Beautiful grounds, Kevin and Hayden Corley put the heart back into Monticello. Jays vision lives on for generations! A must in Napa Valley!

Here it is. We came in and met the grandson of the founder and felt as though we were being treated like family. Our sommelier, Trish, was so knowledgeable and friendly. She even took a photo with us. The cabs are exquisite. What a great experience. Thanks Trish!

After wine train fun!!! Wooohooo! When you book with the Wine Train, you get the opportunity to add a package on. This package is called Sweet Treat. One of the items in this package is a 2 for 1 tasting at Monticello Vineyards. So, after we had great fun on the wine train... we decided to move the party to Monticello Vineyards. The grounds are amazing! You can see the Vineyards up close and personal and see the mountains in the not so distance. Parking: They have a parking lot not too far from the tasting room. The short walk makes for a nice stroll through the grounds. You also pass the restrooms on the way! The Service: Great weather and an awesome day for an outdoor tasting. Gus was our host. He was amazing and knowledgeable about each wine poured. The Wines: I opted for the tasting with the Chardonnay, which is the only white they produce. As our first wine, I must say, that it was one of the best Chardonnay's I've had this visit. It was so refreshing. We went on to try a Pinot Noir and a few Cabernet Sauvignons. I was quite surprised because I am not usually a Cab drinker, but these were sooooo good. They all were, smooth finishes, not too dry. It's no wonder these are award winning wines! A+ Service and A+ Wine = A great time!! Thanks for being so great and professional. You made our time at Monticello Vineyards enjoyable.

Tasting straight out of a barrel! Cameo of Gustavo, our great host.

The first stop on our Napa Valley Wine Trolley tour was Monticello Vineyards, and it set the bar high! Gustavo was our tasting host and took us on a tour of the grounds (not too much walking; very accessible!), machinery, back to see the barrels, and into the tasting room. Each wine was delicious, but I especially loved the 2021 Chardonnay and the 2000 Corley Reserve. Massive shout out to Gustavo, his tour guiding, and his tutorial on using a two-prong wine opener!

Couldn't have asked for a better wine tasting experience. Booked a last minute tasting that far surpassed expectations. Upon arrival, staff made us feel like family in moments. They were incredible knowledgeable and poured so much knowledge into our minds regarding the vinification process. They also poured so much wine into our glasses- which was phenomenal. The grounds were absolutely stunning, too. Will not only make it a point to visit on our next trip, but will tell anyone who will listen that no trip to Napa is complete without an afternoon at Monticello Vineyards. Prettiest vineyard in the valley!

A very fun experience. Take your time and chill. Linda is great at her hospitality. The ambiance is warm and friendly. The wine is amazing. Great people. Great wine. Absolutely loved the rose, chardonnay, and pinot. Everything was wonderful. Thank you from Total Wine.

Nestled in the heart of Napa Valley, Monticello Wine Distillery emerges as a standout experience for both wine aficionados and novices alike. This family-owned gem pays homage to its heritage through a meticulous selection of wines that reflect the rich terroir of the region. The picturesque setting, combined with the distillery's commitment to quality and sustainability, makes every visit memorable. Monticello Wine Distillery not only offers an exceptional tasting experience but also educates guests on the art and science of winemaking, making it a must-visit destination in Napa Valley. The tour guides are wonderful, knowledgeable, and funny.

What an experience visiting here. Cokito was very knowledgeable on the wines she presented to us. We appreciated how well she described them. Almost poetic! We fell in love with the reserve Chardonnay and the Pinot Noir. The views outside were beautiful.

I treated my parents to a Napa trip recently and we had the best time. Monticello was one of our stops. The grounds were beautiful. Tons of greenery and lovely sitting areas with shade to enjoy the views. The weather was perfect and there were nice fountains so the ambiance was great. We did the red tasting and all of the wines were nice and paired really well with the cheeses. Our host was super knowledgeable about the wines and walked us through the process and how all the different soils on their property can change the flavors of the wine. They definitely have a great product and selectionof reds. We even got to try a red from 1998 at the end. Definitely come here for a nice relaxing tasting outside. Do the cheese board add on as it elevates the tasting. Just nice and simple which is a great way to relax in Napa! We even bought some red to enjoy back at the hotel.

This was a delightful vineyard. We visited with the Napa Valley Trolley Wine Tour and really enjoyed the coordinated tasting on the patio. The woman who hosted us was generous and friendly. She obviously enjoyed her job sharing about the wine and getting to know her guests. The property is beautiful, being fully surrounded by vineyards. It was peaceful, quiet, and a nice place to enjoy a few good wines.

The Corley Family knows spectacular wines and stellar hospitality. And a replica of Thomas Jefferson's estate, another reason to visit this stunning winery. Something unique and different besides visiting castles & caves. Get the Presidential Red, it won't disappoint. Not many family-owned vineyards in Napa Valley Wine Country. The grounds are immaculate. The tasting room staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Highly recommend bringing your family and friends here. Always a great place to unwind and relax without going further up into St. Helena, Rutherford, or Calistoga. I want you to see for yourself how much passion and TLC goes into their winemaking, as everything tastes divine! 'Til next time ~ cheers & see you on Yelp (SYOY)!

3.5 star 3 stars for the wine as they tend to be a bit thin and light in texture, but 4 star for service and the cozy ambiance in the lawn enjoying the wine. Their vine covered wall is also great for photo backdrop, which we absolutely love. We had to book ahead for the visit and it's prepaid, $45 per tasting of a flight, all wine were from grapes grown on the estate. They have a 100% cab franc full of tanning, the 2017 Corley cab reserve is also ok.

Monticello Vineyards is a family owned and operated winery that has been harvesting and bottling their estate grown wines for over fifty years in the Oak Knoll District of the Napa Valley. Their signature Jefferson House which was built in the early 1980's is no doubt intended to signify the connection to the winery's namesake. After participating in one wine tasting in northern Napa Valley, a friend and I were looking to make one last stop at another winery before we headed home, and after doing a little research on what was on the way home we found that the Estate Tasting Flight for 45 dollars which paired some on Monticello Vineyards best wines with a cheese, charcuterie and cracker platter was one of the best deals in the region. Located off of Big Ranch Road right in between the St. Helena Highway and the Silverado Trail, it was very easy to find Monticello Vineyards as parking was plentiful. They had plenty of seating in the grassy lawn area in between their tasting room and production facility, and their aforementioned Jefferson House, which also provided for much needed restrooms while we enjoyed our afternoon of wine tasting. After selecting a patio table in which we were to enjoy our wine tasting and pairing, we opted for their Tasting Flight which for forty-five dollars gave us the opportunity to five of their signature wines alongside a tasting platter filled with freshly sliced charcuterie including salami, cheeses including cheddar, brie and swiss, and crackers from Rustic Bakery. Kojito served as our friendly and very informative tasting room associate who guided us through our entire tasting flight by explaining where each wine we tried was sourced and what pairing suggestion they would recommend with each wine. We began with their 2019 Chardonnay, which was sourced right here on their Monticello Vineyard estate, and with a crisp fruit flavor and rich golden tones is the perfect wine to enjoy in the summertime with a fresh plate of figs or other stone fruit. Our second wine was their 2018 Pinot Noir, which was also sourced here on their estate in the Oak Knoll region. Kojito recommended pairing this wine with a nice oil based protein such as roasted duck, thanks to the wonderful taste of burgundy, which is what brought their winemaker to seek out these vineyards in the first place. For our third pour, we enjoyed one of my personal favorites, thanks to its versatility, was their 2019 Jefferson Cuvee Cabernet Sauvignon, which was sourced throughout the Napa Valley. With notes of black cherries and licorice, this Cabernet would pair nicely with any pork, chicken or barbecued meat dish. For our fourth wine pour, we enjoyed their 2017 Corley Proprietary Red Wine, which was a part of their higher wine series, and was a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot and had a nice spiciness on the palate that lingers throughout the finish. Uniquely, Kojito recommended pairing this wine with a quail or squab based entrée. For our fifth and final pour, we enjoyed their 2018 Corley Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon which had a nice balance to it as it easily would pair nicely with any steak entrée. We had a wonderful time enjoying the warmth of the Oak Knoll region of the Napa Valley as there was a gentle breeze that we felt as we sipped and savored all five wines while enjoying a wine pairing with crackers, cheese and charcuterie. I can only imagine what the winery's founder, Jay Corley saw in the vast property when he began searching for an appropriate site to harvest Burgundian style wine grapes. He clearly saw early on what so many others would eventually see in this particular region of the valley as the cooler temperatures have produced some wonderful world class wines with beautiful colors and bold flavors where history and tradition reign supreme.

So I called and someone actually answered the phone and made my appointment for me, THANK you! We arrived 15 mins early, so we hung out in the lobby reading all the history, etc. Then Skip took us to the best view overlooking the vineyard for our tasting; see pictures! We sampled almost ALL the reds! All of which were good. See pictures. I like the fact that we did side by side tastings of many of his wines. My favorites were the 2022 Primitivo and 2021 Malbec, which we bought a few bottles of. Ambiance - Secluded private winery. Close to main Downtown Napa, but far enough away for privacy and a feeling of being far away. Appointment only, so very private and customer focused. Typically no more than 3 parties at a time. Today was considered a very busy day as there were 4 parties including us, lol. Gated private estate. 200 acres. Plenty of parking, especially since hosting only 3 guests at a time. Events - See their website. Well behaved dogs are allowed outdoors. Service - Skip is a history buff and we both talked for hours... After leaving, well really the next day (LOL), I realized that our tasting was supposed to be only 60 minutes. I guess because we got along so well, we stayed until closing! And he gave me a glass with a generous splash and let us walk the property alone after they left! So welcoming and trusting. Price - Depends on which tasting and what you buy; see their website for prices. Tastings range from $50 to $100 per person. One free designated driver allowed. Tasting fees waived with wine equivalent purchases. Hike tours $75 per person ($60 for club members). See their website for more information. I finally made it to horseback riding and wine tasting and it was worth it. The property is…read moreabsolutely stunning! The charcuterie board was really good and we were able to get refills which was nice. We opted for both wine options. Everything was explained well and the service was top tier. The outside ambiance was really nice I wish they had low music playing but other than that so worth it.

I was looking forward to celebrating a friend's birthday at Shadybrook Estate Winery, but…read moreunfortunately, the experience was disappointing from beginning to end. Our horseback riding reservation was scheduled for 1:00 p.m. We arrived on time with a group of five, but our ride was delayed approximately 30 minutes while staff waited for another reservation--a party of one--that arrived late. Under normal circumstances, I wouldn't have minded waiting. However, this was frustrating because during a previous visit, when our group was running late, we called ahead and were told there was absolutely no flexibility. Our ride was completely rescheduled because we were told the 1:00 p.m. ride was the last time slot of the day and they couldn't make other groups wait. It was disappointing to see that policy applied differently when it inconvenienced other guests instead. During the horseback ride itself, there was one staff member leading the group and another following behind. The guide in front shared the history of the winery, but despite riding near the front, I couldn't hear most of what she was saying. If guests are meant to enjoy the educational aspect of the tour, there needs to be a better way for everyone to hear. Additionally, it felt as though much of the staff's attention was focused on the solo rider in our group. They appeared to know her on a first-name basis, and whether they had a prior relationship or were simply trying to make sure she was comfortable, it left the rest of our group feeling overlooked. Unfortunately, the service issues continued during the wine tasting. Before we could begin, our wine consultant insisted that payment had not been made and stated he could not pour any wine until payment was collected. I had already paid in full and ultimately had to log into my bank account and show proof that the transaction had gone through before we could proceed. That was an awkward and unnecessary way to begin the tasting experience. The wines themselves were enjoyable but nothing particularly memorable. At the conclusion, our consultant simply ended the experience without offering a revisit of any of the wines we had tasted--a courtesy that many wineries provide and one we've come to expect during guided tastings. One final disappointment was the lack of any personal touches. I made this reservation months in advance for a birthday celebration and, after reading numerous positive reviews, was excited by the thoughtful details other guests described--such as personalized menus with guests' names at each place setting. Instead, we were given standard menus with no acknowledgment that we were celebrating a special occasion. While this may seem like a small detail, it's those thoughtful touches that often elevate a wine country experience and make guests feel valued. It was disappointing to see that level of hospitality missing, especially after booking so far in advance and reading such glowing reviews The property is beautiful, and the horses were wonderful and appeared well cared for, but the inconsistent customer service, lack of attention to guests, and overall rushed experience left us disappointed. Given the premium price of this experience, I expected much better hospitality and consistency. Unfortunately, I wouldn't choose to return or recommend it based on this visit.
