The food left much to be desired. Our table of 7 ordered a variety of dishes such as the Rise and Shine, Country Breakfast Skillet, a pancake, and breakfast sandwich. The grits were watery with zero salt or butter. We tried to doctor them up by adding lots of salt and butter but it was useless The eggs had no salt or pepper although they do a nice job of cooking over easy eggs which some places fail at. Homefries, which were really hasbrowns, were mushy and bland. The pancake was dry. The bacon and toast were good.

Farm-Fresh Flavor with a Side of Small-Town Charm - Breakfast at The Farmer's Daughter in Urbana,…read moreOhio If you ever find yourself cruising through Urbana, Ohio with a hunger that only a hearty, home-cooked breakfast can satisfy, do yourself a favor and stop at The Farmer's Daughter. It's the kind of place where the biscuits are fluffy, the coffee's always hot, and the welcome is as warm as the griddle. This morning, we popped in for breakfast, and from the moment we stepped through the door, we knew we were in good hands. That feeling was confirmed when Holly, our waitress, greeted us with a smile and the kind of friendly service that makes you feel like a regular--even if it's your first visit. I went all-in with The Hog Log, and let me tell you, this is not your average breakfast burrito. It's a hearty wrap filled with sausage, bacon, ham, scrambled eggs, and cheese, all rolled in a soft flour tortilla and smothered in rich, homemade sausage gravy. Every bite had that perfect balance of smoky, creamy, and savory flavors--and the gravy? Next-level delicious. My wife ordered Uncle Dave's Favorite Breakfast, which comes with your choice of pancakes or French toast, eggs done your way, a breakfast meat, and toast. She chose pancakes, bacon (crispy but not burnt), whole wheat toast, and eggs over medium. The pancakes were fluffy and golden, the bacon had that perfect crisp, and the eggs were cooked just right--firm whites with warm, runny yolks. It was classic comfort on a plate. The décor is classic country diner meets local charm--think rustic wood accents, sweet signs on the wall, and the kind of vibe that makes you want to slow down and savor the morning. Whether you're a local or just passing through Champaign County, The Farmer's Daughter is worth the stop. The portions are generous, the food is fresh, and the service--especially from folks like Holly--makes the experience even better. So go ahead, order the Hog Log. Or Uncle Dave's. Or both. You'll thank me later. Sorry my camera wasn't working so no pictures Take the Trip, your Next Adventure is waiting. #TakeTheTripByBrian

The people are always nice and the food is always hot and ready. The vibe of the restaurant is definitely a little out dated but it's clean. The food is pretty simple, but that doesn't mean it's not good! I have honestly come here for years, and may have had something other than the fried chicken one time. On my most recent visit, I had fried chicken, broccoli, and mashed potatoes, and about licked my plate clean. I also had a strawberry poppy seed salad, that was quite good, and a generous side portion, as well as sugar cream pie. I came with a group of friends, all mid-thirties, and everybody had a great time. There was something for everyone, and because of the laid back vibe, we were able to grab a good sized table and hang out for a couple of hours to catch up, which was really lovely. No pressure from the staff, and there was plenty of open seating for the next group. Because it's cafeteria style, service is really quick, so you can have an efficient meal, or hang out.

My bite was crispy on the outside and light, juicy, and flaky on the inside, which shows chef skill since is hard to cook fish when it is almost 1.5 inches thick (I wish I could do a lot home) My blue cheese salad with candied walnuts was inhaled!! The roasted cauliflower sprouts app was tasty and flavorful. That was our best app of two, the other being beer cheese pretzels. My hubby thoroughly enjoyed his burger medium rare, cooked exactly how he likes it. And I stole some of the French fries and seasoned chips off of our friend's plates because I cannot resist any potato, they did not disappoint! Carla, the manager, has an eagle eye always looking to help her servers, check on meals, flip tables fast and keep the restaurant moving. As well as she is a kind and smiley human! It was Friday night, date night, super busy and you know a restaurant runs well when you don't feel the stress. The other diners are also having a blast and everyone, even employees is enjoying themselves. However, I will be coming back for the best dessert, bread pudding (which I was against getting since usually it is just mush to me) and possibly getting it to go for a sweet tooth craving. The glaze is manna from heaven, so sweet with vanilla flavor. We dipped the warm chocolate cookie into the glaze. I would have licked the plate if it was not a double date!

The line took a bit of time to get to the front but the staff was extremely nice and was able to make substitutions. There a lot of seating so whether you are a party of 1 or 8 there's plenty of areas to eat. The food took about 30 minutes to arrive with the kitchen backed up. There's a self serve water station so we relaxed and took in the ambiance. There's food emphasizes fresh ingredients and the burger and chicken sandwich did not disappoint. The burger is vegetarian friendly and comes with a good portion of kale slaw. The chicken sandwich was stacked tall and super filling. Would recommend to try!

Spent over a hundred dollars with tip. Room for improvement. We were there at 12:15 Saturday, June 27. 1. Dining area was very dark. The waitress said bulbs keep failing. I think it was a slow period with few diners, and only half the lights were turned on. We changed to a window table. 2. We ordered coffee immediately. It was lukewarm. We asked for fresh coffee. It took some time to get it. Not the best taste. I needed sugar, when I usually drink it black. 3. Coffee cups are just too small. Not refilled quickly. When we order coffee with our meal, we want a decent sized cup. Preferably a mug. The cups themselves looked naked without a saucer underneath. You need a saucer for those cups. We sometimes order to go. When we dine in, we go for the ambience. It didn't exist today. Maybe we'll stick with ordering takeout. If you order takeout, skip the fries. They are in the same container as the other hot food, and they are soggy when you get them home. Both the Cole slaw and smashed potatoes are 5 star. We highly recommend the ribs and the key lime pie. Prior occasions, the crab cakes, prime rib and ahi salad are also good choices.
