If you are ever in the market for appraisal, please look the other way. John Montgomery, a licensed appraiser, is given the power of appraising houses to be fair and uninclined. But, his appraisal seemed tainted, unfair and unprofessional even to the eyes of the ordinary people. John himself appraised my house which was under contract and pending loan approval. He under-appraised it by a big margin. We reached out to him to reconsider the appraisal giving him listings of 2 houses across the street which closed less than a month at a higher price than his appraised value. John, being unprofessional, shot down our request and kept his same under-appraised value. His reasoning was that the other 2 houses were of smaller square footage. If an appraiser is fair and professional, he would never appraise a larger home to a value less than 2 smaller homes which closed less than 2 weeks of the appraised date that are less than 0.2 miles radius. Only someone who doesn't have a grasp of the market reality can appraise this unjustly. Thanks to John, I'd to take money out of retirement to make up the difference. read more

I refinance my home and appraisal was good and professional. The gentleman took off his shoes and wore a mask while in the home. He also had gloves and that made me feel more comfortable with the Covit stuff. The appraisal was expected to be late because of the current low interest but we got it in one week when a 2-week minimum was expressed by our loan officer. Contacted them for appraisals on two properties as part of a settlement earlier this year. They were eager to get started. Both properties were visited. And then I waited. I was given a timeline that we agreed to...and it came and went. No update or rationale given. I reached out twice and reminded him of the deadline we had agreed to. Still nothing. The two finally came back and were fairly complete in two separate but terse emails with attachments. Three months later I contacted them to see if I could pay for updates and never heard back. It was apparent they work on their timelines and don't like to be called out if they don't follow through. In a day and age where customer service is becoming a lost art, I would stick with companies that are true to their word and communicate effectively. Go elsewhere for an appraisal. There are plenty of other professional companies out there who communicate effectively, behave professionally, and operate with high standards. read more
