For starters, I eat here multiples time but I always get delivery. love the food. the service however was horrible. I dined in, and walked in the door right after the other table. the waitress took my order first of coffee then the next tables order. somehow their coffee came out first AND three orders of tacos with rice and beans came out before my pancakes and eggs....I waited 40 minutes for my food had to take it to go and was late to work. also, the one waitress looked sick blowed her nose and no one is wearing gloves. I don't understand why the food industry doesn't mandate gloves!! read more

So I gotta give this atleast 2 bc the guy was nice. Let's start off 3.50 for half a cup of yellow rice? Atleast fill the too go container. Got tacos chicken was not that good could've been way smaller pieces very chewy it just grossed me out. Orderd beans they gave me refried beans lol . Would give a zero!!! the teenage girls that work there have a major attitude. I order a chimichanga there fried topped with sour cream ,cheese and salsa just like there menu says .. I got a not fried item topped with lettuce tomato and onion in a puke green soup mixture !! That's there enchilada description. I ask the teenager what that was . See said chimichanga I showed her what the menu said and she said that's a chimichanga! So I walked out and said keep it and remember the customer is always right . My sister told me about this place and upon first sight I was like ugh. It looks super divy! I looked at the menu and only the back is typical Mexican food, there's actually a lot of standard American boardwalk types of food and they do breakfast as well. They had pozole on their special with tostadas for $12.95(they also have it on their regular menu minus the tostadas) I was really excited because it's not often that you see that on a menu, it was absolutely delicious, it was a huge portion and the tostadas went really nice with it. My husband got a quesadilla and a taco, both were excellent! My brother got a chicken torta which is a sandwich, it had avocado, and almost everything else in the kitchen on it. I literally almost stole it from him!!! It looked so phenomenal. I can't wait to go back and get one myself!!!! My daughter had chicken fingers and fries. It's always good to know you can get a kids meal!!! The people there are so nice! It's literally a family run operation. If you can get past the lack of ambience it really is a diamond in the rough. I highly recommend if you like authentic Mexican food! I'd actually highly recommend if you wanted just some normally priced American food when you're down the shore. read more

Stopped by while visiting Seaside on a beautiful Tuesday evening. Homemade tortillas, Pico de Gallo, huge burritos, and filling empanadas, this restaurant really hit the spot with its delicious and authentic food. The only downside to the experience would be the service. Waiting for over 10 minutes to be given menus and several more to be served, watching the servers sitting behind the counter talking and relaxing was frustrating as we were alone in the restaurant and ready to order. Despite this, when we ordered appetizers and entrees the food came quickly and was timed nicely. By the time we finished, the place became a bit more packed and we felt forgotten about as we waited for another 40 minutes to be given any service after finishing our food. Tacky little Mexican spot near the shore, my expectations were set low walking in, but even after the mediocre (at best) service we received, I walked out extremely surprised by the quality of the food I received. Truthfully, all of the food at Montes is delicious but my favorite item on menu is the chocolate chip pancakes. Yes. Chocolate chip pancakes. My wife and I moved to Arizona and we still talk about these pancakes. They are the standard that we compare other pancakes to. If you want something more on-brand for a Mexican restaurant breakfast my wife also loves the chilaquiles but you should definitely try the chocolate chip pancakes. read more

Nice family. Good chorizo taco and pozole soup. The soup came with two tostadas, however, the beans weren't great. Beans and rice were disappointing. Fish taco was very good. The hall leading to the bathroom was pitch black and the women's restroom had some nasty stuff in the trash can that I wish I hadn't seen. read more

My fiancé and I stopped in here for a quick bite while we were staying in Seaside this week, and it was the best choice we could have made. The family that runs it was kind and adorable. We had the chicken burrito and the chicken quesadilla, both of which were amazing, very tasty and hit the spot for a yummy meal. Absolutely terrible!!! Ordered enchiladas and tacos. Enchilada order was wrong, ordered with sour cream on the side and they were covered in sour cream. They were also in immersed in water in the container. The taste was terrible, almost like a soggy tortilla. The tacos did not have any salsa and very little meat. I ended up throwing it in the trash rather than eat something tasteless and unappealing. I ordered from another restaurant. A great waste of money. This is the real deal living in AZ for over 35 years finding satisfying Mexican food in the east well its challenging. I ordered the chicken enchiladas with their green and red sauce- Delicious no heavy yellow cheese here just a dusting of dry white cheese. The corn tortillas soft, chicken well seasoned and sauces flavorful and distinctive. Horchata was not overly sweet with cinnamon on top. The chips were a bit to thick and they came out with four different salsas- nice touch. Alas I am just traveling through but if I was local I would feel blessed. read more

Montes is terrific. Been there a number of times never to be disappointed. Their Mexican dishes are amazing. My favorite is their quesadillas. Their burritos are the bomb too. But what's really amazing is that their regular items are amazing too!!! Their egg sandwiches are the best around. Want a good burger? Yep they produce that too!!! But hands down they have the best Mexican food around. It's off the beaten track from the boardwalk and worth finding Montes!!! Nothing fancy. Red and white checkered plastic tablecloths and simple decor. Don't let that fool you! The food is fantastic!!!!! And they're all so nice! Makes you feel at home. Fantastic fresh and authentic food. The fish tacos are off the hook. Small but extremely satisfying with a nice creamy spicy sauce on top. That just made a party in my mouth..
