishes so we could eat in our room and dish soap so we could wash them. We're going to come back to Jenner and Jenner Inn again . read more

*OPEN DURING COVID WITH A FEW RESTRICTIONS* Overall: This is a quiet, hotel with great views of Sonoma State Beach and the Russian river right off of the water. The hotel and the area are extremely peaceful and relaxing with stunning scenery wherever you go. The rooms seem very clean and tidy. When we walked in it smelled of cleaning products ( I don't mind that in the least). The appliances, flooring, decorations, bathrooms, etc, definitely are older and in need of some renovation, but they are well maintained overall. The towels, toilet paper and paper towels were folded in nice little shapes for an added touch of hospitality. COVID Restrictions: Due to COVID, the hotel is not offering hot continental breakfast or keeping their restaurant open. Instead they provide a bagged lunch of fresh fruit, yogurt and a pastry for all guests. All of the attendants at the front desk wore face masks and made sure to sanitize the pens, etc. Room Amenities: We stayed in the Starlight Room which had two large King Size beds, a fireplace, a TV, a microwave, small refrigerator and a beautiful view of the Beach. The room is so private and romantic, it's the perfect place to order take out, relax by the fireplace and enjoy some local wine while watching the beautiful view. Parking: The downtown area is very small so there is not a ton of dedicated parking, but there are long stretches of roads with ample space on both sides where I saw people park. I also saw very few "No Parking," signs, so I think you would be fine to park on the side of the road if comes to that. The Town: The restaurant near the hotel that's open closes at 5pm. If you want dinner after that time you'll likely have to leave Jenner and go to the next town. We drove about 10 mins and ended up in Duncan Mills where they have a few restaurants that stay open later like Cape Fear Cafe and Blue Heron. Bodega Bay is also about another 10 to 15 mins drive further down highway 1 and they might have restaurants open. Either way, the towns there don't seem to stay open past sundown, so make sure you get whatever you need before it's dark ( even the gas station closes early). The Staff: The staff were very friendly and helpful, offering recommendations of things to do nearby, of neighboring restaurants that might still be open. Overall: Overall I think Jenner Inn is a great hotel to stay at for a relaxing getaway. And if you want a central location that is close to hiking trails, beaches, rivers, camping grounds and all of the beautifies nature has to offer, this is the perfect option. read more

The Jenner inn was the most amazing place and the reviews do not do it justice so listen to me when I say our room was SO LUXURIOUS, I was shocked!! We stayed at the Jenner inn with your fur child Peter in the Milky Way room. The first words out of my husbands mouth were "WOW" when we walked through the door and saw the amazing bathroom, huge deck right on the water looking out to the Russian river meeting the ocean, and the adorable and quaint feel of being in a vintage place while being so upscale! The inn keepers were so sweet and so accommodating and we loved the almost contactless check in and stay it was so nice feeling safe and secluded while it was a fairly busy weekend in Jenner! I can't say enough about this slice of heaven carved into highway 1. We will be back many times we cannot wait to go back and stay in the Milky Way room again! Please support this inn! The views are stunning, and the room was large and comfortable with a decent kitchen, wonderful bath, and a comfortable king bed. It would be better if they had guest robes. The second day there was no internet. After reporting the problem, we were told that the confirmation letter has warned us of the possibility. In fact, the letter only said that internet was "limited". We left a day early as we needed to be able to stay linked to family back home. read more

Bathroom was tiny.. the shower was very small leaked outside the shower curtain into the bathroom. Looked like it was an on going thing. Black mold in shower also. The view was nice but the deck is so old and rickety also had a dead rat under the deck that smelt awful. The bats and wasp made it very hard to enjoy the view outside. No privacy on any balcony. Just spent our 20th anniversary at the Jenner Inn. We used to come most every year . This was the first time since the remodel. We used to love the hottubs, so this time we booked the Milky Way room. I was a bit concerned that the tub might not be big enough( from the website photos ) . What a great surprise. It was very big and we loved the room and the very spacious bathroom and the large deck. It was perfect. The woman at the front desk was super nice and we were able to check in a bit earlier. We will be back to the Milky Way room for sure. read more

Preface- My wife and I have been coming here for over 20 years and now we're here celebrating our 20th anniversary. There's no cell service but they recently added wifi to the rooms so you can call over wifi. What I have written below I attempted to address with management prior to me publishing but they have not returned my call after attempts to meet with them face to face upon checkout. The good - The views are amazing. The Sound of the Russian River, the birds, and sight of the fog rolling in and out is magical. The smell of the seawater is very soothing and you're right on the edge. The bad - cleanliness. It was a mess. Cobwebs everywhere, many surfaces were not dusted and there was mold in the jetted tub. I was mortified for the price. There was a hole in the tub covered with tape. I was looking forward to taking a bath and was disappointed to say the least by the level of cleanliness. The pictures attached show the mold in the spouts of the jets. Clearly this was not missed during regular cleaning rather not cleaned in months. The rooms are dated and the bed and pillows were alright. I would expect a non-spring mattress in this day and age. You can mess up a lot of things in my book but don't screw with a good night sleep. Maybe you can argue it's priced accordingly for what you're getting relative to other stays in the area but for an investment of $600 you can get an excellent mattress from Amazon. I gave it three stars for the view but I can't come back until cleanliness is addressed, bathtub fixed, and the bed upgraded. I wanted this to be better. My wife and both wanted this to be better and I was very disappointed. I hope this gets fixed and new memories can be made for future anniversaries. read more

If you want a cheap hotel for a high price you found it. Everything is cheap, from the old deadbolt door lock on the non-fitting front door with glass for easy burglary, to the cheapest Chinese faucet and wrong toilet seat, this room is not worth the $$. And it was expensive. Instead of fixing the floor they just linoleum over it so it creaks and has soft spots. I wilKeep on driving by next time. In response to her review, it is a cheap glacier bay faucet. That's why you can't even was your hands without banging your hands. No insulation do you get to listen to your neighbors using toilet while trying to sleep. Poorly built and not updated, but price still almost $200. Ridiculous. Have pride in your property. read more

This is the only place I've stayed at multiple times. I always love to go to different places for varied experience. But I love and adore this inn--it has a vibe and spirit that's impossible to describe: a deep in the bones integrity, a warmth and completely chill down to earth welcoming beckoning. It's remote and quiet, serene, and peaceful. It's virtually impossible to not let loose a sigh of relief. The fact that internet connection is spotty forces us to stop googling for the end of pi, lol :-) We stayed in the Monte Rio Suite, complete with full kitchen and expansive views, a sofa and chair plus bed overlooking the River. We also had the walkout deck where, despite the chill and cold wind, braver more robust souls sit. There is everything to love and nothing to complain about here. In recent years, they have multiple upgraded rooms and suites, which this is not one of them. My only feedback for the management is that the actual matters this Suite needs replacing ASAP, especially for someone with back issues, it's wsaaaay too soft and lumpy. The customer service is super friendly and sweet, the prices absolutely cannot be beat! Btw, usually the restaurant is open for their complimentary breakfast, but these days they're giving a boxed breakfast which I've posted a photo of. read more

What a escape!!! We booked the Milky Way room. There is stairs to get to the room but once inside you'll never want to leave. I would advise to bring water and snacks for your stay and extra kcups if you want more then one cup of coffee. The bed was amazing with down comforter and extra pillows. The room had a microwave and fridge which we used for pizzas... don't judge The front desk allowed us to bring our dog which I checked first prior to booking. There is no tv in the room. The WiFi worked very good and allowed me to keep in contact with family. This room had a huge deck attached which allowed for wonderful views. Now!!!! For the bathtub!! The jets were amazing and fit two adults perfectly!! We didn't try the free continental breakfast that they offered. This room was beyond clean and we will be returning again!!! We are delighted. An as-yet not renovated value. Private cottage with views of coastal hills, river, other buildings. Lots of birds and kayakers to watch. The Treehouse is an aerie, with all bird-themed art. A little funky but quite comfy. Cozy but nice use of space. A surprise not mentioned on website: mini kitchen with tile counter, sink, mini-fridge, and microwave. I brought cutting board and knife, silverware, bandana napkins, small wood plates, cereal bowls...needed dish soap. They supplied wine glasses, water glasses, coffee mugs, Keurig coffee and fixings; breakfast bag with yoghurt, fruit, nasty guilty-secret pastries (microwave). I'm dying to redo this place--has good bones; know just what it needs! Unfortunately a red-flag fire day power outage rendered the amenities (both in our room, and local restaurants) nil; we had to cancel but have rebooked for another date. I was hesitant about this place, based on other reviews. I am so glad I booked it anyways. My room was the Gull room, located in river house. It is essentially a house split into three rooms, each with a private deck. First of all, the parking situation is a bit sketchy. I would dock a star for it but that just seems petty considering all homes along hwy1 have the same issues, not just the inn. There is a parking area to the north of the house that fits exactly two vehicles, snugly. You have to back out onto hwy 1 which as I said is a little sketchy. A very short walk down the stars takes you to the entrance to the gull room, and to the large deck. The room is small, but very clean and cute. There is no tv, no phone in the room, and no cell service. The hotel does provide extremely slow wifi. All of that may bother others but it's pretty much the sole reason I chose this place. The heating for the room is a space heater that you have to crank up. It heats the space quickly though as the rooms are small. The location is beautiful. The sunset and the stars at night were absolutely unreal. It's close to several beaches and lots of fun things to see. I can't speak to the other rooms here but mine was pretty much all I could have wanted. read more

Impromptu getaway during COVID. Could not be happier with staff's protocols when speaking with guests, room cleanliness and overall experience. We will be back. We stayed in Ft Ross and it was perfect for a couple with a busy toddler. Didn't realize it had a deck until we arrived which was and added bonus. We had a pleasant one night stay at Jenner Inn despite pandemic restrictions. We were impressed with the staff who called us few hours before to ensure we are able to make it on time (there is not cell coverage in the area, so reaching out to us before was a good idea). Arrival and checkin was also great. Only caveat is that our room didn't have a TV, and the internet with ultra slow, and no cell service meant you have to rely on very very slow connection (perhaps barely able to fetch emails). I am not sure, I left with the thought that this was intensional to detach from social media and "external" world. Overall this was a great place and I highly recommend it. We also recommend carrying your own backup food as surrounding area is highly limited in supplies after certain time of the day. read more
