The service is excellent. My son and I usually sit at the bar, most times we order a soft drink, maybe a beer if we feel like it. Menu is plentiful. I love the guac, warm chips, and the cheese dip (jalapeños on the side). Enchiladas are great, the burritos were awesome. Fajitas come out sizzlin'. We also like the combinations sometimes too. location: the food is good for the most part but the customer service is terrible at this location. i've been to several locations and this one was just awful on a friday night with 6 people at the very most dining in. i asked for the 3 steak tacos with rice and beans (comes with 3 tacos lettuces onions cilantro cheese) i would pay for the pico sour cream and guacamole on the side. i wasn't able to order the combo because i wanted flour tortillas instead of corn so now i would have to pay for the rice and beans and all the toppings including lettuce cheese and onions. i know that didn't sound right the manager came and told me sorry for the inconvenience he doesn't speak english very well. they didn't even ask how i wanted my steak cook. i'm just over at this point i just wanted to pay and take my order home. i asked for some chips and salsa to go and the server told me i can just take the ones from the table. i went to the front paid for my food and waited on my to go boxes and he only brought me one. and proceeded to hover over me just standing there watching me me pack everything up i didn't say anything but after five minutes why are you still here and you have another table you could be checking on. i paid 15 minutes prior to this his response for hovering over was "im just trying to make sure you have everything you need." which he didn't do that upon my arrival it was just weird and disrespectful i will not be back. read more

Ok so............as far as the food goes it's a NO! Unfortunately they lack in flavor and quality. However I want to acknowledge they have a very friendly staff and good margaritas. Also, they have a wide variety of food selections on the menu so shoot your shot and hopefully you won't miss like I did. Beware of the chicken dishes bc their chicken dries out QUICK! Also I wouldn't get a cheese based dish bc the cheese sauce gets stiff very fast. However, the cheese sauce/queso is good. But seriously it's not hard to make a good queso so no points for that. IF I ever came back I would only come for the margaritas and queso. I came on Cinco De Mayo so they were packed and the staff gets EASILY overwhelmed but like I mentioned before they are so sweet so it's hard to get upset. read more

I stopped into this Mexican restaurant on a wimp after not wanting to cook. Neglecting all Yelp reviews I wanted to try it for myself. Overall, it is a pretty average Mexican eatery. The food was to be what you expect at a typical Mexican restaurant, however the service could have been much better! I had the Agave Especial which was grilled shrimp, chicken, steak, peppers, onions and rice. It was very tasty and fresh, and the shrimp was seasoned very well! You get complimentary chips and salsa (to be expected) and we also ordered the Chorizo queso which was okay. It was a little too runny and greasy for our liking. This restaurant isn't super Covid friendly. They did wipe our seats down and table, but they still have hard copy menus that clearly are dirty. So my husband and I went here after a long day. We got there around 3-4pm. When we walked in, I questioned if it was open because it looked so dead. One of the workers got up from the table she was sitting at to greet us. We were quickly seated & given chips with salsa. The chips and salsa were VERY tasty! There are several menu options to choose from, and they have pretty good priced combos. I ordered the chicken quesadilla with onions and bell peppers. It was good, but it made me sick. When I got home, I literally vomited everything back up. My husband got sick as well. Service was great, however. High hopes for this place because we generally have nasty Mexican food on this side of Atlanta. Standard strip mall place with a strip mall layout inside. Chips and salsa bought out pretty quickly, salsa tasted a lot like ketchup, always a horrible sign. The chips were average but were at least warm. Lovely wife and I split the guacamole, it was a heavily puréed bland mass. Also got the veg 2 plate. Quesadilla was average, chalupa was actually pretty good. The bean burrito had what tasted like pizza sauce on top. On the good side, their house margarita was on sale and they had bottled Negra Modelo. Waiter was average, bus boy was super nice. Not coming back but this place should do ok because people around here don't expect much from Mexican food. read more

I've had 2 great visits! Jesus waited on my table both times. He Rock!!! I am a fan of all three locations and I love the cantina dip! However, on this last visit, the dip did not have enough cheese it seemed as if the pour just a little cheese on top of the meats that are served in the dip..... Now don't get me wrong, Im not complaining about the extra meat, I just wanted the actual dip, I will definitely try it again on my next visit. Wasn't too bad, but when you're used to California Mexican Food, some places are bound to come up short. Had the enchilada supreme which came with a bean, chicken, beef, and cheese enchiladas. Meal didn't come with rice and beans like you'd think it would. My wife got the camarones al mojo de ajo. It had a lot of garlic, but no sauce and only came with rice - had to order a side of beans. I tried this spot for the first time tonight - after freaking Taco Bell tried to charge me $6.39 for two soft chicken tacos! Or $9.64 for 3 chicken taco combo! (Seriously, Taco Bell?) In the a la carte section of the menu, Monterrey's lists 1 taco for $2.35 or 3 tacos (your choice of ground beef or chicken) for $6.85. The tacos come with lettuce and cheese, but you can add tomatoes for (allegedly for $0.25 - $0.50) - so that's still a much better deal than the one Taco Bell is trying cheat us with (lol). The person who took my phone order was a little impatient (the online menu doesn't make it immediately clear if the taco prices are for beef only OR whether its beef / chicken - so I had to ask). And the menu doesn't say what comes on the tacos (lettuce? cheese? onions? tomatoes? cilantro? who knows). White meat chicken only or combo of white and dark? So I had to ask. Ultimately, my chicken portions were a little small (though small, it was STILL a larger portion than one would get at Taco Bell). And during my call-in order, the waitress kept putting me on hold - without actually engaging a 'hold' function - so the entire time I was on hold - I was privy to a VERY LOUD, animated Latino man shouting about something. He sounded like someone's drunk uncle at a Christmas party or backyard barbecue. When I arrived, at right at 9pm the restaurant was pretty deserted save for a few barflies and they aforementioned loudmouth - who was still at it. Yikes! I was charged not $0.25, not $0.50, but a whole WHOPPING $0.75 cents for tomatoes - LOL - which would have been fine - had they actually given me a decent portion of tomatoes. Instead - I got roughly what amounted to a tablespoon, yes, a tablespoon of diced tomatoes - across 3 tacos, so I had about 5 minuscule diced red cubes on each taco. And the server said the chicken was white meat only, but it's not. It appears to be blend of white and dark, heavy on the dark. With tax and tip (yes, I always tip at least one buck for takeout to offset the cost of the takeout packaging - more if customer service is good) - I paid $9.06 total. I'll try them again one day, dining in - with the brood - (and during the day to avoid loud, obnoxious drinkers) to see if the portions and customer service are better when dining in. They are located in that plaza with Publix (at the corner of Richard B Sailors and New Macland). If you're traveling from city of Marietta on Powder Springs Rd and you hit the Home Depot, you've traveled one traffic light too far. read more

I met my Mom there last Saturday at 4 because the reviews were good. I guess I picked the wrong day. We were seated immediately and given chips and salsa. I had my 17 month old with me so I ordered a chicken tenders and fries kids meal to get her situated. My Mom had a steak. A ribeye and she said it was good. The portion was nice because she had food left over. I ordered the Kika dip as an appetizer. Kika dip is queso, spinach, mushrooms, jalapeño, shrimp, chicken and steak. The queso was too runny. And the waiter brought it out with my food which defeated the purpose of an appetizer. For dinner I had the Texas fajita nachos which were the plainest fajita nachos I have ever had. Just cheese, meat, peppers and onions. No lettuce, no sour cream, no guacamole. The waiter also was not attentive. He had no issues checking the other tables in our area but I had to catch his attention for anything I needed. read more

I came in this place wanting to try some New Mexican food. I was with my girlfriend and she was hungry. I asked the hostess what was the most popular item on the menu. She replied by stating no and eventually walked off. When I finally got to order my food I told them that I wanted my meat to be dry so my quesadilla wouldn't be soggy. When I got home with my food my quesadilla was soft and wet. The food was disgusting. This was on a slow Monday. When I called to complain there was no manager on site because she is allegedly off on mondays. I will never dine here again and it was my first and last. Terrible food with no flavor. This Monterrey's location is hands-down my family's favorite Mexican restaurant in the area. I know it seems like just another one of those chain restaurants but this one is an extra 7 miles away from us and this is the one we choose over the rest when we really want good food. The salsa is awesome! That's a 'must' for me, and bad salsa or too much cilantro will send me running for another location. This one is perfect. Makes me wonder if they switched, or something, because I can't reconcile it with what some others had said of it tasting like ketchup. I wouldn't like that, myself. But yeah, all of the food we've tried has been amazing. My favorite from here is the taco salad because they have the best shell around here as far as I'm concerned. The servers are all on point and very good at their jobs, there's Mexican music playing, it's a good atmosphere, etc... Just an all around good night out. Give it a try! read more

This was the worst experience I've ever had here! I called in my order, and was told that it would take 45 minutes to prepare my order. I went to the restaurant after 45 minutes, and waited ANOTHER HOUR AND A HALF before they finally had it ready. ( I had to ask, because they did not call my name.) Then, of course, it was wrong. I've ordered takeout here 5 times in the last 6 weeks, and it's been wrong 4 out of the 5 visits. I also noticed when I first arrived that there was a crowd of people gathered closely together, with no social distancing. There was no direction from the restaurant to separate, like every other retailer does. I heard someone suggest it, but the man at the door said it didn't work. Start with the positive: the food here is quite good. We've been here 6-7 times since they opened last year and the food has never disappointed. But I can only give this two stars because the service is AWFUL. The restaurant can be 90% empty and you still practically have to get up from your table and go find a server yourself to get any help. They don't seem to pay any attention to the guests at all. Seemed to take foreverrrrrrrrrrrr to open, but once they finally did, it's a nice addition to the immediate area. I'll admit I'm kind of a lazy person and try to consolidate things when I'm out and the location of this place helps lure me there a bit since it's right next to Publix and my bank, so I can eat out and take care of a couple of other errands all next to each other. Prices are what I'd call "decent for the portion size", and they get takeout orders right! LOL. Eating in is fine and service is good, but honestly I do find the booths to be a bit uncomfortable... the friends I eat out with consist of someone with a bad back and another with a bad leg, and these booth seats are more like straight/flat wood things that actually do get uncomfortable after a while if you have any issues. To be honest, Mexican food is tricky for me and it's hard for me to differentiate between different "levels" of quality. It's either good, or it's not good, to me. This place is good. I'm not QUITE going to give it the same ranking as La Parilla, but it's close. Check out the lunch specials on the back of the menu as well. Not a big drinker so can't comment on Margaritas or such there. read more

I have been waiting for a Monterrey Mexican Restaurant to come to Powder Springs, and it has arrived! This one distinguishes itself as 'Monterrey's'. It is located to the left of Publix on Richard D Sailors. 5 stars all the way from me! The food is excellent. Everything I have tried has been wonderful. The staff is friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the food. If they don't know, they will find out. My daughter and I tried the Flan for dessert yesterday and came back for more today! I asked about it and found out it is made in-house from a family recipe. Many of the menu items are family recipes. The decor is lovely and the ladies bathroom is clean. Haven't seen the men's restroom. :-) read more

If I could give no stars I would, but I wanted to leave a review so I clicked 1 star. This place is very disrespectful, when I first walked in there were two staff standing at the door and but of them looked at the and didn't acknowledge me. We had a table of 12, we booked a private area a week in advance but they placed us in the middle of the floor with booths around us and other customers walking in and around us. We had to ask for utensil, water, waiter to take our order and such. The food was not all that and they staff couldn't remember who ordered what when the brought the food. Stay away from this eatery. My advice to this establishment is to get some training on every level. read more

It takes no time to get your drinks, and everyone here is super friendly. Realistically it is just your simple average Mexican/American restaurant but the food is always great. I decided to give this restaurant a try after leaving Publix on a Sunday. It wasn't crowded at all. The hostess was welcoming and the waiter was nice. I ordered the fish tacos meal. The tacos were very tasty. The fish was grilled (good portion size) and topped with red onion, fresh cilanto, lime, and avocado. I liked the sauce that came on the side too. The rice was well seasoned and not too dry like some places. The tortilla chips were warm and had no salt, which I also liked. I didn't really care for the salsa. It did kind if taste like ketchup, like another reviewer said...weird. I didn't enjoy the piña colada either. It lacked flavor and was watery. I'll try Monterry's again one day and check out some other items on the menu since the tacos were yummy and fresh. I still think Casa Grande and La Parilla are just better all around restaurants. read more
