My bestie arrived last night for dinner with a box from Sweet Reba's. The ginger cookie didn't survive the trip as it was too delicious for her to leave alone! Sweet Reba's is a favorite of hers, and I now know why! She brought to share two chocolate espresso cream sandwich cookies, a lemon bar, and a blondie. We cut them into four pieces each as they are very large. The price is about $4 each, but the size and the quality of the ingredients make this a bargain for such sensational treats! I practically swooned with my first bite of the choco-espresso sammie. It was that good! She said the goodies would be even better the next day. Well, I got up this morning, and made a beeline for that bakery box. I swooned again at the taste of the sammie. The cream had crystallized into this amazing textural cream. I'm not usually a fan of lemon bars but this was exceptional. Don't let the appearance of the blondie fool you with its Clark Kent demeanor. It's really Superman with creamy white chocolate bits, and a brown butter, butterscotch finish! My bestie says that the sandwich cookies are some of the first to sell out so don't wander in around 3 and expect to score. She says service is always sunny reflecting the sunny valley climate. Really cute, order-at-the-door bakery. We got a few of their pastries and a vanilla birthday cake. The White Chocolate Butterscotch Blondie was incredible -- really soft, chewy, buttery, sweet goodness (wish we got more). The Monster Cookie was also really good. It's a huge thin cookie. The edges were crispy but the insides were still really chewy which we loved. Their other pastries were okay, nothing to rave about. However, we really didn't like the Vanilla, 3-tired, Birthday Cake. The cake inside was super dense and dry -- like it was old pound cake. The vanilla frosting was sweet but kind of bland. Super sweet sweeties! This small store front bakery has a good array of tempting cookies, muffins and slices of tea loaves. All are the perfect accompaniment for a cup of coffee or tea from the Carmel Valley Roasting Company right across the outdoor patio. Sweet Reba's is still serving from a Dutch door window, so you do not enter the shop. You can survey the goodies on shelves in the windows of the shop, get a sweet bite, then sit at the bench in front of the shop to enjoy your treat. We picked a coconut macaroon and a small cinnamon sugar muffin for our ride home, since we knew we were going to be stuck in Friday afternoon traffic. Both were very very sweet, with the taste of sugar eclipsing other flavors, but they were a nice pick me up for the end of the day. Fantastic cakes and cookies every time. My partner and I usually grab a treat whenever we bring our dog to the nearby wash station. This time I ordered a birthday cake for my mom. She loves a good carrot cake and Sweet Rebas is tried and true for me. My only concern the acronyms used when taking down an order. On three separate occasions (different days too), with three different staff, my order was mistaken for a chocolate cake. A chocolate cake was even slipped into my box after just correcting it at the register. Unusual, but understandable if chocolate and carrot are abbreviated similarly. read more

We picked up a tasting box which included every flavor and were able to customize to exactly what we wanted. We coordinated the floral decoration with the team & included our florist to ensure the flowers matched the aesthetic. The price was also significantly more reasonable than other Carmel-area vendors we inquired with. Sweet Reba's was more "old school" in the ordering/confirmation process. I was so inclined to try this place as there was a line outside and many hungry and eager patrons. I already had my coffee in hand from next door's Carmel Valley Cafe and what better pairing than with a yummy baked pastry. I asked the patrons in line what their favorites were and I listened to those ahead of me on what they were getting. Don't tell me YOU don't do that. Lol. Turns out a lot of people were picking up a breakfast burrito. This must be on a secret menu because I didn't see this option. I'll have to try it next time. I ended up getting a mix of baked goodies, but my favorite was their freshly baked, still warm, cranberry scone. This isn't your typical heavy and densely baked scone. It's light and fluffy and not too buttery or sweet. It had the most perfect sweet crunch on top and ratio of cranberries to bread. I regret not getting more and taking them home! We were going to the UPS store in this strip mall, and I just wanted to look in the window... I am a sucker for ANY seasonal dessert (let alone an EAST COAST specialty of whoopee pies) - The daily feature was a pumpkin Whoopie pie. I asked the gal if it was good and she highly recommended it. It did not disappoint. Highly spiced (and huge) with a cream cheese filling, I ended up splitting it 4 ways for dessert that night with my family, we all loved it! I visited this business a few days ago and I really enjoyed the location in the Crossroads Shopping area. It was a noon on Saturday and the sun was out. There is plenty of free parking near the bakery. Since we are still in the Pandemic the Bakery didn't allow customers inside but all the food items were nicely displayed in the large front windows. I tried the Chocolate Peppermint Cake which was awesome, the Red Velvet Cookies were the perfect texture, the Snickerdoodle was so good I will be back soon to get some more, the Doughnut Muffins were small but that seems to be the perfect size so I didn't feel guilty eating 3 of them. My absolute favorite item was what I would call a "Snickerdoodle Cream Sandwich" (it is similar to an Oreo cookie). Ordering is easy. Walk along the front window and check out the options and than go up to the door and a worker will patiently help you decide what you want to order. I've been to a lot of different bakeries on the Monterey Peninsula in the last 40+ years and Sweet Reba's has shot to the top of my list of freshly baked goods. read more

We tried the cinnamon donut muffins and peach galette. The cinnamon donut muffins were like cake donuts in the shape of a donut hole. I loved that the whole thing was covered in the cinnamon sugar. The peach galette was so nice with a cup of coffee or tea. We brought it home and heated it up a bit. Peaches were delicious and not too juicy where it's leaking everywhere. I hesitated for a very long time to write this review, but I finally need to voice my disappointment. I decided to go with Sweet Reba's for my wedding cake after seeing her great reviews and her impressive portfolio of custom cakes. I was getting married on the beach, so a beach-style cake was very important to me. I spoke to Reba on the phone months before my wedding since I lived far away, and emailed her exactly what I wanted. I included the photo of exactly what I wanted the cake to look like, emphasizing the importance of the graham cracker "sand" and the abundance of shells in the photo. Reba agreed, I paid for the cake, and I awaited my day. Fast forward to the wedding day. After our ceremony, when I spotted the cake during our reception, I was completely shocked and hurt, but obviously had to hide it because my guests were looking at me and I was on camera. The cake was on center stage on its table and... looked NOTHING like the photo. The frosting was not smoothed out, no graham cracker sand, the shells were extremely sparse/small, no tinge of blue on the shells, and it overall was extremely disappointing. I almost felt like the order was forgotten about, and thrown together last minute. Based on her portfolio on her business' social media platforms, she has created many beautiful, exquisite, and detailed custom cakes, and I was comforted that my request was nothing out of the ordinary for her. I was mistaken. If it was too complicated or not able to be replicated, I wish she would have told me. Sadly, it's not like a birthday cake that can be redone the next year. I will not get a redo of my wedding day to remedy this. read more
